NU’ESTs records/Facts unique to them you might not have known!
-As some of you already know despite Nu’est being underrated they still have some records (I’ll put those in bold) and many things unique to them, so I’m making this list of info for new loves :)
- NU’EST is the first ever boy group from Pledis (debut 15th March 2012) and the 2nd ever Pledis group
-JR aka Kim Jonghyun was the first ever male trainee Pledis recruited (2009). He was casted on the street in his hometown and first thought he was being scammed lmao until he saw pictures of After School on the walls at Pledis HQ.
(cute baby bugi)
-JR is the only Leader from a Pledis group who IS NOT the oldest member in the group (he is the 2nd oldest, Aron is NU’ESTs hyung born in 1993)
-JR was called the ‘Male Kahi’ during debut
-His first MV appearance was pre-debut in Orange Caramel’s “Bangkok city” giving him the nickname ‘Bangkok city boy’
-All of NU’EST + S.coups appeared in After School Blue’s “Wonder Boy” as backup dancers!
(Aron and Ren made their first appearances here)
- Aron rejected a place to study journalism at New York University (SUPER HARD to get into) to go to Korea and join NU’EST
-Aron got almost full marks on his SAT’s, but he said he’s bad at math so he failed the math questions
(Aron in high school)
-Baekho’s stage name, meaning literally “white tiger” in Korean, was given to him by UEE, because apparently he looks like the character Kang Baekho from Slam dunk Manga lol
-NU’EST debut song “Face” was the most viewed kpop debut on youtube for years, and is still the most viewed kpop Boygroup debut MV all of time (almost 70m now)
- NU’EST “Face” was the best selling debut album of 2012
- During their debut, NU’EST was the group with the youngest overall age
- JR is the Youngest Kpop Leader ever to debut (at the age of 16)
Kid Leader —–> to Nation’s Leader
-NU’EST is the ONLY group ever where the Leader and Maknae are the same age! (Born 1995)
(baby Jren ❤️ )
- Besides JYJ, NU’EST is the only boy group where at least 80% of the members are the same age.
-JR and Aron have been writing rap lyrics for some years now (maybe 2014 or earlier) but in early 2016 their style changed drastically with the release of “Q is”. Baekho showed his composition skills and dream teamwork with Bumzu.
-In the “Canvas” album the members were involved in every aspect of it, JR Aron Minhyun Ren and Baekho all wrote lyrics. Baekho was heavily involved in composition, Ren’s cousin made the album art (the illustrations) and Ren also helped in Styling and Minhyun wrote the song “Thank you” for loves.
-Minhyun’s ultimate inspiration are ot5 TVXQ, his favourite song is “Love in the ice” and his Bias is Xiah Junsu
-You likely already know, But Ren’s ultimate inspiration is Lady Gaga, like her he wants to be a strength for his fans.
-The song that helped JR get through hard times when he felt like giving up is DOK2′s “On my Way” when you listen to lyrics is clear how he relates to it
‘I have long ways to go and many walls to climb over
It has been eight years but everything is still the same
To make my dream comes true, still I’m on my way’
-In 2017 4 members of NU’EST joined Produce 101, they were the trainees with the most debut experience
-Aron did not go onto Produce 101 because of a leg injury. He stayed at the dorm and waited for them to come, cooking food for them when they did.
-Minhyun is the member of Wanna One with the most debut experience
-On the PD101 final, instead of the show trending on Korean search engines, “NU’EST” and “Kim Jonghyun” trended no.1 and no.2
-NU’EST is the only group to change their name/ become a unit (NU’EST W) because 1 member is not present.
