#NeverForgetTheGood

*Plz feel free to add other good news (even if it’s something small like you ate cheesecake THAT is good news)

*at the end of the year I plan to remake this list with new things, fixed mistakes and links but will be posting from my side blog @iamrainbow
So let’s talk about Bi Steve Rogers.
  • He’s always been casually bi
  • Always been pretty obvious about it by media standards but The Straights™ never noticed
  • The lgbt+ community all took notice but didn’t wanna say anything in case the first avenger was actually really homophobic and would get mad
  • Then one of those shitty homophobic news stations starts talking about the rumours and how they are ridiculous because Steve is an American hero and knows traditional values and all that jazz
  • When he hears about this he decides he wants to come out
  • He researches ways to come out but all the tips he finds are for small scale situations
  • While searching he comes across dates for nyc pride
  • He calls Natasha to tell her
  • She totally supports him but warns him of media backlash and being careful and all that stuff
  • And so, a few weeks later Steve is getting ready to go to his first pride parade
  • He painted over his eyes with the bi pride colors and wore a t-shirt of his shield with a bi color pallette that he found online
  • When he gets there he immediately starts smiling??? Like, he can’t stop grinning??
  • At first no one notices it’s him because face paint and huge crowds
  • But then he finds a group of people waving bi flags around on a float and walks over
  • He starts talking to one of the girls walking next to it and about 30 seconds into their conversation she realises she’s talking to Captain America and has a mini heart attack
  • She wanted to make sure so she quietly asks his name and he happily tells her his full name
  • She almost screams but instead thanks him for everything he’s done and asks him why he’s here
  • “Well, I’m bisexual and I saw some guy on the tv talking about how there’s no way I like boys because I know ‘traditional values’ or something like that, so I decided to come to pride. Just to prove them wrong.”
  • She asks if he wants to talk to the group leader about making an announcement and he very excitedly says yes
  • She brings a man with his hair dyed blue, pink, and purple and a flag tied around his shoulders over and he gasps before going to shake Steve’s hand
  • The man brings Steve up onto the float and hands him a megaphone
  • They check around for cameras near them and once they were sure that someone would get it on camera Steve started talking
  • He basically just said he was bi as hell and loved girls AND boys, along with a little undertone of “fuck the media and it’s heteronormativity” mixed in
  • The news goes crazy within half an hour
  • When Steve gets back home he immediately contacts the news outlet that caused this whole debacle and asked if they would have him on the show
  • Obviously they said yes because who says no to a war hero
  • They try to keep the interview on the topic of his achievements but he keeps bringing up people he hooked up with during that time period
  • The first one he talked about was a girl so they were relieved
  • Most people thought the video from pride was a hoax and it was just someone claiming to be Steve and hum talking about a girl made the interviewer feel like it really was a hoax
  • But then he starts talking about the time him and Howard Stark made out in the back room of his lab and laughing about it
  • That’s when the interviewer decided to just ask him outright whether he really was in that video
  • “Yeah, that was me. Of course it was.”
  • The interviewer is baffled and mildly offended
  • “Why would you do something like that?” He asked in a way that made it seem like some huge scandal
  • “I saw someone on the news, this channel to be exact, try to disprove rumors about me being gay. Which I’m not, by the way, so at least you were half right. I’m bisexual. That means I’m attracted to both men and women.”
  • “That’s not possible.”
  • “Sure it is! It’s stars and stripes, not one or the other isn’t it?”
  • The internet has a fit
  • The lgbt+ community has never felt more alive honestly
  • Steve goes to every pride he can and talks to younger kids
  • He went on Ellen and talked about his experiences as a bisexual man in the 40’s
  • Mostly he just said he spent most of his younger years either fighting someone or crushing on someone
  • On the twitter account Tony helped him make he constantly tries his best to help out anyone who is feeling unsafe or unsure about their identity
  • Donates to lgbt+ charities
  • Probably starts a group that helps lgbt+ kids who have no place to stay by building group homes that have materials/resources specifically for them
  • So many bi jokes
  • Like any bi pun you could possibly think of he has made
  • Really helped a lot of people feel better and learn to accept themselves/others because of his openness and sheer willpower
  • Just, bi Steve Rogers being a pure force in the universe

Quarterback Comeback - Chris Evans

Request: Okay so you wrote the Falcon fan story, think you can write one where the reader is a Patriots fan? Because if I had been at that game I would have been flipping out right along side him! &

Request: Hey, do you think you can write a Chris Evans x Reader at the Superbowl, she’s also a Pats fan, and sooo much into the game. And they both yell the same thing at the same time and Chris notices her and like immediate crush, please?

A/N: Sorry if this is a bit cramped or any sort of football terminology is off, I tried to be accurate as I could. I even watched highlights of the game and went on the NFL website to look up the players, lmao. I hope this is good for both requests! Lots of love - R .x

people: Chris!SuperBowl - Reader ft. Scott Evans & Jeremy Renner

warnings: nope.

“Yeah! Fuck yeah! Is this was euphoria feels like? Cause I’m high as a fuckin’ kite, that was sick, man!” You gave a double high five to Renner before turning to take a sip of your beer, which was missing.

What the fuck, who takes a beer at the Super Bowl? Are we savages?

“Chris, I think someone stole my beer, Imma go get another-” Just as you were searching through your purse you glanced up at your boyfriend to see him frozen, with a beer situated right on his lips.

Popping up, you snatched your beer out of the thieves hands. Putting it on your other side knowing Renner would spit it out any of the beer if he decided to steal it. It was Bud Light and Renner was too fancy for that shit, so he says.

“Hey! Asshole! Ain’t you got millions? Get your paws off my drink!” I poked at Chris’s Patriot covered chest and saw those blue eyes begin their trick of puppy dog eyes, the ones I never could resist from him, ever.

“I thought we share now? Besides, it’s like God is upon us now! We have a fucking lead we’re so close, babe. We’re gonna win. I know it. Forget the beer we are going to be champions again-” We swing our heads as Scott yells out for us to look out onto the field- oh fuck.

“BRADY! FUCK YEAH! OH, MY GOD! YES, YES YES!”

“BRADY! FUCK YEAH! OH, MY GOD! YES, YES YESSSSSSSS!”

You saw your second boyfriend (to be fair, Chris didn’t really care and actually would agree anytime you talked about how Tom’s ass looked damn fine in his uniform.

“Are you two fuckin’ like psychic? What the hell?” You both turned to Renner and rose a brow to him,

“What do ya mean?” Chris took a swig of his own beer can, and let his eyes drift back and forth to the field as Brady got Pat’s for his slide into the 40-yard line.

“You two have been yelling the same thing at the exact same time for like twenty minutes, I’d think you’ll we’re from the shining if you guys weren’t fuc-”

Punching his shoulder you just smirked at Renner and shook your head, “It’s called telekinesis, Jer. We get it whenever we watch sports. It’s like all of a sudden we share a brain-” You took a slow glare to Chris jokingly, “And apparently beer’s now too…”

Chris only laughed and grasped your waist, pulling you snug into his side as the team set up again. “You think they’ll come back from 3 to 28?”

Scott asked nonchalantly, only to have you and Chris simultaneously tell him, “Yeah we fuckin’ arah! We turning this steamboat around.”

You giggled at this weird formation that only now you realized looked probably quite disturbing outside of your mind and Chris’s as well. “We’re weird, aren’t we?”

“Yup. Psychos whose team is about to lock this shit down.” You gave Chris a peck to his arm before turning back to the game, only to see a goddamn miracle happen as White took a dive, landing a touchdown but just inches.

“Yeah! Oh, my! God!” You and Chris looked at each other with eyes filled to the brim with joy. Except, normally the passion that was in between you was not because a sweaty guy just got sacked by a bunch of other sweaty guys and managed to still land a touchdown.

“Still worried we ain’t gonna win, Scottie?” You leaned over and looked at Scott as he gave you a fuck off smirk and shook his head, pinching the bridge of his nose.

“Oh good, god. I’m gonna have to have to Chris’s in my life now? Is this what it’s gonna be like, every time the Patriot’s get to the Super Bowl? Because if so, I’m gonna start charging you both for my additional weekly therapy sessions.”

Chris just laughed loudly, clapping his heads as he threw his head back, obviously getting a bit Drunk Happy. You just chuckled to yourself and downed the rest of my beer, setting it aside and focusing back on the game.

                                                          …

You knew they were going to make a comeback, it was what New Englander’s did. We turned around in the last moments and came together to fucking smash the glass ceiling every time. We never stop and we don’t even let our minds wander in the final hours of the game. To see the ball make it across the white line, and into the zone, landing us Patriots, another. Fucking. Win.

Confetti went off as you and Chris jumped up and down, high from the electricity in the air of fellow Bostonians and Englander’s cheering the team for their miraculous victory. “Oh my god! Yes! Yeah, yeah, yeah!” You shouted along with Chris as we roared with the fans.

Taking in the victory of another win. Feeling Chris tug slightly on your arm made you turn towards him only to be picked up by the inward curve of your waist, and have a pair of beer tasting lips kiss you fiercely. Not bothering in holding back anything between you both as he kissed you with as much force as he could without pain. You draped your arms around his neck, letting your legs snake around his waist. Suddenly forgetting you were in public and people we most likely filming this. You frankly, give a damn, because your Quarterback was kissing from the victory.

You almost pulled away from Chris with the love he poured into the kiss, feeling as if it was too much for your body to handle with all the excitement and beer running through you, right now. He pulled his head away and gave a dreaming, toothy grin that made you giggle softly into his neck while leaned in. You embraced the teddy bear of a man while swaying together back and forth in almost a hypnotic motion. Letting the cheers take you both different places. It was weird looking at everyone jumping and screeching, yet you’d just been that person who was tugging at their hair, grabbing anyone in sighting to tug them towards the scene below you, or even just shouting fuck over and over.

You couldn’t help but chuckle at the chaos that surrounded you both, and the euphoria that laid in between are bodies, almost like we found a transportation device and we’re no longer at the stadium. We’re just together, loving one in another in a celebration of joy and love. After the last year, this win felt more than a victory for the Patriots, it felt like a win for you and Chris, personally.

After the fights that you both went through together, united as one for the injustice that America was receiving these days, and much more to come, it sucked to believe tomorrow would resume normally. You kept in mind that in this moment, confetti popped and fell all around us, some catching even in your tangled locks.

“I mean, I hate to say this, Scott, but look how cute the Shining twins are? It’s like a football romantic dramedy!” Chris’s friend John teased you both as he pointed his camera towards us both, making Scott laugh and swat at John’s camera

“Hey! It’s only during football season we become one. The rest of the time we are in a war together on who is better than the other at what. Let’s be honest, babe. I’m better, always.”

You slapped Chris on the chest and giggled, taking his unfinished Bud light from behind him, and slowly bringing it to your lips, “You keep telling yourself that, Buddy Boy. Just remember that we have film age of me kicking your ass all the way to Colorado in table tennis.”

