just-the-best-in-general

Long ago in days of yore when it was only Gen 3, I invented the Fire Ant Pokemon. Only becuase I’m not a biology buff I Never actually looked up ant species to make my critters more interesting and unique becuase hell, I’m not Gamefreak, I’m not even Bogleech. I just do the best I can with my general average joe knowledge of creatures. Even if I have to make up the knowledge.

Like I don’t know if Ants have a pupal stage, but I couldn’t resist giving Larvava a tiki-like volcano pupal stage becuase it’s such a cool and unique design.

Magmant and Volcaneen are admittedly sort of obvious ideas but, hey, they work, right? We didn’t have divergent evolution proper until, I dunno what was it, Gen 4? So this was a unique idea back then.

MICRO FIC MONDAY WINNER <3

Ohhhhhhh~ my! (-O wO-) i know i’ve done some fantasy/fairy tale AU type pieces before, but i just LOVE this kind of AU! XD i don’t know why! hahahaha!!! I also relished the idea of doing fire lighting! <3 <3 <3 this weeks winning micro fic comes from @moonwalkingcrab :

“I thought Knights were supposed to slay dragons, not work for them.” The prince lightly hopped down from his horse, hand running through his hair as he approached the man in shining black armour. “And I thought Princes were supposed to rule kingdoms, not burn them to the ground.” The knight dropped his helmet, advancing on the man. The prince smirked, “What can I say, I’m not exactly traditional.” The knight reached to cup one pale cheek, “How do you feel about princesses?” “Not my thing.”

EEEP! love it!!! <3 <3 <3 i know this can be interpreted as a meet-cute kind of scenario, but in my mind i see it as these assholes just teasing each other and being ENTIRELY too self-congratulatory - eager to devour one another - totally high on the thrill of crushing their enemies! HAHAHAH!!! XD But only @moonwalkingcrab can say what they had in mind when they wrote it!!! ahhh… this one was fun! LOL! i actually meant to keep it really simple… but then i got carried away! LOL!

Anyway! thank you all again for taking part! every week is a joy! <3 I hope you’re all enjoying your weekends and that i’ll see you all tomorrow at 3:30 PDT for this weeks MFM!!! <3 <3 <3 <3

Just a friendly reminder that we fans are the faces of our respective groups. Please remember that we can leave such a lasting impression of a group to another person who merely watches from the sidelines! Prime examples of this would be how people view the BTS boys in almost a negative way due to the immature actions of ARMYs and this was the case for EXO-L’s in the beginning, so to NCT stans, rookie stans and just stans in general. Please remember to try and put your best face forward and to get pulled into petty fanwars! I know you love these kids with all your heart, I do too but don’t let them down by saying nasty things about another fandom’s group just because they did so to you. I know it’s hard but trust me, if you act like this, your group will acknowledge it and treat you with so much love and compassion that’ll really make a difference.

Hi there! So my main character, a secret agent, is an abnormally intelligent girl. She's the best her agency has ever seen, and just in general crazy observant/analytical. I'm writing the story in first person...but as I would not consider myself as intellectually strong as she, how should I write for her without sounding like she is all knowing/not leaving any mystery for the reader? She definitely has obstacles and challenges throughout the story, but still. Thank you so much!

The first thought that came to mind was to read a Sherlock book. Sherlock is known for being that kind of crazy analytically intelligent but he still has to work to solve some mysteries. Don’t just read the book, really study how the author makes Sherlock work as a character. If nothing else try watch one of the many film/TV incarnations.

I also found an article written by the screenwriter of The Imitation Game, Graham Moore, called How to Write About Characters Who Are Smarter Than You. It’s definitely worth the read but to summarize the point, you have to treat the character’s intelligence the same way you treat a mystery. All the pieces of the puzzle have to be out and available to the reader but it’s only put together into a solution by the character. This way the audience feels like they had the same data to use, the same fair shot, nothing thrown in just for the hell of it, but the character was the only one smart enough to make sense of it. Your character is analytical so she would be able to see the same thing that everyone else sees but make the connection to other pieces of information. She isn’t all knowing, she knows the same thing we all do, she’s just better at figuring out what it means, even if it takes a little more research or evidence to put it together.

