Yuri on Ice 2017/02/11 all night event report

I’m back from the event and I’ll write a report before going to sleep, mostly because I’m sure I will not be able to decipher my scribbles when I wake up… It’s not the full talk show since you can’t record it and also I couldn’t possibly write down everything, but I tried to take note of most things, especially stuff that has never been mentioned elsewhere. In the end it became quite long so I guess I was able to get most of the stuff down…

Needless to say it’s my notes, so other people might write about parts I omitted, etc. To be honest quite a few of the things they said especially in the beginning, like what the seiyuu think about their characters, is something I’ve read so many times in interviews that I could almost answer in their place, lol… I was a bit disappointed that one of the questions that was answered is the one about Chris’ mysterious acquaintance, because actually Kubo answered that in Pash already (it’s in the Q&A part I’ll be translating later), and I hoped they would feature questions about stuff that hasn’t been explained yet. Well I guess not everybody reads interviews, but still…

Due to the format of the report you can find my comments here and there, mostly in brackets.
Under the cut because it’s long.

I forgot to mention something important: the ones participating in the talk show were Mitsurou Kubo, Toshiyuki Toyonaga (Yuuri), Junichi Suwabe (Victor), Kouki Uchiyama (Yurio).

Finally got around to watching ep 5. Late night Haikyuu!! practice sketches! Athletic and dynamic bodies are so fun to draw. Also the entire cast of Haikyuu is so handsome (ಥ﹏ಥ) if I tried picking a favorite I’d end up listing everyone… And that’s why… I ended up drawing so many different characters for just a sketch dump LMAO oh well.

So I Just Watched 2 Straight Black Men React to YOI.

And they ended up thinking it was pretty okay. Neither are figure skating fans, nor would they have willingly sat down to watch it, but they didn’t have problems with it. They believe that episode 7 had a kiss, that ep 10 was an engagement. It wasn’t all “no, they can’t be anything but bros!” It was just a simple thing to them.

Victor likes to be naked around Yuuri, and likes touching Yuuri. Ergo, he must be into Yuuri. Yuuri collected Victor paraphernalia and lets Victor touch him so much, so he must like Victor. Simple.

They liked the Victuuri relationship development.

“Yuuri and Victor’s relationship seemed- you know it worked. It didn’t seem forced.”
“No, it wasn’t really forced because you know, the timeline between Victor and Yuuri felt legit.”
“Yeah. It didn’t seem like a weird like you know how-” “MONTAGE!” “-you know how other shows happen and they meet each other one time, they look each other in the eye and be like, you gon’ be my bae for the rest of my life! And then it’s like, I’m like, it’s not- that never happens!”
“‘Til death do us part-” “"You gotta know people!” “-is for crap casuals.”

They call Chris ‘Ice Jizz Guy’.

They both rated it.

8/10 and 9/10 Not skating fans so they didn’t have much to connect to, but they both agreed that for the type of anime it is, it was ‘pretty cool’.

Very open minded, and I still can’t get over how they didn’t try to claim everything was just bros being bros. And that they were pretty perceptive even if they didn’t understand everything they saw and heard.

2016: The Return To Anime

I used to watch a lot of anime before, but when I moved away from my friends whom were fellow fans of Japanese animation, I became really bad at taking any initiative to sit down and watch anything new. So my New Years resolution was to simply watch more anime during 2016 (for inspiration and entertainment)! ;D And in order to prove to said friends that I am indeed keeping my promise, as well as to take the opportunity to recommend good shows to others, I will be sharing my progress list and general opinions.

OBS: Some of these shows are not appropriate for an younger audience!! Before viewing, please check out  the recommended age restrictions, genre and potential trigger warnings!

END OF YEAR UPDATE: 25 shows in total! Not bad at all considering that I maybe watched 2-3 shows the year before. But I still have a lot of series that I want to see, so don´t be surprised if I make a new post for 2017. ;)

My personal top 3? I would say Death Parade, Re:Zero and Madoka Magica.

ANIME COMPLETED:

Mushishi (S1) - Not a single cliffhanger in the whole show, so it makes for  perfect bedtime stories for teens/adults. The english dub was really good and the landscape art is 10/10.

Kino No Tabi/Kino´s Journey (S1) - Do not let the simple and cute style fool you! This show contains murder, cannibalism, suicide and war!! And it asks the hard questions in life!! RUN if you do not want to contemplate the meaning of existence!!

