Spilling Love || Junhui || Oneshot

Word Count: 1709

Genre: oneshot, fluff

Summary: Junhui has a hard time figuring out why his coworker hates him so much until he hears Jeonghan’s ridiculous suggestion.

Junhui lives next door to his coworker. And his coworker (you) is pretty cute.

Every morning that he goes to work, he’d see you. You two would make eye contact as you are locking the door and he gives you a friendly smile, which you end up scowling at and walking away from. You would walk ahead to the elevator and then Junhui would get on with you. The two of you would stand in uncomfortable silence until the floor is reached and then you would board the same bus (with him sitting in the front and you in the back or visa versa) and you two would get to work at the same time and go to your respective seats then too.

The Soulmate Theory (Soulmate AU)

Request: Can you please do #2 and #3 with Jun? Thank you much :)

2) “I’m always tired…but never of you.”
3) “I’d be a terrible person if I let you do something stupid alone.”

Member: Seventeen’s Jun x Y/N

Type: Fluff

You tapped your pen against the metal spiral holding together your notebook and attempted not to scowl. You were unsure why you had signed up for this class, especially now that you were having to pay for an education. College wasn’t something you imagined as being such a series of hits or misses, but man, were you picking the wrong elective courses.

You looked up to your instructor, a bulbous man of around fifty. He had probably been balding since before you were born and judging by his lack of wedding ring, you assumed he had been divorced about as long.

Which was juuuust perfect.

When a man is teaching a class about soul mate lore, it was definitely best if he had divorced who you had assumed to be his soulmate. His first words tattoo stood out brightly on his exposed forearm, bits of it faded or scabbed from his apparent attempts in trying to remove it.

The irony was just too good.

“Today’s lesson,” his raspy voice croaked. “Will be focused on “Soulmate Identifying Marks.” Now I know you all received a brief overview of this in high school, but today we’ll be diving in depth to really explore soul marks and their use in our culture.”

You rolled your eyes and subconsciously glanced down at your knee. Through a small rip in your jeans, you could just barely see a snippet of the scrawled text that had appeared on your skin years ago. Looking up again, you noticed your classmates around you were doing the same.

You were all just trying to figure it out.

Admittedly, for awhile, you didn’t believe in soulmates. As your professor had mentioned, you had all gone through classes in middle and high school to explain the unique condition your species had been subjected to. The multifaceted world of soulmates was not an easily digestible one. Different cultures experienced different things, and if you didn’t have the same type of soul mark as the other people in your household, it only meant you were destined to travel, that your soulmate was in a completely different country than you were.

From the country you had come from, in general, you would be born with a birthmark that would be similar to your future soulmate’s birthmark. This difference in skin pigmentation could appear at any point of your young adult life, starting as soon as you hit puberty. You had waited and waited, but no such birthmark occurred.

Your mother had been entirely too stressed about your future love life, or lack there of. She took you to religious officials, doctors, and even once, a tattoo artist. No one had an answer for her, but you were at peace with that. Surely there were others out there like you who didn’t have a mark, and you would be okay. Someone would find you…someday.

Until you woke up one morning and noticed clouded gray marks dotting your kneecap. Scrubbing for nearly an hour in the bathroom only made it worse, the words becoming more clear than any ink smudge could.

And your mother had become happy again.

You didn’t not have a soulmark, just a different one, belonging to a different culture.

After a quick google search, you had discovered that your type of soul mark mostly appeared in East Asia. Once your mother found out, she had every college pamphlet from Hong Kong to Tokyo picked out for you. Before you were even capable of realizing the future you were launching yourself towards, you had your suitcase packed to begin your tour of countries you had never dreamed of visiting.

And that’s how you ended up here.

In Seoul, trying to figure out exactly why your bodies had become this way.

But this guy wouldn’t be giving you the answers.

“Soul marks are an identifying characteristic to help two individuals find each other, such as complimentary birthmarks, or as in our country, the first words you hear spoken by your soulmate. The mark may appear any time after puberty,” your professor continued, droning in monotone as he read verbatim from your textbook. “Of course in the following units, we’ll go over sense alterations and other signs seen in varying countries. When our body sciences began to include soul mate identifying capabilities, divorce rates…have dropped and life expectancies are still increasing.”

