just found this in one of my folders

Ronan probably always noticed how Adam’s ears would burn bright pink whenever he was embarrassed; but never thought it’d be because of him.

Just in case you ever worry you’re not Adult™ enough and don’t have enough self control for when it comes to creative projects, (cause I get asked a lot “how do you get yourself to focus” and similar questions) I have a literal separate profile on my computer that has nothing on it but Word and my project folders. No browsers, no apps, not even god damn solitaire because if I have a single thing to do other than write, I won’t do shit.

So if you’re one of those people who struggles to focus and you keep beating yourself up over not having the willpower to just make yourself focus: stop. You’re not failing, you just haven’t found the method that works for you yet.

Keep going, you’ll get there.

This year my little sister is starting high school (year 7 in Australia). To help her out I decided to write a quick post with the advice I wish I’d been given when I was her age. I hope that it will make her transition easier, and hope that it will do the same for other students starting year 7. I don’t feel like writing a rambly intro today, so let’s get right into it:

Advice On School Supplies

There are some items on an average school-issued supplies list that will probably never be used, and other items not on the list that can be useful to have. These are some items I’ve found to be useful (and not so useful) over my four years at high school.

Useful (PURCHASE):

  • Good gel or fine liner pens: Most school lists tell you to get the most basic supermarket ballpoint pens available. In my experience, these just don’t cut it for the amount of writing you need to do in high school. My suggestion? A gel pen or fine liner with small nib and heavy ink flow. A grip can add extra comfort, but personally, I don’t find one necessary. Brand wise, I love Muji 0.35/0.5 gels, Staedtler Triplus fine liners, and Arline 400 fine liners.
  • Plastic document folders: These are so, so useful! Last year I had one of these for each subject (a different colour for each!) and used them to store a notebook and any handouts that I needed for the class. They protected my papers from damage and also helped me stay organised by keeping everything from the subject in one spot and letting me just grab one folder before class rather than multiple items.
  • White out tape: So much better than the liquid stuff. For one it doesn’t require drying time, and it also doesn’t run the risk of bursting and ruining your pencil case/school bag/notebook/uniform/etc.

Not Useful (GO WITHOUT):

  • Binders: These are so clunky! If you have one per subject then they take up too much space in your bag, and if you have one for everything then you have to carry all your materials to every class. Unless you just keep loose leaf paper in a slim binder (rather than notebooks), then I suggest using plastic folders instead.
  • Binder books: Just get normal notebooks. As mentioned above, binders are clunky and unnecessary. I find it better to use non-punched books, as they don’t have holes that get in the way of your writing. Or alternatively, just fill a slim binder with loose leaf and use that instead of multiple notebooks.

Advice On Class Schedules

One of the things I struggled with most when starting high school was remembering what class I had when and what room I needed to be in. The best way to stay on top of your schedule is to write it down. However I suggest using a digital program rather than pen and paper - your schedule is likely enough to change that you want to be able to make adjustments easily. You can write it in a word processing program, but I find it most useful to use an app. With a program such as iStudiez or My Study Life on your phone/tablet, you can easily schedule your classes and also add in homework due dates. Download one of these (or a similar program), and you won’t have any problems managing your timetable.

Advice On Staying Organised

The single most useful organisational tool I’ve found in four years of searching is a program called Trello. Available as both a desktop site and a mobile app, Trello has been a saviour when it comes to staying on top of tasks. The best thing about it, and what stands it apart from other organisational tools, is its great user interface. Trello, like many other programs, allows you to set lists of tasks to be completed. Like other programs, it allows you to categorise tasks and add sub-tasks. What makes it different from other programs is the way it allows you to organise and prioritise tasks. It has a simple drag and drop interface which lets you move tasks between lists with ease, and you can do the same to re-order tasks within a single list. This is super useful when it comes to sorting tasks by priority or setting up a running-order of tasks for the day. If you want to know exactly how I use Trello, just shoot me and ask and we can set up a screenshare to explain.

Advice On Taking Notes

The best advice I can give you on taking notes is just to make sure you keep them detailed and up-to-date. A good, complete set of notes is so useful when it comes to studying for tests, and you really don’t want to leave note-taking to right before one. At year 7-9 level I found taking notes in class and from class slideshows to be adequate, but in year 10 it became important to take notes from textbooks too. This will vary school-to-school, but you can use these year levels as loose guidelines.

Advice On Studying

Spread. It. Out. I’m serious. You’re tempted to procrastinate? You’re tempted to study in one big block the weekend before the test? Don’t. Please. Trust me when I say it’s not nice to spend six hours in a day studying for the one test. Instead, study in short bursts, but study regularly. For a 7th-10th grader, I think it’s enough if your regular study regime is to simply summarise your notes at the end of each week, make flashcards, and give them a once-over study. When it comes near test time, you’ll only need a short study session to prepare. In this session I suggest you do the following:

  • Chuck the flashcards you know you’ve already memorised. Study the rest until they stick (<30 minutes).
  • Do a practice test or some practice exercises (I suggest Khan Academy for maths practice), focusing on the skills/question types you have the most trouble with (~1 hour).
  • Get together with some friends and use Kahoot to have a competitive, time-restricted quiz on the test content. You can find a pre-made quiz, or create your own for more focused study. For me, this is a really fun way to study and also the best way to make information stick long-term (~30 minutes).