-NU’EST W is the 3rd group ever to get over 100 million hearts on v-live
-’Hello’ has been nicknamed ‘Zombie-seyo’ because of the many many times it managed to climb the chart so high after so many years, peaking no.3 on melon on the night of pd101 final
-NU’EST W got their first no.1′s on charts with “If you” a song written for Minhyun
-Despite not even having a comeback yet, Korea and internationally NU’EST’s rise has been trending
-They have been crowded “Reversal Icons”
-Lastly, when Minhyun comes back, they will be 7 years old, and will likely become the group who took the longest time to get a win on a major Music show (assuming fans stay and make them stable for Minhyun’s return)
I made this to show you how long NU’EST have been in the industry, how long they have been chasing their dream.
I hope you learned something new about NU’EST! they deserve the world for their pure talent and all they have gone through, Please support them from now on <3
Minhyun is a resilient, brave and motivated individual who always strives to be the best version of himself that he can be. Minhyun is a champion who works hard to overcome stigmas, replacing comments like ‘worst dancer’ to 'he dances really well!!’ He is diligent, diplomatic and most of all pure at heart; Minhyun’s kindness knows no bounds.
There’s a reason he gained so many fans whilst on Produce 101 and it’s not just because of his visuals but because he overcame adversity and he fought and he showcased his talents elegantly. Even when he falters and he stumbles, Minhyun gets back up again and carries on. It’s what he always has done. Minhyun knows how to handle difficult situations tactfully so that there is the best outcome for everyone, not just himself.
Minhyun thinks about others a lot and his selfless nature is what the other NU'EST members have always appreciated. He gives to others more of him than he even realises. He’s thoughtful and considerate but most importantly-Minhyun is always positive. When things get hard, he goes headfirst with a positive attitude. In NU'EST, he is the 'happy virus’. He is a beacon of light and he shines radiantly, whatever he does.
When Minhyun is upset, when something is bothering him, it’s not always obvious but sometimes there are tell tale signs. He might go quieter or he might come across a little reserved…but he doesn’t bottle things up because he knows he’s loved and he knows he has people he can turn to. Minhyun understands himself well. He can keep himself together even when he’s having a hard time. It’s not that he doesn’t want to show weakness, it’s more like he doesn’t want to burden others by showing an unhappy side, so he channels it healthily into exercise and hobbies. When he is alone, he can unravel himself and simply 'be’ and that’s why he likes going to movies alone or reading novels quietly in his room.
Every so often though, he will seek the company of a friend and that’s when he turns to the other members. Minhyun likes playing games with the other NU'EST members and watching movies with them and learning more about musical composition with them and joking around with them and eating ramen with them and going on spontaneous adventures with them and learning new languages with them and-
Minhyun needs all of NU'EST.
Even though he initially became a part of NU'EST, somewhere down the line NU'EST became a part of him. Knowing that promoting in 'Wanna One’ means being away from the other NU'EST members isn’t just sad because he’s being away from his brothers, but he’s going to be away from those people he has leaned on for support for the past 6-8 years. Ever since they were trainees, Pledis Boys worked hard together at a young age and formed a strong, honest bond of love and compassion for one another. Promoting without the NU'EST members, being apart from them for 2 years will be like losing a huge part of himself…and to be the leader of another group? It’s inconceivable especially when Minhyun has only followed JR diligently since the start.
The only other time Minhyun cried so openly is when JR wrote a letter during a Japanese live about how sorry he was that he hadn’t done enough for NU'EST and ㄴㅇㅅㅌs. Minhyun cried then because JR was vulnerable, upset and feeling shameful about his lack of leadership when Minhyun knew all too well how hard JR works for everyone. Minhyun doesn’t cry for himself, he cries for others. Seeing the people he cares for and loves deeply suffer hurts him most.
Minhyun cried today, not for himself but for his fellow NU'EST members.
Today, we saw Jonghyun, Minki and Dongho eliminated from the final Produce 101 season 2 line up whilst Minhyun achieved 9th place. Minhyun cried not for his own achievement but because he had to stand there, alone, whilst his fellow members cheered his success on whilst hurting inside. He was miserable because he felt like he had cheated them by succeeding even though we all know how hard he worked and how well he has done to gain more recognition. He felt like he didn’t deserve to be there without the other NU'EST members. He was vulnerable today, the most vulnerable we’ve ever seen him.
