I’m sorry. She doesn’t sound like a good parent at all. Hopefully you get that job you tried out for!
That’s the thing though, she is a good parent. She’s just a rubbish adult. She was with my step-dad for fourteen years and for all those years she let him deal with the financials and sorting out the shopping money and stuff, so now that she’s divorced and single, she has absolutely no clue what to do with it anymore.
And I’m stuck trying to get her to write things down, to sort out bills, to sort out her time so she can actually go to the cheapest places to buy food in bulk, and she won’t do any of it.
When I was younger she was brilliant with money, and we never had an empty fridge no matter how poor we were because she budgeted fantastically. But the years she’s been married we literally went from rags-to-riches and back to rags again. And I don’t know if it was when they started shopping at Tesco and Sainsbury’s and Morrisons for a few years or whatever, but now she is absolutely opposed to buying food from cheap stores and always ends up buying things from ASDA when they’re three times cheaper at ALDI which is all of five minutes away from the superstore.
It’s… honestly, at this point I’m past anger. I’m into resignation mode.