Spread these activities out over the week before the test, and you are way less likely to feel overloaded than if you leave everything to the last minute.

Advice On Homework

Repeat after me: Do it before you have to. As much as it’s tempting to procrastinate, you’ll feel much less stressed if you don’t leave work to the last minute. Rather than completing only what you have to on any given day, I suggest you work until one of the following occurs:

  1. You run out of set work to do.
  2. It becomes too late to study (please stop studying at least an hour before bed and spend some time giving yourself a little TLC instead).
  3. You become too tired out and feel you can’t work productively anymore (if you don’t have anything left due tomorrow then leave the work to another day, but if you still need to complete things then take a break or nap before getting back to it).

Advice On Time Management

In lower high school, you’ll probably find that it is unnecessary to strictly manage your time, as long as you don’t waste it. By this I mean you will rarely feel you don’t have time to complete required work, as long as you don’t waste your time on pseudo-productive tasks like creating ultra-pretty presentations or copying your notes out. Just stick to the tasks that are actually required of you.

Advice On Making Friends

JOIN CLUBS! Clubs are a great way to have fun, get involved, and also meet people with the same interests as you. They provide a semi-structured environment in which to initiate conversation, rather than you having to randomly approach new people (which, if you are like me, is SCARY!), and also keep you meeting with your new pals on a regular basis. Once you getting chatting with someone you like, just invite them to sit with you at lunch and you’re off to a great start.

Markiplier Ego Imagines (pt. 10)

(For the person who anonymously asked what would happen if Sean and Signe met the Egos!)

Imagine Sean and Signe visiting L.A. for a convention, and Sean insists on meeting Mark’s Egos. Mark isn’t too keen on the idea because the Egos can be dangerous at best. But Sean’s curiosity won’t take “no” for an answer.

Imagine Bim meeting them in the lobby and just sparkling over Signe. He’s a big fan, loves her sense of style, and OMG HER PLANTS ARE SO ADORABLE!! The two of them talk about their little green babies as Sean sits back and laughs. Bim and Sean have a talk about work as performers and what it’s like always talking in a camera, and they quickly become friends. Bim is reduced to a blushing, giggling mess.

Imagine Sean geeking out over all the cool gaming equipment that the Googles have stock-piled on their floor. Green and Oliver are both Jacksepticeye trash, and they show him around the floor, pointing out all the little nuances. Google and Red are both indifferent to the green bean, but they have a civil conversation with Signe about her own channel, which they admire for its soothing nature.

Imagine Dr. Iplier secretly having a HUMUNGOUS crush on Signe. She’s so pretty and quirky and adorable, and he won’t get anywhere near her because she’s too amazing. So, he watches from a distance as the others show them around the building. Sean eventually sees him lurking, and Dr. Iplier tries to be casual. He says that he’d be interested in meeting Dr. Schneeplestein sometime, but when Signe comes over to introduce herself, Dr. Iplier hyperventilates and passes out.

Imagine Silver Shepherd asking about Jackaboy Man and whether the spandex-wearing crusader would be interested in teaming up with Silver. “I’ve been looking for a new sidekick since my last one quit,” he explains. Sean isn’t so sure that Jackaboy Man would be interested in being a sidekick, however.

Imagine Wilford Warfstache and Sean having a “loudest, most colorful person in the room” match. Wilford comes in, a blazing pink prima donna, doing his “I’m Wilford Warfstache,” intro as Sean starts high-fiving everything in sight and telling people to punch like buttons in the face. Wilford misunderstands, and “accidentally” punches Sean in the face. Signe rolls her eyes and drags Sean away from Wilford before anything more violent happens.

Imagine Signe ending up in the library, looking around at all the books when suddenly she’s greeted by a glowing baby dragon that seems to be leading her somewhere. The Host greets her with a small smile and offers her a seat (he and Amy have been working on his people skills), and Signe compliments him on his excellent collection of well-kept tomes. They talk about books for a while, about how the Host speaks Danish, and eventually Sean wanders in, being too loud for the Host’s sensitive ears. Once he realizes though, Sean is extremely apologetic and starts playing with Lewis. “Signe, I’ve changed my mind. I don’t want a dog. I want a baby dragon.”

Imagine Dark showing up. He’s had a long day. Wilford shot the water heater again, and the Googles are refusing to work on Dark’s personal computer since they found his “second-hand droid parts buyers” folder. Sean’s hair and perky personality literally hurt the Ego to look at, and he just stalks away. Signe, on the other hand, he seems very interested in. Sean takes one look at Dark and the way he’s looking at Signe and punches him in the face.

