Ok so I have had this AU idea of like…. grumpy hermit gay mess Hanzo who basically looks like his hair is the pelt fur from his lone wolf skin because he could not care any less of how he looks, and he is that one neighbor who’s an asshole and never says hi or anything and lets his hellhound of a pomeranian go to other people’s yards and destroy them or shit on them.

He probably works from home and avoids all human contact that’s not necessary, except Genji because he is his lil bro! he only goes out when grocery shopping or to pay bills or hit the gym (look at those guns and pecs )

This Hanzo also sports the piercings he has in the winter comic and more less dresses up with the same style of clothes?? when he goes out that is, most of the time he just wears tshirts and sweatpants.

This becomes a McHanzo AU when Jesse moves in next door and finds Hanzo’s dog digging a hole on his lawn and decides to take it back to its owner and when Hanzo sees him he just “???????????? wow im gay af ??????????”

Basically this AU is Hanzo being the one smitten by McCree and trying to get close to him but being too socially awkward to do it properly and having like bad timings and freaking out and going back inside his house whenever he feels he has fucked up to which Jesse is oblivious and just thinks Hanzo is an interesting guy.

Hanzo tries to make it clear how gay he is without saying it by always using his Im gay mug that Genji gave to him as a joke…..just…boy….pls….Genji teases him to no end and as a way to encourage him, Genji says he will go after Jesse if Hanzo doesnt do anything about it which Hanzo is very aware could happen in the blink of an eye knowing how efficient his lil bro is when it comes to flirting with people, the guy has some unreal skills for dating.

but yeah thats all I got….. basically this is me wanting more McHanzo from Hanzo´s point of view, and having him less…uhh…far away and mysterious about his feelings? I want him being an awkward mess.

okay thats all Im sorry.

Bonus:

Just to make it clear for everyone, the Invader Zim TV movie is happening. The official Nick YouTube posted a teaser, and Richard Horvitz, the voice of Zim, confirmed it as well. Yes, Jhonen Vasquez, the creator of Zim, denied its existence, but that seems to be a joke tweet (clearly making fun of Trump’s tweet style), and Jhonen has had a notorious long history of fucking with the heartstrings of Zim fans:

can we not joke about taehyung’s english pronunciation or spelling??

it’s really clear that he, out of the rest of BTS minus namjoon, is trying to learn english. he’s doing really well with the language so far and namjoon has also clearly been helping him with speaking it. he’s gotten a lot better than before and to see posts making fun of his pronunciation or joking that he wouldn’t be able to spell is just rude.

english is a hard fucking language and korean singers have no requirement to learn it. they can if they want to like many do so they can talk to international fans. so for taehyung to be trying to speak english, and doing REALLY WELL, it’s a shitty thing to make fun of him.

if you make fun of idols for not speaking english well, you’re a crappy person. especially if they’ve made it clear that they are trying.

i love how sana’s season seems to tie in with the underlying disfunctionalities of friendships. from s1 julie always emphasised how she wanted to focus on teenage girls and their problems so she slowly established the girl squad who for the most part seemed to have this admirably strong bond, the girls were supportive of each other when they had boy or school or family troubles… but now that we see it all play out from sana’s pov we suddenly become aware of all the cracks, all the miscommunication, the constant little hurts that words/simply being ignorant/not paying attention to someone’s reactions to your comments can cause.

in the previous seasons we might’ve assumed that sana sometimes felt excluded but now we see just how much they don’t know about her private life. she had always come off as a girl who can’t be fucked with, a girl that is not phased by ugly comments or harrassment (the text on her locker) and who always has a comeback and can shake off any mistreatment easily. but now that we see the close-ups of her, there’s the sadness and the distance and those walls that never fully come down and how she needs to put back the brave/unbothered expression on her face every time vilde makes an ignorant comment or the girls plan an activity/order some food that doesn’t take sana’s religion into account and it must feel like a little cut that won’t kill you but makes you bleed. it’s the constant sores that you have to live with but sometimes new ones catch you unaware…

sana is so estranged from the other girls that she’s probably never brought them home, never talked about about her brother in detail, likely never talked about her religion with them and certainly never brought up how she finds all of these little things that occur daily so hurtful. i’m sure we’ll get there. i’m sure julie intends to show us that there’s only so much a person can take without breaking down/snapping/retaliating eventually. i hope we’ll see sana making them aware that inaction or assumptions/being inconsiderate are just as hurtful as straight out attacks on a person/their religion.

