just tagging this thing to make sure you see it

miscellaneous tips for your first year of college/university:

academics

- try as much as possible to avoid 8 am classes. you could do it in high school, but trust me when I say you don’t want them in college. (but also realize that sometimes you have to take them if you want to graduate on time, especially if the classes are only offered during a certain time.)

- go to office hours. go to office hours. for the love of god, go to office hours. you want to be on good terms with the professors, especially those in your major department because chances are you’ll be in their class more than once and you’ll need a letter of rec from them.

- but if you’re trying to raise your grade, kiss up to the TA (teacher’s assistant). they’re the ones that are in charge of your grade, not the professor. they know you better because of the smaller class sizes and they’ll know how much work you’re really putting into the class.

- it’s quite possible the pull off writing a 5-7 page paper the night before it’s due and still get a good grade on it if you know the material well.

- address emails to the professor with “Hello Professor, …”, include the class you’re in, and conclude with your name and student ID number. be professional and keep in mind that the professor lectures to hundreds of students.

- bring a cold bottle of water to morning lectures and drink from it if you feel like falling asleep. the cold will keep you up (and it’s healthier and cheaper than coffee).

- library floors get quieter the higher you move up.

- if you want to take adderall, don’t start with a large dose. start with 10mg, see how you handle it, and go from there. adderall can be dangerous if you OD. some side effects of adderall include trouble falling asleep and loss of appetite.

- it’s in your best interests not to plagiarize. properly cite all the sources you use. maybe you got away with it in high school, but that shit won’t fly in college.

- study groups are only helpful and beneficial to you if everyone in that group has something to contribute.

- self control, momentum, and evernote are great productivity apps for your mac.

dorm life

- tide pods for laundry is so much easier than lugging down a bottle of detergent and a separate bottle of softener and then having to measure them out.

- if you’ve already washed your colored clothes at least once, you don’t need to separate lights from darks. just remember to use cold water. (I myself am a lazy fuck and I don’t sort my laundry at all. my clothes are fine.)

- ask your RA to get a clock radio for the bathroom (if it’s communal) so music can drown out the sound of the person taking a shit in the stall next to you.

- don’t be afraid to speak up if your roommate does something that is annoying you. approach them in a friendly way (chances are, they didn’t even notice it was bothering you) so that they’ll give you the same courtesy. communication is key.

- you don’t have to be friends with your roommate. you just have to live with them. don’t try and force a friendship if it clearly isn’t working.

- don’t be that asshole that hits their snooze button 10 times so their alarm goes off repeatedly.

- instant noodles = life.

- bring tupperware and hide it in your backpack so you can sneak food out of the dining commons.

partying

- don’t go to parties if you don’t like them.

- don’t drink any hard liquor that comes from a plastic handle.

- you should not be with friends that try to convince you to violate your morals.

- conversely, you should also not be with friends that judge you if you don’t share their morals.

- always. use. the. buddy. system.

- if someone passes out/falls asleep, lay them on their side, not their back. that way, if they throw up, they won’t choke.

- if you get to the point where you need an ambulance because of all of the drugs/alcohol you ingested, tell the medic the truth about the substances you took. they’re not interested in putting you in jail; they’re just trying to save your fucking life. (I can personally attest to this.)

- make sure the change your privacy settings on facebook if you don’t want your family seeing pictures of you with alcohol in the background, dressed promiscuously, etc. some friends don’t ask before putting up/tagging you in pictures.

sex

- to someone that has never had sex, it seems like everyone is having sex all the time and that’s all that matters, but trust me when I say that’s the furthest thing from the truth. don’t let the pressure get to you.

- use condoms even if you’re on birth control to protect from STDs.

- try to take a sex ed/human sexuality class. (the one I took was offered through the sociology department.) in universities as opposed to high school, the sex ed is more comprehensive, usually covers queer relationships (mine did), and does not teach from an abstinence-only POV. they’re very helpful even for those who have had a lot of experience.

- don’t expect people you hook up with at parties to be anything more than that - hookups.

- abstaining from sex doesn’t make you any better than someone who fucks a new person every weekend and being sexually active doesn’t make you “cooler” and someone who has never had sex. remember that.

- don’t use flavored condoms for penetrative sex; you could get a yeast infection. flavored condoms are meant for oral sex only.

- speaking of condoms, it’s really easy to get them for free. student health hands them
out like candy the first couple weeks of school.

