just people make no sense

idk man the thing that sucks about not being really pretty is that no matter what you tell yourself and what your friends might say, you sort of always know that you’re just not. and i’m not talking about being stubborn and fishing for compliments, it’s just knowing that you’re not conventionally attractive, that people on the street won’t double-take when you pass by them, that people won’t be flustered trying to talk to you. and i know looks aren’t everything but damn it sure feels like it when you aren’t absolutely gorgeous

I think one of the most baffling memes of the last few years was the “Keep calm and ____” meme just because people disregarded the format more than any other meme I can think of. And I dont mean ironically like “look at me I am the captain now” how people would just throw phrases into it that didnt make sense, I mean how the phrase “keep calm” just because a marketing technique for literally anything. I saw a bumper sticker on a car this past weekend with the phrase “Keep calm and I am a Greyhound Owner.” The phrase “keep calm” adds nothing to it other than an excuse for the person to put a bumper sticker on their car saying that they are a greyhound owner.

Another amazing example of this was when Ben Carson tweeted this image on his birthday, implying that people were fraught with anxiety only to be calmed by the fact that it was Ben Carson’s birthday.

“Haise had feelings for Touka but Kaneki doesn’t”

But, hey!!!

Look!!

The title of the chapter where Haise first met Touka (and the one he instantly fell for her) is called:

The feelings Haise felt for Touka were inherited from Kaneki. It just happens that, since Haise didn’t have any memories of his past, he also didn’t have any issues that would make him lock is feelings deep down on his heart.

While Kaneki had a lot to deal, Haise was just Haise, which made his feelings for her more obvious and transparent.

Kaneki and Haise may be “““diferent”””, but the heart is the same.

Shout out to Green Day for still writing and releasing rock music. They’ve experimented with their sound without alienating listeners and fans too much. Green Day was, still is and will always be a rock band. That deserves praise, especially in 2017.

Hello friends today I would like to talk about Damian (surprise!)

It’s just that I noticed a pattern, and I felt like y’all needed to hear about it: I can think of six different times where Damian went out of his way to give people very thoughtful, very individual gifts.

1) The pearl from Martha Wayne’s necklace (B&R 14), which he found in the sewers after a considerable amount of effort– we see him searching for it in two different issues (B&R 9, 13). Side note: made a rat friend, named it Spotty

2) In the first B&R Annual, Damian literally set up a scavenger hunt for Bruce, resulting in three different gifts. A painting by his mom

3) This photo of Thomas and Martha’s honeymoon, at the exact spot the picture was taken

I just feel like some of you kaisoo antis dont even understand tbe EXTENT of what Jongin went through after kaistal was announced.

-His popularity dropped instantly
-Fans were burning his pictures/albums
-Said he was a liar, a fake, a CHEATER
-Some people went so far as to demand he get kicked out of exo and publically apologize
-Some even said he should DIE
-They criticized his looks, his voice, his dancing, his acting. Was once exo’s visual dancing machine, now all of a sudden he’s a horrible singer/actor with a “dick nose” and scary facial expressions when he dances
-Spread false rumors about him, all sexual in nature, had him out here looking like a disgusting clown who receives blow jobs in public pools
-They said he was faking his injury for attention
-They came for his work ethic, saying he injured himself skiing with his gf rather than practicing

These fans literally tore him to pieces and tried to DESTROY him…but the biggest thing youre concerned with is people who think he is truly in love with another man.

He looked absolutely misreable on 4/1.
He avoided answering any questions about kaistal.
He cried so hard during lotte fansign.
He looked misreable for days, weeks afterwards. Didnt smile at all. For weeks.
The first time he smiled, everyone rejoiced cuz it had been so long.

You all act like you know Jongin so much. If you do, then why didnt anyone notice how he wasnt himself for MONTHS after 4/1?
Even after his leg healed, even after the hate died down. He clearly wasnt himself. At all. But he still always smiles whenever he sees “Kaisoo” banners in the crowd.

The past couple months he has been the happiest Ive ever seen since 4/1. His smile has never been brighter.

Go on and continue to ignore Jongin’s obvious change in all of this. Anything to keep your hatred of kaisoo shippers and the idea of them being together alive I guess.

A Personal Connection

Author: @sebastianstandoffish

Pairing: Reader (She/Her) x Bucky Barnes

Summary: Bucky may or may not have a crush on Steve’s PA.

Word Count: 5,551

Category: Fluff/Very light smut

Warnings: Cursing (per usual), some smutty stuff but not all that explicit (STILL 18+), etc.