and we can also see that there’re many layers to friendships and even though the girl squad’s friendship may have seemed like a well functioning one at first glance, we now have an insight that noora makes up lies to get out of group activities, maybe bc she knows the topic of william will be discussed or she’s depressed bc of william, deep down she knows it’s over between them and the girls make it quite clear they want her to get over william. but she’s just not ready to move on and feels like she can’t talk to them about him. there’s always the offers from vilde or eva that they could set her up with someone, like being alone was unhealthy, like she failed somehow with william.

i’m sure the other girls also hurt. chris must hate how easily the others dismissed her breakup with casper, how they never bothered to ask what happened. just bc she tries to be a positive person doesn’t mean she never gets hurt when her relationship is taken as a joke or how awful chris feels when vilde looks in the mirror and exclaims how fat she looks and even though she knows the comment is rooted in vilde’s body dysmorphia it still feels like it’s an indirect criticism of her body…

we also know vilde basically got together with magnus bc of the others’ comments on how she was not getting any dick and who knows how triggering she finds it when noora reminds her of her eating disorder by pointing out something she eats (even if it’s just an ‘i’m proud of you’), it makes her question whether she should’ve eaten it or was it a jab that she’s eating too much?

or how eva hates the thought of jonas hooking up with any of the girls (yes, she’s over him but still, no) or how they sometimes jokingly say she has an alcohol problem, and yes, sometimes she gets that feeling that she’s being judged for being promiscuous. these may all seem like small things but they hurt

and then there’s sana who feels like an outsider in basically all areas of life except for maybe school (but even then it’s not the same for her - gym class sucks; she still gets the odd looks for wearing a different outfit). it’s the conversations about physicality with boys, it’s the food (’that pork with apples was delicious the other day’), it’s the parties where she’s the only one not drinking/smoking if noora is not there, it’s how they arrange to meet right when it’s prayer time for her and she never points it out to them, it’s the assumptions about her religion/family/values that she’s long stopped trying to correct… the list is endless.

so i really hope julie will educate us about many ways there are to be misunderstood, how to be better and more supportive friends, how not to dismiss the intricacies of every culture and religion, how to live and let live and be considerate and celebrate differences.

Don't Label Jin in BTS with Female Pronouns or Automatically Associate Him with Namjoon