- get tested first if you and your partner want to have unprotected sex. seriously.

free free to message me any more questions you might have about college/uni. I’d be happy to help/share from my personal experience or elaborate on anything I’ve said here. reblog and add more tips if you have them; I’m sure i haven’t thought of everything. have a great upcoming school year, freshmen!

hey everyone, welcome to the second annual week long celebration of all things jaderose! it’s the perfect time to make and share art, fic, fanmixes, meta, headcanons, au ideas - anything you want!

just tag all your jaderose content with #jaderoseweek or use the @ feature! if you aren’t sure where to start, check out the list of prompts above (put together by @rotten-spaceymage!), but please feel free to post any and all jaderose you make in the tag. the more the better!

if you have any questions, shoot an ask to this blog or my personal @ghostpressure. happy jaderoseing, and we’ll see you in june!!

Wow, our February week was really great despite the late notice, thank you so much to everyone who participated, followed, and liked and reblogged our Valentine’s Day content. This blog has surpassed 500 followers and that number is growing. So as a treat, I will be hosting Tomco Week 3 in March! Rather than following a set theme, this one will incorporate a variety of prompts so we get varied content from day to day. After that whopper of a finale, I think we need some lighthearted content.

Day 1 - March 12 - Dancing

Let’s be honest, we all enjoy a good dancing scene between our favorite characters. So give our boys the time of their lives as they dance it out, whether it be at a club, or a party, or maybe even prom or a ball or something. Any kind of dance, any kind of song, up to you!

Day 2 - March 13 - Favorite AU

Got a favorite AU? Or do you want to make up your own? Either way, get creative and show us an alternate universe’s version of Marco and Tom getting up to whatever shenanigan you please.

Day 3 - March 14 - Cultural Appreciation

Marco and Tom have their similarities, but I’m sure they also have some major differences when it comes to how their people tend to do things. Let’s explore that, whether it be through the holidays they celebrate, the foods they eat, or even just how they tend to greet a loved one.

Day 4 - March 15 - Cosplay

Oh yeah. Marco and Tom are a couple of dorks. Look me in the eye and tell me they wouldn’t cosplay. Who would they be? Haha, that’s for you to decide.

Day 5 - March 16 - Magic Practice

Star is a magic user. Tom seems to have magic as well. Marco is definitely getting involved in magical shenanigans whether he wants to or not. Why not have some fun and try to learn some things himself?

Day 6 - March 17 - St. Patrick’s Day

It’s St. Patrick’s Day, of course I gotta do a prompt for this one. How do they celebrate it? Partying? Do they get drunk? Or do they just watch other people goof off while staying a safe distance away and gorging themselves on hot wings? Note: If there is any drinking involved, please use the ‘alcohol’ tag for blacklisting purposes.

Day 7- March 18 - Horseback Riding

A favorite hobby of mine (even though I haven’t done it in forever). Tom uses a horsedrawn carriage AND he’s a royal, you can’t tell me the guy doesn’t like horseback riding. Have him take Marco on a trail! Is Tom using a skeleton horse or a fiery demon one? Is he making Marco ride a similar one? How does that go? The possibilities are endless.

I’m posting this a couple weeks in advance and will reblog it in a week or so as a reminder. As usual, the guidelines:

1. Please use the Tomco tag on everything you post for a week. You may of course use main show tags, such as svtfoe and Star Vs, since they are from the show, but just make sure Tomco is also tagged for blacklisting purposes.

2. You may also want to use ‘Tomco Week’ as a tag as well, just to make it easier for me to find your work. I’ll be reblogging everything on the relevant days.

3. You may post entries early, they just won’t be reblogged here until the relevant day comes up. Feel free to shoot me a message but odds are I’ll like it so I can find it later.

4. If you miss the day, don’t worry. I will reblog them as soon as you get it posted. Again, shoot me a message if I miss it. I’ll be tagging things by day for searching purposes.

5. I’m gonna say that NSFW is allowed, but nothing too explicit, please. I’m not going to check ages but if you want to post more mature content, just make sure it’s got the proper tags. I do want this blog to be enjoyed by all shippers, and some may not want to see explicit stuff. Let’s keep it tasteful.

I’ll accept fanart, fanfiction, cosplay, videos, heck, songs, whatever you wanna share.

Have at it, guys! :D Depending on how this goes, I may do another in April. Can’t miss Easter now, can we? But we’ll see~

Feather-set’s “A Better Me” Witch Bottle

This jar/bottle is filled with items and intents to turn the maker into the person they wish to become. It aids in following your talents, hobbies, and dreams and helps in changing yourself for the better.

For this jar, just fill it with things that symbolize the you that you want to become, and when you need a reminder and a push to chase that ideal, give it a good shake. Make sure to use a shatter-proof jar such as a plastic bottle.

My bottle has sea salt, black salt, chamomile, St. Johns Wort, hibiscus, anise star, rosemary sprigs, feathers, dandelion seed fluff, quartz crystals, cinnamon, sugar, cayenne pepper, and a nail.

