just wanted to draw some feels

Hey Guys

So I’m gonna be away for a bit, I wont bore you with the details but I have some real world issues that need my attention and I feel tumblr, and several others sites are distracting me.

But dont worry, i’m not leaving forever. Just for a bit. Like three weeks, maybe a month. It sounds like a bit, but time flies after awhile.

I also want to take this opportunity to thank everyone for following me so far. I meant to do a bigger thing for getting 500 followers, but the those issues I was talking about kinda got in the way of that. And its also the reason why a few of projects I’ve been meaning to work on (Lincpool and Ask L3) Have been stagnant for a bit. And honestly I shouldn’t have tackled them when I had bigger problems to deal with. Though I always had time to take requests (To those who I still owe requests too, don’t worry, I’ll get those done when I get back just PM to remind me.) and talking to you guys have gotten me through some of these tough times and I don’t feel like I can ever really truly repay you all for that.

I’ll probably miss some stuff, but I’ll probably catch up when I get back. You folks just keep on truckin’ and drawin’ and writin’ and Memein’ and whatever the hell else your doin’ on here. And I’ll be happy what did while I was gone.

Until then.

Hey, I am a big fan of your art <3 Although it's really not my business, I just wanted to let you know that I happened to find your art reprinted by someone and there were no credits in that picture (only your watermark on picture but nothing else in description). I feel bad if others reprint without permission because you artists spend lots of time drawing those wondeful pieces of art and if people just take your pictures without your permission. I hope they had but I'm afraid they didn't have

thank you :)

also thanks for telling me about the reposted things. I receive some of message telling me about the repost stuff. the people who do repost, especially one from tumblr, they do repost on tumblr again, is super rude.

I feel like it’s a waste of time to ask them to take it down, I’ve send some of message or reply on the post but the re-poster didn’t respond at all. so now all I do is straight to reporting the blog to tumblr, I hope tumblr will do something about it.

I hope people respect artist a little more, it’s kind of tiring to write all the stuff about no-repost stuff but in the end it’s still going everywhere, it’s like what we said is like an empty air.

thank you for people who didn’t repost art without permission and who didn’t support (like/reblogging) from those people.

because really, seeing people support them is neither fun nor makes me proud, it’s kinda devastating too.

i receive your link and just straight to report them :)

anonymous asked:

what are some really important pointers you have for people who want to make animatics?

this is probably gonna be a bit long so just a heads up i guess?? also please note im not a student for anything in art and am not a professional i’m just giving out my opinions on this and things based on my own experience.

  • do thumbnailing

you don’t always have to start it with the actual frame and the drawing for thumbnailing doesn’t have to be good. this is just to let you have a feel of what you want for the final frame. it also doesn’t have to be digital you can just doodle it in some paper you found lying about. this is also good for parts of your animatics where there’s lots of movement(like dancing!)

thumbnailing is also good for parts where you have multiple ideas! doodle all your possible ideas and see which one is best for that scene

  • perspective/angled shots

these are super cool and can help with the atmosphere of the scene! for example:

they also just look really nice and interesting and fun

  • landscapes and backgrounds

you can’t always have just a bunch of people gathered around all in one frame, you gotta show the setting of the whole thing

this also allows for your characters to move around more! don’t always make them flat like this though(this doesn’t mean you can’t do this, just don’t do it all the time)

grab a ruler or if you don’t have one like me, zoom out completely and try to make straight lines(they don’t rlly have to be perfectly straight though! but don’t make them too slanted either)

and if you have sai, free deform it and set the perspective to 100% and then just mess around with it!

also remember to add buildings/furniture/etc if needed!!

  • do dynamic poses

these help the facial expressions of the character! a lot of people seem to just concentrate on just the face for emotion but body language is also important!

you can throw in some perspective into this as well!