Please, don’t call/or imply that Jin is a mom/wife/parent/princess etc.; claim indirectly that Namjin is the only Jinship; or automatically associate Jin with Namjoon as a default, because of these reasons:
1. Misrepresentation of Jin’s personality: BigHit restricted Jin’s personality because they wanted him to have a certain image as being cool, calm and collected until around 2016, when BigHit finally allowed Jin to act like himself. As you can see in recent videos, Jin is much more playful, outgoing, childish and loud. However, the label of mom still remains despite the fact that he doesn’t exhibit the stereotypical traits of a mom anymore. Cooking and taking care of the members does not automatically make him a mother. This is why I don’t want him to be called mom/wife/princess anymore, because you’re misrepresenting who he actually is. All the members say Jin ist the most childish.
2. “But the other members call Jin mom, and Jin has called himself it as well”: Yes, I acknowledge that this has happened; however, J-Hope and Jimin has also been labeled as moms. J-Hope especially have been referred to as the mother-figure much more frequently than Jin. Both J-Hope and Jimin have done actions that can be perceived as stereotypical mom-traits. Why does the label only stick to Jin? Plus they’re calling him uncle now.
3. The appropriate context: If you’re going to label someone as mom, at least it should be in a context where the member actually acts in a way that is stereotypically considered motherly. Instead often what happens is that Jin is labeled as a mother/wife no matter how unlike a stereotypical mother/wife he actually acts.
4. Double standards and hypocrisy: For example, Jin has nearly kissed Taehyung, Jimin and Jungkook but this is still considered a son-mom-moment, with comments like “Mommy Jin, what are you doing trying to kissing your son?”, “Cute mom-and-son bonding moment” or “Stop cheating on Namjoon.” This limits our perception of Jin’s relationships, because they are all reduced to son-mom-moments. If near-kiss-moments had been between any of the other members than Jin, the interactions would not have been interpreted as a mom-and-son-moment. But just because it’s Jin, his interactions are judged differently. In other words, there is a double standard on how Jin is treated compared to other members. It is hypocritical that Jin is judged differently.
5. Limiting the way we perceive Jin’s relationships: It also limits the type of relationships Jin is allowed to have, both romantically and brotherly. The mom/wife label is indirectly forced on people like me, when people continue to comment things like mom/wife. When people comment that Jin is “cheating on Namjoon” or “Mom Jin and dad Namjoon taking care of the kids”, people implicitly make it clear that Jin can only be shipped with Namjoon (even if it’s just a joke), and when people, even if they don’t bring in Namjoon, call Jin mom they are indirectly reinforcing the ship and the role Jin has.
6. Shipping: Worse is when Namjoon or mom jokes are used to promote their ship. Saying that Jin is “cheating on Namjoon” or imply in any way that Namjoon or Jin are in an actual relationship, dismisses Jin’s other relationships with the other members. and implicitly reinforce that Jin can not be shipped with anyone than Namjoon. This often happens when people don’t want Jin to be shipped with anyone else than Namjoon, so they make “jokes” and misgenders him because they don’t want Jin to be shipped with anyone else then Namjoon.
7. Indirectly/Implicitly preventing shipping: Saying things like “You can’t ship mom and son, that’s incest” and “Everyone already knows that Namjoon and Jin is married”, is a dismissive gesture, that is implicitly preventing people from interpreting Jin’s relationships in another way than mom-and-son. People hide behind this “joke”, to prevent Jin from being shipped, brotherly or romantically etc., with anyone else than Namjoon.
8. Stereotyping of Moms: “A stereotype is a preconceived notion about a group of people.” By calling Jin mom/wife, people are indirectly implying that making food and taking care of the members, is how a mom should/and is acting.
9. “But it’s a compliment”: Maybe people mean it as one, but it’s still problematic to perpetuate a stigma about moms, and implicitly about gender roles.
10. Gender roles and heteronormativity: By stereotyping Jin as the mother and Rap Monster as the father, people are implying that there needs to be a “submissive” and “dominant” in the relationship, often in relation with “femininity” (female) and “masculinity” (male). Instead of just being a relationship with two men, people are indirectly strengthening the perception that there needs to be someone traditionally feminine (female) and someone traditionally masculine (male). Even though I don’t believe anyone is intentionally intending to be homophobic or sexist, this is still a case of unintentional and internalized sexism and homophobia, that stigmatize and generalize people. This is heteronormativity.
11. Misgendering: About the princess/mom/wife label, Jin once corrected a fan when she called him princess, he wanted to be called prince. This can be applied to the mom/wife label too.
12. “But we know that he is a man, it’s just a joke”: Jokes can be problematic and harmful, and as I mentioned before, it still misrepresents Jin’s personality, stereotypes him and limits how we view his interactions with other members.
13. “It’s still a joke. Calm down. If you don’t like the comments, just ignore them.”: People are entitled to their opinion, but don’t tell us not react or tell us it’s just a joke, because we understand that it’s just a joke, but we don’t find it funny. Stop trivializing our feelings, perspectives and experiences and blame us for implicitly for being “too sensitive” and “not being able to take a joke” when so many people do not like that Jin is called mom/wife/princess etc. Our feelings should be acknowledged. We should not be marginalized and overlooked, and we need to speak up, because if we don’t, people will continue to call Jin mom/wife/princess. Stop misrepresenting Jin’s personality; stereotyping him; being hypocritical about how you chose to interpret Jin’s relationships/personality as mom/wife/princess when you wouldn’t have done the same with another member; and limiting how we view Jin’s interactions and relationship with the members.

Side note: English is not my first language, so I’m sorry if I didn’t articulate myself well enough. I made a post about this before, but this one is much more organized, and I added several points.

@directedbyzacksnyder first of all I would like to thank you for putting into words what I have struggled with.

In case anyone doesn’t know, Justice League director, Zack Snyder, recently announced that he would be stepping down from the project due to a family tragedy.