I hope this inspires you to make your own! I’d love to see what you make if you end up making one, so tag me in your post if you do!

!!!

AA!! I am talking and I have a thing to SAY please read!!
GUYS!! I need your help with a thing, me and a few friends have been talking about it for a while and I wanted some opinion from the Tumblr Kids.
Y’see, we’re all tired of those fools who come to newbie artsy kids who want to share their arts in the interwebs and say stuff to them like:

(this one is a great example with all the “you NEED to” and “It’s NOT LIKE THAT”)

WELL we can all agree that is NOT constructive criticism and it SUCKS
SO! What we’ve been wanting to do is create a blog with ACTUAL support, advice and positivity for artists! Focusing on the young and the beginners!

I may be no pro but I’ve been really wanting to do something to help and support artsy kids, and I’ll have help from some other more experienced friends so I think on that part I’ll be fine, I’m just really nervous because I’m not sure where to start and I really want this to work out y’know??

So if you see this please I’d love some feedback and advice!! I want to make this happen but I can’t do it on my own!! Thanks in advance and have a great day <3

I am so, so, SO very sorry if this has already been asked before. I did some digging through your tags and I couldn't find answers for my particular question... So I apologize in advance if I just didn't do enough digging. I've had a lot of issues with dialogue sequences that go back and forth between two or more characters. I find myself repeating the same phrases such as, "he snickered" and "she cried." Eventually, I just end up using very convoluted word play. Do you have any suggestions?

What you’re asking about here are dialogue tags. There are two schools of thought: Vary the verbs, or don’t fret the “saids.” This is one case where the best practice probably lies somewhere in between. How far you go with different verbs vs. said is up to you as the writer.

There’s another way to break up dialogue, too. It’s my own personal preference, and that’s the use of descriptive beats, sometimes called dialogue beats, narrative beats, etc… This article here describes the two in more depth, but essentially:

Dialogue tag: “You don’t know what I want,” he shouted.

Descriptive beat: “You don’t know what I want.” He slammed the book on the table, knocking over Gena’s wine.

Both convey anger. Both can be “the right way,” depending on your characters, your style or the needs of the scene.

I tend to write my dialogue either without any tags or just minimal tags when I get started. Often, it literally looks like this:

A: “You’re a jerk!”

B: “Yeah, but I’m your jerk.”

A: “Can’t you stop being a jerk then?”

B: “Are you saying you want to dump me?”

Then, I try to block the scene (much like blocking a stage play) so that I know what the characters are doing, where they’re standing, or other cues that can help with the descriptions. Where no description is needed, I start with said, or asked and replied if appropriate.

Dialogue beats also help convey something I see a lot of new writers and fanfic writers shying away from, and that’s inner monologue. Your Point of View character can have thoughts during a conversation that can add insight or seamlessly add exposition to avoid infodumping. You’ll find more than a few experienced writers whose dialogue scenes have a lot more inner monologue than external dialogue. You probably just don’t realize it. [Hint: That’s a good thing.]

Favoring descriptive beats over tags means you need to make sure your readers can follow. It’s the one thing I work on the most during editing, too. Again, don’t let fretting over saids and tags and beats ruin your creative flow on your first draft.

Here’s another good summary of the process.

Also, make sure you punctuate your tags correctly. Not doing so can be one of those distracting mistakes that can turn readers off and I guarantee will bug the crap out of an editor.

Now, go. Experiment. Have fun. Enjoy your characters and let them enjoy their dialogue!

Hello Tomco tag and followers, it’s been a while! I apologize for not reblogging things recently, I kinda shelved this blog for a bit. But now I’m back! I don’t have a full week planned, as I’m a little late to the draw and Valentine’s Day is in exactly a week. So instead I will propose only a few days rather than an entire seven days. I don’t know what the “Star Bomb” has in store for us but I think we could all use some fluffy, romantic content, right? So here we go, with sweet Valentine’s Day related prompts.

Day 1 - Feb 12 - Family Introductions

Marco and Tom are dating now! How does the introduction to each other’s families go? Good? Bad? Up to you! You can write about Tom’s parents, or Marco’s or both, whatever you want. Heck even Star is considered part of the family really so they could even tell her. The world is yours!

Day 2 - Feb 13 - Date Night

It’s the day before Valentine’s Day and Tom and Marco elect to spend it together. What do they do, where do they go? Are there gifts? Food? Just lots of snuggling? Your choice.