A/N: A whole month! Time really flies. This was going to include more explicit smut scenes in it, but, after some deliberation, I’ve decided to put that into a separate work. It’ll be a continuation of this with actual smut in it. Hopefully the separation doesn’t disrupt too much and also allows readers that a) don’t enjoy reading explicit smut and b) don’t connect with an explicitly biologically female reader can still enjoy the story. Thank you for reading and understanding!

She had started out as a way to appease Tony, who had insisted that Steve needed a personal assistant. Stark blathered on and on about how much his life had changed after getting a PA and how maybe a little help with coordinating and the day to day tasks would “remove the stick from that star-spangled ass.”

So, Steve had caved and asked Pepper to set up a couple of interviews with people interested in the job. After a parade of ecstatic fans and sexual propositions, he was just about ready to give up.

Instead, at the end of a very long day of being ogled and fawned over, (Y/N) had appeared with a rose-scented resume and two popsicles she’d bought from the street-vendor outside the Tower. Her smile was sweet and her eyes kind, a little wide at the opulence of the Stark equipment, but not predatory like the previous applicants.

There is literally no reason for asexuals to Not be included in the LGBTQ+ community

Simply put, it just makes sense.

1: Ace people face very similar issues to many other LGBTQ+ folks (compulsory heterosexuality, corrective rape, abuse in relationships/at home/by friends bc of sexuality, heteronormativity, stigma, pathologisation etc). These are simply facts.

1.5: Also try asking yourself, why are you okay with calling bad treatment of overweight people “fatphobia” but not bad treatment of aroace people “aphobia”? It’s simply an easy to use term that is well established in the community. Also the argument that ace people don’t experience discrimination and oppression the same was other LGBTQ+ people do falls kind of flat, bc neither do lesbians in comparison to bisexual men, or nonbinary trans people in comparison to bisexual women. (Also please stop calling yourselves “aphobes”, make “i hate ace people” “””jokes”””, or compare us to mike pence and similar (yes ive seen this). I am, like many other aces, queer. it’s really insensitive, it’s rude, it makes me and many others feel awful and betrayed by our own community. Just, please stop).

2: Ace people don’t “steal” or take resources from other LGBTQ+ folks. If an ace person is homeless, then they do need shelter (like, if a gay person is homeless for a reason unrelated to their sexuality, for example chronical physical illness, then are they “stealing” LGBTQ+ resources? No. They’re not). And if an ace person is suicidal etc bc of their sexuality, then they do need that LGBTQ+ suicide hotline. If it is like you all say, that ace people don’t need these resources, then they won’t take them either. Simple as that.

3: And no, the full acronym isn’t necessarily LGBTQ. the acronym has changed A Lot throughout the years. from “gays and lesbian association” to what it is today, with a lot of acronyms and variants before that and on the journey till today. Accepting those in need and those similar to us is just how this community naturally evolves!

3.5: …And no, this doesn’t mean that pedophiles, zoophiles, and “kinky” people will be allowed into the community. Those aren’t sexual orientations and you know it. And they are not oppressed, discriminated against, or unfairly treated in society. This I have trouble expressing in English but I think you all get what I mean.

4: That argument generally is pretty USA centric. In many countries the current official acronym is in fact HBTQ (in popular media and newspaper), and HBTQ+ by official HBTQ+ organisations and other educated people! and many countries use different terminology entirely based on their language and history.

5: And no, there is no reason to exclude ace people bc “they’re our oppressors” bc guess what? Ace people are more often than not not straight (They are only straight if they choose to use the split attraction model, identify as either heteroromantic asexual or heterosexual aromantic, and identify as straight. You do not get to choose an ace person’s labels and erase their identity.), they don’t have hetero privilege (straight passing isn’t a privilege remember). also:

5.5: Cis people oppress trans people. White peoples oppress POC. Abled people oppress disabled people. And we share the community anyway, right? Sadly, it’s not a 100% safe space for all people. It’s too a diverse community for that. However, that doesn’t mean that we can exclude people based on that! Of course, ace people can’t speak over gay people on gay issues, the same way gay people can’t speak over trans people on trans issues.

6: Ace people are already accepted into the LGBTQ+ community by most people and organisations etc who know about aroace people. Both online and offline. We get taught about it in sex ED in school as such, official pride organisations include it in their commercials and information etc, and ace people are welcome and will in fact Not be hunted or targeted by other LGBTQ+ folks at pride! Generally speaking, this is tumblr phenomenon and something most regular pride goers don’t even know about.

Just making my stance on this matter clear on this subject bc recently I’ve seen a huge rise in discourse and nasty people saying terrible things, on both sides mind you, but yeah. My opinions, incomplete and defintely open to change. (And before you people go off a note, I’m ace, bi, and trans).

