just for potato salad

I’m like 100% positive that when Jack visited Georgia for the 4th of July both Mama Bittle and MooMaw fell in love with him, and not because of the charming accent or his slammin’ hockey bod but because of his ability to just inhale food.

Like after Jack finishes his first generous helpings of potato salad, macaroni salad, baked beans, and burger complete with all of the fixings, Mama Bittle and MooMaw plop themselves across from Jack in the shade. They both fuss over him, telling him that there’s plenty of food for seconds and thirds and to help himself.

So Jack stands up with his festive red, white, and blue paper plate and disappears for a few minutes before returning with an extra plate in his hand. Both women look over his plates with a wide smile; one plate was piled high with all of the different sides, and the other plate was holding three burgers and two hot dogs.

The two women chatted eagerly as they fanned themselves and sipped at their sweet tea, watching Jack with lovestruck eyes as he tucked into his plate quietly.

When dessert time comes around everyone serves themselves but Mama Bittle fixed up a plate especially for Jack with extra helpings of everything, which he absolutely demolishes in minutes.

After Bitty finished helping clean up dinner stuff he found Jack rocking on the front porch swing, his head tilted backwards, and his eyes closed.

“Mama get to you?” He asked with a small smile, sitting down next to him.

All he got in response was a soft, “Mhm”.

Can we just take a moment and appreciate Dean’s apparently intense love of potato salad in the WWE comics?

Here he is, grilling his perfect steaks (without a shirt, mind you, what are you doing) and he needs some potato salad to complete the meal:

Seth forgets the potato salad (a cardinal sin, even Roman knows this) and Dean reacts like a completely normal human being:

The steaks must be put on hold until this travesty is rectified. Seth’s offer to fix his mistake is rejected. Dean must complete this quest on his own.

Roman gets it:

Seth has to leave to take a mysterious phone call, so Roman is just going to chill and wait for that creamy potato salad, but Dean has other plans.

Did I mention they were grilling on top of a semi?

Cue intense driving to the grocery store:

Roman is pretty chill about this whole thing, proving he’s always got his boy’s back.

Unfortunately, we never get to see this legendary potato salad, but I imagine it complemented the perfect steaks perfectly.

WTF just happened

I work at a tea shop which is usually pretty quiet weekdays but can be busy round lunchtime.

On one such day we only had one old couple in who ordered jacket potatoes each, one being a plain potato with no salad or anything with it (just felt like adding that because I found it weird). I was in the kitchen that day but my colleague was on the counter and took their order. When she came upstairs she mentioned how strange they were and I thought ‘okayy… I gotta see this’ but unfortunately I never ended up going downstairs until some time later.

First of all my colleague said they complained how they’d gotten too much food which is crazy because for that price it’s a bargain, but things were about to get weirder……

I was editing products on the till when the couple started leaving, my colleague said the usual “thanks guys, have a nice day!” as the guy got to the door he stopped, turned round, and started walking back to the counter with a furious look on his face.
Angrily he asked
“what did you say?!”
My colleague looked shocked as did I then replied
“have a nice day?”
To which he said and the conversation continued
“No the other thing”
“Thanks guys?”
“I don’t if you’ve noticed but I’m with a WOMAN”
“I’m sorry it’s just a saying…”
“Not in my world it isn’t”
“I’m sorry….”

Then he turned round to leave but stopped at a table to which we hoped he’d just leave which luckily he did.
I told my colleague after we had laugh at how fucking weird he was to completely ignore him as she’d done nothing wrong. I wish I’d said something at the time to him but I just couldn’t believe it was actually happening. It was like I was reading something for the this blog…..
Luckily he hasn’t come back as of yet…..

Overflowing plant-filled lunch plates are the best ones🤗🍴🌿 and yes it’s totally okay to have more than one ‘carb’ on your plate, food is SO much more than just one of the nutrients it contains✌🏼️ here we have potato salad with a Dijon-chive dressing, homemade sourdough rye bread, greens, purple cabbage, carrot, tomato, cucumber + a big dollop of turmeric hummus (aka. the ultimate nourish plate)👅💦

What did you guys have to eat at your baby showers???