Day 3 - Feb 14 - Valentine’s Day

The big day is here. This one is entirely for you! Give me your fluffiest, cutest, most romantic ideas. Sharing chocolate, kissing over coffee, holding hands on a romantic boat ride, watching the sunset/sunrise, whatever the heck you want. Hell, maybe they get a bit flirty and seductive~ (caveat: NSFW is allowed but please tag it appropriately and put it under a read more)

Day 4 - Feb 15 - Wild Card

Whatever other V-day tropes strike your fancy. Do they wake up from a night cuddled up together? Are they sick from all the chocolate? Do they just do tired forehead kisses and arrange their next date? Does one of them propose?? The power is yours.

So ye, those are the days this time around. Next time I’ll get this together further in advance. Now for the guidelines. Same as last time:

That about covers it. I can’t wait to see what you come up with. :D

@emeyllgeepro as per request #2

I was just going to do a little sketch of this for that Pokemon Go Variant thing but I had an idea and I had to see it out to completion. This would be an example of an event-based variant, and not a regional variant. Thanks for the idea!

I think I may have a couple more Pokemon requests in me before Saturday if any of you are interested. Send me an ask and if I get to it, I’ll be sure to tag you!

Hi!! I was wondering if you had any advice for a newbie studyblr / bullet journalist ?

Hello there, lovely anon!! ♥ I actually joined the studyblr community pretty recently (just this month!) so I hope I can answer your question well /// !! Since I’m pretty new, there’s still quite a bit I have yet to learn myself!

➸ advice for a new studyblr

Don’t be afraid to just start.

  • Honestly! There’s no need to feel insecure about your posts, spreads, handwriting, picture quality, stationary - everyone in the studyblr community is so sweet and positive and helpful I begin to feel spoiled. I hope you do to!
  • Don’t feel self conscious about anything. You’re beautiful, wonderful, and perfect just the way you are. There is no better you than you!
  • Stop comparing your posts and blog to other people’s. There’s a lot for you to learn, and it won’t all come immediately. Notes, followers - it takes time.

Reach out to other studyblrs!!

  • Say hi, send asks, make friends! Make comments on other’s posts, send compliments or help where you can. Just being active in the community can help you get attention but also give you a wonderful time. A studyblr is to help you grow, and this is a great way to keep you motivated in doing so.
  • Along the same line, try to find ways to interact with your followers!

Tags, Tags, Tags!

  • A lot of studyblrs will track a tag and will often reblog your content if you tag your original posts with it! You can find out what tag to put by checking out a studyblr’s page (for example, I track #studyfeather). You can make a list for yourself if that helps! (: But try not to be too overwhelming or overuse it. Maybe switch up which tracked tags you use from post to post.
  • Make a tag for you to track! It would make sense that if you’re using tracked tags to make one for yourself to spread the love.
  • Have a tag that is specific to your original content (mine is #featherpost)!!! It will make it nice and easy for those who come across your blog to find what you’re posting about. Having original content helps others have more interest in your blog!
  • A lot of what you are reblogging can serve as a resource for yourself. I like to reblog posts that inspire me, or have spreads I might try, masterposts, etc. If its important for you to find what you’re reblogging for later, make a tag system for yourself. For example, heres @ / studypetals’ tags page or @ / studyquill’s navigation page if you need any ideas. This is a great idea if other people begin using your blog as a resource as well.

Take advantage of all the information you see.

  • There are so many posts that address procrastination, time management, stress, note taking, school - anything at all - that is made available to you. It’s one thing to see the information, but it’s another to make use of it. (And don’t be afraid to share your knowledge either!) You can even make posts about trying out different advice if that helps motivate you to try something out.

Make an introductory post!

  • Help others get to know you better by putting together an introductory post! It’s never too late to make one, so don’t worry about making one if your blog has been up for a bit.
  • From what I’ve discovered, introductory posts tend to have the following information (not every one has ALL of this, it’s up to you what you’d like to add): name, age, school year, why you started a studyblr, your classes, some of your favorite studyblrs, other blogs you have (and other sites you’re on), any anything else you’d like to say/add.
  • If you use tracked tags or tag studyblrs you love, it can help get your blog noticed! (:

Post original content!

  • I touched on this earlier, but this is so important. One of the best ways for your studyblr to succeed is posting your own work and sharing it to the community. You never know how many people will love it, be inspired by it, follow you from it, or contact you because of it.
  • Be fairly consistent in posting original content. I try to post at least once a week even though I’m pretty busy. It helps motivate me to keep my bujo and studyblr going! You can try out the 100 days of productivity or some studyblrs put together monthly study challenges you can keep up with. As an example, here’s a May Study Challenge I might try out!
  • In posting original content, make sure you link information you’re referencing to help others that much more!

Queue your posts!!

