just a really fun movie

every disney (and more) animation movies: snow white and the seven dwarfs (1937)

Now, a formula to transform my beauty into ugliness. Change my queenly raiment to a peddler’s cloak. Mummy dust, to make me old. To shroud my clothes, the black of night. To age my voice, an old hag’s cackle. To whiten my hair, a scream of fright. A blast of wind to fan my hate. A thunderbolt to mix it well. Now, begin thy magic spell.

This surprise-gift is for m’dear friend, @furgemancs !

Have Asy enjoying a peaceful ride on Parasaurolophus~ Cx Not really an AU, just something really fun since we both LOVED this movie Dinotopia to death, so yeah LMAO!

Somewhat… Dinosaur’s evolution took an unexpected, drastic turn, causing every poor reptile to decrease in size… Amen.

Yeah, but consider this: chubby Lily Evans.

Reasons to watch The Man From U.N.C.L.E

  • The main characters begin the journey as antagonists so it’s fun to see them go from hating each other to saving each other. (Also cute as heck if you ask me.)
  • The chemistry between Napoleon, Ilya and Gaby.
  • Badass female villain who towers over everybody.
  • Accents. Hight differences.
  • Men arguing over fashion.
  • Cute mechanic girl who’s the real MVP of the story.
  • Dancing and wrestling. At the same time. Kind of.
  • The SCORE.
  • The suits, the dresses, the scenery, oh my god, I love this movie.
  • It’s really just a fun and great homage to old spy movies.

A few days ago, I read a review for Age of Ultron that summed up the problem with Joss Whedon’s writing perfectly: THE MCU HAS MATURED SINCE THE FIRST AVENGERS FILM. The Winter Soldier gave us a much more fleshed out and complex Steve Rogers, plus a more nuanced and interesting Natasha Romanoff. Iron Man 3 dealt with Tony Stark’s PTSD. And now we have Captain America: Civil War coming up that will explore the philosophical differences between Steve, Tony and the rest of the Avengers team. The MCU is dealing with much heavier subject matter and Whedon can’t keep up. This is why I’m glad to see the Russo Brothers taking charge of the MCU. They know how to handle adult subject matter and still make a fun movie.

Plus, I just really wanna see Joss Whedon’s reaction to the Russo Brothers retconning all his bullshit from the first 2 Avengers films.

Ghostbusters thoughts <3

Wow just saw Ghostbusters and I really, really liked it. Was actually better than I expected it to be. I’m not a huge fan of comedies in general or Melissa McCarthy’s previous roles but myself and everyone in the cinema were regularly laughing. Also I am so gay for the characters.

Went on IMDB afterwards and got super bummed out by all the one star reviews, no way it deserves that! People are acting like the original Ghostbusters was like a cinematic master piece when really it’s just a fun little romp movie… just as the new one is! I dunno maybe people need to take off their nostalgia goggles .

All the stuff about it being sexist against men is bull shit. If the jokes offend you then surely you would have been offended by all the sexism in the original? Movies are allowed to have dumb men/women characters it’s just shitty when it’s always the same dumb woman character (and would be equally shitty if men got subject to that sort of portrayal all the time too). Kevin wasn’t made out to be dumb because he’s a man , the jokes weren’t about him being a man. You could switch the character to a woman and the character still would have made sense. The joke was that he was just dumb. So refreshing to have the roles reversed tbh. Really if anything the movie played it safe with feminist aspects and I’m not saying this as a criticism to the movie at all but a reality check to everyone who thought or assumed it was too social justicey . They easily could have done more with the sexism against women as scientists angle etc

Other criticisms I’ve read were about the moving being bogged down by too many references to the original?? But I went with @mooseings who hasn’t seen the originals and she enjoyed it. I mean sure it’s a subjective opinion but we didn’t get that vibe.

The shit Leslie Jones has gone through for simply being in this movie is disgusting. Basically I just have no idea why people hate so much! If you’re going to complain about social justice you probably shouldn’t be the same people that cause the need for it to exist.

The first movie was really about her coming into her own as a hero, even though we didn’t see her suit up yet. So we’re so excited about now being able to show her fully formed and what she is as a superhero. Her power set, how she fights, and what are the injustices that matter to her that she wants to right. That’s part of the really fun thing of the next movie.
It just didn’t make sense for Wasp [to be in Civil War] because there’s so many characters in this movie, and you really want to see her become a hero and really spend time with her. She’s a complicated character and a rich character. We’re really, really having fun writing that.
