Q1. When did you decide to do cosplay?

I first started cosplaying in 2008! Once I figured out that I could dress up outside of Halloween, I was hooked!

Q2. What was your first cosplay?

My VERY first cosplay was a closet cosplay of Daria Morgendorffer from Daria, but my first ‘official’ cosplay was Harley Quinn!

Q3. What is your favorite cosplay?

Hands down Harley Quinn or Mad Moxxi. I adore both of their characters, and Harley is just so much fun to be!

Q4. Do you make your cosplay yourself or do you have help?

I make my cosplays by myself! My boyfriend, Sparrow’s Creations, helps me with my props or sometimes completely makes them.

Q5. What was your most difficult cosplay to do?

So far, it was Sam Byrne from Gears of War 3. It was my first time working with EVA foam, leds and doing anything of that size. It was definitely a learning experience!

Q6. How long have you been doing cosplay?

About 5 years now!

Q7. How many cosplay have you done? Approximately.

Ohhh wow. Hmmm… At least 20!

Q8. Which one was your first convention?

My first convention was A-kon in Dallas!

Q9. Can you make a living doing cosplay?

Wellll… It would be very very difficult to do so, and it would be A LOT of hard work. Even then you would need to rely on things like print sales and some sort of cosplay merchandise to help fund yourself. Honestly, there is a very slim chance that anyone can make a living off of cosplay!

Q10. If you could have a power… what would it be?

The power to stop procrastinating!

Thanks for your time Enasni

Q1. When did you decide to do cosplay?

It’s like I’ve always had the seed of cosplay inside of me, but it was until a group of my friends invited me for a team of “Saber Marionette”. I did a crossplay, I was Otaru! XD

Q2. What was your first cosplay?

After being Otaru, a year later I think (or two) I did my first version of Jill Valentine (second version is still in progress). That’s still one of my most popular costumes!

Q3. What is your favorite cosplay?

So far I guess the Demon Hunter from Diablo III, my first armor, which I’m redoing right now!

Q4. Do you make your cosplay yourself or do you have help?

I do all of my costumes, in fact I teach other people how to make armors and accesories. I’m an special effects artist as well, so I do my own make up and prosthetics.

Q5. What was your most difficult cosplay to do?

I’m between my Demon Hunter and the Kindred from Forsaken World (I was hired to do that costume)

Q6. How long have you been doing cosplay?

I really started in the end of 2011, when I bought my new sewing machine. Before that I was making props and clothes for Indy movies.

Q7. How many cosplay have you done? Approximately.

I’ve completed about 50 and I have 5 more in progress!

Q8. Which one was your first convention?

It was back in 2000, a convention named “Fantabaires”, here in Buenos Aires. In those days we had only 1 convention a year. Right now we have conventions every weekend!

Q9. Can you make a living doing cosplay?

Yes, I live from cosplay right now. I used to work as an IP Specialist, but not anymore. I make money out of lessons and modelling (my own costumes) for video game companies and stores. Next one is for Magic, The Gathering. And if I become more popular, selling prints could help pay the bills as well!

Q10. If you could have a power… what would it be?

Because I have a poor memory for numbers, dates, names and addresses… I guess that I’d love to be able to remember EVERYTHING anytime I want to. To be a living wikipedia (?) Or super strenght. That for today, I can’t say that tomorrow will be the same wish!

Thanks for your time Lilia

Q1. When did you decide to do cosplay?

I decided to cosplay five years ago, when I went to an anime convention for the very first time. I saw all those people dressed up as my favorite characters and went nuts!

Q2. What was your first cosplay?

My first cosplay was Haruno Sakura, from Naruto. I did not make it, though.

Q3. What is your favorite cosplay?

My favorite cosplay is Zero Suit Samus, from Metroid. It took me a while to paint the lines right and add the latex details on the back, chest and hands.

Q4. Do you make your cosplay yourself or do you have help?

Now, I do it all by myself. Tutorials always help (that’s why I make my own tutorials and post them on my page and website). I learned mostly from my mom (sew), but now it’s all on me!

Q5. What was your most difficult cosplay to do?

