the thing about being a young woman is that they will take everything from you. and i mean everything. and they will make it about them. your makeup, your clothes, how much you eat. your attitude, your hairstyle, your gym routine. they will take your driving and your train stations and your video games. your sexuality as sexy, your gender identity as a fetish, your cooking. your tv shows and your high heels and every harmless thing.

if they cannot eat it, if it does not satisfy them, it will be an immediate shame. they cannot control how much you put food into your body, so it is seen as disgusting. your love of starbucks is your vapid need, your comfortable boots are symbols of your inherent stupidity. your fake nails, your body’s natural cycles, the hair on you. bath bombs, pink, the low singing of women talking about depression. your crazy, your hyper, your laughter, your loud, your excited, your passions. the things which are yours, that do not belong to them, that cannot be taken and devoured like flower petals, cannot be sucked dry until the wilt forms in you.

do not satisfy them. let them starve. let them shy from the sin of you, the unfettered sinfulness of loving taking up space.

Pre-ruffle, mid-ruffle, and post-ruffle Tenth Doctor Hair

David Tennant from the podcast commentary for Tooth and Claw (from the hair-messing-up scene above):

“I love the way Euros [Lyn, director] uses all these shots here to show the ideas all colliding at once

…and I love messing with my hair in moments like this, because it gives Steve, who does my make-up, a nightmare in continuity terms.

I like to keep him on his toes.”

Takama-Gahara here, I have for you a question. How draw good dergs?

Oh I’ve got you covered:

and there you have your  F E R O C I O U S    B E A S T

But in all seriousness, instructing people on how to draw imaginary creatures is a bit hard, for me at least. A lot of my learning process is based on winging it until it looks okay and makes even a little sense anatomically. I try to look at animals like birds, bats, reptiles, dogs and horses and combine traits of their anatomy into some sort of a mess of a creature. So I’d instruct you to simply start with looking into basic animal anatomy and trying to learn how animals actually work.

There are tons of tutorials that are way better at explaining things than I’ll ever be and they can get you started. Back in my day when I started drawing I was inspired by Todd Lockwood and his art. His creations gave me a good base to start building my art from. I studied the way he drew and shamelessly copied parts of his work until I felt comfortable enough to draw and try different things on my own.

Not being too ambitious when you start out is pretty important, do some simple designs, kinda like the drawing above. Just drawing some simple lizards with bat wings is a good enough start! And remember to practice, practice and practice some moreヾ(´▽`;)ゝ

“Skaters’ hearts are as fragile as glass…

yeah, i’ll always love you guys too :)

you know, if everything had gone to plan, Kara would have been in her mid-40′s by the start of the series (she was 13 when she left, around 20 years were spent in stasis, then another 12 years from when she got to Earth to when the series started).

So, when Astra saw the news circulating that picture of a girl who’s young, brown hair, and just flew a plane on her back, did she think Kara, or did she think Kara’s daughter?
