So, lately Supernatural-related stuff has been clogging my dash something fierce. Now, don’t get me wrong, I love the show–it’s just that most of my friends in the C&Q Fam are HUGE, prolific SPN fangirls.
Which is usually, BTW, pretty freaking cool.
Still…that means not only is there constant fanfiction smut, and head-canon arguments, and endless “battles” over who’s-hotter-sam-or-dean (hint: they’re both hot and y’all thirsty as hell,) BUT any time anything SPN-related happens, I see the SAME POST over and over and OVER again as they reblog it from and to each other.
And while I may like to see something the first time, by the end of the day it’s like
It gets to the point that Tumblr’s recommendations page ONLY shows me SPN stuff, despite the fact that 90% of what I ACTUALLY LIKE & POST is not SPN-related. And I just–
And yesterday, after the 800th reblog of Jensen’s (admittedly adorbs) little girl, I FINALLY reached my limit. I’m done.
Now, obviously I’m not going to block or unfollow any of my darling friends, because
–but I need some breathing room.
So, I blacklisted SPN.
Not only that, but ANYTHING around it–so no Jensen, no Jared, no wifeys or childrens, no cons. I even went back and specifically added crowley-is-my-homeboy‘s “Dean Winchster” tag with no “e” (which I’m assuming is an inside joke?) juuuust to be safe.
Over 30 different tags got blacklisted.
And for a few minutes of scrolling, I thought I’d done it. Posts of OTHER THINGS were getting through! I was seeing stuff about things I’d almost forgotten I liked, because I would get overwhelmed with SPN before I got to it.
Hooray! I was free!
I WAS WRONG. I HAD NOT STOPPED THE SPN.
All that blacklisting only CUT DOWN on the massive volume of Supernatural posts I see. Now, instead of Dean/Jensen every other post, it’s every third post.
So I was like, “Okay, enough, I’m going on Pinterest instead.”
GUESS WHAT FUCKING PINTEREST KEEPS CHOOSING AS MY “RECOMMENDED” PINS???
Yep. You guessed it.
And so I was like, “Fine, that’s fine, I’ll go on Facebook.” Even though, you know,
at least it doesn’t do anything fandom, right?
GUESS WHAT FACEBOOK’S SUPER SOPHISTICATED ALGORITHM KEEPS SHOWING ME IN MY FEED? THAT’S RIGHT, KIDS!
Basically, there is no escape. Supernatural is everywhere.
So, in case any of you out there were thinking about trying to get out–DON’T BOTHER.