Snyder only announced this because knowing the internet he knew that if he had simply said he was stepping down, loads of bloggers and clickbait websites would have gone on to write inaccurate articles about how “Hack Snyder ruins the DCEU once again”, or “WB finally washes its hand of Zack before he creates another disaster.”

Over the years it’s become incredibly clear that critics and bloggers have used their opinion on Snyder to become nothing but massive jerks.

And in doing so not only have these bloggers, websites posted incredibly hurtful stories about Zack but they’ve taken it to a personal level.

Just yesterday I got into a huge argument with a Critic, who I once had massive respect for, because she decided to make a terrible joke about how she was completely confident that Zack Snyder hated his mother.

Look I understand that Zack isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, hey I consider myself a fan and even I don’t love all of his work.

But please, please, can we stop with the massive personal attacks on this guy. Snyder is a kind man who every single person who has worked with him has praised to the high heavens for being a gentleman. And many actress have said that if it wasn’t for him they would have quit acting.

He’s not a misogynist, or some Right Wing Ayn Rand obsessed psychopath, or some edgelord who wants to ruin your childhood.

He’s just a guy who has feelings just like us and that often gets forgotten about.

Right now Snyder needs some time to make peace with a family tragedy and a kind word could a long way. And if you can’t do that feel free to say nothing at all. You have already proven your character.

Part 2 of @vldangstweek: March 19th-Failure/Insecurity

Lance isn’t stupid.

He knows, alright. He knows he talks a lot. He knows he’s loud. He knows his voice grates, he knows he’s too exuberant, too desperate to be friends. He knows he wears his heart on his sleeve and shows it all too fast, too freely. He knows he’s just too much for people.

(That doesn’t stop him from wishing, though.)

He tries, sometimes. To be quieter, to be calmer, to be…less. He tries so goddamn hard, but it doesn’t matter because he always, always ends up reverting back to his regular self anyway. It doesn’t seem to matter what his intentions are, he always says the wrong thing, always takes a joke too far. It’s clear he just don’t know when to shut up.

(He can’t actually remember anyone telling him that in so many words, but it’s pretty clear that people think it, from the way they stop talking when he walks in a room, to how in group projects his suggestions are ignored, to his just total and complete inability to make lasting, meaningful relationships with people that last longer than a month before he’s inevitably replaced. He doesn’t blame anyone for it, though. It’s fine. He doesn’t really like himself, either, so it’s not a surprise when others don’t.)

Of course, that doesn’t make it hurt any less when he sees it happen. He’s still not really surprised, though, as he watches Hunk drift further away and get closer to Pidge and Keith. Sure, he’d…well, he’d hoped, for a while, and after the Garrison, where Hunk stuck pretty close to him, back when Pidge didn’t really want anything to do with them, he’d thought that maybe…but it didn’t matter.

He’s glad that Hunk’s finding people he cares about, who care about him in return, who don’t always say the wrong thing and make matters worse. If Hunk is happy, then Lance can’t begrudge him that. Pidge has been happier, too—more prone to smiling or making jokes, and less afraid to squeal over new tech she finds. How selfish would someone have to be to be bitter about that?

(About as selfish as Lance is, he’s discovered.)

Still, no matter how much it hurts, it’s still a relief, of a sort, to know that he was right. He hates not knowing what’s going to happen, and even though this whole situation really sucks and he might feel a bit like his chest is being crushed and his hands won’t stop shaking and his stomach feels sick and it’s late at night and he’s crying and he just can’t stop and it’s hard to breathe, at least he knows that he was right.

He’s a placeholder, you see. One of those characters in a show that exists only to serve as an old childhood friend that’s mentioned maybe once in a flashback and never again. Sometimes, when he looks at his life, as he sees everyone drawing away, he feels like he’s watching a movie—one he can interact with in some capacity, but not such that he has a lasting effect on the plot.

(It’s literally never occurred to him that when these people on his team and even his family tell him they care about him they mean it, because he while he can see how deeply they care for each other, it seems like a physical example of that old ‘sounds fake but okay’ meme from when his grandparents were young whenever they try to pretend to direct any affection towards him. It’s pretty clear they’re making it up as soon as they feel they’ve satisfied their daily quota, anyway.)

