just listen to this band please

Ok that last post got me fired up so we’re gonna have a quick chat about queer history and respecting your elders.

Nothing makes me more angry then when I see some 14 or 15 year old kids try to talk over queer elders and tell them what they can and cannot say about themselves and about their community.

The queer community has a long, painful, and constantly evolving history. From things like early lesbian couples and Boston Marriages to Stonewall to the AIDS crisis, a lot of shit has happened, a lot of identities have existed and a lot of words have been used.

Remember that if you’re young right now, you grew up in a time completely different than that of queer elders. You didn’t live through this stuff but you’re coming into it and you’re expecting to bend it to your own thoughts and needs. And that’s ok, you’re allowed to want to better your community and you’re allowed to change things where you see problems.

The problem arises when you haven’t done your research. When you come into the community with no background in it and try to change things. When you don’t know what happened in the past, but you think it should change or you think you know how to change it.

So story time.

I live in a very liberal dorm. A very queer liberal dorm. And each semester we have guests come speak to us about whatever they do. A couple semesters ago we had Kate Bornstein come speak to us. For anyone who doesn’t know, ze is a trans author. A much older trans author. And the entire trans club at my school decided to attend hir talk. An email was sent out by the LGBTQ resource center beforehand explaining that if people chose to attend the event, they should be aware that ze was older and probably had differing views and to take it with a grain of salt.

So I attended the talk and first of all Kate is the loveliest human. Just very sweet and ze really wants to help queer youth. But, yes, ze is a little different than say a trans 15 year old. Ze explained how ze likes to use the word tr*nny. Why? Because when ze was figuring hirself out ze found a group of other trans people who referred to themselves that way and it felt like a family. Tr*nny became a family word. However, people in the audience immediately started questioning her on this. And being rude about it.

So my takeaways from this are essentially that this was carried out horribly. First of all, I find it cringe worthy that the trans club felt the need to tell us to “take it with a grain of salt” and I found it cringe worthy that these kids fought a trans elder on zir own life story.

Why? because this wasn’t a lesson in being queer now. This was a lesson in queer history. This was a person talking about what it meant to be queer in the past and educating us on where our community came from. And that’s important.

You don’t get to tell queer elders who they are. They know who they are and what they’ve been through far more than you do. You need to sit down and learn your history before you try to tell a queer elder what it means to be queer and what words they can and cannot use. Because you know damn well that if anyone tried to take your words away from you it would hurt.

TL;DR: the queer community has a history, please learn it before you try to shit on it

If you need educating, please read And the Band Played On by Randy Shilts and Odd Girls and Twlight Lovers by Lillian Faderman. They’re a good start, but there’s always more to learn, please don’t stop.

“(Y/N), can I please speak to you and Montgomery in the classroom?”

You, the sweet, introverted, band geek, were just finishing packing up everything from your locker for the long weekend, until you were interrupted by your teacher, who was busy talking to Montgomery De La Cruz, the cocky, extroverted, asshole jock.

Quickly bidding Alex Standall, your closest friend, goodbye, you picked up your bass and backpack, and made your way into the classroom with the teacher and Montgomery, who might I add, was staring holes into your back the entire time.

“Look, Montgomery. I’m going to make it very clear that you are on the rim of failing my class. You’re passing, currently, with a 53%. I’m also going to make it very clear that the likelihoods of you getting into any college with a mark below a 60% in English is very, very slim.”

You had a slight idea of where this conversation was going, and as much as you found Montgomery physically attractive, he had a personality that definitely did not match his looks.

“(Y/N), you may know where I’m heading with this topic, but I want you to tutor Montgomery in English, until he gets his marks up to at least a 70%. I’ve already talked to him briefly about having a peer tutor, and he specifically asked for you. Now, what’s in it for you, is that this could potentially be used as extra-credit. As well as volunteer hours which look stunning on university applications, especially UCDavis.”

Your eyes widened, stunned at the idea that Montgomery wanted you as his peer tutor.

What am I to him? Why would he want me as his peer tutor?

Sure, you could sometimes feel his eyes on you in class or in the cafeteria, but you only thought of it as him looking at you because your the shy, quiet girl who doesn’t talk at all to anyone except Alex Standall; who’s practically Montgomery’s worst enemy.