  • A great way to keep your blog active is to queue your posts. I have my posts queued at 10 each day and try to keep at least 20 posts in my queue at all times, in case a couple of busy days keep me from adding more. Some people unfollow inactive blogs - and this can be a way to prevent it.
  • The only thing I don’t queue are original posts and asks, but it’s up to you if you decide to use the queue system or not!

➸ advice for a new bullet journalist

Real quick!! I would advise taking a look at the bullet journal’s official website to help understand the basics of bullet journaling.

  • It’s designed to be quick and customizable way for you to keep information and tasks organized. A great way to make use of this (that I’ve found) is to make a key for each of your logs. You can see my key here. You can also search tumblr for bujo keys to see what others have come up with. If you do want to make a key, make it so that it works for you!  It can be as simple or detailed as you want, with or without signifiers, etc. If you don’t like this system, that’s just fine!

Discover different journal options and where to find them.

  • There is no set journal to use, however there are popular choices among the studyblr community: Moleskine, Leuchtturm1917, and Muji journals - but it is NOT limited to these. Working with a regular notebook works just fine as well!
  • It’s one thing to find and purchase something online - but I like being able to find what I’m looking for in person. It saves shipping + handling costs, and I get to it immediately. And, sometimes, they can be cheaper too! I found my moleskine journal I’ve been using at Barnes and Noble, and have also seen Leuchtturm1917 journals at my school’s book store. (The temptation is real every time I walk past OTL)

Your bullet journal is for you, so let’s make it that way.

  • A big part of having a studyblr is to help yourself in becoming more productive in learning and improving a lifestyle (or this may just be how I see it). So! There is no set format for you to use a bullet journal. It’s up to you to figure out what works best for you.
  • You can take inspiration from other people’s post to help experiment with different spreads and layouts. (Be sure to credit/tag if you do! Just to be safe.)
  • You can find out different things that you can add to your bujo! Habit trackers, daily/weekly/monthly/yearly spreads, lists of things to keep track of (books to read, tv shows and episodes to watch, shopping/wish lists, bucket list, etc), anything you’re interested in. Depending on your interests and areas you wan’t to use a bujo to help you with, this can vary. If you want, you can test out different ideas to see if you like it or not. It will take time to find what you like, so don’t stress about it in the beginning. You’re just starting, after all!
  • There is always something for you to do, it’s just a matter of finding out what that is. If you need any help of finding something to do, feel free to message me! (As long as you don’t mind me asking a bunch of questions haha.)

Don’t be afraid to use pencil first when making your spreads.

  • Me being me, trusted myself to use pen right off the bat. Boy, do I regret that XD It got to the point where I purchased an erasable pen but I’m finding nothing can beat pencil before pen. But before you erase the pencil - make sure the pen has dried. I can’t stress this enough. I’ve gotten impatient multiple times and go ahead to erase, and instantly wished I hadn’t. You can try to find pens that prevent this from happening, but waiting is the best alternative. Something you can do is make a spread at night, and wait to erase when you wake up in the morning. You can keep your bujo open to the page you worked on for it to dry better.

You don’t need any fancy or expensive stationary.

  • Seeing the pastel highlighters, wide variety of pens and miscellaneous tools it’s easy to think you need to have it all but … you don’t have to have any of it. Especially if you are low on funds, don’t worry about getting anything new. Just work with what you have! I have been using pens I’ve owned for years and have hardly touched to see what I can do with them and am pleasantly surprised! I have a bunch of supplies that I have gotten for school that haven’t been used that I plan on finally putting to use.
  • Your basic school supplies with notebooks, highlighters, pens and pencils, post it notes, can take you as far as you wish!

Having a difficult time coming up with a spread? Here’s some ideas!

  • Try out different hand written fonts. This can include headers/titles and subheaders/subtitles. Try headers, banners, and dividers too! Here’s some different ideas: x | x | x | x
  • Give your spread a theme. Disney, movie, music, history, art, cartoon shows, books - anything at all! This can help with finding art to fill in blank spaces to give your spread some more interest. Here’s a post with a bunch of ideas you could use.
  • Colors! Try out different color combinations! Being an art student, I’m overly conscious of colors. They can help set a mood, evoke certain emotion, some colors work best with others (be smart when using complimentary colors), etc. Here’s a site that covers basic color theory. But … this is me being nerdy. This can take quite a bit of thought - but you honestly don’t have to (: !! It’s best if you stick to one or two colors within a page not to overwhelm what others are seeing, especially if you’re wanting to keep things minimal. If you want me to go deeper into this, and talk more about contrast and whatnot … I can make a separate post as not to clutter this one ♥
  • Make goals for yourself! This can be included in a habit tracker, but doesn’t need to be. They can be as small as going on a 20 minute walk each day during this week, being sure to stay hydrated, doing something with a family member or friend, completing or starting a big project or assignment, etc.
  • Find some quotes and add them! Here’s some quote masterposts I’ve come across: x | x | x | x

When taking pictures, be conscious of lighting.

