Tsunku the brutal craft wonk can make even the cream of the AKB crop cry
I think this was a bit unfairly stacked, though. imho RR21 as a song and dance has aged better than Love Machine. You sure ain’t gonna get a good feel for what Sayanee or Miichan can do with Love Machine.
Secondly, everyone in the OG group except for Reina appear to be in really happy loving relationships, and they’ve all been glowing and gotten a notch up in their performance level since going public with their relationships. It’s kind of hard to beat that innate understanding of what the love songs are talking about.
Thirdly, picking the H!P fans in AKB actually backfires a little, because they’re so eager to please. It’s too polished, which goes against the appeal of the original Love Machine impact. There’s no Ishiguro. Whereas the OG can give no fucks and just be as ruthlessly competitive as made them so spunky during Golden Age.
Fourthly, yeah, that vocals stack-up, no contest.
Also the OGs have Johnson and Keichan, so yeah, really unfairly stacked. Just look at the giant grin on Tsunku’s face when they’re going! The OGs brought the FUN TRAIN.
(That Tsunku rhythm theory just never stops rearing its head. To give that emphasis to the attack and the sub-rhythms is something not taught in the 48G, which contributes to that “too polished/smooth” feel of their vocals here. Sometimes it really is about just knowing the finer/wonkish details of craft, than any measure of talent)
Maybe they should have had the OGs do Hebirote instead, or the OGs do The Peace where 48G do RR21. Or maybe they should have brought some of the original Team K, they always went hard like Tsunku rhythm theory wants.
In 2015, Sayashi Riho will graduate at the Hello! Project Countdown Live

Ichii Sayaka, Yaguchi Mari, and Fujimoto Miki did not have graduation ceremonies at all.
Riho is not the only Morning Musume member to not graduate at a Morning Musume concert. Nearly all of these members have created their own legacy in Morning Musume. The fact that they graduated at Hello! Project events or not at all does not take away from this.