“Shots already fired and we aren’t even out of the damn stadium yet!” Scott groaned, smacking his hand to his forehead. Jeremy let out a gruff laugh and patted my back as you situate yourself back on the ground again, fixing your top that had risen slightly.

“Congrats Scott on your newest sibling!” Jeremy teased to across at Scott who was smiling and shaking his head. “I’m in for a new hearing aid when they have a baby and becomes the ultimate super pat’s fan. Can you imagine?”

“Yes, I can, dork! And she’s also part of the team and is alongside all the best players and has gotten twenty super bowl rings so yeah!” You smiled at Chris delicately, as if he was suddenly made of glass. His voice never wavered when he replied to Scott, meaning he’d thought about our daughter in the NFL before. Not just making it up right now.

“Hmm, Baby Evans, Quarterback for the Patriots and winner of… a noble peace prize! I like that, babe. Let’s go start planning her future college fund, right now! Well, after we celebrate, then we can start her college fund and map out where she’ll play in college…”

Chris smiled and jumped for joy like a jumping bean suddenly made its way into his heart. Chris couldn’t help but dream about the perfection of you and him, crossed together to make the most amazing human being.

Chris knew that whatever gender, whatever personality, they’d have a Quarterback baby. It wasn’t the worst thing in the world to think about, though. He couldn’t help but smile more and more at the thought of a baby Evans wandering around during a future Super bowl, with a tiny Brady jersey on during the game.

Something to look forward too, in the next few years.

At least that was Chris’s hope.

I can’t keep my Chris!Dad feels down, guys!!! I mean like look below, COME ONNNNN! They always come out in my writing, lol. I hope you enjoyed it!

Requested. (I kept trying to write this with winter soldier Bucky but felt so strongly that this quote was more 1940′s Bucky)

Song or quote : Of course I would date you, who wouldn’t?
Who: Bucky Barnes

“You look absolutely ritzy, [Y/N].” Clare exclaimed once she saw her friend step out from behind the changing curtain, “You’re gonna knock em all dead when they see you tonight!”

[Y/N] frowned as she looked at herself in the mirror, “You sure?” Turning and twisting her body, she scrunched up her nose. “Maybe I shouldn’t tonight, Clare.” Turning to face her dolled up friend, she sighed.

“Oh, no you don’t.” Clare stamped her foot in protest, “We’re going to this dancing joint and we’re gonna find ourselves a couple of big sixes and not some drugstore cowboy, you hear?”

Nodding her in head defeat, she followed Clare out the door and towards the joint that her friend had been raving about non stop. It took around ten minutes before they ended up waving down a cab and took even longer to reach their designation. Enough time for it pass by for [Y/N] to realize that her going out tonight in her ruby red dress was a mistake. But, she had nowhere but to go except for wherever Clare was taking her.

“Everyone here looks so spiffy! Don’t ya think, [Y/N]?” Clare linked arms with [Y/N] as they weaved in and out of the place. Lowering her voice but still containing excitement, she breathed out, “So many flappers-oh look there’s John! Remember him, huh? He’s a fly boy now.” If Clare’s heart could have leaped out of her chest and onto the floor, [Y/N] would have bet a nickel that it had just done so. “Do I look okay?”

[Y/N] pressed her lips into smile, forcing herself into it knowing that the minute she said yes, Clare was going to bound off towards him. “You look always look swanky, Clare.”

Squealing loudly, Clare tore herself away [Y/N] and sprinted towards John who she had to admit had grown up quite nicely from the little scrawny boy he used to be.

It felt like hours had passed by as [Y/N] watched Clare and John laugh it up. At least someone’s having a good time, she thought as she ordered another drink. Just as she was about to take a sip, her attention was pulled elsewhere to the sound of a man talking to her.

“Hey there, doll. What’s a pretty dame like you doing all by yourself?”

Turning her head to face the voice, her eyes lit up to find a familiar face. Standing up from her stool, she winced as she almost knocked over her glass. “As I live and breathe, is that you, Bucky?”

Grinning, Bucky spun around in his uniform, “It sure is.”

Without thinking twice, she reached for a hug. It had been months since she had last seen him. She had grown up just down the street from Bucky from the time they were little kids. After a minute of hugging him, she took a step back and admired his digs. “You look mighty spiffy and is that? Would you look at that, Sergeant Barnes.” [Y/N] gently tapped the plate on his chest and beamed, “That’s wonderful!” Sitting back down on her stool, she frowned, “Say, where’s Rogers?”

Bucky shrugged, sitting down next to her, “Said he was feelin’ under the weather.” Ordering a drink for himself, he flickered a look towards [Y/N] when she wasn’t paying attention. Bucky had always found her to be exquisite, he was just always too afraid to use his lines on her. “Speaking of friends, where’s your trouble maker Clare?”

Snorting softly, [Y/N] shrugged as well. “Beats me, John probably went to take her to go neck.” Twirling a curl of hers, she sighed, “I don’t know why I keep agreeing to go out with her when all I know is that she’ll leave me when we get there. I’m such a pushover.”

Frowning, “You aren’t a pushover, come on, stop” He leaned forward, smiling lightly, “Between you and me, doll. Clare’s just lookin’ for a daddy, you and I both know that.” Sitting straight up, he looked around the place, “I’m sure you do just fine on your own anyways.”

“Oh yeah? Tell me why you’re the only one that’s approached me so far.” Sulking, she sighed again. “I’m just a plain ole Jane whenever Clare’s around. You and I both know that.”

“Says you!” Bucky halfway shouted incredulously. Throwing apologetic looks to the patrons around the bar for startling them, he shook his head as he looked dead straight into [Y/N]’s eyes. “Doll, you’ve got it all wrong. You’re the kind of dame that a fella walks down the middle aisle.”

Shaking her head, she chuckled. “You’re all wet, Barnes.”

He chuckled along with her, “I’m serious. These fellas,” Bucky looked around, shaking his head, “aren’t the kind of fellas you want anyway [Y/N].”

“And I suppose the kind of a fella I should be after is someone like you, huh?” She remarked playfully.

Bucky smirked, “As a matter of fact, yes.”

[Y/N] froze, “Wh-what?”

Standing up from the stool, he held out his arm, “Come on, baby. Why don’t we go to the Tin Pan Alley and blow this joint. I know how much you love that music.”

Staring at him with her mouth hung slightly open, she struggled to get the words out of her mouth. “Are you, are you asking me on a date?”

Chuckling, “Yes m’am.”

“But why?!”

Bucky gently grabbed [Y/N]’s shoulders and stood her up from the stool. “Because doll, you’re the only dame in here that’s kept my focus all night. Took me an hour just to muster up the courage to come over and talk to you.”

“But, we’ve been friends for years, Buck. You know you can always talk to me.”

“Normally, yes.” Bucky replied, giving her a small smile, “But not when you’re wearing this beautiful dress. I’m stuck on you, doll. So what do you say? Come with me to Tin Pan Alley. I promise you’ll have a good time. I’ll take you dancing another night.”

“Another night?” [Y/N] squeaked, “You mean there will be other nights with you?”

Bucky threw his head back and laughed, “What is with you?”

Shaking her head, she nervously laughed. “Nothing, it’s just, it’s strange to hear that you’d date me.”

“Of course I would date you, who wouldn’t?” Bucky said with a brow raised.

Motioning to the crowd dancing, “All of them.”

Snaking an arm around her waist, he chuckled low. “Good, because then that means you’re all mine. I promise I won’t be a flat tire tonight, [Y/N]. Give me a chance to turn this night around.”

Nodding, she smiled. “I’ll give you a chance, but, uh, Bucky?”

“Yes, doll?”

“That banks closed, so no funny business.” She pulled away from his grasp and slung on her coat, giving him a smirk.

“What? Come on, doll. Not even a single kiss tonight?”

Patting his shoulder, she giggled. “Not even one.”

Watching her head for the door, he shook his head and laughed. “I see you’re going to make me work for it, it’s alright. I like a challenge.”

Slipped Through His Grasp

Title: Slipped Through His Grasp

Pairing: Steve Rogers x Reader, Bucky x Reader

Genre: Slight angst, Slight fluff

Summary: Steve didn’t know what he had, until it slipped away from him, right into Bucky’s arms.

Peggy’s death hit him hard. It was one of those moments where it hits him right in his face; the ugly truth that even though he was this high and mighty super soldier, he could not stop all deaths. Some just slip right through his grasp.

But there she was, standing beside him, her small but comforting hand atop of his. She was Steve’s best friend. A tiny girl with a heart big enough to accept all his flaws, staying by him no matter what.

A year after Peggy’s passing, Steve began to move on. He started to loosen up when someone introduced him to a lady, he started to give small smiles and could even muster some harmless flirting here and there.

But there she was, still standing by him, a small, pained smile hung on her lips. Eyes downcast, as she heaved yet another sigh. She’ll never be on the receiving end of Steve’s flirting or his lingering gaze. She’ll always just be his “best doll”.

“(Y/N)!” he called out as he walked into the kitchen, wearing a pair of dark navy sweatpants, white shirt clinging onto him, damp with perspiration.

She was preparing his breakfast as he was walking in. She knew by heart what time his finished his morning jog, how he preferred his eggs on his toast, how he drank his coffee; all these little bits and pieces of information she picked up only served to make her love for him grow.

Burying those thoughts to the back of her mind, she turned to face him, both their breakfasts in hand, she gave him a smile and said, “Morning Cap. Breakfast?”

He circled over to grab the plates from her and replied with a chuckle, “You really are my best girl, doll.”

The duo settled into a comfortable silence until Steve looked up and said “So… I met this girl…”, voice laced with a bit of embarrassment with matching flushed cheeks.

Hearing those words, she felt a hard tug at her heart and the breakfast she was eating suddenly tasted like cardboard. She swallowed her food, tried to push her tears back and gave him the same pained smile on her lips as she whispered “That’s great Steve! I’m… I’m sure she’s amazing.”

Three months passed after the breakfast conversation, Steve and his girlfriend are cuddled on the cozy couch in the compound’s entertainment room as a movie played in the background. (Y/N) walked into the room, took in the sight and hastily turned back to the corridor leading to her bedroom.

Tears of frustration started pooling in her eyes, her eyebrows furrowed and her footsteps heavy. In the haze of her anger, she didn’t notice the figure coming out from the gym. The figure had his eyes trained on her back, a sense of longing seeping through as he sees her turn into the comfort of her room.

Bucky was mostly a quiet soul. Partly from his assassin training, partly because he didn’t know how to fit into a group that used to hate his guts. Most of the Avengers were more than okay with leaving him to his privacy, all of them but (Y/N).

When Steve finally found Bucky, cleared up all the Civil War mess and brought him back to the compound, Bucky couldn’t bring himself to look at anyone in the eye, let alone speak to them. Most of the S.H.I.E.L.D agents were wary of him, and the Avengers left him on his own and pretended he didn’t exist.