One Punch Man (S1+3OVA) - OK, now I know why this is in 4th place on IMDB´s “Best TV-series” list. The animation is some of the best I have ever seen in an action anime! It is simply stunning to look at and it is fun ride all the way to the out of this world (literally) finale.

Sakurako-san No Ashimoto Ni Wa Shitai Ga Umatteiru/Beautiful Bones: Sakurako’s Investigation (S1) - Pretty much like an anime version of the TV-show Bones. I love mysteries where you have to follow clues in order to solve a murder so a second season is strongly desired.

Owari No Seraph/Seraph Of The End (S1+S2+10OVA) - Pretty predictable, but the the bloody fight scenes are fabulous. Needs even more angst thou (…she said even though a bunch of children are butchered in the very first episode….). >:3

Death Parade (S1) - And there is all the angst!!! Do not watch if you do not like pain in your soul!! Heart cannot be repaired!! AHRUM!! Excuse me. The show is really well written and the artists really knew how to create the perfect atmosphere to tell this dark story.

Free! (S1+S2+4OVA) - It feels like everyone and their grandmother has seen this show, so of course I fell on the bandwagon. For the first 11 episodes thou I was very neutral to it… But goddammit the first season finale had me sheering, squealing and tearing up!! (Let Rin be happy!!) Sadly only the S2 OVA had me laughing; apart from that episode, the humor was not at all up my alley.

Zankyou No Terror/Terror In Resonance (S1) - I really like the style and the smooth animation in this one. And DANG, THAT ENDING! If you like thrillers that are completely based on reality and science (like Beautiful Bones) then this could be perfect for you.

Wolf’s Rain (S1+4OVA) - I remember trying to watch this when I was like 15, but I never got past episode 3 for some reason. Which is a real shame because I think that I would really, really liked it then. Perfectly angsty and tragic for little wannabe-emo-teen-me. Do you like dark fantasies with pretty people/wolves? Then do not miss out on this one!

Mahon Shoujo Madoka Magica/Puella Magi Madoka Magica (S1+1 movie) - Oh shit. Oh holy shit. I would never have guessed that this show, this thing that looks so darn innocent and cute in design and summary, would have me in so much emotional turmoil (very much like Steven Universe in that way). But seriously; amoungst all of the animes on this list, this is in my opinion the one with the most captivating story-line, plot development and characters (I simply had to watch all 12 episodes in one sitting). Some people hate the ending, but I think it worked really well (even though all the tears could have clouded my judgement). And if you liked the show, then you MUST watch the movie Rebellion! Also: One of the the best English dubs I have ever heard in my life!! UPDATE: I have now seen everything twice… I cry every times I see Homura on screen. (O_Q)

Kuragehime/Princess Jellyfish (S1) - I watched this before when it first came out but I had a hard time remembering anything from it apart from the characters. Glad I gave it a re-watch because it´s super cute and silly; perfect for when you just want to give your feels a break from all the angst and suffering other shows come with (*stares at the one above*). I also highly recommend the live-action movie based on this! :D

Boku Dake Ga Inai Machi/Erased (S1) - This show is both intriguing and stunning! I love how modern animation uses lightning and this show is a good example of that (same goes for Death Parade). Downside: Stress, stress and even more stress!! Please, just let the small children live!!! My heart cannot take this torture!! D,,X But the stress aside, it was all worth it at the end.

Jigoku Shojo/Hell Girl (S1) - My Golb, the young girls in this look exactly like the characters I would draw at 14-16. X,D The animation is just okay, and it takes a long time before we learn anything worthwhile about the main characters. But what made me watch a whole season (26 ep) was because of the interesting stories in each episode. It was fascinating to see how little/much it was required for people to give up their souls for eternal damnation in return for the death of a person they hated.

Steins;Gate (S1+1OVA) - It took me a while to get into the story, but by the half way point, when shit got really intense, I was waaay hooked. I usually do not like stories that involve time-traveling because it makes my head hurt, but this (Like Madoka Magica) was really well written. I have very little to fault the show on ((apart from how the harassment of a trans girl is used for comedy in at least 2 episodes…)) and would recommend!