For the past 4 months none of my asks have been answered cmon

Aw friend I’m sorry! Maybe they’re been answered but they got buried in other posts??  Or maybe they’re things that could easily be found using the library/tags/other resources??  I know that this is probably frustrating but we try to answer any legitimate questions we get :)

is it a BPD thing or just a thing in general to constantly check when your fp/best friend/partner was last online so you know how many times they didn't message you? I feel like I'm 100% obsessed with people I'm not even majorly fussed about so it's even worse when I DO care. I also get insanely jealous if they interact with others that aren't me, especially if they share something with me (like a funny video) AFTER they've shared it with their other friends. it really gets to me :/

Yesyesyes, this is very BPD. I do this A LOT checking when they were last online, how long ago I messaged ect

Man At Arms tackles the Space Sword!

Ok but for real

I have been roleplaying for 9 years and never in my time as a roleplayer have I seen an entire fandom stand up together to protect those receiving hate!

You are all so beautiful and good and kind and I think I can safely say that this is the best fandom I have ever been in.

I mean probably the best fandom in general.

Hate is just so intolerable in this fandom and everyone is good and kind and pure. I have PTSD, anxiety, depression, suffer from nightmares, and fear sleep. I am a massive mess and roleplaying is hard for me and it’s rare I don’t cry about my roleplaying.

I haven’t cried about roleplaying since I joined this fandom. I cried last night because I couldn’t believe that I had 100 followers and now everyone is standing up for each other like decent human beings.

I am so so proud of all of you! I am Papa ic and ooc and let me tell you my heart has swelled with happiness and pride today.

I’m actually happy here, well and truly happy. I can’t begin to tell you just how amazing it is to not feel like a nervous wreck 24/7 and just…to feel loved and wanted

Thank you. Thank you all so much.
Blessed be!

Now what? | 1981 | Mar & Mary

It’s been a few days after she had her argument with Charles and Marlene was still upset. He didn’t even say he was sorry for divulging her private life to Mary when she specifically asked him not to. It was such a sensitive topic for her that she truly couldn’t believe that he had the nerve to actually tell Mary about it. Couldn’t he see how much it affected her? Or he just didn’t give a fuck? He was so selfish. Garret had told her that she shouldn’t have punched him which made her a bit upset, because he knew what it meant to her, but then Marlene came to terms that Garret just didn’t like violence in general, particularly when his best friend was the main target.

Charlie didn’t attend to this meeting, Marlene didn’t know why, but she guessed he was on a mission or something. However, Charles’ girlfriend was there. As usual, she ignored Mary, she wasn’t in the mood to deal with her. She sensed that something was different, probably Charles had told her about her punching him, but she didn’t give a fuck.

Once the meeting was over, Marlene greeted everyone and remained a little bit longer talking to Alastor about work, but when the wizard was gone, she noticed that someone was still there, glaring at her more precisely. She rolled her eyes at Mary, not even bothering on hiding her annoyance. “Do you plan to keep on staring at me the whole night?” She asked with heavy sarcasm.

What are your favorite early PLL Episodes? I know it's not a theory question but I'd love to know

1x04 is one of my all time favourites. I think it’s such a simple but compelling episode. Actually, it’s the first and one of the only episodes to ever creepy me out. When Spencer finds the broken potted plant (that Wren had brought over when he was drunk btw) all arranged into a grave on her counter? Like? That fucked me up. I just imagined finding that in my own house and it was terrifying. And it’s the same episode I think where someone (presumably Mona) writes on Spencer’s mirrors, I think it’s “IT’S WON’T BE THAT EASY” written in lipstick and it’s after they had blocked unknown numbers on their phones and I don’t know. That just really shook me lmao.

Honestly, I was a huge fan of Season 3, especially 3b, but just Season 3 in general, I think it was the best season for sure