(Y/N), though, understood his need for silence. But she also never let him forgot he belonged. She started making an extra big serving of breakfast for him when she prepared hers and Steve’s. She also made sure to include old 40’s films when it was her turn to pick for movie night. She knew Bucky wouldn’t join them, but she tried anyway. She just wanted him to know someone cared.

Another three months has passed, Steve was still with the pretty S.H.I.E.L.D agent. This was the longest relationship he’s had since he came out of ice. (Y/N) and Bucky’s friendship has also blossomed into something neither of them expected. They found solace in each other’s silence and comfort in each other’s gaze.

“(Y/N)! (Y/N)? Doll? You here?” Bucky called out, hesitantly pushing her bedroom door open.

(Y/N) was huddled in her thick blanket, sniffles could be heard coming from under.

Hearing that, Bucky hastily closed the door and settled himself on her bed as he quietly wrapped a strong arm over the lump of her covered in the blanket. They stayed in the position in silence for a good long while until (Y/N) poked her head out from under, her face red from sobbing.

She took a few deep breaths and gave the worried soldier a shaky smile.

“I’m okay. I’m sorry I scared you,” she said, her voice hoarse.

Bucky circled his arm around her waist and hoisted her over to him, placing the girl in between his legs. She leaned back into him and snuggled into his warm form.

“Doll? Will you… will you tell me what’s wrong? I’m worried for you. This is the third time I’ve found you like this in the past month.” he whispered as he placed his stubbled chin on her head.

After a short moment of silence, she let out a resigned sigh and closed her eyes. “It’s… it’s Steve,” she said, her voice small and shaky.

“He’s canceled six times on me in half a year. We were supposed to go for the WWII exhibition in town today, but he’s gone with his girlfriend instead,” she said.

Letting out a self-depreciating smile, she continued on, “I mean, it sounds kind of petty doesn’t it? Forget what I said, I’m just a little on edge recently.”.

Bucky’s arms tightened around her waist, wanting to provide her with any amount of comfort, no matter how little.

“Hey, doll… Do you want to go for the exhibition with me tomorrow? I’d have you know I was a respectable sergeant of that time!” Bucky asked, chuckling into her shoulder.

From that day on, Bucky and (Y/N) not only found solace and comfort in each other, they found a sense of belonging, a load of fun and laughter as they spent most of their waking time with one another.

The two were enjoying breakfast over playful banter as Steve walked into the kitchen. He furrowed at the sight, a slight pang of anger hitting him as he sees Bucky wiping a spot off the corner of (Y/N) mouth.

“Morning,” Steve mumbled out as he took his seat next to (Y/N). The flash of surprise on the two’s faces did not escape Steve’s eyes as his annoyance bubbled seeing the coordinated expression on his two friends’ faces.

“Hey, Steve! I didn’t know you’re joining us for breakfast! I’ll go prepare yours now. Just give me a moment alright!” (Y/N) said, hopping off her chair.

“Doll, let me help. I’m almost done with breakfast.” Bucky offered, following her.

Steve’s frown deepened at the nickname Bucky called his best friend.

“You’re usually having breakfast with Jeanette at this time, aren’t you? Where’s she? Should I prepare hers as well?” (Y/N) asked, rummaging through the fridge.

“No. She’s off for a spa appointment with her friends. Again.” Steve grumbled, eye still not leaving the pair standing side by side preparing his breakfast.

It took a whole month till Steve realized what was wrong. Why his heart clenched as he saw Bucky and (Y/N) together doing some mundane day to day activity. He didn’t want Bucky to be the one standing next to (Y/N), he didn’t want Bucky to be the one helping her grab the plates from the highest shelves, he didn’t want her to be wearing Bucky’s shirts, he didn’t want Bucky to be who she screamed for when she spots a spider in her room. He wants it to be him. Steve Rogers.

But as he looked over at her, a huge smile hung on her face, her tiny body engulfed in Bucky’s gray sweater, her hair splayed over his chest, giggling as Bucky whispered something in her ears, he realized, all he could do was wish.

There was once he thought even as a super soldier he couldn’t control what slipped through his grasp. And that hurt. Now, knowing that he let something so precious slip through his grasp, something his efforts could have helped salvage, his heart felt like it broke into a million pieces over and over again.

He let the best thing he had slip right through his grasp.

Classic

Ok, so @magicaldestiny was SO KIND to let me off the hook for her birthday fic while I was drowning in Spacedogs stories. So I would like to thank her for that and say….LOOK! I remembered to do the thing, months later. Please forgive the lateness - as well as how incredibly sappy this is m’dear.

Will pulled the blanket around him, trying to control the shivers that wracked his body.  This was worse than the cliff - worse than the sound of his skull rattling as Jack screamed for Hannibal to stop the saw. Will let himself loll to the side, head thumping weakly on the arm of the sofa. Through half-closed eyes, Will saw calf-leather loafers shuffling toward him.

“If you were planning to kill me again, now would be a great time,” Will moaned, letting his eyes fall closed. He heard the clink of a tray as it settled on the coffee table before he felt himself being pulled upright and settled against a warm, solid mass.

“I wouldn’t dream of killing you,” Hannibal murmured in Will’s ear, offering him a steaming cup of tea. “Unless you wipe your nose on my hand loomed throw again.”

“I apologized for that.” The tea smelled of ginger, Will gulped it down.

“Hmmm, and yet the stain remains.”

“You know you actually gutted me, right? Like, my actual innards spilled out.”

“I regret that more than you’ll ever know.” Hannibal sighed, pressing a kiss behind Will’s ear. “I’m sure the floors had to be refinished. They were original to the house.”

“If I wasn’t three seconds from dying, I’d smack you.”

“Don’t be ridiculous, Will. You’ve got hours before dehydration would even seriously threaten you.” Hannibal held up a bowl of soup and made Will swallow a few spoonfuls. “There, I’ve just bought you another half hour, at least.”

“Did Hopkins ever talk to you about bedside manor?”

Hannibal smirked. “I’ve never had any complaints.”

Will sneered. “Sex puns? When I’m too weak to defend myself? Have you no mercy?”

“None.”  Hannibal fed Will a few more swallows of soup before setting the bowl on the table. “Now, how shall we wait out this illness? I could read to you? Perhaps play something?”

Will opened his mouth, then snapped it shut. Hannibal frowned.

         “What?”

“You won’t want to do it.”

“I would have thought after the incident in Pallentine Chapel, you’d know there is very little I’m not willing to do to and for you.”

“For the last time, if I had known that goddamn nun was watching us, I wouldn’t have-”

Ed Sheeran: Up All Night With Pop's Hardcore Troubadour | Full Rolling Stone Interview

“Let’s go to my place for the finale!” Ed Sheeran shouts as he hops into an SUV. It’s just after midnight in London. Sheeran spent much of the evening in a bar, but even with his bright-red hair hidden under a ball cap, people started to recognize him. The DJ played one of his songs, and his friends had to create a wall around him so he could drink in peace. It all made him a little anxious, which is why we’re speeding to his West London home to keep the party going.

Sheeran is celebrating tonight because he knows he’s about to score his first Number One hit in America with “Shape of You,” a sleek, funky stomper from his new album, ÷ (pronounced Divide). We’re joined by his girlfriend, Cherry, and his old friends Zack, Nathan and Catherine, who have been watching him perform since he released his first album, The Spinning Man, when he was 13. “I went plywood,” Sheeran, now 25, jokes about that LP. “Not gold. I sold 100 copies.”

Sheeran has been going hard tonight: espresso martinis and rum-punch shots at dinner, gin and tonics at the bar. It’s my birthday, and at one point he grabs my phone, takes a selfie of us and posts to my Instagram, writing “It’s my birthday bitches #london #hashtag #believe #achieve #inspiration.” He encourages friends to knock back pints with a drinking song that ends “Na na na na/Hey hey hey/You’re a cunt!”

Soon, we arrive at his house, a five-floor, industrial-style space with brick walls, wood floors and several personal touches: a Charmander Pokémon stuffed animal in his bedroom and a bong shaped like Benny Blanco’s head in the living room. There’s also a recording studio, a gym and a full bar, where he recently entertained several young cast members of his favorite show, Game of Thrones. As we arrive, Sheeran offers bedrooms to anyone who wants to “get rowdy,” then goes to work mixing drinks.

Soulmate

Request: Can I request a soulmate AU with Steve and a dark skinned black woman with box braids? Where your soulmates name is on your wrist. And Steve didn’t have a name on his wrist until he came out of the ice.

Steven Grant Rogers was a pretty normal sounding name  it didn’t have to be the super soldier in the history books. People used to tease you about it  when you were young. Captain America was dead, they’d say you were going to fall in love with a corpse. Steven Grant Rogers is a normal name and anyone could have it, you would assure yourself. It didn’t have to be a dead man.

The day they found Captain America in the ice you were out getting groceries. You assured yourself it didn’t have to mean anything. So he was alive, that didn’t mean he had to be your Steven Grant Rogers. No need to get your hopes up. As fate would have it you ran into a lot of Stevens and Steves, but none of them were yours, so you gave up looking. You started wearing a bracelet around your wrist to cover up the name of the  man who was supposed to be your other half. Sometimes people never met their soul mate; the world was cruel like that. There were sites where you could search for your soul mate but you figured if it was meant to be it would be.

You were working as a waitress when you met him for the first time. He was sitting with his teammates silently listening to them talk. He was at one of your tables. You took a deep breath and strode forward greeting the table that held a billionaire, two assassins and Captain America.

“Hello, my name is Y/N and I’ll be your server today. Can I start you guys off with drinks?” you spoke. Everyone shifted to look at you with wide eyes. You looked back at them confusedly.

“I can come back if you’re not ready yet,” you stammered taking a preliminary step back.

“What’s your full name?” the Black Widow asked and you stammered out your full name.

“Well I’ll be damned,” Tony Stark murmured, “Looks like there’s a reason your mark was a little delayed Cap.”

You looked over to Captain America with a confused stare. Something deep inside you knew what they were talking about, but your mind refused to believe. You refused to believe that all this time everyone had been right. Unconsciously you touched the bracelet covering the name.

“Would you write your name for us?” the Black Widow addressed you again and you did what she said mechanically, grabbing your pen from your apron and scrawling your name on your notepad before showing it to them.

“Steve, it’s her,” the man beside Steve mumbled.  Steve nodded slowly still looking at him.

“Can I see your mark?” Steve finally spoke. You stuck out your wrist without thinking about the thick bracelet covering your wrist. He removed it and beheld his name in his own handwriting etched  into the dark brown skin of your wrist. He looked back up at you and showed you  his mark. It was your name and in your handwriting. He was  your Steven Grant Rogers.

“What now?” you all but whispered. You felt a braid fall out of the otherwise neatly wrapped bun on top of your head and didn’t even care to try and put it back up. This was life changing. There were so many books about what to do when you met your soul mate but none of that mattered now. This was real and he was here.

“When do you get off work?” Steve asked.

