RWBY Art Challenge Day 1: Favorite Character.

ALRIGHT! I’m kicking off this potentially soul crushing art challenge with best boi! Qrow Branwen is hands down my FAVORITE character in RWBY, if that wasn’t already obvious from how 90% of my art features him. I just think he will be a apart of a lot of the secrets the show as yet to unravel, and if he acts like a drunken idiot with a soft spot for his nieces along the way, then amen. <3

I decided to start on a high note and put some extra effort into this piece (had to do my boy justice.) BUT if tomorrow you see me with a stick figure don’t be surprised. (ʘ‿ʘ✿)

day 6 » relationships/interactions

∟ luffy + his crew

okay i was going to write an analysis but let’s be quick: luffy’s relationship with his crew is super important because he even though he has a different relationship with each of them, he treats them all equally and respectfully, which in turn makes their relationships that much more precious. please don’t tell me he values any crew member more than another, because he’s probably die the same way if any of them left.

Decided to give you guys a peek at the first part of the lyric comic (without lyrics cuz still wanna keep it a secret). The first half is giving me a hard time to decide what scenes to put down so it, I guess, flows naturally but I think I might have an idea. This is a big project and I’m hoping to have it done sometime in the Summer.

a cooking lesson for yall

Editing Manga Icons for Skintone: A Guide

Well, as long as I’m in the process of editing these icons, I might as well throw a tutorial together for anyone who might need it.

As you’ve probably noticed, there are very few manga faceclaims out there with darker skin colors, which seriously limits FC options for some muses, since not everyone is comfortable with live faceclaims or can draw their own. SO, here’s a simple guide for how I edit my icons

I’ve found this method is easier with icons that are already cropped & resized, so it’s probably in your best interest to make the icons before editing. It’s pretty quick (even if you’re like me and use a crappy laptop trackpad); editing one icon usually takes under 1 min. once you know what you’re doing.

Hi there, really like the visual style you've got going on! Just curious, if there was like any game or idea that inspired this kinda art direction? Or is this just some kinda placeholder texture or something?

You know I haven’t actually considered where the inspirations lie in visuals! I think it’s mainly constructed out of ways I’ve devised to make the asset creation easy and fast. The squashing and stretching of sprites makes the need for animation much more minimal, and the pixel-dither screen shader makes texture work in general much more forgiving (as well as letting the visuals drastically change on the fly)

Take this sprite for example. At five images, this is the entire minotaur sprite! And frankly it’s a bit rough when looking at it directly, but it still works pretty well ingame (i think).

Everything managed to cooperate long enough for me to upload one of the things I found: a second texture for the “Winter Blossoms” print! I don’t know if anybody else has already found this - and I apologize if this is the case - but I’ve never seen it anywhere, and searching google and MTS turned up nothing. I wish I could have linked the recolor package to the texture in the file but I have no idea how to attempt to do that :P it’s only 20kb though.

Download yay

Zip file contains the recolor plus the extracted PNG texture, in case you want it. :) I haven’t changed or edited it in any way (though it probably needs it tbh) and it’s been compressorized. Let me know if anything’s wrong, and keep an eye out for more of the stuff I’ve found soon :)