  • The best kind of lighting is natural lighting. Taking pictures outside (or inside) during the day will help your image quality! I know before I said picture quality doesn’t matter much, but this can be a simple and easy way to help improve your posts.
  • If natural lighting isn’t helping you the way you want, you can take a look at different apps with photo editing capabilities or filters. I have a horrible app finding ability, and just use Photoshop (you can get PS CS2 for free here) or Clip Studio Paint to edit my photos. My favorite tool to use is the tone curve. However you can see this post to look at other options, like apps (it also links to other posts you can look at)!

Have a good time!

  • Honestly, I feel this is what it boils down to. As long as you are enjoying what you’re doing and continue to have a passion for studyblr related content, you’ll succeed. Don’t stress about it and take one post at a time.

I’ll start putting together a post of how I started my studyblr in case that may help as well! Thank you for asking, anon! Hopefully this helps, and that I was able to cover everything! T o T Sorry I kinda went on a bit of a tangent in some areas.

For future reference, it’s generally okay to reblog posts made by poc that talk about how things affect us or something that white people do that harms us unless the post specifically says in the tags or in the post itself that white people cant reblog it or that it’s for poc only. We recognize that we are often ignored and left yelling into the void so sometimes we actually really want white people to spread our posts as a way to boost our voices. So please, reblog any post you come across made by poc that white people really need to see! Just make sure the post doesn’t specify anywhere that you shouldn’t and it’s always okay to ask first.

taehyung, 13.6k, he’s a little bit different to what you are but oh well

warning: uh… idk, there’s a warning but if i say why it gives away the story

“Being different isn’t a problem.”

“Everyone acts like it is…they pull faces when you can’t answer their questions. They talk behind your back because they don’t think what they’re saying will hurt you. You’re the only person who hasn’t questioned my… being of me.”

Hey I was wondering do you know any drama free, hate free Voltron blogs? This fandom, it's, it's getting to me. I can't personally deal with drama or toxicity and that's what the fandom just feels like a good chunk of the time. So, any advice or any blogs you recommend?

I have a ton of discourse, ship-hate, and drama-free blogs to recommend! But first, for a bit of advice:

  1. Be sure who you’re following, and what they’ll be putting on your dash. I know it’s tempting to follow a cool lookin’ blog on the spot, but a simple search of “discourse” or “hate” on someone’s blog before following has saved me a lot of grief. Also, people will often post in their abouts or descriptions if they are a discourse-free blog. Those are Good People usually, but make sure to still check what kinda content they post.
  2. If you see content that upsets you on your dash, either unfollow (if it’s one person consistently posting it) or find a way to block it. Things like XKit have extensions within them that enable you to block tags/keywords/urls (blacklist) and also to completely block specific posts (post blocker).
  3. Make use of the block feature. Especially if the person is being aggressive and/or harmful to you or those around you. You don’t have to deal with it. They’re strangers on the internet. Just block ‘em.

And now for the blog recs! These are all peeps that - to my knowledge - stay away from discourse and ship hate. If any of y’all would rather me not tag you, feel free to let me know and I’ll edit the post! Also, if you are reading this and are a hate/discourse free Voltron blog that I haven’t mentioned here, feel free to reblog this with a self-promo!

One last bit of advice: It’s important to remember that hateful people purposefully try and drown out the good. They scream over everyone else so sometimes it can seem like they’re the only voices. This is not true. There’s a lot of good out there. And I hope we all keep finding it.

2nd Reborn Day

Hi Everyone

So on March 11th, some KHR blogs, myself included, will be hosting the 2nd Reborn! Day.

This is an effort to get everyone hyped up about KHR again - a wonderful anime that seriously needs more love.

On that day, we’ll just be adding some extra things - and really just invite everyone to show up and show their love for the amazing characters in it.  Send in something about KHR - whether it’s headcanons, fanfictions, or art that you want to share or talk about.

Tags being used will be “Reborn! Day,” “KHR Day” and “R!0311″ - though definitely go to the individual blogs and see which ones they’ll be using in particular to make sure you can find all the awesome stuff going on.

(If you guys have any ideas for what you want to see me do, please send them in.)

This is the official post - if you’re going to be participating as a contributer, reblog with the tags you’ll be using in the tag section.