“In 2 hours.”

“Do you like coffee?” he smirked. You smiled back at him and nodded. You were nearly useless for the two hours until your shift ended. You had to get someone else to cover their table so that you could quietly hyperventilate in the back. After years of teasing, and heartbreak he was there and he was hot! You sent a silent thank you to God for delivering you Captain America.

As your shift was over you took off your apron and pulled your braid out of the tight bun. They fell heavily  just as you noticed Steve at the bar seemingly waiting for you. He stared at you with a look so awestruck you felt like blushing. You walked over to him with a bashful smile.

“I hope you don’t mind the uniform,” you laughed, realizing you were still in your white button up and black slacks, however the clothes fit you well and part of the restaurant’s waitress requirement was to look at least a little attractive.

“You look beautiful,” he assured. You smiled and looked down at your feet.

“How about that coffee? I could use it.”

“Hope you don’t mind motorcycles.”

The two of you sat in a little café with nice music, and better coffee and you talked well into the night. Countless romance authors tried to write what it felt like to be with your other half but they weren’t even close to describing the feeling of pure joy in your heart. It was like talking to someone who already knew you.  It was talking to exactly the right person for every subject. You were the same where it mattered the most and different in the ways you absolutely needed. In a rare break in conversation you noticed Steve just looking at you.

“What?” you laughed a little.

“Sorry, I just… this feels like a dream. I remember being a kid in the 40’s thinking he was gonna die alone and I wish I could go back and tell him his mark was just late, and the girl meant for him was gonna be greater than anyone he could possibly deserve,” his gaze looked glassy as he continued to stare at you like you were the whole world and the moon and the sun it revolved around.

“I wish I could go back and tell the kids who teased me about my soul mark to eat a dick. I won the game of fate,” you spoke solely for the purpose of making the little bit of sadness in his expression go away. It worked and his laughter felt like tangible love on your skin.

The two of you didn’t leave until the early hours of the morning when you were half delirious from sleep deprivation. He took you back to your apartment and walked you all the way to your door. You kissed his cheek.

“I’ll see you tomorrow,” you assured.

“I’ll be here at 2,” he promised.

“At 2.” you didn’t want him to ever leave, but you’d never go to sleep if he stuck around so you closed the door and went straight to bed, excited for tomorrow and for forever with your soul mate.

Pairing: Bucky Barnes x reader
Words: 1268
Warning: sad and angry reader

Summary: Bucky and [Y/N] found themselves in the 21st century, the only problem - [Y/N] doesn’t know that Bucky is still alive and that he tries to find a way to get back into her life.

Masterlist

Another punch hit the thick punching bag and a great amount of sand spilled out of it. Sighing [Y/N] pick it up and threw it to the pile of broken punching bags next to the door. Some of them were also kind of frozen.

After the experiment with Howard in the 40s, [Y/N]’s body temperature was below the average. First Howard thought that she might die but after he made a few quick tests they both finally realized that [Y/N] had the power to control ice and had the ability to heal very fast. Just like Steve. At first she didn’t know what to do and how to control it but shortly after Steve found her and she started training, Wanda helped her with her powers because the brunette knew how it was to be afraid of this great responsibility.

“Wow, you smashed more of them than I” Steve came into the training room and laughed quietly as she stretched herself. [Y/N] looked over her left shoulder while Steve examined the punching bags that were laying next to him “It’s hard to control the power but…it gets easier with time. Wanda helped me a lot”

“Good. I’m glad that you and the others get along. First I was worried that you might be a little bit shy or scared because of your new surrounding.” Steve smiled softly and throw some of the old punching bags over his shoulder and took the others in his free hands.

[Y/N] gave him a tight smile when Steve winked and nodded towards the door “I bring them outside. You should take a shower and get some rest. You know because of the mission”

Nodding, she took her bag and made her way back to her bedroom where [Y/N] decided to take a shower.

Dressed in a white top and gray sweats, [Y/N] went to the great archive that was in the basement. She had to prepare for the new mission on Wednesday. Tony told her she had to take down another Hydra base together with Wanda and Vision which was located in the north of America because there were still some agents who worked for the organisation.

[Y/N] sat down in front of the desk and went through old files of Hydra because since the 40s some things had changed. Red Skull was dead and Alexander Pierce as well.

While [Y/N] read some of the reports, she saw a file that was laying in the back of the archive. With a puzzled look, she stood up from her spot and picked the old and yellowed file up.

The Winter Soldier.

“The Winter Soldier?…” she mumbled to herself and laid the file on the others she had read a few minutes ago. She worked with the others for so long and against Hydra but she never heard something about the Winter Soldier.

She sat back down and opened the file.

Shocked [Y/N] read the reports of the soldier. He was an assassin and was responsible for many assassinations through the years. The file said that many agents called him a ghost, someone who doesn’t exist because he was set to kill people for 50 years and still wasn’t dead.

But when she turned the last page of the file, she noticed that some pages were missing. Like somebody ripped them out on purpose.

“Friday, could you show me all the things you can find out about the Winter Soldier? Bring it on the big screen.” [Y/N] went to the big screen next to the table and waited until some pictures and documents appeared on it while Friday gave her a little speech “The Winter Soldier is an assassin who worked for Hydra for over 50 years. Shortly after the attack on the Triskelion, he disappeared just like the other Hydra agents. No one ever saw him again.

In 2014 he was identified as James Buchanan Barnes by Agent Steven Rogers, a soldier from the Second World War. He was-”

“Wait!” [Y/N] stopped the computer system and stared at the picture of Bucky that was shimmering on the screen in front of her. It felt like her soul left her body as she sank back on the stool. Tears flooded right into her eyes but before she could began to cry, rage began to form. Furious, she  swang the door open and stamped through the hallway “Friday, tell me the location of Agent Rogers”

“Agent Rogers is in the living room together with Agent Wilson and Agent Barton” the system answered quickly while [Y/N] made her way into the elevator and pushed the button to the third floor where the living room was.

“I swear, she didn’t even look my way” Sam laughed and put his beer down on the table when they heard the sound of the elevator. Clint closed the fridge and smiled when he saw [Y/N] coming but it changed rapidly when he saw her facial expression.

Just like Steve who stood up and wanted to ask her what’s wrong when she pushed him against the next wall.

“Why didn’t you tell me!?” she screamed at him. Her eyes were full of hate and sadness at the same time “You knew that Bucky was alive the whole time and you thought not telling me is a good idea!?”
Sam’s eyes went wide as he whispered “Fuck I knew it…”

“[Y/N], I can explain” Steve coughed as she hold him by his throat and let go in the next second. He gasped and held his side before he stood straight again and met the gaze of [Y/N] who now started to cry.

Just in that moment, Sam and Clint decided to leave them alone and went outside.

“So?” [Y/N] sniffed while Steve noticed how the room became a few degrees colder. He sighed and closed his eyes before he spoke again “I can’t explain it. I think I just wanted to protect you. He changed, [Y/N]. Hydra changed him. When I met him one year ago, he couldn’t remember me. He looked at me like I was a total stranger. I found out that Hydra found him shortly after his fall from the train. Because of the experiments he survived the fall but they started to wipe him.

After the Triskelion was destroyed, Bucky and I fought against each other until I was down and fell into the river. But he pulled me out and disappeared shortly after. Since that day Sam and I look for him.”

A few tears rolled down her cheeks “You should have told me. I could have helped you”

“You were just starting to get comfortable with this new world. I didn’t want to…burden you with this…story” his gaze turned to the ground and closed his eyes in shame.

When he looked up again, [Y/N] was gone.

[Y/N] put some fresh clothes in her bag and the rest of the things she needed for the long trip. Together with Friday, she made out a few locations where Bucky could be and now it was up to her to find him. She put on her jacket and laced up her shoes before [Y/N] went to the door.

For the last time, she took a glance at her bedroom before [Y/N] left without a goodbye.

Standing at the gate right before boarding that would bring her to her first destination, [Y/N] looked down at the picture she kept of Bucky.

He always said that he would find a way to get back to her and now it was her mission to find him and get him back.

Part 4

I’m sorry that it took me so long to post a new chapter of my series but I was very busy and I couldn’t write anything down….
I hope you still liked this crappy chapter - next time we will meet Bucky again ;)

And While We Live (Chapter 4)

Letters

I - 3 days after arriving

Claire was lying in bed. Not one ounce of motivation to leave it, everyday just staying in an oblivious cocoon for ten minutes more, then twenty minutes more. She felt herself drowning in the pounding unforgiving sounds of her rocky heartbeat. It wasn’t like her, but her inner anchor to the world was disappearing. She opened the letter Gillian had given her the night before and reread it.

My darling niece,

I know. I am deeply sorry for this voyage you endured. There is no easy way to explain this to you, my darling, but know that what you just experienced is unique to each individual, but has been part of our family for many generations. For your own safety I can’t tell you anything more, but I promise I will, in due time.

My darling bee, you have the exquisite ability to survive. Survive by living. Like you dear papa, my brother whom I miss so much. Like your beautiful, strong mama. I can assure you with all certainty, with all the facts and notes and observations that you, my little curly wonder, will thrive. Please, don’t be afraid, trust my friends Raymond and Gillian, and LIVE.

All my love,

Uncle Lamb

II - 10 days after arriving

Dearest bee,

I wish I could give you this in person. By now Raymond already explained what exactly happened and Geillis has filled you in on the mechanisms of the process. I must confide in you I took many of these trips in my youth. Too many, in fact, and that’s why I have to wait a little while longer to be sure I can do it again…  For the most important reason of all: being able to see you again.

For practical reasons, Claire Elizabeth Beauchamp, born in 1918, died in service of her country. Pardon my bluntness, but please realize that this was no accident. Your destiny has been written for a long time. I know you’re hurting for Franklin. I can assure you he is hurting for you as well, this is not his fault. I promise you I will look after him for as long as I can and for as long as he needs me to. You may be asking: who are you to talk to you about matters of the heart? It will always hurt a little bit my darling… You were meant to be on this journey, as Frank was meant to be in your life for as long as he did. Both your war experiences had different challenges and this is one of them.  Trust that feeling you always had in the pit of your stomach, you think I forgot you letters to me during the war? Your concerns?

You will have more answers, but promise me you will live your life first before looking for them.

With love,

Uncle Lamb

Claire folded the yellow paper and saved it inside the envelope. She would place it inside a shoe box, next to the clothes she was wearing when she arrived. And then, she would wipe her tears and head to the library. I am sorry Uncle Lamb, but I have to know

III - 40 days after arriving

She found out Frank had gone off to America one year after her disappearance. She found a few books under his name, Scottish history of course, but didn’t dare look for more that afternoon. Would she ever know more? Had he let her go? Was he still alive?

