You have no idea how much I love this moment. I had already booked the ticket for the S.S. Nalu, but this is what made me hurry up and board with an extended lifetime ticket. It’s also the moment that made my best friend start to ship them.
So, Lucy was kidnapped and just discovered that she is indirectly at fault for her guild’s pain. She tries to escape Phantom Lord, only to find that her cell is several stories high.
She starts to weigh her options and remembers the oppressiveness of her father, Jude Heartfilia.
She’s not going to go back to that life. So, she uses her only other option. To jump. Lucy places all of her trust in a single person. She knows that he’ll be there to catch her.
Yes but imagine a Harry Potter/Fairy Tail NaLu AU that has:
-Layla taking Lucy to get her wand, just the two of them (Jude was too busy with his job in at the ministry of magic).
-Lucy being shy on the train but opening up when a short blue haired fellow bookworm by the name of Levy Mcgarden offers the seat next to her that just so happens to be across a certain pink haired boy with motion sickness.
-Lucy and Levy instantly bonding over books and have so much fun bonding over books that they don’t even realize they’re at Hogwarts until Natsu suddenly jumps up and rushes off the train forgetting to bring his oddly colored blue cat, Happy.
-Lucy going to find Natsu before everyone is sorted to return Happy as the two of them form a bond as well. She finds out that Natsu is the Natsu Dragneel known as the only person who ever survived an encounter with Zeref, “the darkest wizard of all time”.
-Makarov is Hogwart’s headmaster
-Lucy being sorted into Ravenclaw because that is the house the hat chooses for Levy, but that hat strangely seems to think she could do well enough in each of the hogwarts houses, Natsu is of course is in Gryffindor.
-There are many ghost spirits that like to hang around Hogwarts but for some reason only Lucy can see the spirits of the zodiac.
-Lucy makes many friends from different houses and ages and their group comes to be known as Fairy Tail (Basically the tenrou team….Team Natsu, Levy, Gajeel, Cana, Juvia, Laxus, Thunder God Tribe, Strauss Siblings).
-Lucy receiving a letter that Layla was murdered by someone unknown and the mystery of the zodiac spirits get weirder as Natsu comforts her.
-Lucy and Natsu’s first year at Hogwarts reveals a mystery of Layla’s death and her connection with the zodiac spirits and Zeref’s past.
Author’s Note: Well! FT Angst Week is starting on the first, and today is the first bonus day, so guess who decided to write for all of it?
This is a Nalu one-shot for the prompt “Cross my heart".
Cross my heart…
They meet among the crisp white roses that make up her garden.
sees him in the shadows of the apple tree, her soft pink lips parting
in surprise when she sees the quiet teen with hair as rose-colored as
the sky as the sun that sets behind him. She asks of who he is; he
answers that he is the King of Demons, dubbed such by the brother that
loves him enough to bring him back from the dead. He tells her that he
doesn’t really have a name anymore, that many call him by the
hair-raising title his brother has given him, one that she knows well.
he returns the question, she replies with simple words: “I am Lucy. I’m
the woman who lives in this place, alone, because my father is away
with my mother, working on their company to try and get us more money so
that we may live in a nicer home. One that isn’t falling apart.”
He replies, “Why wouldn’t you leave?”
it’s my home and I must wait for Mother and Father,” she replies
calmly. She tucks a lock of blonde hair behind her ear, her actions
thoughtful. “Mother told me to beware the man who goes by E.N.D. But I
don’t believe that you’re someone to fear…you look tired. Why?”
bares his teeth almost playfully, showing their sharpness, and Lucy
notices the black markings that creep up his face as he does so before
fading away again. “I’m tired of having to kill. I don’t like it. But I
She questions why he has to; E.N.D. holds no answer.
she asks him another question, a secretive smile on her gentle face.
“Well?” she urges. “Tell me your name. Not your title, but your name.”
He is honestly startled by this. “You want to know the name I had before?”
“The one you were given by your parents, yes,” she confirms.
he says hoarsely, unable to believe what this kind girl is saying. Her
blonde hair glows like that of a fairy’s as she smiles, her dark eyes
delighted. “Natsu. My name is Natsu.”