A list of the blogs definitely involved (I’ll be updating this as needed - stopping the night before March 11th):

Model in the Making Part 1

Summary: (College!AU) Y/N and Bucky, one of her close friends (whom she might like a teeny tiny bit), realise they might be able to help each other out with each their own assignments, much to the amusement of the rest of the group.

Author’s Note: Yes, guys, another series. It’s partially inspired by ‘A Lesson in Love’ by @buckyywiththegoodhair, which you should definitely read if you haven’t already because it is so damn good.

“Just ask her already!” Steve mutters, elbowing Bucky’s side. You turn around from the hob just in time to see Bucky glare daggers at Steve.

“Ask who, what?” you ask, picking up a nearby towel and drying your hands.

“Well, I need, uh, I need help with an art project,” Bucky says. He explains his request in greater detail. Each word he says causes the hair on your arms to stand up and your cheeks to warm up.

“Uh…” you stutter, trying to think of a response. “Surely there are plenty of other girls who would be more…. suited to the task,” you say, giving him a small, tight-lipped smile, before making your way out of the room.

“Wait! Maybe we can help each other out,” he calls. You stop in your tracks, turning around.

“I’m listening.”

The sheer ring of a bell wakes you from your haze of concentration, and you look down at what you’ve drawn. Wrinkling your nose in disgust, you quickly place the sheet of paper in your folder and close it. You pick up your supplies and put them in your bag, before zipping it up and slipping the bag on. You give the instructor a brief nod and a tight-lipped smile as you walk past her. Glancing at your watch, you see it’s half past eleven.

You step out through the door of the building and breath in the sharp, cool, night air. It’s dark. You can just about see the streetlights on the main street from where you are, but you’re still a fair bit away. You pull out your phone.

You press the contact on your phone and hold it close to your ear as you hear the familiar buzz, telling you the phone is ringing.

“Hey, what’s up?”

The sound coming from your phone startles you.

“Uh, hey, Steve,” you reply, practically seeing the grin on his face. You can’t help but smile. “What are you guys up to?”

You can hear Bucky and Sam doing stuff in the background, and knowing it’s Friday, God only knows what they have planned.

Yeah, see it’s not actually nsfw in the traditional sense. It’s non-sexual love making I guess. Anywho, it’s fun to write. Though I probably should tag the spark-merge asks…

TFP

Soundwave would actually take of his visor. He wants no barriers between you, and snuggles you close the whole time, whispering in his hoarse voice how much he loves you as his tendrils wrap around your middle.

Smokescreen is a nervous wreck. He wants to do this, really desperately does; he’s just inexperienced when it comes to things of the intimate nature. Once the both of you are absolutely sure and ready, you slowly merge sparks. It’s overwhelming and he’s shaking the whole time but also smiling.

It takes a long time for Wheeljack to be ready for something so permanent. But he loves you so much, and once he decides to do something he gives it his all. He’s gentle and passionate, and your comfort is his number one priority.

MTMTE

Rung is careful and sweet, making sure not to overwhelm you. You go slowly, and he kisses your shoulders and neck while rubbing your back. It also takes quite a bit of preparation before he’s willing to merge with you. Ground rules, a safe word, and a mutual understanding of what lasting effects a merge can have.

Swerve cries. He can’t help it; he’s overwhelmed by how much he loves you and that fact that someone loves him. Loves him enough to spark merge with him. He kisses you and babbles how much he loves you and how amazing you are.

Drift is reverent in his affection for you. He curls around you and sends you all the good feelings he can muster, conveying his love for you. It’s hard for him to stay still, so the whole time he’s swaying back in forth with you in his arms.

Rodimus isn’t used to more than casual flings, so the idea of spark-merging makes him nervous. Once he knows that you both really want to do it, though, he makes things as romantic as possible. He sets up a throne of pillows and blankets and puts on classy music. While you two are merged he makes sure to check for any signs of discomfort, in case you want to stop.

Alright guys, I know it hasn’t been that long since the last Tomco week but I decided to put together one for Easter, since the March week was so successful. Just a bunch of fun, light-hearted prompts. Here we go.

Day 1 - Apr 12 - Flower Picking

It’s warming up and the boys decide to enjoy the weather. Lots of flowers to be picked and crowns to be made with them.

Day 2 - Apr 13 - Stargazing

Warm days means warm nights, especially in southern California. Perfect for finding a nice clear spot and stargazing.

Day 3 - Apr 14 - Easter Costumes

“I’m gonna show my boyfriend Tom to everyone in town… wearing a bunny outfit!”

Gotta get into the Easter spirit. How about some adorable (pink is optional but recommended) bunny outfits? Egg costumes? Or any other kind of Easter-themed outfit you like.