Claire wasn’t sure she wanted to look for him, she only wanted a way to go back to her life. But she knew Uncle Lamb wouldn’t ask for her promise if he didn’t mean it. Truth is… She missed her uncle most of all. In the Beauchamp practical manner of thinking, Claire assumed that time moved in parallel on both sides of the stones. It bothered her that Frank was still looking for her and that she had no way of letting him know she was alright. If she were honest with herself, that was what she was worried about, more so than going back to her impending marriage. These days she was starting to take out her feelings from the drawers she was used to put them in. Compartmentalize was a mechanism of survival, but now that the dust was settling and she felt more calmer (Gillian was proving to be a good friend aside from Uncle Lamb’s requests, as was the mysterious Raymond), she was able to think about what she had left behind.

She felt relief in not having to please someone. In not feeling forced to arrange excuses for her desires, in not justifying her likes and dislikes, in not dealing with suspicious vibrations. Claire and Frank had a wall between them that she had hoped to tear down… But that was before.

My darling niece,

If you are not furious at the simple thought of your old uncle, know that I don’t have all the answers. I barely have any at all because my darling girl, what is meant to be is stronger than the will of men. I simply wish to make it easier for you, to cushion the anxiety and worry. I know you, your incredible ability to adapt to any circumstance. This time it won’t be different… The people you left might suffer, but the wisdom of the universe will help them too. Please remember I just wished to make things easier for you…

As I write these, you are on your way to Scotland. And I know it’s just the beginning.

Yours,

Uncle Lambert

PS: Darling bee, you need someone who believes (in) you without wanting to prove anything.

19 Reasons the New Spider-Man Movie Will Be Unlike Anything You've Seen Before

Like many other superhero movie fans out there, I suffer from a serious, life-altering condition known as Spider-Man Fatigue (SMF). I’m a fan of the early-2000s franchise starring Tobey Maguire, and I willingly sat through Andrew Garfield’s take on Peter Parker in 2012 and 2014. But when I heard Marvel and Sony had combined forces to tell a new version of the young web-slinger’s story for a third time, I audibly groaned. Another one? Seriously? Then, I saw Captain America: Civil War. This Spider-Man, played by 20-year-old British rising star Tom Holland, is only in the movie briefly but seems immediately lighter and funnier; he meshes perfectly with Tony Stark and the rest of the gang. Could it be? Could Marvel have finally found a way to stop my skeptical eyes from rolling at each mention of a new installment to his story?

To figure out, once and for all, whether I’d be able to enjoy a sixth Spider-Man movie, I flew down to Marvel’s Pinewood Studios in Atlanta, where the team behind Spider-Man: Homecoming filled me and a group of other journalists in on what’s in store for Peter Parker this time around. We arrived on production day 46 of 74 and were treated to tours of a few sets - including a massive portion of the Washington Monument that Peter climbs and a full-size (but still partial) replica of the Staten Island Ferry designed to split in two for a fight scene - and an enlightening conversation with Eric Carroll. The coproducer and director of development for Marvel explained to us the basic story of the film and what Homecoming is trying to achieve with this iteration; chiefly, they want it to feel fresh and new while still going back to basics in terms of Peter’s story.

Later on that day we got a better idea of just how basic Carroll meant, when we watched Michael Keaton and Holland film a scene in an old, empty warehouse, where Peter Parker confronts the Vulture dressed in a very, very basic version of his suit (which you can see above). After chatting with Keaton, Holland, Carroll, director Jon Watts, and more members of the production team who’ve helped bring this movie to life, I can confirm that any fellow sufferer of SMF needs not fear: Spider-Man: Homecoming is going to leave us all with our jaws on the floor.

Everything You Need to Know About Spider-Man: Homecoming

  1. This will be the youngest Peter Parker yet. At just 15 years old, Marvel has given us a glimpse at Peter in all of his awkward, nerdy, angsty glory. As we saw in Civil War, he’s not only figuring out the limits of his powers, but also learning how to balance his life as a student and friend, as well as a superhero. “[It’s] the whole aspect of keeping him grounded and making sure the audience sees a kid as a superhero,” Holland explained. “Because we’ve seen the sort of Norse god, we’ve seen the billionaire, we’ve seen the soldier, now we get to see the kid. And one of the most important themes of the movie is, what would a 15-year-old boy do with superpowers? So, sort of opening act to the movie, you see Peter really trying to discover who he is, what he can do, which is something I feel like we haven’t really explored massively in the previous movies - is seeing Peter make mistakes and try and rectify them and try and learn exactly what he can do.”

  1. They’re staying true to his Queens, NY, roots. If you hear “Spider-Man” and immediately conjure images of him slinging his way around Manhattan’s tallest skyscrapers, think again. “If you think of New York, you always think of Manhattan, so it’s a very conscious tonal choice to say he is not in Manhattan,” production designer Oliver Scholl told us. “Manhattan is always across the river, it’s where he aspires to be. That’s where the Avengers’ tower is - across the river looming in the sunset. But he’s not there yet.”
  2. So, no skyscrapers for Peter? This Spider-Man is still unsure of his powers and therefore isn’t keen on jumping off 40-story buildings. “Spider-Man starting out - he’s not irrationally afraid of heights, but he has the fear of heights that all well-balanced people do,” Carroll said. “So he’s going to work up to becoming the Spider-Man we know he will someday. But we will not see him swing down Fifth Avenue in this movie. We will not see him 40 stories off the ground acting like that is not the most terrifying thing he will do that day.” Luckily he’ll be much more at home in the low-rises in Queens.
  3. Aunt May is getting a face lift. Following in the footsteps of Rosemary Harris and Sally Field, Marisa Tomei is the next Aunt May. She won’t be wearing a white wig or sitting for hours in the makeup chair to make her look older, though; this Aunt May is “more of a big sister” figure to Peter, who encourages him to go out and be social.
  4. Uncle Ben will be basically nonexistent. Although Holland kept information about Uncle Ben’s role in this Peter’s story under wraps, Carroll confirmed that the character will be alluded to at best. Here’s hoping we never have to see Uncle Ben bleed out on a sidewalk somewhere ever again, right?
  5. The Avengers are responsible for creating the Vulture. Remember all of that talk about how superheroes are never held accountable for all of the destruction their giant battles cause? Well, Keaton’s Adrian Toomes (aka the Vulture) is a direct side effect of The Battle of New York. Toomes owns a salvage company, which is hired to clean up the Avengers’ damage around Stark Tower. He’s elated over scoring such a big contract, only to be told another company - called “Damage Control” - is handling the job instead. As a blue-collar family man just trying to get by, he’s furious. This is what eventually sends him on a collision course with Peter.

  1. The Vulture salvages his gear from The Battle of New York. Although Toomes and his men are kicked off the project pretty soon, it’s still enough time for them to steal some alien tech they find amid the detritus. This is how Toomes is able to build wings for himself, and how some of his men - who later become Marvel villains the Tinkerer and the Shocker - get their own powerful tools.
  2. The Vulture is a totally new kind of Marvel villain. Loki and Ultron might have been hell-bent on taking over the world, but the Vulture has smaller goals in mind. “He’s somewhat of a victim,” Keaton said Toomes’s motivations. “He takes things in to feel like a victim. And some of it is justified actually, because he believes that there is an upper echelon of society and people who are getting away with a lot and have everything, and there was a whole lot of folks who are working hard and don’t have much. Does that sound familiar to anybody, given the political climate?” In the same warehouse where we watched Keaton and Holland film, we got to take a stroll through Toomes’s workshop, which is covered in crayon drawings from his children.
  3. Holland’s performance is inspired by both of the previous Spider-Mans. Holland is definitely doing something new with his character, but he wasn’t afraid to pick and choose elements from Maguire and Garfield. “It’s difficult to not take any influence from Toby and Andrew because they both had such great versions of the character,” he said. “I think from Toby, I’m taking the kind of less cool side of things, whereas Andrew is very cool and very sort of contained. I thought his Spider-Man was fantastic. When he was in that suit, I thought he really came to life, and so those are the two things I’m taking from both people. But for me, it’s just making sure I feel like a kid on set and really, really be the kid that everyone wants to be, you know? To just have fun with it, and see a superhero really enjoy having his powers.”
  1. A classic ‘80s comedy inspired a key fight scene. Bueller? Bueller? That’s right, there will be a sequence of Peter chasing bad guys through a neighborhood worthy of Ferris Bueller. Hopefully he’ll use his web to get around instead of stealing his best friend’s father’s Ferrari.
  2. The cast had to watch a John Hughes movie marathon to prepare. Spider-Man: Homecoming is first and foremost a coming-of-age tale, so Watts turned to the master of such stories: John Hughes. “He gave us a lot of movies to watch,” Holland said. “God there’s so many movies, and we basically just all sat down in my house in Atlanta, all the cast, and we just watched them all in one day and just had like a Dominos day. It was amazing … Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Pretty in Pink, there were loads of them.”
  3. Which is good, since the characters will be in high school for a while. High school will be “a big aspect” of these films, according to Carroll, which Watts echoed. “In the (Sam) Raimi one, he’s only in high school for like 10 minutes,” Watts said. “But I wanted to make a high school movie, so the opportunity to do it with Spider-Man was pretty exciting.” Homecoming takes place in Peter’s sophomore year, which means a trilogy might end with Peter graduating. Fingers crossed Spider-Man: Prom is next.
  4. Holland went undercover at a high school in the Bronx to get the full experience. “I sent him to the Bronx High School of Science, because that’s the kind of school that Peter Parker would go to,” Watts revealed. “He was so blown away by how hard the kids worked, how smart everyone was, and the thing he remarked on was just everyone was exhausted, and that’s what I remember from high school.” Holland went all-in on the experience, too, donning a fake name and accent to blend in. “I am in no way a science student, and some of the teachers would call me up in front of the class and try and get me to do equations and stuff. It was so embarrassing,” he recalled. “But it was actually really, really informative, because schools in London are so different. I would go to school every day in a suit and tie, it was just boys, and to be in a school where you can be free and let loose and be with girls was so different.” Holland swears that no one figured out his secret identity, but we have a feeling he’s going to have a harder time being anonymous once Homecoming premieres.
  1. Tony Stark is an important part of Peter’s growth. “Their relationship is so great in Civil War that you kind of feel you have to keep exploring that,” Watts said of his choice to make Tony a big part of Peter’s story. Holland says Tony is “more like a big brother than he is a father figure” to Peter because of their banter. “He picks on him,” he explained. “And he kind of is down on him quite a lot, but then there is that level of him caring about him like his own. And Robert [Downey Jr.] has really brought something lovely to the character. A very different side to Stark than we’ve ever seen before.”
  2. Tony is a little too overprotective of Peter, according to Peter. After seeing how clumsily Peter handled certain aspects of his team-up with Tony in Berlin, “he doesn’t feel that [Peter is] ready yet to be an Avenger,” Holland said. “I think he might have thought that what happened in Germany was too much for Spider-Man at that time, so he is very persuasive and he’s constantly trying to get Peter to stay in Queens, and save cats out of trees, and stop the burglar, and blah, blah, blah, and nothing of this scale.”
  3. Say goodbye to Harry Osborn. In an effort to make Homecoming feel fresh, Carroll said that “our goal was not to see what’s already been seen.” This means Peter’s BFF-turned nemesis will be missing, along with Oscorp and the Daily Bugle. Fortunately Peter finds a friend and confidant in classmate Ned Leeds (Jacob Batalon), who will no doubt ground the blossoming superhero.
  4. Say hello to a sick new suit. According to Carroll, Peter’s suit (courtesy of Tony) will include features like “a heater, lights, surveillance data, airbags, taser-webs, and mutliweb shooters.” Not too shabby for a 15-year-old from Queens, right?
  5. Holland does not share Peter Parker’s reflexes. There’s a scene in Homecoming that sees Peter handling liquid webbing, but it didn’t take long for Holland to be barred from playing with it. “As soon as they gave it to me I dropped it and it smashed everywhere. It’s literally day one,” he laughed. “It was this clear liquid and then I poured this yellow liquid into it, then mixed it, and it would go fluorescent white. I was like 'Oh this is the coolest thing ever’ and just smashed it everywhere. So, they immediately took it off me and I wasn’t allowed to play with it.”
  6. Holland confirms that Zendaya is the perfect actress for the job. When news first broke that Zendaya might be playing iconic Spidey love interest Mary Jane Watson (although she’s been referred to as “Michelle” so far), some despicable corners of the internet decided to throw a tantrum over the fact she isn’t white. Fortunately Holland can attest that of anyone tasked with dealing with these particular haters, Zendaya probably does it best. “Z is so powerful and so strong-willed that it’s not going to shake her at all,” he said. “She has such a large following on Instagram, and the majority of those people all love her. I feel like our generation is moving past this whole [idea] that you can’t cast someone who’s not of the right race for a character, and I really think we’re breaking through and changing that, and Z is perfect for it.” We have to agree.