Love Live! School Idol Project (S1+S2+1 movie) - Decided to watch something really cute with sis again and this is what we ended up with. And oh darn it, it is cute alright! Everything is so sugary sweet and lovely, and good music too that you will hum on for weeks. Apart form the occasional funky looking CGI (which actually looks really good in the movie), the animation is top notch. A simple story about a bunch of girls and their lives and friendships when guys are not in the picture.

Makura No Danshi/Pillow Boys (S1) - Finally met up with my anime loving friends and this was one of the things we saw. The episodes in this are very short, all of which are about different types of guys talking to YOU before you go to sleep. It´s… different to say the least. Who was my favourites? Hmmm… I guess the guy from Ep 2, since I recall him the clearest. He also felt like someone who had known me for a while and I appreciated that. WARNING: Ep 10 did give me some extreme rapist vibes! BAD TOUCH!! (O_O)

Koutetsujou No Kabaneri/Kabaneri Of The Iron Fortress (S1) - If you like bloody action of high quality with humans fighting against superhuman enemies then this is most surely something for you. Many parallels can be pulled to Attack on Titian, but I would never call this a rip-off. All the animation is in the A+ class and there is this wonderful colouring/lighting effect they sometimes use for close ups which makes the characters look absolutely stunning. The level of details on the character designs also stuck out to me (A+ there too).

Shokugeki no Soma / Food Wars: Shokugeki no Soma (S1+S2+1OVA) - Also known as food porn. I had never heard of this until Dan and Phil mentioned it in a video and when I understood that it was about food I had to check it out. I love shows/stories that are centered around cooking (Hell´s Kitchen, Master Chef, Kitchen Princess, etc) so I really got hooked on this. Not only is the food animated beautifully, but you learn a lot at the same time. And the absurd (dirty) humor is so redicoulus that I cannot help but laugh.

Re:Zero Kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu / Re:ZERO - Starting Life in Another World (S1) - When I first saw posters for this show they never caught my interest. It looked so much like the generic fantasy harem anime that I just ignored it. But then a friend forced me to actually see it and BOY was I wrong. Let me put it this way: Imagine Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni but with a higher budget and set in a fantasy land. So if you enjoy blood, gore and mind games, check this baby out!

Ghost Hunt (S1) - I know that I had seen this anime when it was new, but apparently I never saw the final episodes of the season since I had no idea what was going to happen. But glad that I saw this again! Not the scariest or goriest show out there, but it is fun and entertaining. My favorite part is how all the characters get along even though they have different beliefs and ways of dealing with the unknown.

Psycho-Pass (S1 + S2 + 1 movie) - Everybody were recommending this show to me and I understand why. There is detective work, blood/gore, and some kick-ass action; just right for me. However, I am not into all the tech porn (you know - when the put so much time and focus on weapons and other technology when they open up, charge, fire, etc. Not my thing!), but it was still a good anime. The only downside was that I felt very little when characters died, which was strange since I usually get attached very easily and morn fictional characters on a regular basis.

Mayoiga / The Lost Village (S1) - Oh maaan. I was expecting something along the lines of Battle Royale, but this was nothing but a big disappointment. There was so much potential in the first episodes for this to become the next Another or Corpse Party, but nooo. Lack of death aside, I guess it had it´s creepy moments, but the finale was not worth the wait in my opinion. I was actually so upset by the final twist that I sat down and basically created an alternative version of the story. Same basic structure, characters, feel and pitch, but with a more classic psychological horror plot. I would also have put the focus on other characters over the two basic cardboard cutouts (I vote for Valkana and Nanko!).

Corpse Party: Tortured Souls - Bougyakusareta Tamashii No Jukyou (5OVA) - I had seen this before when it first came out, but since I am still in a Halloween mood I decided to give it a re-watch. Totally one of those shows that I cannot look away from (not only because I need the subs, but you know what I mean). Spooky details all over the place blended with intestines and body horror. I may not be a big fan of the Elfen Lied-wannabe character designs, but I would totally watch it a third time when I once again forget the ending. I was so shocked that all I could do was to stare at the screen while the credits passed by.

Mira Nikki / The Future Diary (S1) - That moment you like the premise and concept of a show, but dislike the main characters. Damn that moment. It could be that the English dub makes the protagonists seem more douchey than what they actually are in the oringal Japanese version, or it´s just that they are both written poorly (IMO). But I like the background characters and there is some genuine tension throughout the show, so I watched it all.

