looking-up-at-everything  asked:

do you follow any other cosplay blogs? what are they?

Buffffff, for the time being I follow almost one hundred cosplay blogs… I don´t have any preference for any of them.

I follow cosplay, cosplay photographers, cosplayer and some steampunk blogs, but I put my own post by 99% because I prefer publish what I think are the best cosplay (and cosplayer). And I try to write the credits, of course. I think this point is very important. If I don´t know the cosplayer I ask for some help.

For that reason I started my kamikame’s interview cosplay project; 10 to 10 short questions short answers answered by world best cosplay.

Because I don´t have any preference, I´ve put all the blogs that I follow (It took a while, I hope you value it ^^)

Questions by Kamikame

Answers: Jenn Croft

Q1. When did you decide to do cosplay?

I first started cosplaying in 2000, when I decided to make a Lara Croft costume for Halloween. When researching the outfit online, I found sites dedicated to Lara costuming and modeling. Back then we didn’t really use the term cosplay, we just called ourselves Lara look alikes.

Q2. What was your first cosplay?

My first cosplay was the original Tomb Raider costume from the first game. It was composed mostly of low budget store bought items. It was pretty inaccurate but it was so fun.

Q3. What is your favorite cosplay?

It’s hard to choose a favorite, as each costume had it’s unique learning experiences. I really do love the battle worn Lara though.

Q4. Do you make your cosplay yourself or do you have help?

Most of my costumes were done by myself, with a few exceptions where I had a friend help me with something I didn’t know how to do or I commission an item that is beyond my skillset. Eventually I want to be at the point where I have the skills to create anything but that won’t be for a little while still.

Q5. What was your most difficult cosplay to do?

The most difficult cosplay I’ve had to do is probably the one I’m working on right now, the Crystal Maiden from DOTA 2. Being mostly a prop maker, I find seamstress stuff much more challenging and this costume has really pushed me to learn new techniques and methods when it comes to sewing.

Q6. How long have you been doing cosplay?

Almost 14 years.

Q7. How many cosplay have you done? Approximately.

Between all the costumes I’ve made, remade and made but never worn, it has to be close to 30, with a couple dozen of them being different versions of Lara Croft.

Q8. Which one was your first convention?

My first convention was San Diego Comic Con in 2002. I went, not knowing if I’ll even like it. When I went, I was dressed in my traditional Lara costume and was surprised when people came up to me to take photos. I learned that there was an appreciation for costumers that I never knew existed. Between that and the awesome community I found within the costume/convention scene, I was completely hooked.

Q9. Can you make a living doing cosplay?

It is definitely possible and I would certainly welcome that. For now, I am completely content with it as a hobby.

Q10. If you could have a power… what would it be?

To fly, for sure!

Thanks for your time Jenn

Questions by Kamikame

Answers: Khal Drené

He was born in Argentina, but grew up most of his life in the Netherlands. Since 6 years, He has been living and working in Southern California.

Q1. When did you decide to do cosplay?

Around BlizzCon 2009, I figured I looked surprisingly much like one of Blizzard Entertainment’s video game characters.

Q2. What was your first cosplay?

Jim Raynor from the StarCraft series.

Q3. What is your favorite cosplay?

Khal Drogo!

Q4. Do you make your cosplay yourself or do you have help?

Jim Raynor was made and assembled by me. Drogo was more complex with the leatherworking, make-up and hair, so I recruited several others to aid me in that process while I worked on building the physique.

Q5. What was your most difficult cosplay to do?

Drogo, no doubt. It takes about 3 to 4 hours to get the extensions in and apply the makeup. Also, the body needs constant conditioning and weightlifting.

Q6. How long have you been doing cosplay?

On and off for about 5 years.

Q7. How many cosplay have you done? Approximately.

Only two! I am very picky with the characters I portray. I like to cosplay characters that have a strong resemblance.

Q8. Which one was your first convention?

BlizzCon 2009!

Q9. Can you make a living doing cosplay?

Not at all, it’s purely an entertaining endeavor. I pour more into it than I receive back.

Q10. If you could have a power… what would it be?

To eat all the sweet and delicious foods without getting fat or feeling guilty

Thanks for your time Khal Drené