“If you were born in South Korea,” he continued blandly. You had a difficult time looking at him, his facial expressions becoming more and more disinterested in the actual words he was saying. “Or have a soul mate from an East Asian country, we have all become familiar with the words marking our skin. Very rarely does someone become a young adult without seeing words written on their flesh. Of course there are varying factors. Our culture seems to forget those who are deaf or have different disabilities. Most often, we’re left to our own worst thoughts that we don’t have soul mates, but realistically, that will only occur for under three percent of the population.”

“Is that around the world or just East Asia?” someone called out.

The professor chuckled before shaking his head. “East Asia, do you really think I care that far to search numbers around the world? I hardly care outside of Korea.”

You looked up uneasily and scanned the classroom, locking eyes with a handsome boy you had recognized during roll call. His name had seemed foreign in structure, so he was just as displaced in this new country as you were. He gave you a sad smile and lifted his brows before turning his face back to the instructor. You continued to look around at your fellow classmates, realizing that none of you looked similar. Every skin tone on the spectrum shone out underneath the florescent lights and you were proud. You had all enrolled here for the same reason.

All of you had been the outliers in your cultures. All of you had soulmates dwelling in the 4,600,000 square miles of East Asia. All of you were here in hopes of bringing yourself a little bit closer to your destiny.

You felt a rush of adrenaline flood your veins as you stuck your arm into the air, lifting it to be able to speak.

“Oh…uh, yes…Y/N, is it?” your teacher asked, lifting his brows in surprise.

“What happened to your soulmate?” you asked, incapable of biting your tongue any longer. “You’ve talking to us about soul marks in Korea, but you haven’t told us anything about yourself. Shouldn’t we hear your story?”

“Oh,” he chuckled, crossing his arms. He tilted his forearm deliberately so you could no longer see the marred words printed there. “Well, I don’t think that’s necessarily a story I owe you.”

“Don’t you though?” you prodded. “How can you be a subject matter expert when you don’t want to talk about how the subject applies to your life? I mean, you are quite literally telling us all that our society runs off of the idea of soulmates, granted, you don’t really care about those of us not from your own country, but we don’t even really know if you have one.”

“Of course I have one,” he croaked. “And I don’t appreciate this attack on my character.”

“It’s not an attack on your character,” you groaned. “If it’s to be considered an attack at all, it’s on your intelligence.”

You looked around to see your classmates stifle their giggles, trying to hide smiles as you voiced all of the words they had been thinking.

“Get out of my class,” the professor hissed. Your eyes grew wide as he stared at you. “And anyone else who shares the same opinion, you can feel free to leave as well.”

You took a deep breath as you shut your book with the all of the force you were capable of. Shoving it in your backpack, you glanced up at the professor and nodded. You slung your bag over your shoulder and breathed in sharply as you noticed movement in your peripherals. You looked over to see the same boy you had made eye contact with previously, now packing his things and standing.

“Anyone else?” the professor asked as you began down the steps of the auditorium style classroom. A buzz of conversation radiated around you as you moved, incapable of making eye contact with anyone else. You felt exhilarated as you walked, the first real time you had ever confronted anyone, let alone a teacher. You breezed out of the classroom and could only breath properly again once you reached one of the benches outside. You swung your book bag around and plopped it on the ground before exhaling.

You involuntarily flinched as a body appeared beside yours on the bench. The boy who had walked out of the classroom as you had turned and nodded at you.

“You didn’t agree with him either?” you chuckled, shaking your head.

He smiled, tilting his own as he looked at you. “I’d be a terrible person if I let you do something stupid alone.”

You stopped for a moment, almost numb to his words as he spoke them. You turned slowly to properly face him, dozens of questions attempting to assemble themselves in your brain and burst from your lips.

He nodded brightly, a large grin on his face. “Yep, it’s me. I’m the guy.”