Yuri!!! On ICE (S1) - I had been looking forward to this since the first trailer, so it was really really hard for me to wait until all episodes had aired before I had a marathon. But gah! It was worth it! There are no cliffhangers no, but the show just makes you feel so warm and fluffy that you want to see more right away. It is a sports anime, but the characters and relationships are so well developed that I would say to give it a chance even if sports isn’t for you. You will still fall in love with everybody and you just want them all to win gold and be happy!!

PS: Oh dear brother of mine, if you are reading this, be prepared for an anime night next time we meet. You and Jorge will love this! ;D

BONUS:

Kimi No Na Wa / Your Name (movie) - Hands down one of the best MOVIES I have seen this year. Well made, a story that pulls you in, heart-wrenching and beautiful music. This is totally up there amongst Wolf Children and The Girl Who Leapt Through Time and I will definitely be showing this to all my friends, no matter if they are into anime or not.

Summer Anime 2016

This summer we have so many anime with an all-male cast, I was so happy I decided to to a rec/ranking/review/summary. Note: I only watch anime with mostly males I’m sorry it’s just what I like lol so this list may not match yours. (I cannot stand female leads - except maybe Gintama? - because they will escalate into romantic relationships and they annoy me to no end. It’s like the only purpose of females is romance and I hate that.) And a warning is that I’m kind of shallow so I normally look at the guys’ looks and then their character. But good character and relationship developments are definitely essential to me too.

1. Fukigen na Mononokean

I’ve rec it so many times I feel like I’m part of the official publicity comm but it’s really good :) My favourite character is Abeno cause he’s really adorable and tsundere (?) haha. If you like youkai, friendship and touching moments, do try this out!! It’s a little similar to Natsume Yuujinchou too.

2. Servamp

It looks really interesting so I watched it and when I saw the OP I screamed cause all-male cast! Compared to Spring 2016 this season does look more appealing to me. And I’ve ran out of anime with all bromance (other than sports anime) and no romance. So anyway for Servamp, Kuro was a really cute cat, and the setting seems interesting enough for me to chase. I feel like I might not like the main character as much though but we’ll see.

3. Fudanshi Kokou Seikatsu

Ahh this is really cute I can relate so much to the main character as a Fujoshi myself :D and I can hardly find friends who can fangirl with me. It’s really sad to be embarrassed for liking gay ships ;n; The only bad thing about the series is that it’s too short each episode haha.

4. D.Gray-man Hallow

I’ve read the manga but didn’t understand most of it. Still, it’s likeable and I like Allen and Kanda. I felt like this season they beautified all the characters and Kanda definitely looks better with his new hairstyle/fringe :DD I hope they can animate most of the manga and I hope we can finally understand what is going on with the 14th.

5. Handa-kun

I just watched the 1st episode today and all I can is that it’s really good and hilarious omg. Only it’s too short with the first 9min trying to break the fourth wall and I couldn’t understand the humor at all. Still, the rest of the episode was worth it! Can’t wait for the rest!

Finding “The End XX”?

Because of The Lost Special update, with the header saying “The End- XX”, I decided to do a quick word search of all the times ‘end’ appears in The Final Problem:

“Kills you in the end.”- the security guard about Eurus’s violin playing, and Sherlock replies that it’s “still beautiful, though.”

“What advantage did your moral code grant you? Is it not, in the end, selfish to keep one’s hands clean at the expense of another’s life?”- Eurus to John after she’s killed the governor’s wife.

“And here we are, the end of the line.”- Moriarty’s video message playing while Sherlock aims the gun at Mycroft.

And then, why not do the rest of the s4 eps for completeness ;):

The Six Thatchers:

“I mean, we were at the top of our game for years. And then it all ended.”- Mary about her time in ‘A.G.R.A’

I don’t like loose ends. Not on my watch.”- so says Mycroft ;)

Oh. I knew it wouldn’t end like this. I knew Moriarty made plans.”- just before Sherlock watches Mary’s DVD.

The Lying Detective:

By the end of this, you’ll be free to go, and don’t worry, by the time you’re back in the outside world, you will not remember any of what you’ve heard.”- Culverton during his “TD 12 meeting.”

“Presumably you downsized when you… when you left your job and maybe when you ended your relationship.”- Sherlock to the woman he believes is Faith.