You looked over at him, and saw his hazel eyes boring straight into your (e/c) eyes with a smile gracing his face.

Not his usually cocky,
or lusty,
or arrogant smile.

But a genuine smile that seemed to convey so much more than what it held.

And it was at that moment you broke. “Yes, Ms. Clark, I would be more than willing to help Mr. De La Cruz with English.”

Montgomery seemed to release a breath that he was keeping in for the past minutes and the teacher clapped her hands happily. “Perfect, okay! You’ll start today, I’ve reserved a table for the two of you in the library, happy studying!” She ushered you out of the class and shut the door on you before you could object.

Her quick change in behaviour slightly startled you, but you took nothing important of it.

You shuffled from on your feet awkwardly, not knowing how to approach the situation of talking to an attractive boy that seemed to show some interest in you. “Should we… go to the library?”

Montgomery smiled at your awkwardness and let out a quiet laugh. “Yeah. Yeah, we should.” And with that the two of you began your silent trek to the place of quiet and learning.

You were quite comfortable with silence, Montgomery, however, was not.

“So, you play the bass? I used to play, when I was smaller.” You immediately piped up at his incorrect grammar and fixed him.

“Younger, actually. You used to play when you were younger, not smaller…” Trailing off, you realized what you had said and thought that you had ruined your chances of being able to befriend him.

“Right, right, see? I’m glad I have you now as a tutor. To fix all my mistakes.”

The two of you exchanged a smile and walked in silence to the library.

Ok so these photos are not in any particular order but they made me so upset.

I recently got into kpop a little over a year ago and living in America and not be able to fully understand Korean has made it hard. However I still appreciate all the work these idols put in. No language barrier can hinder me from seeing that. So seeing this post is wicked offense to not just BTS but kpop in general.

If I’m correct (and please correct me if I’m wrong) but Jungkook is a fan of Charlie (somewhat) this cover was amazing and in my opinion better than the original. Just because you do not know of an artist, band, or even an entire genre of music does not make it below you or the music you listen too. If Charlie the man that wrote and performs this song can give Jungkook credit on a great cover than everyone should. Another thing, this girl also tweeted serval things about how they are not universally famous because they don’t play on the American radio stations and are from Korea. Like how does that make a difference. Last week in New York they played Blood Sweat and Tears sooooo idk She then goes in to say how you shouldn’t be proud of awards BTS have won because the award shows they go to are not as popular as the Grammys for example. Charlie Puth has won 8 awards from numerous awards shows in his career. Meanwhile bts has won over 53, and both artists have been around for the same amount of time. I’m not knocking Charlie or anything I’m just saying if you gonna try to come at a group and say they are not as talented or unimportant because the awards the win “don’t count” check yourself. Because in the end you look like the idiot and BTS stay winning

I am sorry I should probably know this but what do you mean by 'the time Harry's head snapped his way so fast'?

Listen. So the band was performing at the iHeart release party in 2013. Ryan Seacrest was hosting and talked to the guys on stage. He proceeded to ask them about ‘What did you guys think of each other when you first met? Did you get along with one another when you first got together?’ and Louis replied. Just briefly *cough* mentioning how they went to a certain someone’s house to get to know each other better (please note Harry’s head snap in the second gif and his reaction in the third gif..):

I’ve never seen him react that instantly before, I mean look at how fast his head snaps around! Like please Harry, calm down ;)

Hope this was helpful anon x

super casual reminder

if you spot anymore leaks regarding the new gorillaz album, please, please dont listen to them. if you caved in and listened to saturnz barz a few times, its fine, i understand. you’re impatient and excited, just like i am, but the more this gets leaked, the more likely the albums sales will do poorly because hey, its all right there online for everyone to listen to, for free

and you want to support your favorite band right? it wont be very long now until a release date for the album comes, im sure. maybe a few months at the most. we made it this long, we can go a little longer.

the boss, in her soothing voice: jack, you gotta listen to mumford and the sons. they’re folk music
snake: (does some stupid shit, like runs at her)
the boss: (just obliterates him non-violently and disassembles all of his mechanical equipment into the primal parts) Jack, I love you. Stop doing that. listen to mumford
snake: (screaming dramatically into the sky while downed)
the boss: please snake, they’re a good band

Band (Part 5)

More shenanigans from college.