See Spider-Man: Homecoming when it hits theaters on July 6!

How The French View Americans: Negative Stereotypes Explained

We all have preconceived notions of certain countries and cultures. We might even understand that these are gross generalizations but that doesn’t keep us from believing them. The French have quite a few preconceived ideas on what it means to be American. I’m going to explore where these stereotypes might come from.

*Disclaimer: This is all (slightly researched) speculation. *

1. Americans are stupid

Americans have the unfortunate stereotype of being not so bright. Many Europeans would agree. Is there some truth to this? Well according to OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development), the U.S ranks 26th worldwide in scholastic test scores, below other world powers such as France, Germany, and China. But this is only proof if you believe that test scores accurately define intelligence. Also, the typical French person probably doesn’t know this statistic…so why do they think we’re “idiots”?

Probably because we are generally ignorant of the world around us. Who’s the Prime Minister of the UK? What political scandal is currently going on in Brazil? What is ISIS? The reality is many Europeans could answer these questions and many Americans could not. The other day I watched this American girl try to order at a french bakery. This first thing she said was “Hola” (*face palm*) and then she very loudly asked for a sandwhich in english, as if yelling would help the cashier understand her better. This is the American traveler in a nutshell - we go overseas without any regard for common practices, norms, or courtesies. This lack of cultural curiosity is what probably makes us seem uninformed, silly, and quite frankly, stupid.

2. Americans are superficial

Outsiders believe that all we care about is our looks, status, and wealth. Materialistic is our name and consumerism is our game. But like, we can’t like, be bothered with things like “inner beauty”. I mean, duh, we have reps to protect!

It’s not hard to understand why one would come to this conclusion of us. Watch American TV for 30 minutes and you will see how we eat up ideas of popularity and wealth. I mean we are the same country that has made famous-for-nothing Kardashians a household name. We’re also the same country that lets Channing Tatum “act” and lets Taylor Swift whine on every stage. I must admit (ashamedly) that I’ve thought to myself, “Wow, french actors and singers are not attractive”. But their celebrities are actually famous for being talented. Crazy concept, right?

3. Americans are conservative

One day when I was babysitting, I took the kids to the park. On the side of a building was a LARGE ad for a burlesque show with a topless woman gracing center stage. I remember feeling appalled. This is a park where children come to play! I looked around and none of the moms or their kids paid it any attention, almost as if this was normal. Am I a prude? No, I’m just American.

When it comes to nudity, cursing, or anything else considered taboo, we tend to censure it. These things are typically reserved for private spaces among adults. But in France, whether its in the media or in real life, they are much less likely to censor themselves.

Theory time: Part of this may be because we are a much more religious country than France. Although we express freedom of religion within our Constitution, we cannot deny that our country was founded on Christian principles and those principles manifest themselves within our political, social, and cultural identity. Around 88% of American citizens are affiliated with a religion compared to almost 55% of French citizens. Why are LGBT and female reproductive rights hot button issues? Why is the drinking age still 21 years old? Because of persisting conservative sentiments. Perhaps we hold more modest values because of our country’s subconscious (or maybe not so subconscious) ties to religion.

4. America is dangerous and racist

To many outsiders, most of our major cities are synonymous with danger. New York. Miami. Chicago. I’ve been asked several times by wide-eyed Frenchies if I’ve ever visited these cities and if I’ve ever felt unsafe. What puzzles them most is why, oh why, can’t America solve its gun issue? Trust me, we’re asking ourselves the same thing. Mass shootings have become unnervingly commonplace and we are just as exhausted.

As for the racism thing, French people have televisions. They see our public discourse on police brutality, the physical aggression at Trump rallies and that same presidential candidate’s stance on Mexican immigrants. They know well that our country was built on the backs of slaves and immigrants and has a 400 year history of racial oppression and discrimination. But don’t be fooled, France is not at all a racial utopia. They’ve had their fare share of discriminatory laws over the years. However, due to our track record, its the U.S that usually wins the prize of most racist world power.

5. Americans are fat

This is without doubt the number one stereotype about Americans and unfortunately there’s a lot of merit to it. We are one of the unhealthiest countries in the world. In 2015, 74 million Americans, almost 2/3 of the country, were considered overweight or obese. Researchers predict that these numbers will only increase and by 2020, 75% of the nation will be overweight. Compared to the 40% of overweight French citizens, these numbers are quite egregious.

But what’s ironic is that we are by far more obsessed with exercise and healthy eating. We have a strong “work out culture” in the states and for most Americans the question is not whether you’re dieting but which diet you’re on. As a whole, French people don’t actively work out. In fact in the 9 months I’ve been here, I have seen one gym. ONE. And it was extremely empty. They don’t have to work at being healthy because they just naturally are. It’s not in their culture to eat large fast food portions or eat out for that matter. Where as in the US, we love to dine outside the home. Not only is it a great way to connect with friends but its convenient. And from drive-thrus to 24/7 restaurants, you cant deny our love affair with conveniency.

6. Americans are self-involved workaholics

“You can be anything you put your mind to” “Reach for the stars” “You could be the next president of the United States!”

From an early age we are told that everyone is special. That hard work is the key to success and to dream as big as possible. I asked a couple of my students what they wanted to be when they grew up and none of them had an answer. From an American perspective this is very strange. Every American child knows exactly what they want to be by the age of 3. Even if the answer is a Princess, we raise children to have a very clear and confident vision of who they are and where they are going in life.

Our society is characterized by individualism. What that means is that we emphasis personal achievements, we value independence, and much of what we do in life is self-enhancing. Many countries fall into this category and you can argue that there’s nothing wrong with it. But the inevitable result of individualism is that we lose sight in the importance of people around us. We are less family-oriented and instead place more value on our personal success, which typically translates to how we perform in our careers.

Everyone is chasing the “American Dream”, hoping to make something of themselves. But instead of enjoying life, we’re too busy working hard for the money. We work 30% more than Europeans, have significantly less paid vacation time, and we’re one of the only countries that doesn’t guarantee parental leave for new mothers and fathers. We don’t value leisure time for ourselves or with our family. Maybe we are not personally “self-involved workaholics”, but the way our society is set up its almost impossible not to be.

Feeling bitter? Well let’s glance at some positive stereotypes.

7. Americans are very self-confident

8. Americans are charitable

9. Americans are super friendly

10. Americans are good looking

See, it’s not all bad.

Cupcakes && Secrets

Pairing: Steve Rogers x Reader

 Warnings: Light swearing

“You’ve never had a Red Velvet Cupcake, America!?” Shock was registering on the many faces around the kitchen island.

“I was in Tony’s words a ‘Capsicle’ for 70 years” There was a slight chuckle in his voice. “I haven’t caught up on everything I’ve missed out on.”

“Did they have cupcakes in stone age grandpa?” Tony smirked.

Everyone chuckles and Steve shakes his head “Oh it never gets old Stark.” Things were never dull in The Tower, you hadn’t been here long eight months and you could say you were finally feeling like you were home. The team has been welcoming and helpful between training and getting to know you, you felt you were finally becoming a part of their family. As everyone drifted away and wandered into the living room you got a bright idea. Walking around the island and picking up your bag from a chair you looked at Steve who was watching you

“Come on Cap.” You give him a grin. He smirks at you

“Where am I going?”

“With me, we’re gonna catch you up on another current trend.” You grab his hand and pull him towards the elevator. Steve was the closest you had to a real best friend, even though he acted like a father when you dropped the F Bomb during missions, he mocks you when he can hear you singing in the shower. Which you will never live down for Stark being a Billionaire why can’t he build thicker walls in The Tower. He was always around when you needed a laugh, or to take a good punch at something.  As you step off the elevator and cross the marble floor you see the women react to Steve’s presence in the room, you can clearly see them staring and checking him out. He was a large and gorgeous specimen of science creation. As we hit the glass doors you had to stifle a giggle. Steve looks down at you as he opens the door for you, ever the gentleman as always.

“Something funny (Y/N)” He raises an eyebrow as you stroll past him and onto the sidewalk in the direction of your destination.

“Oh no America just thinking.” You say brushing your (Y/H/C) hair out of your face as the wind blows it around as you watch your feet hit the sidewalk you couldn’t help the smile you could feel creeping into your cheeks.

“Not going to let me in on that thought?” He’s in stride with you, his bicep brushing against your shoulder as you both make your way on the crowded New York streets.

“You really are from the stone age aren’t you Cap?” You look up at him and grin.

“Steve (Y/N), you never use my name. I’m not from the Stone age, the 40’s weren’t the dark ages.”  He says as he pulls you lightly by the upper arm out of the way of a biker cutting the path.

“I was joking Steve…” You paused you had never called him by his first name if rolled off your tongue in a strange way like you wanted to say it more. You shake your head of the thought. “You don’t see what you are now, post serum. The way people react to you when you walk into a room. Specially women.” You smile, and point for Steve to head into the local market.

“Women? I guess I’m still not use to being…” He looks down and looks at you. “This Steve. I was smaller than you, I’m use to going unnoticed unless in my suit.” He pulls the door open for you and waits for you to walk in. “A market? I hate to break it to you (Y/N), we had these in the 40’s” he says in a lower voice as to not draw attention to our, surely weird to other people, conversation. You roll your eyes and hand him a brightly colored blue basket.