You furrowed your brows for a moment, thinking back to the words decorating your skin. You had stared at them for years, wondering about the male or female who would utter that one simple sentence. You always wondered the context, wondered exactly what the “stupid something” was going to be. …which made another thought spring to your lips.

“Do you really think what I did was stupid?”

“To some, maybe,” he chuckled. “But you stood up for yourself and called him out on some pretty problematic shit, so that’s neat.”

You smiled as you shook your head, attempting to recall the first words you had spoken in his presence. “Wait…what do you have-”

He pulled up his sleeve, his smile never fading as he read the words from his forearm. “What happened to your soulmate?”

“Oh man,” you chuckled. “Sorry…that had to be confusing.”

“Admittedly,” he nodded. “I was kind of bummed when it wasn’t something more romantic. Maybe ‘I’ve finally found my home.” Or ‘I’m always tired, but never of you.’”

You lifted a brow, trying to keep from giggling. “I never thought my soulmate would be so…”

“Handsome? Romantic? Adorable?” he grinned.

“Cringy,” you snorted. “But for the record, the first thing you said to me wasn’t exactly Shakespearean.”

He rolled his eyes, but still looked amused. “This makes for a better story I think.”

“It would’ve made for a better story if we lead the charge and had the entire classroom walk out behind us,” you said with a wink.

“Don’t rule that out just yet,” he whispered, gently tapping your knee. You looked up to see your fellow students filing out of the classroom you had both just left. Your grin couldn’t grow any wider as student after student passed in rapid fire discussion about what had just happened.

“Hey,” you called out, noticing the girl you usually sat beside. “You all really left?”

“No, he cancelled class early,” she muttered, hardly looking up from her phone. “Something about how he has to reassess life choices or something.”

You heaved a sigh as you looked back to your legs and began to poke at the holes in the denim. You stretched the fabric to be able to see your skin in full. “I’d be a terrible person…”

As you were reading along silently to yourself, you felt the man beside you shift his position. Humming, he pulled at the hand you were using to shift your jeans, and wrapped it in his own instead.

“I’m Junhui by the way,” he nodded. “You were probably wondering.”

“I assumed I’d figure it out,” you smiled, nodding to him.

“So maybe our story didn’t start with a classroom revolution,” he chirped. “But it did start, so that’s something.”

“Relentlessly optimistic,” you laughed. “I like it.”

“You better,” he laughed as well. “Cause you’re kind of stuck with me now. The Soulmate theory says so.”

“Is that how it works?” you teased. “Divorce rates are down, not nonexistent.”

“Hey, hey,” he argued. “You can’t divorce me before we’ve even started dating.”

“Who makes these rules, Junnie?” you smiled.

“Me, I do,” he nodded. “And I say you’re stuck with me.”

“Hmph,” you sighed. “I guess I’ll just have to live with that then.”

“Try not to sound so enthusiastic,” he chuckled. He began to stand and tossed his bag over his arm. He reached down and tugged at your hand again. “Let’s go.”

“Where are we going?” you asked.

“Well, obviously we have to FaceTime my mom and let her know what happened. Then we have to FaceTime your mom and-”

“Whoa, whoa, whoa,” you gasped. “Can’t we just…slow down? Get some coffee first maybe? Try to digest everything that just happened?”

“Right. Coffee. Good idea,” he nodded. “Digesting. I can digest.”

You laughed, shaking your head as you shouldered your book bag. What an interesting glance into your forever.

BLURB: We met in summer, loved in spring. Hurt in winter, so may autumn bring…

A/N: Wrote this in one seating and mildly inspired by my own experiences lol can you feel the /awkward/

You knew it was him from the moment you met.

It was the summer when you were both fifteen; shy and awkward, still growing out of your preteen years and into your teenage ones. He said hello and smiled, so bright and beautiful that your heart skipped and your stomach flipped. He wasn’t the first boy you had met but he was the first one to have such an effect on you and the only one who stuck around even when you turned him away.

“My name’s Junhui,” he introduced himself, voice deep and clear, sending something plunging, plunging into your stomach. It sat there, that unknown feeling, until it swirled into a mini whirlpool and turned you into a blushing mess. You didn’t seem to know what to do with your hands so you stuck them to your side.