- Band director: *Talking about music* It’s like you two are dancing together.
Alto sax: You’re probably better than the girl I have to dance with for the show.
Kenny: But I have big feet and large calves.
Alto sax: We could dance now….
(At this point the band is dying laughing.)
Band director: *Between laughing* Okay, we need to get back.

- Beginning of band:
(The director was showing a percussionist how to hold a shaker. So, the band director was standing beside me, waiting to catch the shaker.)
Band director: Let’s see if we can try to hit Kristen.

End of band:
(We were putting chairs away. I was standing by the chair rack, putting my horn away. A sax player was putting her chair away.)
Band director: Don’t hit Kristen! She’s a gentle soul.

- Person: Do you want a cookie?
Sax player: I can’t, cookies make me sick.
Person: It’s not even an entire cookie.
Sax player: That’s true. *Takes sliver of cookie and eats it.*

- Bass Clarinetist: *Walks into band room with really good hot chocolate from The Bakery™. He sets the cup down and leaves.*
Clarinetist: *Takes hot chocolate to the corner of the band room and kneels down on the floor.* It’s my precious. My preciousssss.
Bass Clarinetist: *Walking back in the room.* Listen here, bitch.

- Alto sax: So Kenny got another chromosome.
Kenny: You’re just now figuring that out.

- Band director: *Holding up whiteboard* Tequila!
Kenny: Do you have any?
Band director: Darn, I’m fresh out. You can try to get some at a Mexican restaurant. But they probably won’t give you any…. Okay, so Tequila.
Percussionist: HARAMBE!
Band: HARAMBE!
Percussionist: Can we say Harambe instead of Tequila?
Band director: No.
Percussionist: Please?
Band director: No.

- Percussionist: I can’t make it, it’s Thomas Jefferson’s birthday.

- *Clarinetist and Alto sax girl start throwing kernels at the saxophonist’s boyfriend. Band director notices.*
Other Clarinetist: You’re not going to stop them?
Band director: No. Just as long as they clean it up. *Watches us throwing kernels.*

- “Take the shitty cymbal. This one is like $600.”

- Band director: If you take this song (Cupid Shuffle) faster than I count off, I will cut you off.
Percussionist: *Begins to play song at half the speed.*

- *Playing Bad Romance*
Band director: *Ends song*
Percussion: *Keeps going*
Band director: *Trying to make cut off bigger* Hello??? Are these working???? GUYS WE CUT OFF.
Percussionist: Oh.

- Band director: *To percussion* Just jam some before we play the Star Spangled Banner.
Percussion: *Jams*
(They were playing something that had parts that alternated between the set player and guitar. Then everyone dropped out and it was just the set player.)
Percussionist: *Passive aggressively plays the set for three minutes straight*
(Everyone watches percussionist, confused, but dying laughing.)

AISHA DEE GIF PACK

Under the cut you’ll find roughly 113(132 counting lighted gifs idk how that happened but okay) gifs of the beautiful Aisha Dee as Kennedy in Sweet/Vicious season 1 episode 1 “The Blueprint”. Dee is an actress known for her roles as Desi Biggins on The Saddle Club, Mackenzie Miller in I Hate My Teenage Daughter and she also appeared in Chasing Life as Elizabeth “Beth”  and Baby Daddy as Olivia. She is also a musician, in her own band called Dee Dee & the Beagles. Ethnically, she is of Black (unspecified) and White (also unspecified) descent, so please cast her accordingly. The gifs are all small/medium, textless, and mostly hq. Any repeats were to just make her face bigger or to lighten the scene in case some thought it to be too dark. I made all of these gifs so credit to me and please if you decide to steal them or edit them in some way, although I’d like so say don’t do it (but some of y’all won’t listen) at least please give me some sort of credit. Please like or reblog if you plan on using. Thank you! 1/?