Minhyun doesn’t do crying…not unless someone he loves is suffering.
If you’ve supported NU'EST and Minhyun so far, I hope you’ll continue to support them all, whatever the uncertain future holds. Let’s continue to help ALL of NU'EST rise. Purchase and stream their songs on places like Mel0n and Genie, buy physical copies from places that contribute to the Hanteo chart, watch their music videos, share their music with others, share your experiences with NU'EST with others-just use this opportunity to spread as much love about NU'EST as you possibly can because during this fragile period, this is the best thing we can do.
Let’s prevent Minhyun from suffering and crying again…let’s not let any of NU'EST have a reason to cry again…
NU'EST fanmeeting 1 or 2 years ago Vs Todays fanmeeting😭 Finally after 5 whole years they were given their first offcial lightstick and had their very first Love Ocean today! JR said in the past their family could never see them perform in Korea (bc theyve never had a concert there) but today his dream came true as his noona was there💜 THIS GLOW UP IS SO HUGE THE BOYS DID THIS FROM 100% THEIR OWN WORK AND I AM SO PROUD OF THEM FOR NOT GIVING UP! Now we just need to give them their 1st win and Korean concert!! Lets make NU'EST (W) RISE ONCE AND FOR ALL!!
Why ‘NU’EST MTV Diary’ re-airing after 5 years is actually bittersweet: As it was originally cancelled because no one watched it
When I first heard the news of Nu’est’s diary airing after 5 years, it brought back some bad memories for me. I didn’t have any SNS so back then I didn’t watch it, but even watching it the first time about 4 years ago….the shows ending was very sad.
It was during Hello era, to put it in context because this was Nu’ests third comeback (despite already being 1 year old) A LOT of their young and frankly immature fans left because they hated the image change from Charisma to mature almost-ballad.The public loved it but the young fans weren’t keen. Also the fact that other boy groups had many comebacks while NU’EST were put in the basement with no activity for months, so despite being literally one of the biggest debuts in K-pop EVER, they fell off the map. Of course after that Pledis shipped them to China and Japan making things even worse, but let’s just talk about MTV diary right now.
The worst bit is that the boys were told roughly the show is canceled because no one watched it.
I was mad the staff told them roughly as if it was their fault! Other rookies in 2012 like EXO and B.A.P had surpassed them despite NU’EST selling more than both those groups combined the previous year, because of Pledis’ lack of funds and bad management.
Minhyun and the others joke around and pretend cry, but especially in JR’s eyes, you can really see the pain of no one watching their show.
You need to understand that this was almost 5 years ago, Nu’est have been struggling for so many years. Honestly, what can I say? It was one of the biggest downfalls ever, and none of it was their fault.
But JR as always probably blamed himself for the show not doing well- although now he is happy, Jonghyun still has these memories of failure as a scar on his heart.
In the press con. for his 1st variety ‘Night Goblin’ despite being the Maknae he said he’d take responsibility if the show didn’t do well. Making me have serious flashbacks to MTV diary being canceled. I hope he can give himself a break now, not everything is this fault he needs to see this.
It gets even sadder. They still have so much hope, they scream from the top of a hill their wishes to make it in 2013. Knowing how things got even worse for them after 2013 makes this really fucking hard to watch.
I just needed everyone to know that people watching and talking about MTV Diary, the show that was a failure 5 years ago, is a really big deal. I can’t think of another group who had their rise so late into their career.
Honestly, this show being viewed a lot now feels like some sort of symbol for NU’EST’s potential rise.
Dear NU’EST, I’m sorry you’ve been through more pain than most could bear, I’m sorry you didn’t hit the jackpot in 2013, 2014, 2015 or 2016.
But I am praying with all my heart you can finally hit the jackpot in 2017!