“I’m Y/N,” you answered a little nervously but smiling so widely your cheeks ached. He was so beautiful with his dark hair and almond eyes and you were failing hard at being nonchalant. But it wasn’t just his looks. It was… The way he looked at you, really looked at you, asking questions and making you feel important and interesting in a way no other had cared to do before.

You two spoke less than ten sentences to each other that first time but it was a conversation that would last a lifetime. How easily it would all have slipped away if neither of you had taken the chance to say hello, and every day you were glad you did.

Then it moves to the tip of your nose, each of your cheeks, pausing to let your lips spread into a sleepy smile before touching that too.

It was unusual for the library to be this packed during school hours: sounds of doorsteps shuffling across the floor, students whispering to each other, padded bangs of books closing, and the dull beeping sound of books being borrowed. Nobody ever care that this place existed before, why is there suddenly so many people today? You thought as your gaze wandered around the library hall, searching for your friend who asked you to join her in the library to finish some homework.

Grabbing your shoulder from behind, your friend had already spotted you, she called “Y/N! Hey, we’re sitting over there.” She greeted you while pointing towards the table around the corner, with only two empty seats. “Ugh, the library is so packed today. All because of that new foreign kid.”

Junhui watches. He tries to keep his gaze down and his stance respectably neutral, but he never could help it when it comes to you. He hears the jingle of gold and silver, the low murmurs of voices, an airy swirl of garments. When he at last gives in, lifts his head to take in your appearance fully, he freezes.

You look absolutely beautiful, but that doesn’t surprise Junhui; you always had this way of taking his breath away. It’s a bit much, he thinks, with the bracelets and the necklaces and the giant hoops in your ears. The headpiece looks heavy, emeralds glinting with the sunbeams streaming in from the window to your left. Despite the flow-y, light textures of your jet black dress, you look as if you’re carrying the burden of the entire world on your shoulders. Junhui supposes that you are, in a way.

“Your grace,” Junhui murmurs, tasting the unfamiliar word on his tongue. Truthfully, he’s not one for titles, feels that they dehumanize their subjects. That’s the point, he guesses, watching the hoops and stones jiggle against your skin when you abruptly turn to look at him. There’s a glint in your eye that Junhui always knows to look for, one that can’t be hidden even under thick veils or dramatic makeup.

“Ew,” you mutter, a frown tugging at your painted lips. Evidently, you’re not a fan of titles either. Junhui’s own lips twitch, muscles pulling in an expression opposite your own. He hides a private, slight smile, head bowed and shoulders slightly trembling with humor.

You turn back to your mirror. It looks like you’re preparing for a funeral rather than a coronation. Junhui watches.

Hiii! Could you do 48 with Jun?

prompt:

48 | “We’ve become the clingy couple that you used to complain about.”

scenario:

a date couldn’t have gone any better even if you’d tried

words: 1,232

genre: fluff

There were a million and one things that you could have been doing on a night as beautiful as this, clear skies and stars shining so crisply that they felt painted there, but of all the scenarios in your head, this one was by far your favorite. The night was lit up by colorful hues of dated lights, spinning and twisting along a variety of stands that lined a makeshift dirt path which weaved through the grounds of the carnival.

It was on this particular night that everything seemed to glow that much brighter, shimmering with the sounds of laughter and boisterous screams ringing from sketchy cages spinning in the air. Giant stuffed animals covered wide smiles as small arms stretched around the fabric, or perhaps it was smaller and dragged by the sweaty palms of a grinning child. Everything the carnival provided brought nothing but an overwhelming sense of joy that intoxicated your every nerve.

The tips of your fingers clamped firmly together as you adjusted your legs around Jun’s back, hugging his neck as he paraded you around along with your friends. After a particularly nauseating turn on Space Trip, vertigo settled in rather quickly and it was without a single question that Jun bent down in front of you and heaved you onto his back.

“You can put me down now,” you said into his ear, laughing as his body shivered from your voice.