So, when I tell you that this is the most dangerous, the most despicable human being that I have ever encountered, when I tell you that this, this monster must be ended, please remember where you are standing, because you’re standing exactly where I said you would be two weeks ago.”- Sherlock to John after interrupting his therapy appointment.

“We’re going to have endless fun, Mr Holmes, aren’t we?”/  “Oh, no. No, not endless.”- conversation between Culverton Smith and Sherlock.

I think you slightly gave away the ending.”- John to Sherlock after Sherlock describes the ‘Blessington the Poisoner’ case.

“The third, of course, will be the end of a walking cane.”- Sherlock boasting to Culverton about the number of impacts in the footsteps he will hear as Faith approaches.

Funnily enough, you know where ‘the end’ doesn’t appear? At the ‘end’ of The Final Problem, the ‘end’ of series 4. Because it’s not the end. ;)

About Yoi ep 1 (while knowing what happened at ep 10,11,12)

EDIT: Added more things thanks to the last eps!

All of this has spoilers so read with caution.

Hello everyone! Let’s talk about the chronological events of Yuri on Ice because we now know that Viktor was in love with Yuuri since the GPF gala everything in the anime has a new way to be seen. All of this is what information the episode one has given to us.

First, the order of dates in the chart are based on the actual figure skate season (of this season irl in specific) and dates told inside the anime. This in order to have a better idea on when each event is happening.

Thanks to Yuuri’s very brief and concise explanation of things we get what happened in his skate season till March (the day he got back to Hasetsu).

Seven Things About Supernatural: 12x11 - “Regarding Dean”

Let me begin with the caveat that I prepared myself for this episode thus:

Not pictured: the communal emergency ice cream.

In my defense, the wine was for @treefrogie84, but I did finish the dregs so that she could have, you know, a work night, and I did several shots in rapid succession about 2/3 of the way though the ep.  SO.

  1. Hey, so y’all remember when Dean took a depressing shower in 9x18, and we reblogged it for years because wet Dean is nice to look at?  Yeah, Dean riding a mechanical bull in slo-mo is this year’s shower, and I a-fucking-okay with that.

And really, let’s just take a moment to appreciate that a) the bull’s name is Larry, b) Dean was canonically an “amazing” rider, c) so amazing that he also had some kind of sexual experience with an on-duty waitress afterward, d) this all goes down at a place called The Pickle Jack Shack, and e) and that montage ends in Dean falling back on the bull, sensually – as if spent – to the words “my son you’ll be a man.”

Because you guys, that right there?  That thing where Dean is totally unapologetic about either experience, and is not put off by Sam pointing out that the bull’s name is Larry and then not being like, “OKAY, BUT FOCUS ON THE CHICK” is possibly the queerest thing that has crossed my screen in the last 48 hours.  If you’re not reading dean as bi/pan/queer – and probably a versatile power bottom – I am not sure what I can do to convince you at this point.
  2. I think a lot of us went into this episode expecting the memory loss Dean experiences to be chronological, when really it was multiple waves of degradation.  It starts with a period of unconsciousness and a blackout of the night before, and then progresses from simple forgetting and difficulty with basic things into increasing helplessness and innocence.

What’s interesting is that Dean himself never really goes away.  He loses his sophistication and a lot of his affect, becoming more and more innocent as he goes, but his moral compass and drive to help others never disappears.  There are things that are in Dean’s nature that are shaped by nurture, but they’re always there.

He’s silly.  He loves what he loves.  He does not like being a killer.  He does not like arguments in which the ends are supposed to justify ugly means.  Even when he is losing everything up to and including his name, these things are true.

(Incidentally, the mirror scene is where I started drinking in earnest.)
  3. Ooh, this is an interesting ep for Watching While Pagan.

    - The glyph Gideon (whose family appears to be Irish based on their surname, though given names are a bit wonky) uses is ogam.  Ogam is an Irish alphabet developed in either just before or right around the time of Christianization in Ireland.  The alphabet was later popularized by the Welsh “Druid Revival,” which was separated by centuries from actual druids in the sense of the priestly/scholarly class among ancient Celtic language speaking peoples.  The “language of trees” stuff is also a late invention by Robert Graves; most ogam are not named for trees or associated with them necessarily in older lore.

