Here’s a selection of characters you haven’t seen, and design revamps for characters you have seen spanning about three sketchbooks that I had on hand the other night. I can’t seem to find my color guide for Oleana (the lady in the glasses) or else that’d be here too. The bird fella is my take on a Phoenix, because why the hell not, and the old lady isn’t finalized yet.

Anyway, I know it isn’t comic pages, but thought it might be nice to share some art. Happy Valentine’s Day!

Joseph announced the book tour for the Welcome to Night Vale Episode Collections on today’s episode! Join us at these in conversation events with Joseph & Jeffrey, each followed by book signings for Mostly Void, Partially Stars and The Great Glowing Coils of the Universe.

If you can’t make one of the book events or if there isn’t an event near you, a reminder that you can also pre-order signed copies of Mostly Void, Partially Stars and The Great Glowing Coils of the Universe.

Note to self: awful 3-in-one scanners don’t like orange.

Ink doodle on the back of a hardcover sketchbook from a train ride. Probably going to cover it with characters when I’m not in a workspace conducive to comic pages or painting.

When my cousin’s 5 year old son saw me working on it earlier he asked why I was drawing a dragon with two swords, noting that there really should have been 3 swords instead.

Just a quick, tangible list of Chainsmoke related things I’m doing.

- Get remaining website stuff in order until pages are ready to post. Need to add an “updates” box or something, finish the character page, etc.

- Make a font from handwriting. If that looks like garbage, then it’s back to handwritten text.

- Finished prologue script, should be around 30-40 drawn pages? whatever the pacing/narrative requires

- Then part 1 resumes from where I left off.

If that seems like a long time coming, I definitely don’t think I’ll upload one page at a time. Probably will post a few at a time - one page or a whole story arc - whatever is necessary. I might burn through any backlog that way, true, but I think these pages have a better pay-off in batches. Uploading consistently/being late still worries me if anyone has suggestions on that? I was thinking of just doing “whatever I’ve finished by the end of the month” or something once I really get the ball rolling. But more than anything, I just want to make my comic, relax, have fun and post it whenever I feel like it. Thing is, that leaves you guys guessing. So, I dunno.

On the side:

- Have to finish that single page gore comic I was doing.

This weekend only - $15 Character commissions

Hey, so I have a lot of time today & tomorrow, and need groceries for the next two weeks.

I will make single color character art for $15 TODAY.

I will not accept payment until the art is finished and posted.

Send me a private message with a reference image, maybe a word or two about the character’s personality/what they like or what you want them doing.

Also pick a color! : >

Personal characters are A-OK!  I am also down for fan art - video games, cartoons & anime, etc. - since I am a fan of many things.

Cheers and hope to hear from some of you out there!
