The Junior Sophisticates label was launched in 1948 by husband and wife Ben and Anne Klein. As the name implies, this line was for a junior, or smaller figure. The designer was Anne Klein, who designed adult clothes for petite women, a breakthrough in a market that had been based on cutesy and sweet designs.