    - The characters of the glyph written strangely in the sense that it’s got diagonal feda on two axes, while the ogam alphabet only has diagonals going in one direction.  It doesn’t make sense for the reversed diagonals to be read alone – they’re the same fid! – and vertical ogam is traditionally read bottom to top.

    - Ignoring orientation issues, the characters are (from bottom to top) MUIN - neck, trick; GORT - field, garden, MUIN (again); and NGETAL - wound, charm.  From right to left, IPHIN - sweetness, and UILLEND - elbow.  As a collection of things, it’s a reasonably coherent charm because it twists/bends, works with the physician’s skill, ruins the garden with tricks, etc.

    - Also, “ancient Druid” is not a language, and Celts were not a homogenous group but a broadly dispersed collection of cultures and peoples who shared a language group.  SO.
  4. I have not always been a fan of Rowena – her early arc was uncomfortably familiar to me in bad ways – but I really loved her in this episode.

In terms of the present she’s learning to adapt and thrive on her own terms, fnding new and satisfying ways to make her way – including, apparently, playing high-stakes poker in the most atmospheric server closet ever – but we’re also getting more glimpses of her as a whole person with a history.

More and more we’re seeing Rowena as someone who has survived as an underdog, who has been rejected over and over because she wasn’t what other witches considered worthy.  She’s still not the greatest of witches – Catriona Loughlin immobilizes her relatively easily – but she’s still got significant skill, especially if she’s got good documentation at hand.  She’s also got some regrets, and a grudging respect for the Winchesters’ work and world view.

I’m tempted to say that Rowena is becoming Sam’s Crowley in the sense that she’s the one he hates to need when things are happening that he lacks the esoteric chops to handle.  Also, like Crowley, she’s got the measure of the boys well enough to leave Dean a series of progressively more hilarious notes in the Impala.

Also, she gives her poppets googly eyes.  GOOGLY EYES.  That alone is Witch Goals, frankly.
  5. Lots of really excellent brother moments, mostly at Dean’s expense. Sam takes him to task and gives him shit for what looks like a deeply irresponsible night, is amused/smug/teases him about not remembering “blowing off steam” with Elka, etc.  The Post-Its are also great, because they’re this simple gesture that highlights Sam doing his best to be helpful and protective.  Dean may win, though, simply for having the sheer gall to prank Sam with Rowena’s help.

Also, did anyone else get the impression that Dean remembered his ordeal afterward?  Because the BM scene at the end made it seem to me that he did, or at least had some strong impressions of what happened.
  6. Okay, but can the record reflect that this episode put Jared’s supports for waffles over pancakes into Dean’s mouth?

(From Houscon 2016 - video starts at 13:34)

    Audience Member: “PANCAKES OR WAFFLES?”
Jensen: “Pancakes or waffles?  Again, solid question.  I’m gonna go flapjacks.”
Jared: “And true to form, I’m gonna go waffles.  You get more syrup to surface ratio on the waffles.”
Jensen: “This is why pancakes: waffles catch the syrup.  The syrup spills off of pancakes and onto my bacon.  ‘Cause maple bacon?  Come on!”
Jared: “Bacon wasn’t a part of this conversation, Jensen!”
Jensen: “It is now!  And you know it’s always a part of the conversation.  Bacon’s never off-limits.”
Jared: “Waffles – waffles are like several little bowls –”
Jensen: “This is not a debate!”
Jared: “You can dip your bacon in the waff–”
Jensen: “I just said that maple syrup blends with the bacon.”
Jared: “I can use the bowl of syrup to pick up the bacon.”
    Jensen: “I hate your face.”

    Meredith Glynn, we salute you.
  7. If you want to do yourself significant personal injury, go listen to and/or read the lyrics to “Broomstick Cowboy” and think about Dean Winchester.

Bonus Thing: KUMA.  KUUUUMA.

Bonus Thing #2: So are we entering tonight’s roofies-that-were-not-roofies into the litany of ways in which the show has talked about sexual assault with men as the targets?  It’s ambiguous – it’s a pretext, not reality – but as the conversation continues between Sam and Elka, you see her shift from ha-ha, these guys are dicks to oh shit, oh shit, this guy got hurt and I maybe hurt him too.  That was…uncomfortably real.

Bonus Thing #3: Dean Winchester will man the flashlight.  Good job, Dean.