Summary: Being new to the school wasn’t Lucy’s only problem; try being mute as well. Also add in being bullied for her disability, but fortunately for Lucy a pink haired male swore to protect her. Befriending the mysterious man, Lucy realized she wasn’t the only one with troubles in her life.
“Lucy!” The blonde looked up seeing her father rush into the little nurse’s office, a distressed look on his features. He took one glance at his beaten up daughter, already the image of her bruised body implanted in his mind. “Oh my…”
Natsu seen Jude’s head snap over to his to meet his gaze, anger twinkling in his eye. “What happened?!”
Natsu looked down in shame, still holding Lucy’s hand. “I-I don’t know. I left class and was walking down the hallway and seen her like this.” His hand gripped hers tighter.
Jude was fuming, literally feeling the steam coming out of his ears. He shifted his craned his neck down to look at Makarov. “Had bullying always been a problem here?!”
“No it has not. Of course bullying does happen here, but never to this extent.” The short man explained, knowing no words could solace the man.
“And it just had to be my daughter huh.” Jude said in a low tone. “I’m taking Lucy home for the day, I might need to rethink this whole public school ordeal.” He didn’t miss the way the two teens looked at him with a hurt expression, the anger he felt masking any sort of remorse he felt.
He walked over to the blonde. “Lucy, are you able to walk?” When his daughter shook her head, he sighed. He looked over to Natsu.
“Can you help me get her in the car? I can’t lift her with my back.”
Without a second thought, Natsu was up on his feet. “Of course.”
Gently he slid one of his hands under her back while the other slipped behind her knees. She gave a pained look as he did so, making guilt rush through his veins.
Jude watched the whole scene. The way Natsu had tried to pick her up as carefully as he could without hurting her further, the way he cooed her when her features scrunched up in pain… it made the anger he felt recede just a bit.
That boy really cared for his daughter.
“I assure you Mr. Heartfilia we will get this whole case solved. Lets just all take a breather and regroup tomorrow.”
“Sounds like a plan.” He said before walking out the door, Natsu in suit of him.
The two walked in silence through the hallways. Natsu just looking at Lucy’s resting face looking for any signs if he was hurting her. Jude would steal a glance or two over to them, making sure he wasn’t hurting her.
After what seemed like hours of silence, Natsu spoke.
“… I’m sorry.”
Jude was so surprised he almost fell over. “What are you sorry about?”
Natsu held her closer to him. “I told you guys I would take care of Lucy… but I already failed.”
“It wasn’t your fault. You were in class.”
“I ditched class to make sure she was okay… but I didn’t get there in time.”
Jude sighed, heart warming at how hurt the pink haired student looked. “Look Natsu… bullying happens.” Jude opened the door, moving to the side so Natsu could slide Lucy into the passenger’s seat and buckled her in. “It could have been worse.”
He thanked Natsu before walking over to the drivers side, leaving him with words Natsu would never forget.
“She's… all I have left.”
Natsu remained silent, just watching as Jude revved the engine up to the vehicle, and began to drive away. Natsu’s lips were turned into a frown, trying to fight the guilt he felt.
“She’s all I have left too.” He whispered before he started to walk to his apartment, deciding to skip the rest of school for the day.
On his way home, he formulated ideas on how he was going to advert the problem. Many ideas popped in his mind… but they all turned out to be failures.
He groaned, walking into his apartment, throwing his school bag on his couch before plopping on it. He slumped further into the couch, eyebrows furrowing in thought. His gaze shifted over to the two pictures that rested on his intable.
“I don’t know what to do Igneel, Zeref-nii…” His eyes focused on the pictures, mind still concentrated on ways to help. “If you two were here… I bet you’d know what to do.”
Suddenly, an idea formed in his head. He grinned to himself. It might not be the best idea… but maybe it would help. Anything would help right now. He pulled out his phone and texted Gajeel.
Hey Lug-nut! Can you make me something and bring it to school tomorrow?
“Here you are Principal Makarov.” Jude said handing a piece of paper over to the short man. “I had Lucy write down what happened yesterday.”
The old principal immediately took the sheet of paper, scanning it over with his eyes. “So, you caught Kyoga, Briar, and Mary smoking in the bathroom and they viciously attacked you for seeing them?”