“Nah, I’m okay,” he retorted, craning his head to glance back at you from the corner of his eye. “Besides, you’re keeping me warm.”

“But I have to go to the bathroom,” you said in a sing-song only to have him squatting down just enough for you to slide off his back.

However, the instant your feet were firmly planted on the ground his hand was winding through yours until your fingers were knotted together, his hand tugging you along. A coy smile spread adoringly over your face as he mindlessly pulled you closer into his side, arms brushing against each other as you walked.

He moved with purpose toward your group of friends up ahead and gave a pat to Donghun’s shoulder as the pair of you caught up. “Do you know where the bathrooms are?”

The brunet only frowned and shrugged his shoulders before pausing and standing up on his toes to glance around. After a moment he pointed off to the right and gestured toward a blue sign painted with the word ‘RESTROOM’.

“We were gonna go get some funnel cake at a stand a few yards up,” Donghun commented as he glanced between the two of you. “Just give me a call if we aren’t there when you’re done.”

“Sounds good, thanks, man,” Jun smiled, giving his friend another slap on the back as he pulled you away from your friends.

The pair of you were quick to rush off to the bathroom’s, meeting at the dart game off to the side once you were done. It seemed the second you emerged from the bathroom, though, that he was right there with his arm tossed over your shoulder and a kiss planted at your temple.

“Someone’s rather affectionate tonight,” you hummed with a grin but cuddled into his side with your fingers hanging from his.

He rose his shoulders in a shrug and swiveled his attention back onto the pathway before you. “I can’t help it, you look really cute in my flannel.”

“Dork,” you scoffed as you rolled your eyes and pulled him along with you to meet back up with your friends.

The group of them were easy to spot as they climbed over each other and yelled into the night, laughter bellowing as heads craned backward in happiness. The second the two of you joined them, you were tugged apart and enveloped into different conversations, Donghun talking his ear off as Taehyung did a full charade of Chan’s slip at the ring toss.

However, amidst the stories and laughing, a set of fingers wiggled its way into yours as a hand wound around your waist and pressed you into a firm back. A smile grew on your face as you nodded at Tae, but the drum of Jun’s fingers on the skin beneath your shirt had you pushing yourself further back.

“We’ve become that clingy couple that you used to complain about,” you whispered as you stole your attention up to the blond holding you.

He only rolled his eyes and hugged you tighter, leaning down just enough to peck your lips before muttering, “Shut up.”

Yet the night only carried on like this, with him stealing you away to press kisses to your neck from behind the ticket booth, grinning as your hands swatted at him when he beat you in a game. He could only pull you toward him like the earth circling the sun, urging you to stay near him as the night crawled onward.

His attention never divided from you and as the two of you found yourselves at the top of the ferris wheel, your head tucked just right under his chin as you leaned against him. Every now and then he would kiss your head, thumb running gently over your hand as the ride slowly brought you up and down.

“I don’t want this night to end,” you said softly, pushing your nose into his shirt as you tucked your legs onto the bench beneath you.

“Me neither,” he agreed with ease, and you didn’t have to look to know he was smiling. “I don’t think we’ve had this much fun since our date at that one game house.”

“You mean the one where you beat me in everything and didn’t even give me the plushie you won?” A brow quirked as you angled your head up at him but he only pursed his lips and looked away only to break into a smile as you pinched his side.

“I’m being serious!” He laughed, pulling you closer to him and turning his attention to your hands interlocked on his lap. “It feels like all we’ve been doing is saying hello and goodbye because of our schedules. Getting to just sit here with you is all I’ve wanted to do for weeks.”

A blush spread across your cheeks at his confession, but he only shook you to pull your eyes back to him. “I’ve missed you.

“Well I’m right here,” you said as you bit your bottom lip.

His smile widened at that, head craning once again to catch your lips with his in a kiss that was far more than something innocent. He was swift to pull you onto his lap, laughing as you giggled when his fingers met your waist, kiss never breaking. As his lips only pressed harder to yours, you found yourself blissfully aware of how his hands were gripping you closer to him, enticing you with all his affections that he could only pour into a kiss.