Alexstrasza, from Warcraft. It was a full armor, and I had a lot of fun making it. I used Worbla for the first time and then, I painted it. It also included sewing and sculpting. The costume took me 5 months to finish.

Q6. How long have you been doing cosplay?

For five years and counting.

Q7. How many cosplay have you done? Approximately.

No idea. Probably around 40 (?). I really love making costumes.

Q8. Which one was your first convention?

It was a crappy convention in Brazil, in 2007, but I will not mention the name!

Q9. Can you make a living doing cosplay?

I am sure you can, if you are a smart business person, you can make money with anything. I design costumes for fun. I used to take commissions, but people never want to pay you enough, so I don’t do it anymore. You have to work really hard to have a business career on cosplay. That’s why I go to college! :P

Q10. If you could have a power… what would it be?

Flying… Imagine that? If you are mad, you can fly to another place and forget about everything else. It would be amaaaazing.

Q1. When did you decide to do cosplay?

Cosplay came into my life about 3 years ago when a friend of mine told me about a comic convention that was happening near me. Up until then I didn’t even know that sort of exhibition existed! Didn’t take much convincing before I decided to go.

Q2. What was your first cosplay?

My first cosplay was Ramona Flowers, I loved the character and I figured she was simple enough just to pull together for a last-minute convention. What I wasn’t expecting was the response from the people there. They loved it! I couldn’t go 5 steps without someone asking me for a photo or geeking out with me about the character. I guess that’s when I realised how much I loved the nerd community, because of the chance to bond over pop culture and be weird together.

Q3. What is your favorite cosplay?

It’s actually really hard to pick a favourite, I generally tend towards women with weapons when I choose a cosplay, and I do love guns. I really loved Tauriel because it was the first cosplay I built completely from scratch, and I have a soft spot for archers.

Q4. Do you make your cosplay yourself or do you have help?

These days I make as much of the costume myself as I’m capable of, although I don’t have leather-working or smithing in my skill tree yet!  I used to commission most of my costumes because I was scared they’d turn out badly if I made them myself, but I got to the point where I felt it was much more rewarding to learn new skills and teach myself instead of taking an easier way out.

Q5. What was your most difficult cosplay to do?

-

Q6. How long have you been doing cosplay?

Q7. How many cosplay have you done? Approximately.

Altogether I think I’ve made about 11? I know people who are getting up to their 30th costume and that just amazes me. These people are dedicated to their craft! I work full-time so I unfortunately can’t spend all of my resources and time on  costumes, as much as I’d like to.

Q8. Which one was your first convention?

Wooo!! My first ever con was Brisbane Supanova 2009 and probs the most difficult cosplay so far would be Tauriel because I had to learn how to make a bow yay!!

Q9. Can you make a living doing cosplay?

One day, God willing, I’d love to make a career out of cosplay. I believe it’s possible, if Yaya Han can do it, so can I. I have so much respect for that woman! She’s put the hard yards in and reaped the benefits, I hope one day I can maybe achieve a quarter of what she’s done for the cosplay community.

Q10. If you could have a power… what would it be?

My ultimate power would have to be flight. It’s corny, but I just love the idea of bird’s wings. I read a book called Maximum Ride when I was young and the characters all had the ability to grow huge eagle’s wings and fly. Simply beautiful!

Q1. When did you decide to do cosplay?

I didn’t decide to cosplay, it just happened. I was making costumes for photos and one day I just realized that it was called cosplay. I started this time last winter.

Q2. What was your first cosplay?

My first cosplay of all time was Lucy/Nyu from Elfen Lied, but that was before I knew what cosplaying was, or took it seriously. My first serious attempt at a cosplay was Lara Croft.

Q3. What is your favorite cosplay?

My favorite costume for pictures is Rikku (photo on header), my favorite costume to wear to conventions is Pikachu.

Q4. Do you make your cosplay yourself or do you have help?

I make all my own costumes. Usually hand stitched because the sewing machine I have is  the machine my mom had when she was my age. So it gets jammed up a lot.

Most difficult to do was Inuyasha.

Q6. How long have you been doing cosplay?

This winter makes it one year (2013)

Q7. How many cosplay have you done? Approximately.

11 serious cosplays with a couple goofy projects on the side.

Q1. When did you decide to do cosplay?

