Can you give a few tips to someone who is just starting out animating? I hope that wouldn't be to much to ask! Thank you very much!!!! Also i lov you and your art!
Well, honestly…. I don’t have anything to say in regards to advice since I’m starting out animation too! I just….well, do it! I don’t really have a plan in mind when I animate something; I basically go in blindly. But- the animations I’ve done have been referenced off of videos– so the one thing I suggest doing is to animate something while looking off of a video or gif because that way you’ll learn how to observe how an object/person moves, and it’ll train your eyes to become more keen at noticing subtle movements! It has helped me a lot in terms of drawing out movement, and I believe it’ll help you too! Though, I should say if you plan to animate a person it would be a good idea to have a bit of background knowledge of anatomy since it does help quite a lot, but it’s okay if you don’t. You learn it as you animate! But honestly, just go for it! The cool part about animation is that you decide how you want it to look; there’s not really any rules you’re bounded by when it comes to practice. It’s pretty much a trial and error kind of thing! Experiment a bit and choose what you like and don’t like! Just have fun! OH!! Before I forget, it’s a good idea to go research the 12 Principles of Animation because that’s pretty much the foundation of learning how to animate! But other than that, I don’t really have anything else to say… Good luck with your animation practice! And thank you for the kind words!!
First of all the updated blu-ray animation with the japanese sub is an amazing one-of-a-kind experience! I highly recommend it! The animation is gorgeous in HD blu-ray quality! Tiny details everywhere, the hair, the zig-zag highlights, the eyes, lip gloss, the facial expressions, landscapes, it’s all so clear and beautiful and pops off the screen from across the room! They even updated the scripting. Viz made the translations more clear and concise.
This makes me SO happy as I adore the original japanese audio and paired with the new animation is just - ahh 💖👏🌙👍
For the skeptics, you have to see it to believe it first of all, but hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of frames were redrawn. You can tell right from the beginning that your money was worth every cent in Acts 2&3. Act 3 having the most redrawn frames than any other act in season 1 on it’s own.
For the “try it before you buy it crowd,” you’re going to have to stream at least Acts 2&3 in the english dub to preview the blu-ray animation before you’re convinced. The dub is pretty good too, I love all the voice actors!
Watching it again, even just one episode randomly, has let me relive the magic that the director and character designer intended for Sailor Moon Crystal. I love everything about it, including the one-of-a-kind sequences in real-time and I love the feel of it too, especially in the beginning of the arc! It really is glamorous and delicate.