Lance is, and always has been, an afterthought. An “oh wow it might be awkward for just the two of us to hang out since I haven’t seen you in six months—maybe we should invite Lance, too, because he hung out with us back when we were all still living near each other and is pretty good at just spewing out enough words to keep it from being awkward” kind of thought. He doesn’t expect people to think of him, to try to reach out. He’s used to being the one to reach out, to try to get together, to reminding people that he exists.

Most days, that’s okay.

(Well. It’s not, but if it’s all he’ll get, then Lance will take it.)

Most days, when he watches people he hoped would care about him slip away, he can ignore it and move on.

(He can’t, he never could, but he lies to himself all the same.)

Right now, though? Right now, watching Hunk—Lance’s favorite person in the entire universe—draw away from him and grow closer to Pidge, who’s only rarely showed any sort of affection towards Lance, hurts more than he’d ever expected it could.

He can take Shiro not liking him. He can take Keith not caring about him. He can take Pidge’s annoyance, Allura’s dismissal, Coran’s lack of attention—Lance can take a lot.

He thought he’d be able to take when Hunk inevitably left, too.

(Clearly, he was wrong. Again.)

Maybe he’s not as smart as he’d thought, after all.

(If he was, then maybe he’d know what he needed to fix to get people to stay.)

(That’s the worst part, he thinks. He could at least try, and see if that helped any, if only he knew what it was about him that chased people off—it could be one of a thousand things, or it could be all of the thousand things, and Lance just does not know.)

But in the meantime, he’ll get up and smile and pretend it’s fine and he’ll watch as Hunk and Pidge spend more time together, and he’ll draw back and maybe this time the mice won’t scurry out of the room, and maybe he’ll at least have them for company.

(He just wants someone to stay, but he doesn’t blame anyone for leaving.)

Doctors Who Are Moms Say They Face Discrimination At Work

“If you become chief resident are you just going to get pregnant and have a baby?” asked the silver-haired male attending physician as I sat interviewing for the prestigious academic position of chief internal medicine resident. “That’s what all the female chiefs do, and I’m tired of it,” he added, shaking his head in clear disgust.

Gobsmacked by the blatant sexism of his interview technique, I laughed nervously and made some lame joke about working so much that I barely had time to see my husband, let alone make babies with him. Feeling absolutely professionally alone, with no good means of reporting the incident, I quietly pulled my application and plowed on through residency and life, eventually giving birth to a son at the very end of my training.

My experience is hardly unique: 4 out of 5 physician mothers say they experience workplace discrimination, according the results of a study published last week in JAMA Internal Medicine.

junebuggu  asked:

i... dont get all of this, really. the mcelroys have repeatedly explained that the graphic novel is NOT canon for the character's designs, and taako is literally blue because he is a magical elf? it was not made with antisemetic connotations, and not only that, but when was it ever stated that taako should be jewish. or mexican! in fact if they made them any type of hispanic people would get even angrier because of the names. why can't people just enjoy things?

cool! i’m happy to explain.

firstly, taako (named after tacos) who is on the quest to create the taco (established in here there be gerblins but not left there!) should be, or rather, better be, or rather, is mexican because if not, they are using a culture as a joke. that’s not alright! unless he is mexican, it doesn’t make sense for him to invent mexican food or have the name ‘taako taaco’

also, just so we’re clear: taako is a sun elf! they have “bronze-colored skin and hair most often of copper, golden blond, and black”. having him be green - or blue, or purple, or whatever - doesn’t make sense.

anyway, to the point of “people would get even angrier because of the names’ - why don’t we try actually asking these people who would apparently hate it even more? here’s one response, and here’s another. heck, here’s another. people wouldn’t get ‘more mad’ at all, because he’s not treated like a stereotype. here’s the thing, we shouldn’t assume. no one should just Assume that people are gonna hate a thing before they do it, especially in regards to like… representation. like that’s not their problem, it’s yours for not just asking them.

so, why can’t people just enjoy things? well, the adventure zone presented and continues to present itself as something that tries to do right by its fans, especially in the representation department. i wrote a thing about it here, at least in regards to race, but the basic thing i’d like people to take away from it is this paragraph