Most of the conversations about abuse I see on here ascribe a certain… intentionality? to abuse. And I mean, to abuse as a general concept. And while I have definitely encountered people who were wilfully and maliciously abusive, I think this is also part of a tendency to class people as ‘good’ and 'bad’ and credit bad things to individual agency, if that makes sense. Plenty of abusers are just damaged people acting out harmful patterns without recognizing them. My father, for instance, since I’ve had a lot of time to become objective about him. I’m confident that at no point did he make a decision to terrorize and shame me into any plan of his. He was just an angry, self-centered asshole who should not have been a father and blamed other people for his failings.

None of this is in any way intended to excuse abuse. On the contrary, abusive behavior is never, ever acceptable. The point is that you don’t have to make any conscious decision to be abusive, and you don’t have to belong to some class of “abusive people”. Anyone can perpetrate abusive behavior. Know what it looks like, think about your interactions, and see whether they build people up or tear them down.

anonymous asked:

hey! sorry to bother you, but I dont know about the whole gremlin dva thing? what is it?

Oh wow but I wish you’d asked this off-anon, racist overwatch fans are really sensitive about this subject and like to throw little tantrums whenever anyone says anything against it! I’m gonna start from the very beginning in case anyone doesn’t know the basics of the situation

Okay, so this is D.Va:

D.Va, AKA Hana Song is a nineteen-year-old professional Starcraft player from Korea. There isn’t a perfect analogy, but in Korea, Pro Gamers aren’t viewed the way western gamers are, they’re held in a closer regard to professional athletes, or even rock stars. D.Va’s name is indicative of her personality: She’s a celebrity diva. She’s confident to a fault, she’s courageous and a bit cocky, she’s charming and she knows how to work an audience. Her fame as a pro Starcraft player has led to a career as an actress, which brought her fame worldwide.

At age 16, through a “last starfighter/pacific rim” type situation, the Korean Government decided to address the problem of “giant robot keeps attacking Korea and traditional military tactics and regular soldiers are useless against it” by recruiting pro gamers (with their fast reflexes and unconventional tactical know-how) to pilot mechs to keep the giant robot at bay. D.Va was the best Starcraft player in the world (except her dad, the one person in the world she still can’t beat), and amazingly, she was also the best at fighting this giant robot. Because her gaming ability is what makes her so good at fighting this particular giant robot, she approaches her job the same way she approaches video games: by perpetually chasing the horizon of perfection and trying to improve her skills.

In-universe, she streams her missions worldwide on Twitch, and her fan following as a Superhero is as big as her following as a Pro Gamer or a Movie Star. Because she streams her missions, she’s often heard using gamer-speak in-combat because she’s addressing her audience directly. Outside of combat, many other heroes (like Lucio and Reinhardt) are huge fans of hers and look up to her, she’s a fan of reading scientific journals and is a bit starstruck to meet her favorite scientist (Mei) and she’s deeply hurt by the destruction she saw in her home country. She’s also sensitive about being called a child, because she’s now 19 (an adult) and a decorated soldier and deserves a certain level of respect.

This is Gremlin D.Va:

Gremlin D.Va is a fandom-created meme based on approximately nothing from the actual game or lore except the word “gamer” in her description. Gremlin D.Va is a caricature of western white male gamers (interesting given that D.Va is a Korean woman who acts approximately nothing like western white male gamers).

Gremlin D.Va is approximately four years old (or less!! A lot of the fanart includes her wearing diapers, sitting in strollers, sucking on a pacifier, the line is between “gremlin D.Va” and “baby D.Va” is blurry enough to be practically nonexistent). Gremlin D.Va is obsessed with doritos and mountain dew (she has her own brand of chips and sponsors a cola brand in-game, but we’ve established that the people making this meme don’t really care about what is or isn’t part of the game). She is supposed to be dirty and disgusting, she speaks in broken english even though Canon D.Va is fluent (they chalk this up to be “she’s like a baby!” but infantilization isn’t much better), she is mischievous and sneaky, she is presented as a childlike, and, well, pretty much aligns with every harmful stereotype of East Asians except the hypersexualization (which they claim makes it progressive). Also, as noted in the above picture, part of the meme is that she’s been adopted by two of the white characters, Soldier: 76 and Mercy, neither of whom she’s confirmed to have ever even met. She’s usually presented in the comics as a burden to that white man, which, yikes.