It was when he pulled away, breaths heaving softly from both your mouths, that he pushed his forehead to yours with cheeks flaring red. His eyes never wavered from yours and you could feel the intensity of his adoration for you without the need of a single word. Only he provided your thoughts with his, whispering a confession you only dreamed of hearing roll off his lips.

“I love you.”

“Y/N… Please?” Jun asked, laying across you with his entire body sprawled out. You could barely breathe, let alone answer him properly.

“No! I told you, I’m not telling.” You replied, struggling to push him off. Your boyfriend finally sighed and sat up, letting you sit up and breathe. He gave you a pout.

“Even if it was me?” He asked, and you rolled your eyes.

“Even then. You will never know, and we are going to keep it that way.” You said, pulling a blanket over your knees. He was already latched onto your arm and you rolled your eyes.

“Come on, you already admitted that you liked Seventeen and had a bias before we met, why can’t you tell me who it is?” He looked up at you with his best kitten face, and you felt your heart swelling. He definitely knew how to get to you.

“Because,” You started, and looked at the blanket, picking at threads. “Either you’re going to get mad or extremely cocky, and I don’t want to deal with all of that.” You patted his head, and he scrunched his eyebrows at you.

“You realize that answer gave away nothing.” You smirked at him and it was his turn to roll his eyes. “Could you at least give me a clue? At least narrow it down?”

“Fine. He’s in the group.” You shrugged, and Jun gave you such a done face, causing you to giggle.

“Fine, don’t tell me. You just won’t get any cuddles.” He pulled himself away, and you laughed at your boyfriend. Surely you could handle a longer time without contact than he could.

It turns out he was good when he was stubborn. Jun kept to his word and only gave you quick hugs when saying hello and goodbye, and slight high fives. Not a single indication of any form of contact between the two of you occurred for about 2 weeks. It was driving you insane.

He was sitting on his couch watching videos on his phone when you walked up behind him, wrapping him in a hug.

“Fine. I’ll tell you.” He whipped his head around so fast he almost knocked your heads together.

“Really? You will?” He said excitedly, pulling you onto the couch.

“On one condition,” You said, holding up a finger. “You can’t get mad.”

“Deal.” He agreed, and was hopping up and down. “Who is it who is it who is it who is-”

“Okay calm down!” You smiled at him, chuckling at his excitement. “Okay, so my bias… And this is way before I even came close to meeting you and getting to know you and everything that’s happened the past year and-”

“Y/N, I do have things to do today.”

“Fine! It was Wonwoo.” You blurted out. He raised an eyebrow, blinking at you a few times. To your surprise, he kind of shrugged his shoulders and made a meh face. “What?”

“Nothing, that would make sense. I mean,” he adjusted how he was sitting, starting to play with your hand. “You guys like a lot of the same things, and he’s a good guy. I’d ship it.” He smirked as you smacked his arm.

“Well too bad, because I’m currently taken, aren’t I?”

“Yeah…” He smiled at your hand, then took a deep breath. “Okay new question.”

“I just answered your question. That’s all you get.” You shrugged, and he pouted at you.

“Please? Just one more?” You sighed at his sad face, and immediately caved.

“And that would be?”

“Where was I?”

“Where were you when? You’re right here?” You asked, confused.

“No, on your list. Where was I? Like was I at the top of the list, or… you know.” He looked at you and you felt his panic.

“Honestly… You were in the middle somewhere.” You muttered, and he nodded his head and looked back at your hands, which prompted you to reach over and have him face you again. “But then I met you, and it took all of 3 and a half minutes for you to immediately take the number one spot.” He smirked at you and rolled his eyes, still clearly smitten by what you said. It really doesn’t take much to get that boy back into his happy, energetic self.

“You know, I bet if I tried now I could do it in two.” He winked, and you sighed, kissed his nose, and stood up.

“Sure honey, whatever you say.”

“Hey!” He said, immediately back hugging you, pulling you back on the couch. “Don’t underestimate my flirting abilities!” He giggled, and you laughed along with him. For the first time in two weeks, you were warm and content again.