WHY NO ONE IS TALKING ABOUT THIS SONG

so, this is Hinata’s voice actor’s band and they are really cool, but. BUT THIS DAMN SONG IS THE MOST KOMAHINA SONG EVER AND SANG BY HINATA HIMSELF

just. listen to it, please

Lyrics:

What little gain I have to offer you
My scars all speak of where I came
What stands before you is broken and plain
I have no value to my name

My last breath
I promise you
When no one cares, I do

My hands, they shake, I swear that I can’t speak
My heart skips beats, near you I feel weak

I need, I want your love to hold me up (x2)

I dream of places I can share with you
I promise we won’t be the same
Come near to me so I can hold to you
When my world seems to break away

My last breath
I promise you
When no one cares, I do

Oh, oh, oh

My hands, they shake, I swear that I can’t speak
My heart skips beats, near you I feel weak

I need, I want your love to hold me up (x2)
My last breath
I promise you
When no one cares, I do

friendly reminder since fob is likely about to drop new music: some people will just now be getting into their music, and no matter if they only listen to the singles or if they want to hear every song, you need to be welcoming (and don’t say you can’t because they act too cringey because, seriously, most 20-something fans are 1,000% worse and so vulgar about members and whatnot… but anyway, it’s music? just chill? learn to seperate fandoms from the thing PLEASE). you don’t get to be mad at younger people for only listening to “bad” music and then shun them once they try to expand their tastes. seriously? how pretentious do you have to be? if you want to feel like you have an obscure taste in music that is untouchable to everyone else (which is impossible) then listen to underground music that isn’t officially published, but Fall Out Boy is a huge band and for some people this will likely be the first music of theirs that they experience so don’t ruin the mmrs for them!

I say this with all of the love in my heart,

Please take care of yourself during season.
Obviously take care of yourself outside of season too but please
Remember to bring water to practice and to stay hydrated outside of practices
Remember to eat *at least* two good sized meals a day and a snack before practice if its late (mine are 6:45pm-9:10pm)
If you injure yourself dont put off seeing a medical professional if it needs attention
And remember that your mental health is just as important as your physical health.
Your team may need you, but you come first.
Please listen to yourself and your body, your health is whats important.

“Part Two” by Chase Atlantic (Review)

With fans still recovering from “Part One”, Chase Atlantic fueled their ongoing fire with the release of “Part Two”, the second EP of what I’m assuming to be their take on an electrifying musical saga.

The EP was released on March 31st, 2017, and I was very eager to hear it. Although I myself am a relatively new fan of Chase Atlantic’s music, “Part One” completely blew me out of the water: compared to their older stuff, it was a major step forward in terms of their lyrics, musical production, and style. My only hope for “Part Two” was that it would be similar to its counterpart, if not better.

After finally sitting down and listening to the new EP, I had some mixed feelings about it. Although I was pleased regardless, because I like this band a lot, I’m not quite certain whether this one shook me as hard as “Part One” did.

Let’s break it down song by song, shall we?

Track 1 - Triggered.

My very first impression of this song was a quick snort through the nose. Not going to lie, the title made me chuckle. I wasn’t sure if the band was genuinely pissed off about something, or they were just making fun of Twitter users’ lingo. Either way, I was interested to see where this opening track would lead to.

Personally, I’m a sucker for dramatic album introductions. And this song had just the right amount of mystery, lust, and grunge to immediately draw me in.

The song started out with a relatively chill introduction, but the first 10 seconds definitely built up. It was quiet at first, but as soon as I heard the car revving its engine in the background, I knew I was in for a bumpy ride.

Immediately after the car sounds, I was hit with lead singer Mitchel Cave’s distinctive voice and a brand new beat.

If I was to describe this song in one word, I would use the term badass (or is that two words?). There was something about the heavy bass, deep rhythm, and the slickness in Cave’s voice that immediately painted a dauntless picture in my mind. I imagined myself thrown into the middle of a high-speed police chase after my hot boyfriend and I just robbed a convenience store. He would be driving a black SUV with tinted windows, I would be perched up in the passenger seat, and Triggered would be our get away song.

Although the chorus could’ve been fuller in my opinion, the verses and the bridge of this song were what really brought it to life for me. Lyrics like “driving ‘till we killing love” and the repetitive use of the phrase “won’t slow down” strengthened my inner feelings of love and rebellion as I bopped my head to this song’s steady beat.

