Shattuckite and Malachite on a quartz matrix-  Kandesei (Okandawasi), Kaokoveld Plateau, Kunene Region, Namibia

Shattuckite (Cu5(SiO3)4(OH)2) is a rare mineral named after the Shattuck mine where it was first found in 1915. It often has a globular (bubbly) appearance, seen here in cross section. The malachite on this specimen is dead center, the green “schmear” among the vivid blue Shattuckite.