  • make a LOT of frames

as mentioned above, movement is very exciting!! and you can show movement with those frames. it doesn’t even have to be a lot of movement like one second they were there and now they’re in an entirely different spot, subtle movement is also very good!

try not to reuse the same frame too much! it might end up looking very awkward

also try not to just erase and add things to the body of a character as if it were some kind of paper doll stuck to a wall like this:

it’ll end up looking very stiff and awkward. instead, just redraw the character completely! make them move around a bit

you don’t always have to make things super clean

you don’t have to do clean lineart, just doodle a frame and make it easy to read for everyone on what’s happening. especially because drawing hundreds of frames is already so time consuming and not to mention stressful. do yourself a favor and not tire yourself out more than you should.

that’s kind of all the pointers i have. hope this helps!!!

I haven’t animated in so long??

Some real nice art

Take a breather, Tumblr. You made it to another Friday. We hope that means it’s time for you to sit back and relax. We found a bunch of artists making really precious art stuff for all of us to enjoy. Let these blogs soothe your weary, end-of-week eyes.

Fuzzy Yellow (@heyfuzzyyellow)

What’s Fuzzy Yellow? Fuzzy Yellow is just like, this yellow, fuzzy friend whose defining characteristic are that they are who they are and they’re happy with it. Fuzzy Yellow, and their creator Måns Swanberg (@mansswanberg), are all about being yourself.

Follow Frizz Kid for fuzzy feelings. They’re socially-conscious, and they’re making art about it. If you want a dose of aspirational social justice that comes in a perfectly square form on a semi-regular schedule…well, that is very specific, and we just so happen to recommend this blog right here.

Some people might never understand how a block of cheese product could give someone anxiety. That’s okay. Other people probably have their own story about how sometimes this stuff just happens. That’s okay too. This blog knows the importance of acknowledging your own struggles. To ignore them, or to pack them down to some dark, bad, unknown place is often the worst thing you can do for your own mental health.

Closer to Your World by @castleofklance

Self-indulgent doodles in between projects from the past few weeks.

I just really wanted to draw some stuff for CastleSL’s work! I don’t usually read fics, but this one was really sweet with great relationship portrayals between characters. It’s also fun seeing the team in the Galaxy Garrison setting!

Pls go read if you haven’t yet!

Photo study of the gorgeous @viria

Photo from her instagram: https://instagram.com/p/BOxHLWUhq67/

This is the first photo study I am very proud of. I often saw other artists draw photo studies and they often said it was relaxing or they did it to practise. It sounded so easy and when I tried it, I failed so hard. But I wanted to make one so bad that I kept trying. So the other day I got angry and was almost in my “I dont care anymore I just want to draw” phase and then I put on some loud music and just drew. In fury, but soon my anger transfered into energy and I felt good while drawing. I did not feel blockated anymore. It was just funny how furious and angry I was at first when I started to draw the portrait. And now all the negative feelings are gone. And it may sounds weird but I think I transformed my emotions and had a flow feeling as a result. So all in all, I am happy I kept trying. And that the result is good. I am happy. :3 A happy art potato. haha

“Stop talking for a second and just… let me tell you something.”

I had this idea about if Keith and Lance got stranded in space and for some reason the team can’t get to them or doesn’t know where they are, and they think they’re gonna die so they finally confess to each other. 😏

But then the team finally comes and rescues them and they’re forced to actually deal with their feelings.

-We all make up this world together-

I saw hate against some minorities today and wanted to draw this as a sign that we all should stick together, everyone of us is a part of this world after all.

Feel free to reblog this to show your support and as a sign that your blog is a safe space for everyone.

I’m just REALLY in love with this game, you know? (Mainly because it reminds me of Epic Mickey)
Anyway, I don’t really have any sort of story behind this other than I just wanted to draw some angsty Bendy. And yes, this IS a Steven Universe reference.

Also, random headcanon that Bendy’s “meltiness” largely depends on his emotions. He’ll start melting more and drip more ink faster if he’s feeling extremely angry/sad/anxious/any other negative emotions. And that he cries ink for some reason. Yeah.

GenjiCat & TPG (!?)

Hey guys! Per my last post - GenjiCat will run as a miniseries on TPG, updating Fridays. TPG’s regular comics will continue to update Sundays and Wednesdays.

I know Overwatch/video games are not everybody’s cup of tea, so this may be  weird for some of y’all! Just know that I only predict 10 or so more eps of GenjiCat before I run out of ideas, so it didn’t make sense to me to make whole new accounts and everything across all my websites.