The lyrics and overall theme of the song helped me realize that perhaps the meaning of “triggered” was not a reference to overused internet slang, but maybe it was referring to the shotgun my hot boyfriend was firing as we swerved on the 405, desperately trying to get away from the cops. Once again, the visuals that this song brought to life were killer (haha - see what I did there?).

In conclusion, the more I’ve listened to this song, the more I’ve come to really like it. From the lyrics, to the melodies, and to the delinquent realm it creates, Triggered is definitely my favorite tune on this EP.

Overall rating: 9.4/10

Track 2 - Cassie.

This song, unfortunately, did not woo me as much as its preceding track.

First off, what I appreciated about the song was how unique it was. In my opinion, this song was the complete opposite of Triggered, and very different from what I’ve been associating with Chase Atlantic’s more recent music. Coming right out of the sinister world of Triggered, Cassie was like a breath of fresh air and a field of blooming sunflowers right in front of me.

The general vibe of this song was very easy to pick up on within the first lines of the first verse. The light and airy beat that continued throughout the entire song reminded me of a symphony imitating the gentle ticks of a clocktower. It made my heart, still calming down from Triggered, feel all warm and fuzzy again.

Another thing I appreciated about this song was how the lyrics and the music contradicted one another. A bubbly melody is a rarity among Chase Atlantic’s newer releases, but somehow they managed to pair the uplifting beat with lyrics about drugged up veins and an impatient girl named Cassie in a way that actually worked quite well.

However, the unique airiness of this song just didn’t seem to completely win me over, though I did appreciate it. The main reason why this song did not particularly knock my socks off is because throughout the whole first listen, I kept feeling as if something was missing. Especially in the chorus, I felt like there could’ve been something else - a tempo change, another instrumental element, faster lyrics - to make it more exciting. Although the song was cute and a little brighter than the other two tracks, it was kind of forgettable.

Overall rating: 7.8/10

Track 3 - Why Stop Now.

This track has become known to me as the cool-down song, because I found it to be very chill and relaxed, but nonetheless a very interesting listen.

The introduction features a few intriguing elements that quickly brought me to the edge of my seat: more undistinguishable sound effects (were they popping pills?), the lazy strum of an electric guitar, and Cave’s muffled voice singing a few catchy lines, as if he was teasing me of what’s to come later on in this song.

The introduction slowly built up, but then quickly flushed me into the first verse. The band was back at it again with the alternative hip-hop beats, this time singing (rapping?) about self-hatred and a desperate search for Mitchel’s cell phone.

The transition into the chorus was rather quick, but nonetheless it still worked pretty well. By now I was able to conclude that this song would be slower than the other two, but I wasn’t complaining about it.

The lyrics of this song once again displayed a level of contradiction to the other elements of the tune. Lines like “Life in the fast lane. You live then you die, babe … so why stop now?” were somewhat depressing lyrics, yes, but the way Cave’s gentle and soothing tone of voice meshed together with them was quite menacing, sending shivers up my spine. If I’m thinking out loud here, he has a very sexy singing voice. Don’t @ me.

In some ways this song almost felt half-assed, but thats what I kind of like about it. Although it is slower than the other 2 tracks, Why Stop Now has this kind of vibe to it that fuels my inner desires to just “not care”, which I assume is a common mood fellow Chase Atlantic fans feel while listening to their music. And that’s not a bad thing. Being a moody 18-year-old whose just trying to figure her shit out, I need music like this to listen to from time to time. Sometimes we all just need to “not care” and chill TF out.

The reason why I still wasn’t completely blown away by this song either was the same reason as Cassie. I felt like there was something missing from this track as well, though I still can’t put my finger on it. Either way, it’s still a good jam, and I can see this one becoming a lot of fans’ favorite.

Overall rating: 7/10

Overall, the “Part Two” EP did not meet the high expectations “Part One” set for me, but that is quite all right. Triggered is a major gem of a song and I’m still going to be blasting this EP in my car for the next few weeks. Perhaps there will be a “Part Three” and maybe even a “Part Four” to help us further envision where Chase Atlantic are headed next. These EPs are obviously just a mere taste of what they’ve got in store; I feel a debut album coming soon, and I cannot wait to devour it.