Essentially, Gremlin D.Va is a list of harmful and baseless stereotypes and tropes about Asians and Asian-Americans like “sneaky” and “childlike” and “perverse,” and defenders of the meme like to pretend it’s okay to project lots of anti-Asian racist stereotypes onto an Asian character as long as they’re not doing so because she’s Asian, but, the fact is, it honestly doesn’t matter whether or not they mean to be racist, but it’s somewhat hard to believe it has nothing to do with the character being East Asian: It would be very different if she were a white character being treated the same way, since there’s really no cultural baggage that presents white people as subhuman (you’re literally calling her a “gremlin”) and childlike (don’t try to dispute this, half those comics put her in a damn diaper), but for SOME REASON the white characters in the game are never presented that way!

The one exception to that is in the Halloween sprays where D.Va is very much presented as a child, and defenders like to claim this makes Gremlin D.Va “canon,” although this doesn’t really hold any water, since the sprays seem to show children dressed as the heroes trick-or-treating, and almost all the heroes are given a trick-or-treater spray. Here’s just a handful, for instance:

Now, I’ve gotten yelled at a lot for calling the meme racist, and 99 times out of 100 it is, but the fact remains, even if it was totally not racist: it’s just plain not funny! It’s boring and unimaginative and doesn’t make sense! People always try to act like “it’s just a video game, it’s fictional, let us have our jokes,” and I wholeheartedly agree, except that I expect jokes to be even mildly funny.

People also come back with “but it’s Chibi! Haven’t you ever heard of Chibi!” which, of course I have!! In fact, like all the Overwatch heroes, there’s a Chibi version of her available in the game! It doesn’t look like a screaming dorito-encrusted toddler in the care of a cheap knockoff Clint Eastwood, though, it looks like a chibi version of the character:

There she is standing next to her mech! She’s got a look and pose indicative of her trademark cocksure attitude, she’s clearly an adult and not a child, she’s not sexualized in this image without being desexualized through infantilization, and it looks like her, but in that style!!

Now, the thing is, I know it’s futile to ask racists to stop being racist, especially when they don’t agree they are being racist. They think they’re being funny, and they try to dismiss any criticisms with “it’s not that serious,” but the thing is, if it wasn’t that serious to them, why do they throw a little tantrum whenever anyone voices discomfort with it? And I mean every single time, they whine and complain and act smugly superior because they haven’t been “offended,” but the fact is that most normal fans of the game are content to roll their eyes and scroll past their unfunny meme, and they’re the ones who get all worked up whenever they find out people don’t think it’s funny.

Which is the most important facet of Gremlin D.Va: it’s not funny! It’s boring! It feels like the kind of thing Seth Green would write in a mediocre Robot Chicken sketch that he didn’t put all that much effort into. Even if it wasn’t racist, it just doesn’t make sense that people keep pushing this unfunny joke despite the fact that the response is more groans than laughs! In fact, most people I know mock and ridicule the people who are boring enough to find it funny!

So, that’s basically it in a nutshell.

i thought about death last on a tuesday. i thought about how decay is supposed to smell sweet and i wondered what that meant for its taste. i have no intention to find out, though i know curiosity, like cat to mouse, has a way of digging her claws in.

i thought about life last night. not just the sunrise, or the stars. not just the way the world goes dizzy at the edges when you hold your breath, but the way that the air feels in the aftermath of a storm. particles lightning-charged with the same kind of life that lingers in the synapses of a brain at the edge of discovery.

this morning i thought about you. you. you are hard to fold into words. i find that your curves do not like the way sentences feel when i try to hold them up against you, to see if i caught your image within them. the comparison is as weak as i was when i saw you last tuesday, or when you smiled at me last night.

tonight? who knows. the thing is, i think these days i laugh more than i cry, but i still think about death. i haven’t looked at the stars in a while but i still see them, and i will always watch for storms. you do not complete me as i was a person before you, but i like that we could live alone. it means we choose not to.

workin on some good omens animations! here’s a bit of crowley~

I just saw this anti post basically saying that it’s bad that 14 year olds know about pedophilia and I’m just ???? so baffled ??? like these people actually think that a 14 year old shouldn’t be aware of what pedophilia is and what the signs of pedophilia are ??? like they claim to want to protect minors from pedophiles yet are saying 14 year olds shouldn’t know what pedophilia is or be educated on the risks which is therefore making them so naive and unaware that they’re vulnerable enough to be easily targeted ???? just ???? do they know ??? their attitude legit helps pedophiles ??? bc they think naivety is safety ???? when it literally isn’t ??? it’s genuinely so concerning ??? like these kids are being put in so much potential danger ??? this needs to fucking stop ???