Saying ‘there’s no canon design’ for a character means nothing when the graphic novel, the merchandise, the posters, the zine - these all feature white designs. You can’t say you care about representation - how important it is to you - when you don’t represent anyone. You can’t say you accept all designs when the only ones that seem to be accepted all look the same. You can’t say there is no default when white is the default.

on twitter, @fraanziawhine made some really good points about how the representation in taz, like, works. and it’s not great. the mcelroys get praised for being empathetic, for being kind, but while i believe they try, they don’t ask for help with things they don’t know about - how to do race and lgbt rep for instance - and they do it wrong.

and you know what? it boils down to this: why are they more willing to make someone green than to make them brown?

fans of colour continually talk about why this is important, how to do better by us - and we do it well. regardless if we are ‘polite’ (spoon-feeding) or ‘angry’ (you know, like, the emotional humans that we are) we have repeatedly tried to get through to the mcelroys and say ‘hey, you might want to do this, if you’re so interested in doing it’.

taz celebrates its ability to bring all kinds of people together. however, it kind of seems like only a few kind of people are welcome.

Replaceable pt. 2?!

Lance knew that he was pushing it. He was slowly edging to the line, but he couldn’t stop. The team was having a meeting, something about forming an alliance with another planet. Lance wasn’t really listening. After the “talk” with Coran, he just felt worse. It was as if he couldn’t control his emotions or actions. He was on auto-pilot. So instead of paying attention to Allura, he was picking on Keith. “Honestly Keith, why did you choose THAT to be your hairstyle?” “Just to let you know Mullet, you were only the top of the class because I wasn’t giving it 100%. I could fly circles around you if I wanted.” “Please tell me your were forced to have a mullet. Or is it just a terrible sense of fashion? In that case, lemme help you. I’ll make you look ~out if this world.~” With any indication of how red Keith was turning, he knew that he was pushing it. But he couldn’t stop. With the alliance and the whole defenders-of-the-universe thing, the team had gotten stressed out, so Lance, as usual, swallowed his own feelings and did the one thing he felt confident in knowing he could do for his team: make them laugh and forget about their own problems. But this time, it didn’t work out that way. Lance was becoming desperate. Why weren’t they laughing? He could always make them laugh. Maybe just one more joke could do the trick, just relieve the stress and tension in the air. Lance cleared his throat. “Hey, Keith. What do-” Keith slammed a fist on the table, cutting him off. Keith stood up stiffly and turned toward Lance, face red with anger and eyes dark. Keith slowly raised a finger, pointing it in Lance’s face. “Shut. The fuck. Up.” He said dangerously. But he wasn’t done there, oh no. He had just begun. “Lance, for once in your damn life, will you take something seriously? This alliance is important for us, for Voltron, for the UNIVERSE, and here you are not paying attention, acting like an idiot! Are you trying to be funny? Well, you’re not!! You’re being annoying, and right now, you’re just being a nuisance!” Lance tensed at his words, his breathing becoming shallow. But Keith’s anger wasn’t finished. “You are supposed to be the pilot of the Blue Lion, apart of Voltron, and yet you can’t focus during one meeting?! A true Paladin would take these things seriously and pay attention! But here you are, acting as if thousands of lives are not in your hands. Do you not care about any of them? Care about any of us? Obviously not, because all you care about is making sure you’re the center of attention and getting a few laughs.” Keith narrowed his eyes and stepped into Lance’s space. “I thought I could trust you to take these things seriously, but obviously I misjudged you. You’re just an selfish, immature kid who only cares about himself. You’ll never be a true Paladin of Voltron, you are just, and all you’re every going to be, is a cargo pilot!” Keith spat at him. The silence after was deafening. Lance couldn’t move. Couldn’t breathe. Coran shattered the silence. “Lance, my boy?” That’s what broke him. Lance felt himself go hot, vision blurring. A sense of déjà vu washed over him and he turned and ran to his room. As Lance slammed his door, he pressed his back against the wall and slid to the floor. Sobs rocked throughout his body. He hugged himself tight, as if trying to hold himself together, but it wasn’t working. He was falling apart. Choking on gasps, Lance braced his hands on the floor, trying to ground himself and get a hold of reality. He tried to calm down, but Keith’s words pounded in his head. Cargo pilot, nuisance, selfish, annoying. The words repeated themselves, growing louder and louder in Lance’s head. His hands pressed against his head, gripping fist-fulls of his hair. He was hyperventilating, but he couldn’t calm down, his body wouldn’t let him. He was stuck there on the floor, drowning in himself. The tears came faster, becoming an endless stream down his face. He worried his lip between his teeth in attempt to quieten his breaths. He could taste blood. His ears began to ring, and the the edges of his vision turned black. He was going to pass out. Lance crawled to his bed and dragged himself up. With his face buried in the pillow, Lance finally gave into the darkness and welcomed the calm nothingness.