“Smart ass, we’re here for supplies.”

“Language (Y/N)” he sighs and follows behind you. “Supplies? Does this have to do with those things you were talking about in The Tower?” as he follows you down the baking aisle. You are rolling your eyes knowing full well he can’t see you do it, should have seen the ‘Language’ coming as the words slipped out of your mouth.

“Yes and those things are called heaven in a paper cup.” You turn to add a few things into the basket, flour, powder sugar, you were checking off things from a mental list in your head. “Next aisle.” And Steve follows in response.

“(Y/N) let me asking you something.” He spoke quietly. You don’t say anything just look up at him as you stand in front of the dairy cooler. He has the most amazing blue eyes, and you found yourself seeing what you were sure other women saw in him and stopped to admire. “You never talk about it.” He says more to the butter and eggs than you. “Fury never released your file, Stark says you’re not in the database. I was just curious why you don’t talk about where you come from. About what you can do.” He’s not really talking to you as he is the items in your basket.

That numb feeling waved over you, the same question you knew everyone in The Tower had been whispering about for months. Only Tony bold enough to ask it out loud, and telling him you would tell if he could beat you in a training match without his suit, after making him tap out nobody bother to ask again. Knowing they all still wondered about the small mutation you had. You were looking up at Captain America, it still felt like a dream some days being a part of this life, having a science experiment as your closest friend. “I need milk.” It was the only thing that you could make come out of your mouth. Steve smirked nodding.

“Is that all? Do we have everything?” You nodded and started off for the milk. You walk up to the self-check outs and Steve has a look of confusion of his face.

“Steve? You okay” you say with a small chuckle.

“This, this is new to me.” He looks at the machine like he’s never seen an alien race try to take over NYC he watches you with serious concentration as you scanned your items and laid them onto the belt.

“Steve have you not been to a grocery store since,” you drop your voice “unfreezing?” you look at him with some confusion yourself.

“Well,” his forehead crinkles as he watches you scan the last few items. “normally F.R.I.D.A.Y makes sure I have everything I need I mean I haven’t had much reason till now.” He looks at you and gives a smile. “guess this is a new trend I’m learning today too?” You smile at him as you slip money into the slot and wait for your change.

“Do you ever leave The Tower aside from missions?” your put your change into your bag as Steve picks up the bags and ushers you out into the wind once again.

“I leave. Just to normal places.” He says as you make your way back towards home.

“I think we should start calling you The Hunchback of the Tower.” You giggle and look at Steve.

“The Hunchback of the Tower?” he asks looking at you with un-surety.

“Steve please, please tell me you have seen the Disney movie The Hunchback of Norte dome” You could feel your eyes getting wide as you stared at him in shock.

“I think it’s on the list.” He smirks and continues walking.

“Seriously????? Wow you’re so out of date.” You shake your head and give a small laugh.

“So I hear.” You both get quiet and you know he’s thinking about the question he asked in the store the one you dropped and tried to leave there in the dairy aisle. You know Steve wouldn’t judge you, but you also weren’t sure you wouldn’t hurt him if you used it. Banner says you’re getting better, he was the only one that knew and that was an accident. After he understood why you hadn’t told the team, he offered to help you learn to control it, to run some test to give you a better understanding. Funny running tests is how you got into this situation in the first place, but you trusted Banner as he knew what it was like to be an experiment gone wrong.

“(Y/N) I’m sorry.” Steve said as you were in the elevator alone, he was looking at the doors.

“What? Why?” You looked slightly panicked as you’re pulled from your thoughts.

“I shouldn’t have asked. It’s not our business. At first we didn’t trust it or you, all of us have pasts we just don’t understand why you won’t share yours. Nat says you’ll share when you are ready.” He’s helping you pull your baking items out of the bags.

“Steve?” You ask.

“(Y/N).” he looks at you, when he realizes what you’re doing and takes three quick strides to you taking the big mixing bowl from you, and setting them of the counter.

“Thanks.” you grin at him as he turns back to you, it was funny looking down at him from your place on the counter tops where you had crawled to grab the bowls. He places his giant hands out in the case you become ungraceful and take a fall. “Catch me?” You didn’t leave him a chance to respond as you took a hop off the counter knowing full well he would catch you in a heartbeat. Before you knew it he was pulling you in close as you sank into his arms, damn he was huge, well built. Soft for a built soldier, it wasn’t like being caught by a statue. He set you on your feet in front of the island with a chuckle.

“Always the dare devil (Y/N).” His smiled cut off any chance him trying to sound stern. You grin up at him,

“Wanna help?” you pull out measuring cups and beaters.

“You wouldn’t mind showing me how to make ‘Heaven in a paper cup’” he asks as he twirls the cupcake cups across the counter.

“Only if you wear a pretty apron with me?” you slap a hand over your mouth to hide the smile you know is there. Steve eyes you, and looks at the aprons hanging on the way by the cupboards. He saunters over to the wall and picks up a red apron that is probably the least girly hanging there.

“These better be worth this.” He says as he ties the apron around his waist. Oh this was gonna be so fun, America in an apron and red velvet cupcakes things just couldn’t get better. Steve was horrible at baking rescues thousands of civilians doesn’t understand measuring flour. He scratched his forehead at some point and has flour smeared across his flawless skin.

You kept thinking about him wanting to know about your secret. The mutation. You knew he would be the one person who wouldn’t think you were a freak, though you were sure none of the team would think that. Your history with people finding out was never a good thing, it never went over well. Letting Steve try the frosting for the cupcakes and you enjoyed watching his reaction, this is the one thing you were good at baking. It was your happy place. No worries. No mutation. No judging. Just tasty treats you’d work off the next day.

“Steve…” You looked down at the bowl and played with the spoon.

“Y/N)?” He was still licking his fingers to get the frosting off. You giggled, boys were so typical.

“I wanna tell you something.” You looked up at him seeing the flour and the frosting made you giggle again.

“Sure, you can tell me anything.” He wipes his hand on the apron, it does no good. You decide to give it a try, slow, easy… focus. There was a wet paper towel next to the sink from when you had to remove the red food coloring from Steve’s face. You give it a small thought, thought about it being in your hand. As it twitched you saw Steve in the corner of your vision still struggling with the frosting in between his fingers. You smirked and focused on the paper towel, suddenly it was gone. You could feel the cold wet paper towel in your hand before you looked down to see it. You looked up at Steve who had noticed the paper towel suddenly appear.

“(Y/N), where did that come from?” He asks looking back at the sink to your hand. You stand up and reach up the paper towel to his forehead

“I moved it.” As you wipe the flour away from his skin. You moved to his hands.

“(Y/N) how? You didn’t get up and grab it though.” You can feel his eyes on you, but you focus on wiping the frosting off his hands, not meeting his gaze. “Are you like Wanda?” He finally asks as you sit back down on the island.

“I’m not like Wanda.” You say as you spread frosting on the brightly colored cupcakes. What you would give to be like Wanda, she knows what she is, what she can do. To have control, at least more control than I do. “What I can do, I can’t explain.” You continue to frost cupcakes, as you go you lose yourself in the rhythm you feel at ease.

“(Y/N) ummm…” Steve sounds off beat. You look up to see cupcakes twirling around you about a foot off the counter top.

“Fuck. Sorry.” You focus to put the cupcakes back down without smashing them. As they slowly lower back to the counter you can feel Steve shift and it makes your muscles tense up, and one cupcake flips and smashes into the counter top.

“Sorry, I didn’t mean to,” Steve is closer to you.

“It’s okay. Not the worst thing I’ve done.” You say as you brush cupcake crumbs off your shirt. Looking at Steve you can see a burning question he is trying to figure out how to ask. “You wanna know how.” You say crossing your legs and turning towards him.

“Not if you don’t want to talk about it.” He says as he tries to not be shocked you knew what he was thinking.

“I’m like you, science experiment.” You say as you pick up a cupcake and inspect it.

“You choose to be like this?”

“No, it’s a mutation. I choose to have some testing done and try an experimental drug. Than one day…” you wave your hand in a small jester and the coffee pot was suddenly in front of Steve.

“(Y/N) why didn’t you tell anyone I mean Banner, Wanda, Pietro, all the things we’ve seen.” He looked around his forehead creasing.

“I’ve never been accepted for what I can do, I’ve hurt people with what I can do, and not by choice.” You frown and you think back. Behind the both of you hear someone clear their throat. You turn fear creeping in. When you lay eyes on the dark figure dressed in his typical black from head to toe.

“Fury.” Your mouth goes dry. Damn.

“Well it looks like Rogers is all up to date (Y/L/N) good.” He has made his way to the island and picks up a cupcake. “You even made cupcakes. Red Velvet, my favorite.” He tills the cupcake in your direction and winks at you. You and Steve exchange a glance. Fury turns to walk away, when he suddenly says “Time to fill the rest of the team in, Meeting Room in 5. You’re going on a mission.”

“oh crap.” You drop your head to your hands and shake your head. This is not how you planned to expose your secret, maybe you could bribe them with cupcakes. You gather the plate of cupcakes and turn to Steve “Think these are good enough to keep them from hating me?” Steve laughs and grabs the other plate,

“I doubt they’ll hate you. Just tell them while their mouths are full.” At least with Steve understanding this won’t be so hard facing everyone else.

Avengers Preference: Your First Date

A/N: I really like preferences. This is my first one with Loki, so enjoy :)

Request: Preferences, first date?? Include Bucky and Loki as well please

Warnings: none!

Loki: On your first date, the god of mischief picked you up, surprisingly on time. He took you out to dinner and was a perfect gentleman, until the waiter got a little too flirty. “Loki! What was that? Where did he go??” “If he is going to act like an animal and flirt with MY princess, I will lock him in a cage.”

Thor: You and Thor went on a coffee date. He met you at your favorite coffee shop, because he adored the “strange mortal drink”. He ended up spending almost fifty dollars on coffee because he wanted to try every drink, and that much caffeine took its toll on even his godlike body. You spent the rest of the night at the Avengers Tower, laughing as the blond god ran around like a child, to the dismay of the others.

Wanda/Scarlet Witch: For your first date with Wanda, you went and watched a foreign film that just so happened to be in Romanian. She spent the first half of the movie translating for you, her lips right next to your ear, but that ended quickly when your desire got the best of you. On the bright side, you could now scratch “getting yelled at by an old hipster woman for making out in a movie theater” off your bucket list. On the downside, Tony now demanded a hand check whenever you and Wanda were watching Netflix on the couch.

Pietro/Quicksilver: Pietro took you to a local indie rock show on your first date. You weren’t expecting him to look as…well, hot as he did in skinny jeans and a flannel. When you opened the door, you took a moment to check him out, fully appreciating how lucky you were. As you eyes flicked back up to his, the smirk on his face told you that he knew what you had been doing. “What can I say? You look good, Speedy.” The night was a whirlwind of dancing and flirting, and when you woke up in his bed the next morning you knew you could do this forever.