12 years ago I went to my first “Salón del Manga” in Barcelona and fell in love. The next year we made cosplays (or we pretended to be) some friends of Record of Lodoss War, luckily, there aren´t photos of it. But I consider myself more seriously cosplayer since 2006.

Q2. What was your first cosplay?

As I said in the previous question, my first “cosplay” was Pirotess of Record of Lodoss War. A real horror. I have to go back slope of it to take away that thorn. I say that my first cosplay Kairi from Kingdom Hearts 2.

Q3. What is your favorite cosplay?

I could not choose because I’ve done enough and different. From college to “pompous” (though not as much as I would like). All of them are special to me, because I´ve really had good times with all of them.

Q4. Do you make your cosplay yourself or do you have help?

I make them always. To help it perhaps once my mother, my sister, my boyfriend and some friends to help out but I make them, yep.

Q5. What was your most difficult cosplay to do?

I could not decide right now but I think I would choose Aria T´Loak from Mass Effect.

Q6. How long have you been doing cosplay?

The fateful first cosplay Pirotess was 11 years ago but as story since 2006 then I guess 7.

Q7. How many cosplay have you done? Approximately.

Ugh! Difficult now. I guess about 30-35. At first I did take quite a few years but I’d rather go easy and simpler than you’d like for lack of money things. I take that to be making costumes wishlist, hehe

Q8. Which one was your first convention?

Salón del Manga in Barcelona (Spain) when I was 15 years old, in 2002.

Q9. Can you make a living doing cosplay?

Make a living?? I would say no. At most I get some extra money doing commissions but could never make a living with the cosplay. For me it´s a hobby that gives me much (although it gives me headaches =P). Well, if the opportunity arose I wouldn’t say no, why deny it, but hey, that’s not my goal in life. Very few people are those who can live in it and it must be fucked, pardon.

Q10. If you could have a power… what would it be?

A power … Whenever I think I wouldn’t know wich one to choose. Maybe telekinesis. Move things at your whim must be cool xDD

Q1. When did you decide to do cosplay?

It wasn’t really a decision as such, it just kind of happened!  I’ve always been really into costume parties and took pride in customising or making my own things.  I started bringing some of my costumes along to photoshoots because I thought it would be fun, and it took off!  All of a sudden people were calling me a cosplayer and I didn’t really know what it meant.  After that I got more and more into it, and started attending conventions in costume… And never looked back!

Q2. What was your first cosplay?

My first costume was Psylocke from X-Men - it was part made, part bought, and it was something I made for a sci-fi themed party.  It’s still one of my favourites to wear but unfrotunately had to be retired recently due to wear and tear.  I’m definitely going to make a Psylocke 2.0!

Q3. What is your favorite cosplay?

Either my Magik (X-Men) or Liliana Vess (Magic the Gathering), I think - both are costumes that I made 99% from scratch and were really ambitious for me, so I’m super proud of them.  I learned a lot from these costumes and it helps that they’re both super sexy and badass to wear.  So much fun!

Q4. Do you make your cosplay yourself or do you have help?

I make most of my costumes myself, but occasionally I rope my Mum into helping me with props and things - she knows her way around a hardware store and I’ve learned so much from her!  I’m a very proud person so I prefer to make my own costumes as much as I possibly can.

Q5. What was your most difficult cosplay to do?

Connor Kenway from Assassin’s Creed was super ambitious for me at the time and I really struggled with it.  Prior to that costume, the only cosplays I’d made were Psylocke and Mary Jane, so the learning curve was SO steep.  But I like to challenge myself with every costume that I do, and I love learning new techniques and skills.

Q6. How long have you been doing cosplay?

Around two years on and off.

Q7. How many cosplay have you done? Approximately.

Around ten, I think.  Not that many - I’m still quite new to it all!

Q8. Which one was your first convention?

My first convention was actually MCM London Expo - I had been attending for a couple of years before I started cosplaying there.

Q9. Can you make a living doing cosplay?

I know there are a few people that do make a living from cosplay but I’m not one of them!

Q10. If you could have a power… what would it be?

I think I’d like to be able to fly!  Not for any particular reason, I just really want to fly.  No public transport ever again! ^_^