AN: This is the first music review I’ve literally ever done, so please go easy on me! the fans was just talking about Kai and Uruha for her song request so Ruki (?) was complaining: what about us?????

they were talking about spoilers- they all watch foreign (western) drama, but they’re different in how fast they proceed- so I think Ru or Re were talking to Uruha about 24 season 2- but what they told didn’t happen at all (bc they watched it a long time ago and it probably was in another season)
Re:There are members who talk and talk about the dramas right? especially Kai

Re: you… this was years ago!
Ru: but you know! it sounded interesting so I wanted to watch it- but it didn’t happen like that…
Re: are you watching dramas? foreign ones or whatever?
U: humm Walking Dead became lame lately right?
Ru: good then! just (I didn’t understand maybe another drama?)
U: yeah…right…. I defenetly won’t watch it
Ru: While we had recordings I watched it for 1 hour or so but it felt awfull watching it
Re:Ah let’s talk about that! you know at Uruhas place…
U: *giggles*
Re: At Uruhas place we all did Playstation VR right? How was it?
Kai & Ruki: Amazing
U: Amazing I guess?
Re:no really it was really amazing!
Ru:Reitas reaction was disgusting right?
U:it really was! You know, the free download of Kitchen? From the very beginning he was like: woaaa ohhhh woaaa (imitating him)
Ru:(talking about some scene there) and Reita was like HAAAA haAAAAA?
Re: but Aoi was the worst with it right? he took it off right after the start!
A: impossible…just impossible
Ru: Rei-chan sweat like crazy right?
Re: oi you too!!!

Re: being in a band for 15 years, I thought about giving one thing that was really difficult
all: lol
Ru: today is pretty difficult right? lol

Ambitions for the GazettE:
A: Today Rajigaze will end,
Re: yeah
A: but without letting the bond between us five end
Re: yeah

U: ehhh?
K: stop it!
A: I want to continue, so I’m in your favor!!

U: The thing I want to say are slowly forgotten and are to be forgotten!
Re: are you okay?!
U:I want to live every moment to the fullist, so please look forward to my future self!

Every members impression about rajigaze during this one year:
Uruha: Everyone, Im rarely doing MCs and I’m kind of clumsy with them, but my tongue is just like this. if there is another chance I would like to do it again, so if that time comes- I’ll be in your favor.
Aoi: Thank you for letting a novice like me do the radio every week. We’re forever the Gazette.
Re: In these 5 years..eh no I failed-
all: loool ehhh??
Re: For one year the 5 of us were just making a lot of noise, were just reading the mails everyone send us, were doing a radio where we completely relied on others, even if 2am was such a late time, I’m just really gratefull that you listened to us and send us so many mails. I’m gonna repay you at lives!
Ru: through this radio we were able to comunicate with everyone weren’t we? It was possible bc of this radio. Also we were able to not just play the Gazette’s songs, but also other artists songs. I really would like to do it again. For now there won’t be chances to talk anymore, but please come and hang out with us at lives!
K: We were able to show you a side of us we can’t show on stage. Well I do think that this radio was great, but I’m really gratefull for the fans we encountered because of this radio. So if there’s anther chance I would like to do the radio again. Thank you very much.

Re: so we’re thinking about another way how we can meet, but until then- let’s fnish this show with 1,2 this was Gazette -we rock!

“For the love of god not this song again!” You complained as the drum beat of the familiar black Sabbath song blared through the car stereo. “We get it, you’re Iron man! Now please play something else. Anything else!”

“My car, my music.” Tony countered, dialing the volume up ever so slightly.

“Funny because last week when we were in Steve’s car, you insisted that shotgun got to play DJ.” You folded your arms over your chest.

“I’m sorry, did you want to listen to the fifty greatest hits from the big band era?” Tony smirked, keeping his eyes on the road.

“They weren’t all bad. C’mon just let me pick one song!” You reached for the touch screen that controlled the music, but Tony swatted your hand away.

“Absolutely not! I won’t have any of your Taylor Swift or whoever it is your into this week playing in my car.”

“Don’t be such a baby!” You snorted.

“I’m serious, [Y/n]! We listen to my music or we listen to nothing at all.” His tone was playful but absolute.