In fact, let’s make that a formal promise: if we hit Ep. 15 on GenjiCat and I still want to make more, I’ll craft new accounts and separate GC from TPG :)

For now, If you don’t like GenjiCat, just ignore my updates on Fridays and thank you for being patient, tolerant beings!  After drawing TPG for 2 years straight, I’ve been feeling the itch to take on new projects, so this has been really fun and totally renews my excitement to draw comics every day <3 <3

I hope everyone else enjoys the lil dose of cute!

“I think we ought to live happily ever after,“ and she thought he meant it. Sophie knew that living happily ever after with Howl would be a good deal more hair-raising than any storybook made it sound, though she was determined to try.

"It should be hair-raising,” added Howl.

“And you’ll exploit me,” Sophie said.

“And then you’ll cut up all my suits to teach me.”

-Diana Wyne Jones, Howl’s Moving Castle

Painted on borrowed time so lots of messy details sorry argh >_<;;

One of my favourite Ghibli movies , and the book made me love it even more! <3 I was always afraid to draw fanart for it, because I kept feeling like I would mess up (and I did lol); well in the end I listened to some advice and just went for it aha.

Dysphoria Tips

To start this post off, not all of these tips will work for everyone! Everyone’s dysphoria is different and everyone has different things that help!

Also, I am not a doctor or anything like that! And I am a trans guy, so that’s what this is all coming from, I can try to look up how other genders deal with dysphoria, but I think a lot of these ones will also help other genders

- Showering (I know this doesn’t help everyone)
Okay, so I know it may seem like confronting your physical form may not be the right thing to do, and it might not be, but for me taking a shower/bath really helps because I focus more on the routine and what I’m washing than my actual body
Also! Using products that match your gender might really help!! I use the more “masculine” smelling products for my body and it’s super nice ^^ They also have products that are more “gender neutral” if that’s more your thing

- Do something distracting that you enjoy
For example, I love going on walks, drawing, writing, and gaming and any of things things could be distractions from things that you don’t want to think about! You of course don’t need to pick one of the things I enjoy doing, there are lots of things you could do like sports, blogging, listening to music, hanging out with your pets (they aren’t going to judge you!), etc.

- Find someone who won’t judge you!
I know this might be hard for some of you, but I know that I have at least one person to talk to every time I get upset about this sort of thing! My friends will not misgender me, and they will reassure me that I am a guy and I do pass, and all that good stuff! If someone is hurting you and misgendering you and not respecting you, you can cut them out of your life! You are not obligated to keep these people around because of their feelings
Pets can be used for this too! Your animals will never judge you :3 Hell, they probably don’t even know what gender is :D

- Find things about yourself that you like
This doesn’t have to be about your body, but it can be! If you take the time to think about positive aspects of yourself, you might feel a little better. And if you can think about the positive things about your body, like the color of your eyes or the shade of your skin, or how great your smile is, or how cool your hair was in that one selfie, it might make you feel a little better about how you’re feeling about yourself right now c:
If you don’t want to or can’t think about positive things about your body, try thinking about things you’re good at or things you like about your personality! Like how great of a person you are, how nice you can be, how cool you are, or how dedicated you are! Something like that!

- Treat yourself
I know not everyone can go buy themselves their favorite dinner or anything like that due to money, but you can do simple things like watch your favorite movie! Or just let yourself eat that expensive ice cream you bought last week :3 Curl up in your favorite blanket with that one pillow that’s just right, or put on that makeup/outfit that you love! It’s in the little things

- Try not to think about “passing”
I know this is extremely hard, but “passing” is just a social construct. Nobody “looks like a boy” because boys can look like anyone, and the same goes for other genders as well! This is definitely a hard thing to tell yourself, especially since a lot of people don’t get it, but it might help some of you!