The whole atmosphere in the town was melancholy. It was a gloomy day for a gloomy cause. The memorial of Jason Blossom. Almost all of Riverdale had been invited, the reason being the Blossom’s were trying to single out who had killed their son. The memorial an excuse to do so. It was something no one really wanted to go to, but yet, everyone felt obliged.

Jughead paced around (Y/N)’s room, hands in his pockets as the lack of comfort of the suit urged forwards. He sighed, staring at his shoes as he waited for (Y/N) to come out the bathroom. A small ‘click’ of the lock caused Jughead to quickly glance up, and though the matter was depressing and sad, Jughead was taken aback by the beauty radiating from (Y/N). Jughead cleared his throat, looking back down at his shoes.

“You uhh… You look beautiful.” He mumbled, a light pink dusting his cheeks. (Y/N) smiled brightly, looking down at what they were wearing.

“Thanks, considering we are going to a memorial, however, I don’t know if that’s a good thing.” They joked, trying to lighten the dull mood. Jughead smirked slightly, looking up to meet their (E/C) eyes.

“True, but I’d just take it as a compliment.” He backfired, making (Y/N) laugh. (Y/N) eyed Jughead up, looking at him in a suit, something they had never seen in their life.

“You brush up quite nicely yourself, Jughead. I don’t think I’ve ever had the honour of witnessing you in a suit.” They grinned, walking up to him, and toying with his undone tie. “You still don’t know how to tie a tie?” They teased, causing Jughead to smile lightly. Whilst they began to tie up Jughead’s tie, he took the time to analyse their face. Noticing small details he hadn’t noticed before.

“If I had, I wouldn’t get to have you do it for me.” Jughead murmured quietly, grabbing their hand once they were done. Smiling up at him, (Y/N) reached up to place a gentle kiss on his lips.

“Well you’re lucky I do it willingly.” They smirked once more, going to pull away, however, Jughead swiftly pulled them back, wrapping his arms around their waist.

“Do we have to go? We could always just, stay here?” Jughead suggested, leaning into (Y/N)’s touch as they caressed his cheek. Though (Y/N) smiled lightly, they frowned too.

“As appealing as that sounds, babe, not going, would weigh us both down with guilt. I mean, Cheryl, as much of a bitch she is, needs support. Because she sure as heck isn’t getting any from her parents.” (Y/N) grumbled, looking down. Jughead noticed their turmoil, and gently cupped their chin, (Y/N) closed their eyes at the contact.

Jughead leant forward, resting his forehead against (Y/N)’s, and kissed the tip of their nose lightly. “Okay, fair point.” He whispered. “But I need you to help me out with something.” This caused (Y/N) to open their eyes, looking up into his gorgeous grey.

“Am I going to like this?” They questioned, pulling back slightly. Jughead sighed, looking around the room.

“No, but this is really important, you always help with the murder board, and this is something that’s going to benefit that.” (Y/N) thought for a moment, before deciding, whatever it is, may as well be worth a try.

“Okay, but nothing illegal.” They jokingly warned, but Jughead knew there was some seriousness behind their tone. Jughead embraced (Y/N) tightly, their head resting in the crook of his neck.

“No promises.” He whispered, causing a chuckle to escape (Y/N)’s throat.

“Come on, we have a memorial to go to.” They smiled, grabbing his hand and pulling him out of the door.

Canon Observations of Jyushimatsu

Canon Jyushimatsu is quite a bit different from fanon! Lets take a look at some of the things he’s done, what his canon personality is like, and some more!