Bucky/Winter Soldier: For your first date, Bucky just invited you to his house to watch a movie. He was still adjusting to the world, and he didn’t want you to be in public and have to contain him if something happened. The two of you settled in with a silent movie (“It was my favorite growing up,” he explained with a shy smile) and you spent the whole time feeding each other popcorn and cuddling and laughing at the antics on the screen. You fell asleep on his normal shoulder, and he smiled softly at you, brushing your hair out of your face and gently kissing your forehead.

Steve/Captain America: On your first date with the super soldier, he took you swing dancing. He had heard of your love for it, and he figured he would take you and show you how they really did it back in the day. You both dressed up for the occasion, in authentic 40’s style, and he had never looked more handsome. As he swung you around on the floor, you told him, “It’s a wonder you never had a string of girls back in your day.” He smiled softly at you, “I was just waiting for the right partner. I’ve waited 70 years, but I think I’ve finally found her.”

Natasha/Black Widow: You and Nat went to the shooting range for your first date. To the others, it seemed like an odd choice, but you both knew it was perfect. Once you got there and starting shooting (really, it was more flirting than shooting), some random douchebag decided to come and try to hit on Nat by offering to give her a “private lesson”. She laughed and looked at you, knowing you had a jealous streak a mile wide. You smiled at the guy as you wrapped an arm around her, saying “Yeah, that’s nice, but we’ve got a private lesson of our own scheduled later tonight.” Nat visibly grabbed your ass, and the guy got the hint and walked away, muttering about how “the hot ones are always gay”.

Clint/Hawkeye: Ever the one to try and impress you, Clint took you to play paintball with Wanda and Pietro (no powers allowed). “This way, I can finally shoot the quick little bastard” he told you with a wink, making you throw back your head in laughter. At the end of the game, you suspected that he had paid the twins off to make him look good and make you feel better, because there’s no way that he could hit Pietro that many times (powers aside, he still was quick) and you knew that you didn’t even fire as many times as Wanda claimed you hit her. It was cute, though, the way he looked at you to make sure you were watching when he made an incredible shot. So you rewarded him with a gross, dirty, paint-stained make out session in one of the bunkers while Wanda and Pietro shot at each other :)

Tony/Iron Man: To the surprise of exactly no one, you and Tony went clubbing on your first date. He complimented your dress with a wink and drove his nice car way too fast, which suited you just fine. You loved Tony in part because of his wild side, and because he made you feel like royalty. He helped you out of the car and straight past the line, and you spent the night dancing way too close. At one point you challenged him to a shots contest, and the two of you woke up beside the pool on the roof of his tower. Despite the fact that one of your shoes was missing and he had lost his jacket AND his shirt (Tony looked hella great in just a tight white undershirt, though), the two of you went out again the next night.

Bruce/Hulk: You planned your first date with Bruce, and you took him to the children’s interactive science museum in the city. When he realized where you were he laughed at you, saying “Really? Why here?” You smiled and told him that it was a lot of fun, and you knew he’d enjoy it. Boy, were you right. As you went through the museum, you could see his shy exterior melting away. When he stopped at yet another exhibit to give you an in-depth explanation as to how it worked in that nerdy, kid-in-a-candy-store way of his, you stretched up on impulse and kissed him. He blushed. “What was that for?” “You’re cute when you’re excited.”

Dad!Steve Rogers Would Include

Pre-conception

  • Okay so you had pretty much always known you wanted kids with Steve
  • But every time it was brought up it just didn’t feel like the right time so you said you wanted to wait
    • Of course he was completely okay with that bc our baby Steve is pretty much perfect
  • Until finally one night you came home from a mission and found Steve on his laptop, with tabs pulled up for browsing cribs, baby toys, and articles on baby-proofing and the best diets for pregnant and breastfeeding women
  • And he just looked at you like a lost little puppy before you pushed his computer aside, climbed into his lap and hugged him
  • That’s when you realized there would never be a good time to start a family
    • Especially since he was the leader of the Avengers and you were a top-ranking SHIELD agent
  • “Steve, I want a baby.”
  • “What made you decide, darlin’?”
  • “There’s never going to be a good time. I finally realized that. So we’ll just see what happens”
  • “Sugar, I can’t believe it! I love you so much”

Pregnancy

  • It takes a while for you actually get pregnant after you decide to start trying
  • But when you finally do, oh boy are you and Steve excited
  • He picks you up and spins you around and kisses you, places his hands on your abdomen and presses a kiss to where your tiny child is growing
  • You’re laying in bed that night, reading or watching something, and he climbs in next to you, placed a small kiss on your tummy and rests his head there, perfectly content
  • There’s a grin on his face for the next few days even in his sleep
  • When all the morning sickness starts, he’s always there to hold your hair back and rub your lower back as you kneel on the bathroom floor, and he makes sure to have saltines and ginger ale at the ready to calm your stomach
  • In fact, through all the crazy symptoms you experienced, Steve was an absolute angel
  • He gave into your every craving, took your mood swings in stride, massaged your back or feet when they were sore, and consoled you when you were feeling a bit insecure about yourself
  • He thought he was going to have a heart attack when you called to say you were in labor
    • He was called into HQ for a meeting while you stayed at home to rest
    • It usually took 15-20 minutes for him to get home but he was there in less than 5 after you called
    • He found you just chilling on the couch, perfectly calm on the outside but internally kind of freaking out, meanwhile his heart was pounding and his chest was heaving and his mind was running a thousand miles per hour
    • But just a small smile from you had him calming down, even though he knew he was supposed to be the one supporting you right now, but that’s the way it always was
  • Once you were settled in at the hospital, the entire team popped by to say hello
    • When they were all heading out again to go back to the tower and wait for the news, Bucky and Nat stayed behind to chat a while longer
    • Bucky was almost ready to cry when he hugged you and thanked you for being so good to Steve and allowing him to be in your child’s life
    • They decided to wait at the hospital so they could see the baby before the entire team came
  • It was honestly almost annoying how supportive and helpful Steve was throughout labor and delivery
  • Part of you really wondered why you wanted a child while you were dealing with the worst contractions and pushing
  • But then the doctor was saying “it’s a girl,” and the nurses were congratulating you both, and someone placed a tiny little girl in your arms and she was screaming but quieted down when you placed a hand on her back and held her close
  • And suddenly there were tears and you looked at Steve
  • He was smiling, tears in his eyes as well
  • He placed his hand over yours on your daughter’s back and leaned down to kiss your head
  • “I’m so, so proud of you, sweetheart. Your strength and beauty astound me. I can’t believe how happy I am right now, and it’s all because of you”
  • “I love you, Steve”
  • And of course the first time you hand her over to Steve he’s just completely in awe of her - her beauty, how small she looks in his arms, the very fact that she is his to take care of and raise and protect

Family

  • You have three children - Amelia Margaret, Jack James, and David Grant (each 2 or 3 years apart in age)
  • Steve had officially taken time off, coming in only when necessary, and you had gone part time so you could both take time to raise your family and get away from the craziness of missions
  • Steve loved taking care of the little ones and playing with them each day, as did you
  • Those kids know everything about WWII before they even step into a school - the stuff about the Commandos anyway!
  • There’s also a hint of 40s Brooklyn slang in their vocabulary
  • Steve is basically the ultimate soccer dad ok
  • He takes them along when he does workouts at the tower so they can hang with Uncle Bucky
  • You both love to take them to the park for the afternoon, complete with picnic and games
  • All the kids love to do anything interactive - baking, making up a new game, camping, going to the beach - but they also love to read
  • Both you and Steve had family traditions galore from growing up, and you manage to combine them beautifully as well as come up with new ones
    • Honestly you’ve got little celebrations planned all the time
    • Puppy day is in March, and you always take them to the animal shelter to love on some puppies. Amelia was 6, Jack was 4, and David had just turned 1 when they finally convinced you adopt a little golden retriever puppy
    • In late May is talk like Yoda day… best day of the year
    • At the end of July is lasagna day. You make a different kind of lasagna for every meal.
    • And you make a big deal out of half birthdays, as well as random milestones (like when your dog joined the family) and accomplishments
  • Steve is the one who cries at milestones (first day of school, first day of high school, last everything in their last year at home, helping to move them to the next stage of life on their own, etc.)
  • Both you and Steve make sure to have monthly dates with each child individually (sometimes with one parent, sometimes with both)
  • You always encourage them to do their best at everything, even if their best isn’t the best of everyone
  • You’ve always taught them to be self-sufficient, resilient, hard working, courageous, and all-around good individuals
    • Having Captain America as their father helped with that
  • Your family dynamic is like no other family
    • You suppose that comes from having a superhero and secret agent as parents
    • And the Avengers as aunts and uncles
  • All in all, you’re convinced you’ve got the best family in the world

Part One:

1943 was supposed to be your year. Turning twenty-one was supposed to be a momentous occasion. It marked the beginning of your future, and the eventual discovery of your soulmate, your other half. You had celebrated with your girlfriends that night, giddy about the possibilities that awaited you and giggling about your dream man.

They say that when you meet your soulmate, you just know. Some people described it as a rush of joy and exhilaration. You couldn’t wait to find out what it was like, what it felt like to look into the eyes of your true love and just know that this was the person you were meant to spend your life with.

But your twenty-first year went by with nary a feeling. The war was in full swing and Brooklyn was full of young men in uniforms, enjoying their last days at home before shipping out. Soldiers came into the diner where you worked all the time, but not one of them made your heart skip a beat.

It was okay, you told yourself. You would just give it time. But when another year passed, then two more, you began to worry.

The world had changed in many ways. America found itself a much needed hero in Captain America, only to lose him as he sacrificed his life for his country. Too many soldiers suffered a similar fate, never to return to their families. Men who had survived the horrors of the war were back home and trying to settle back into civilian life.

When five years turned into ten, you began to wonder if your soulmate had been one of the unlucky. It would explain his absence, as much as you hated to think of it. If he was truly gone, what was to become of you?

My Son Has Been Talking to The Walls

Author: hayong

My father went missing when I was 19 years old. It was after a week-long argument with my mother resulting in my father being there the night before and gone by the morning. I was home during the summer break of my freshman year when it happened, and I have never felt so betrayed my whole life. He was supposed to be there to see me graduate college, to be there when I was feeling down and I needed to talk to someone, but all of those hopes were sliced away when I found out he took the easy way out.

It really wasn’t any different not having him around though; throughout my childhood he would go back and forth from Korea to America. He would be with us for a couple of months before finding another “great opportunity” and having to fly back to Korea. So when he decided to run away from our home I decided the best thing to do is to forget about that man in general.

When I went back to college I focused on my studies, and after three years I graduated with a degree in Criminal Justice. I met a lovely lady my sophomore year and once we both graduated we decided to get married. After we got married we settled into a cozy 2 bedroom apartment and lived our lives happily for the next 2 years.