Chaos ensues.

For my personal entertainment, documenting purposes, for every BVB fan, for those who want to watch them again, and for those who didn’t get to see the stories, I collected all of them for you.

Every post on Instagram story will be uploaded in a Google Drive folder which is open to the everyone.

I’m currently still downloading the videos, but I’ll be constantly uploading all of them until celebrations are over. Just to make sure I didn’t miss one, please send me a message and I’ll work on it.

The folder can be found here.

Please reblog to share with everyone, and I hope you enjoy!

Pre-giffing tip

Using render video instead of screencapping

I never got the hang of screencapping but when importing video frames to layers in CC from long videos, I was so frustrated that the trim controls were inaccurate and would skip sections of frames. Then I looked around and discovered the render video feature. In this tutorial, I’ll show you how I use render video to make smaller, more manageable video clips for importing into layers. This is my first tutorial so I hope things are clear.

Please like/reblog if you find this useful!

What you will need:

  1. Photoshop (I’m using CC)
  2. A longish mp4 file

Headcanon: Foggy can pick up Mjolnir.

Foggy manages to spill coffee all over himself on his way out the door and has to change, so he’s running late for work, and Matt and Karen are already sequestered in the conference room with a client by the time he gets to the office. He can hear the murmur of voices but can’t pick out any of them. No Daredevil ears on him, no sir.

The front office is a bit of a mess, with papers scattered everywhere, and it takes Foggy a while to locate the file he needs to start his day. There’s one of those Thor replica hammers resting on top of a stack of folders on Karen’s desk, which is kind of cute. The client must have a kid with them. It happens sometimes - a lot of their clients can’t afford daycare, so Foggy’s gotten good at entertaining toddlers and taking notes simultaneously.

Foggy picks the up - wow, toys are getting detailed these days, kids today don’t know how good they got it - and rests it over his shoulder while he flips through the files. He’s just found the one he needs when the conference room door opens.

“…think I hear my partner out there, and between the two of us, I’m sure we can get your visa sorted out,” Matt’s saying, when Karen interrupts with “Holy shit!”

Foggy looks over to remind her not to swear in front of the clients when he sees the enormous blond hunk of Norwegian manflesh standing between her and Matt. All three of them are gaping at him.

Foggy looks slowly from Thor, the actual god of thunder, to the hammer resting on his shoulder, and back again.

“Holy shit,” he echoes.

Picture Frame

Sam Holland x Reader

Words: 435

Requested: No

This is just a little filler, blurb, drabble thing I’m still not sure what it’s called I found in my fic folder that I thought I would post so I don’t feel so guilty about taking so long writing the requests I’ve gotten. I’ve also made a decision, REQUESTS ARE CLOSED FOR NOW. I am so sorry about this. But hopefully, I’ll get everything done soon and I’ll be up and running as per usual.. I hope you all like this one!

As he reached over to switch on the lamp sitting on his nightstand, Sam’s eyes lingered on the framed picture he kept beside it. It was his favourite picture. You and him before heading off to prom. He smiled fondly at it.

You were huddled under Sam’s arm, feeling rather self-conscious in your dress. While Sam, who matched the colour of his tie to the colour of your dress like a true gent, wasn’t even looking at the camera. He was looking at you, he thought you looked so beautiful.

You never got to see that picture though. The minute Nikki showed it to Sam, he immediately told her to delete it. But when he got home from such an amazing night with you, he was secretly relieved as she handed him the freshly printed picture that she didn’t listen to him.

He bought a picture frame immediately the next day. He placed it on his nightstand, right in front of his lamp so it could be the first thing he’d turn over to see in the morning and the last thing at night.

Looking at that picture now, in the present, Sam thought that maybe that was the first time he realised he was in love with you.

Under the canopy of twinkling fairy lights that decorated the hotel ceiling during your prom night, Sam twirled you expertly (just like Tom taught him) and reeled you back into his arms. You laughed your gorgeous laugh as he secured his strong arms around your waist. Swaying to the slow music, your head resting on Sam’s chest, you could hear his heart beating wildly.

You raised your head to look up at him but he was already looking down at you.

“Are you okay, Sam?”

He nodded wordlessly, you took his breath away. The dim lighting of the hotel ballroom made you look almost ethereal. Sam felt it getting warmer in his tuxedo but he swayed with you nonetheless.

You gave yourself a few more seconds, looking at his handsome face before tucking your head back into his chest. If only you could stay in his arms just like that, the sensation was intoxicating; Sam made you feel so safe, you considered yourself lucky to be there with him that night.

Sam thought the exact same as he rested his cheek against your hair, the scent of your shampoo captivating him further. He couldn’t deny how perfectly you two fit together like that, in each other’s arms.

He placed a feather light kiss on top of your head and held you tighter.

That’s when he knew.