- Find inspiration!
Find someone who you look up to, or who is transitioning/has transitioned. Some people (like me) might feel resentment at them for being further into their transition than them, but other might (and should try to) be filled with hope and positivity by seeing that things get better and that it is possible to change yourself into how you want to (or do) see yourself

- Look back
If you’ve already started your transition, look back to months, or years ago! You will be surprised at how far you’ve come
You might even feel more hopeful about the future after having seen how much you’ve changed since before

- Find people to talk to
Find people who are, or have been, in the same or a similar scenario; they know what it’s like and they may be able to help you! They can share what it was like for them and what helped them

- Just. Stop.
Seriously, if you can, don’t do anything that day. Sometimes, people just need a break or some time alone. So, if you’ve been saving up those hours at work, take the day off if you can! If you know there’s nothing important at school the next day, try to stay home and not put yourself through more stuff
Keep yourself safe and comfortable during your break! Maybe use this time to use one of the other techniques at the same time ^^

- Keep a diary
This might seem silly, but I keep a diary off and on and it really helps me! Sometimes people just need to open up, but not to a person
I named my diary Tina, so it kind of felt like I was talking to a person, though haha
Also, just getting all of this down on paper (or on the screen) might help

- Wear your favorite outfit!!
Find that outfit that makes you feel like a hundred bucks and wear it! It doesn’t matter if you’re staying in your house or going somewhere, wear that outfit and own it! Take a lot of pictures if you like the way it looks c:

- Selfies
Take selfies when you look hella good and how you want to look, so that when you’re feeling down and dysphoric, you can look back at your selfies and be like “damnnn I look hot”

- Workout
This might seem like a horrible idea, but I’ve heard that it works wonders! Just go get beefy or run into your legs feel like jelly
This might also help you sleep, which might help by getting rid of your thoughts

- Sleep
If you can take a nap, or just crash out, do it! You don’t have anything planned and these thoughts won’t stop? Go to sleep. You won’t be thinking of anything if you’re unconscious

- Avoid negativity
If you know someone is going to bring you down, avoid them
Same goes with places! If you know that a certain place is going to be negative or bring negative thoughts on, it’s probably best to avoid that place

- Drink ice water
I find that the painfully cold liquid can really wipe the mind with it’s shocking temperature

- Meditate
If you’re into meditation, or want to try it, I hear it does wonders to find that inner peace and just forget you have a body or end up thinking more positively about that body

- Watch your favorite show
Focusing on something you love, like a series filled with interested characters who aren’t you and find themselves in lots of situations can really take your mind off of things

- Burn incense or candles
Burn it right next to your bed (carefully tho) and make sure it’s a scent that you love! This way, if you don’t get out of bed, you can still have something to enjoy

- Read
Read a book, or a fanfiction, or anything that will capture your full attention, so that you have something better to focus on

- Modify your body!!
Like piercings, and hair dye, and stuff! Hell, even those temporary tattoos are pretty cool :3 This way, you can feel like you’re doing stuff to your body on your own terms
You can even just draw on yourself with a sharpie or something!

- Clean
Maybe just do some laundry or put things in neat little piles! Any amount of stress taken off will feel super good and also you might find that one outfit you lost months ago! (if you’re anything like me haha)

- Name and pronouns
Write down your name and pronouns on things to make you feel a little better seeing that that’s what you want to be called, and it can just be written down like that!
You could also ask some supportive friends to read them or just call you by them for no reason at the moment haha

-  Take up a new hobby
You could spend the time you spend being dysphoric, doing something you enjoy! Learn a new language, or learn how to do arts and crafts, or buy some gardening supplies!

- Save up money
Just stick some coins from the dryer in a jar and start saving up for your transition! It’ll make you feel like things are going faster than they are

And remember: You are valid! No matter what anyone tells you, or how you feel, you are valid! <3

SKETCHY BEHAVIORS | Heather Benjamin (RH)

Through her dense and detailed packed line drawings to her more focused ink brush pieces, Rhode Island based artist Heather Benjamin’s work is visceral, cathartic, and autobiographical. It offers a completely unapologetic and unflinching look into an artists’ own struggles with life, body image, self confidence, and sexuality.  We find her and her art to be inspirational, honest and badass.

We recently ran into Heather at her booth at the LA Art Book Fair and caught up with her a few months later to ask about her art, her experiences at RISD, her influences, and her thoughts about her work and her life.