I’m putting together my menu, but I have no clue what to have. Obviously the fruit tray and chips, but like… I want regular food and a few snacks. A cake for dessert, but it’s going to be a good amount of people, so I think another dessert would be a good idea. Cookies? Rice crispy treats? I don’t want a candy bar, because there will also be a good amount of kids here too. The candy would be gone in minutes lol.

Lily tried to muster up some enthusiasm for the food in front of her, but she was fighting a losing battle. Just thinking about eating the potatoes or the salad made the bile rise in her throat.

She had woken up feeling terrible, so rather than follow her roommates down to breakfast, she’d decided to take advantage of her free periods in the morning to get some extra sleep. Initially, it seemed to work – Herbology went fine – but once she’d left the greenhouse, the nausea had begun to creep back in, and by the time she’d sat down in the Great Hall five minutes ago, she should have known that consuming anything but some water would be hopeless.

“Hey.” She looked up, and James slid into the seat next to her. “How are you? I didn’t see you at breakfast today.”

Lily groaned. “I don’t feel well,” she said, resting her head on her hands. “My stomach is killing me.”

i hate when im at a social thing and im like hey im a vegetarian, is there gonna be food for me or should i eat beforehand or bring something myself because thats not at all a problem and theyre like oh no dw we’re serving meat but theres definitely going to be enough options for you too, and then you go and theres just like two salads and potatoes with nothing

I still don’t have any of her stuff washed, and I don’t have a bag packed. Honestly this “third baby lull” is gonna be the death of me.

But I had a pondering that was kinda funny given that this is super bowl weekend.

Cory and I first hooked up on the early morning of Super Bowl Sunday. Ugh that day was like one of the worst ever I was so hung over and I made nasty ass potato salad and it was just awful. But that was the day that started it all.

This Sunday I’ll very 36 weeks 6 days.
Connor was born at 38 weeks 6 days.
Chandler was born at 39 weeks 6 days.

Cory says she’ll probably show at 40 weeks 6 days, and I agree. Given that my midwife won’t let us pass 41 weeks, and Hadleighs over-all temperament this whole pregnancy, I could see her sending me right into labor the day before our scheduled induction with that sort of, “I guess I can show up now, I mean we’re going to the hospital anyway,” attitude.

I do think it would be hilarious if she came on Sunday. If that’s the case I got less than 2 days to go into labor given my previous births. 😂 I’m hoping she stays put until at least Valentines day, but I got a feeling this girl is gonna leave me guessing.

I’ll never understand a system where buying fresh food (fruit and veg) costs more then buying a processed meal full of shit😒😒😒

I think I may have to stick to doing beginners Blogilates for a while, train up my muscles before going back into the 30 minute Lean and Sculpted body. Because I’m pretty sure I’m going to be dead tomorrow lol.

Other than working out, food was… eh, ok? I guess? I had pb and waffles for breakfast, forgot my apple, a sandwich with carrots and celery with ranch for lunch, a cookie for a snack, and half a chicken breast with corn and instant potatoes. Could’ve done without the instant potatoes and cookie lol. Probably should have just had a salad with dinner. Oh well.

Goals for 2016

-Eat more veggies at every meal (and go beyond salads and NOT JUST POTATOES EVEN THOUGH POTATOES ARE DELICIOUS but like colorful veggies)

It causes me so much stress when I go “oh I will learn the specifics of that later” knowing full well I will need it for an exam and will save learning it until right before. Instead, I want to spend the time it takes to learn it correctly the first time.

You just can’t go wrong with sweet potatoes, corn on the cob and salad for dinner // I managed to get a 40 minute yoga session in today for the first time in a long time and it felt AMAZING. I’m going to have to organise my schedule properly before go back to study next week so that I can make sure that I fit in yoga, study and my bbg workouts around baby. Feeling a bit overwhelmed but I’m also feeling like I can do this 👊