Lucy nodded her head, lips turning down at the memory. Makarov sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. “Theres only one problem… we didn’t see them do it. Its not that I don’t trust you Lucy, we just need evidence.”
“Evidence?!” Jude shouted. “What other evidence do you need besides the bruises and emotional scars that they left on my daughter?!”
“Mr. Heartfilia, I will bring the three girls in here for questioning but since there is no witness besides Lucy if they deny it then there is nothing I can do.”
“This is ridiculous.” Lucy’s father scowled. “If something like this happens again I will notify the police and take Lucy out of this establishment.”
Makarov held up his hand. “To prevent the incident from ever occurring again, I came up with a solution.”
Jude quirked a questioning eyebrow. “Oh? And pray tell what is this idea?”
As if on queue, the door opened revealing a pink haired teen.
“Yo gramps! You called?” Natsu walked into the office, mood brightening as he saw Lucy looking back at him with a smile on her lips.
“Yes Natsu, please sit.” He waited for Natsu to take a seat next to Lucy, offering her a bright smile as he did so. “As you know what happened yesterday with Lucy is quite tragic. With all the solutions I thought of, I figured this one would work out the best.”
“Oh?” Natsu looked to the principal confused. “What are ya yammerin’ on about Gramps?”
“I would like you to be Lucy’s escort from class to class. I’ll give you a pass that says you’re allowed to leave and be late to class for five minutes only.” He explained looking very seriously at the pink haired teen. “Think you could do that for me?”
“Well duh.” Natsu replied as if he was offended that Makarov would even ask if he wanted to do it. “I promised to protect Lucy with me life, and I’m going to keep it.”
The corner of Lucy’s lips turned into a soft smile at the pink haired teen. She couldn’t believe how truly blessed she was that she had met someone that cares about her so deeply… it made the butterflies in her stomach race.
“Excellent.” Makarov said with confidence. “Now, I believe you two should head on over to class first period is almost over.”
The two teens nodded standing up at their principals request. Before heading out, Lucy bent over to kiss her father on the cheek.
“Have a great day at school dear.” He said as they retreated out the door. His attention turned back to Makarov.
“So principal Makarov. Any other ideas of how to catch these bullies in action?”
“Man it bites we had to waste one of the two classes we had together in the principal’s office.” Natsu whined walking Lucy to her next class. She nodded in agreement. He looked over at her. Her brown eyes glistening with content, bringing out the light pink sweater she wore along with her black pleated skirt. Her ankle high black boots were the only sounds coming from her. Natsu gulped, his face reddening just at the sight of her.
How could one girl be so beautiful?
“Hey Luce…” Natsu stopped walking. Noticing his lack of movement, Lucy stopped and looking at him with a concerned expression. “I’m… sorry for not being there yesterday.”
Lucy’s expression fell, looking at the teen; heart panging with sorrow at his hurt expression. She walked over to him, placing a hand on his arm giving him a soft smile assuring him it was okay.
“I… wanted to make sure that it never happened again.” Lucy watched as Natsu fished around in his pocket, pulling out an item. When he showed her it, Lucy’s hands instantly flew to her mouth.
It was a whistle. A metal whistle that looked like it was dyed blue with a pink ‘L’ carved into the side.
“I had Gajeel make this whistle… and make it blue since its your favorite color.” He explained, cheeks reddening at his words. “If you’re ever in trouble just blow it. No one may be able to hear your voice, but they will sure as hell hear this.”
Lucy felt tears burn the back of her eyes. He had done this for her? She looked up at him, allowing him to put the whistle on her. Lucy lifted her hair, letting the cool metal fall on her exposed skin. A large hand caressing her cheek brought her out of her thoughts.
“I never want to see you like I did yesterday… never.”
Lucy felt Natsu’s warm lips on her forehead, making her eyes grow wide. The bell rang, making Natsu pull away from her. Lucy frowned at the loss of contact with him.
“I’ll see you next period Luce!” Natsu casually said with a two finger salute, walking the other way to his class. Lucy just stood there, shock evident on her features. She smiled softly, holding the metal whistle in her hands.