  • When someone is upset he will do what he can to make them laugh or feel better - as seen in ‘ESP Kitty’ when Jyushi brings ESP Kitty over to Ichi to help
  • Will take charge/take on the leadership roll where he feels like he can, usually when its just him and Ichimatsu.
  • Stays calm in situations where he knows no one will be hurt - as seen in ‘ESP Kitty’ when Ichimatsu was freaking out about getting a shot
  • Tends to make dirty jokes or purposefully makes something sound dirty
  • In group discussions he tends to stay silent until his opinion is needed or things get crazy - seen in ‘ESP Kitty’, ‘Todomatsu’s Line’, ‘Accident?’, ‘It’s a Birthday Party, Dajo’, and many more.
  • Jyushimatsu will notice when someone needs his assistance or is feeling down/left out during a conversation and try to include them(Karamatsu being the exception when he is around the rest of his brothers)
  • He can voice mimic perfectly - as seen in ‘ESP Kitty’ and ‘Jyushimatsu Festival’
  • When he is absolutely serious he will stop smiling - seen in ‘ESP Kitty’, ‘Jyushimatsu Falls in Love’, ‘Jyushimatsu Festival’, ‘Kerosene’, and more
  • His mind tends to run off into it’s own personal conversation where he repeats words when having fun - seen in episode 3, ‘Accident?’, and of course the most common his signature ‘muscle, muscle, hustle, hustle’ chant
  • He will get serious when/if others get serious, and on his own when he knows he needs to be - seen in ‘Todomatsu’s Line’, ‘Mahjong’, ‘Godmatsu’, ‘Letter’, and many more
  • He is not constantly smiling and does show other emotions than “happy”; he is just as shocked or surprised or disgusted as his brothers are in weird situations - seen in ‘Godmatsu’, ‘Jyushimatsu Festival’, ‘It’s a Birthday Party, Dajo’, ‘Dayon Tribe’, amongst just a few
  • When asked to do something, you have to be clear on the instruction if he wasn’t paying attention. Ex: ask him to do the octopus hold he will do so on you, not your target unless specified because he wasn’t part of the conversation
  • He has funny meme like conversations with Ichimatsu - seen in ‘Todomatsu and the 5 Demons’
  • He didn’t get involved in making a mess a Sutabaa and embarrassing Totty; instead he helped clean up and cheered Totty on - ‘Todomatsu and the 5 Demons’
  • He has random outbursts of words or a word, but they’re not constant - seen in ‘Todomatsu and the 5 Demons’ , ‘Jyushimatsu Festival’, ‘Godmatsu’, Episode 3, ‘Jyushimatsu Falls in Love’, and more
  • When he lacks a clear focus, he is overly energetic and never loses energy - made clear in ‘Jyushimatsu Falls in Love’
  • When he has a clear focus he is much more calm and “normal”; his energy levels are not off the wall and it helps him be more observant, he puts all his energy into that focus - made clear in ‘Jyushimatsu Falls in Love’
  • He loves making other people laugh - seen in the majority of the episodes
  • He gets sad and angry just like everyone else, he just doesn’t show much emotion unless it’s a lot of one particular one - seen in ‘Jyushimatsu Falls in Love’, ‘Kerosene’, ‘Let’s Become Independent’, and more
  • He is a furry - seen in ‘Pachinko Police’ and ‘Teach Me, Hatabou’

These are only a few of his canon characteristics! When you look past the surface characteristics, you can find even more out about him! Such as he is usually joking when he acts like an idiot, theres a lot of times when he obviously knows whats going on but continues with his act(usually because he gets something out of it - like when Karamatsu kept asking him to keep him winning at Pachinko a secret)

I would also like to point out that there was only one episode(‘This Is Totoko’) where Jyushimatsu commented a lot about if they were playing baseball. Reason being? Totoko invited him to her place alone, so what did he expect to find? Him and Totoko, not Osomatsu also being there. He didn’t begin asking if they were playing baseball until Todomatsu showed up, because maybe Totoko actually thought about him and the fact that he would love to play baseball with everyone. The more people that show up, the more he’s convinced that this might actually be true, because he can’t think of another reason she’d get so many people in one place. This was the only scene he ever talks so much about baseball, and he had a justification for it.

So there you have it! Some Jyushimatsu facts!