Day 4 - Apr 15 - Egg Decorating

Easter is tomorrow, which means they gotta prepare for the egg hunt, of course. What colors and designs do Tom and Marco paint their eggs with? Or do they just go with plastic ones and decorate those? Up to you. :D

Day 5 - Apr 16 - Easter Day / Egg Hunting

It’s Easter! Time for egg hunting and potentially winning prizes. Alternatively, if you prefer other ways of celebrating (religious practices, meals, etc) then feel free to portray that instead.

Day 6 - Apr 17 - Tomco Songs

Got a song that really makes you think of Tomco? Create something based on it. Lyrics can be included or not, up to you, though we would like to know what song it is so we can look it up too.

Day 7 - Apr 18 - Looking Ahead

Time for some reflection on what the future might be like. Where do you imagine Tom and Marco being in five or ten years? How does their relationship evolve? What jobs do they have? Are they happily ruling the Underworld together? Or… something else, perhaps?

I’ll reblog this again closer to the start date, as usual. Now for our rules, which can also be found on the about page: https://tomco-week.tumblr.com/about

I’m looking forward to whatever you guys post. :D

Void x Reader

Part One

“I can understand why you’re all here but you, why’d you come?” Void drawled at you as you stood close to Lydia.

“I… I’m going to help get Stiles back.” You mumbled.

“Why he doesn’t care about you, you’re a little girl who he’s always had to be nice too so he can just get to Lydia, he won’t ever like you.” He cocked his head when his words seemed to have the intended effect and you sank back a little.

serendipia-s  asked:

congrats on 1.5k Mel!!!! 🎉💜 i love your writing and I have a prompt for you: bellarke soulmates au where the first words they say to you are tattoed on your body. person A: I can't believe dumbledore dies! person B: really? at a midnight release, asshole? I don't mind who's who. thanks 😌

ahhh thank you Scarlet <3 tagging @cabeswaterblakes too just to make sure you get your fic!

YOUR BELLARKE FIC:

no pause, no rewind

[also on ao3]

As far as the whole soulmates thing goes, Bellamy’s never been much of a believer.

It’s just kind of hard to see the point, really. His mother didn’t seem to care much when she had him with a guy who wasn’t her soulmate and, as far as Bellamy can tell, took off as soon as he could get his shoes on. She certainly didn’t seem to care much either when she decided to have a second kid with some other random, who knocked her up and got cold feet a mere month before Octavia was born.

Unfortunate life circumstances aside, he supposes the bulk of his disbelief stems from impracticality. There’s just too much logistical baggage to worry about. Like, what if this person’s supposed to be the one person meant for you, but they’re already married to someone else? What if you meet your soulmate on some completely off chance in a foreign city, and then find out that the two of you live thousands of miles apart? What if something happens — an accident or an unexpected tragedy or something — that changes who they are beyond repair or recourse?

Or — and this is, without a doubt, miles worse — what if you’re like his sister, Octavia, and all you have written on your palm is a simple ‘hi’?

That’s it. ‘Hi’.

Octavia could literally have a thousand soulmates. That’s fucking terrifying.

(She insists that she’ll know when it’s the right person. The right ‘hi’, out of the millions she’s bound to hear throughout her life. She’s just gonna know, some way, somehow. And he’s the crazy one for being skeptical.)

She’s always told him he’s an idiot, simply for having rational concerns. Yeah, well, it’s not like she’s ever had to deal with the words ‘Really? At a midnight release, asshole?’ emblazoned across the inside of her forearm in loopy cursive.

“A midnight release, Bell,” she’d say to him whenever he grumbled, grabbing his wrist to point emphatically at the words. “You know where you’re going to meet your soulmate. You know when, too! Don’t you realise how lucky you are?”

Lucky. Yeah, right. Tell that to all the mothers tutting disapprovingly at twelve-year-old him, ushering their kids away like he’s got a myriad of other swear words tattooed all over the rest of his body.

(Why the fuck did he have to get such a fucking foul-mouthed soulmate?!)

And yet, for all his disbelief, it doesn’t quite stop his stomach from turning discomforting little flips whenever he goes to a midnight release for anything, whether it’s a book or a movie or a stupid video game.

Even so, here he is, twenty-three years old, with dozens of midnight releases under his belt, and — nope. Still no soulmate.

It’s a good thing, he supposes. The longer his soulmate takes to show up, the longer he has to gather rational, concrete evidence against this whole melodramatic affair of a genetic arrangement. By the time he does meet his soulmate, he’s pretty sure he’ll be fully capable of presenting a solid argument on why both of them deserve to be let off this very stupid hook.

In the meantime, he can focus on all the other things in his life.

Stuff that’s actually important.

Stuff like the upcoming release of the latest Harry Potter movie.
