josie maran lip and cheek stain

As savvy Sephora shoppers know, the register line is what’s up. Hiding in those little bins that frame the walk to the cashiers are minis prime for packing in any bag—whether it’s carry-on luggage for your trip to Bora Bora or a satchel for your bike ride to the farmers’ market. The fact is, the weather is killing it, and we’re looking for any excuse to be out and about. These are the pint-sized products in our bags that keep us prepared for any summer adventure at a moment’s notice. BECKY PEDERSON

Pinch Provisions Minimergency Kit
Consider this the put-together power woman’s army knife. This 17-piece kit is made to get you through a variety of beauty, fashion, and hygiene woes—and it comes neatly packed in a cutie-patootie, TSA-compliant pouch so small it will fit in the palm of your hand.

Tangle Teezer Compact Styler
Feeling knotty? Painlessly untangle unintentional dreadlocks from running around the beach, chasing cute dogs in the park, or whatever it is you’re doing to while away the days, you crazy kid. The unique brush teeth move with your hair, minimizing breakage as it styles.

Calling the grease police! Summer brings humidity, and humidity brings facial oil spills. Unless you want your face to shine like a beacon, it’s smart to tote around blotting sheets. SEPHORA COLLECTION offers packs with six different skin-care benefits, including tea tree to address tired skin and mint to cool and soothe.

Josie Maran Coconut Watercolor Cheek Gelée
Nothing dreamily whispers relaxation quite like sipping on fresh coconut water. Even if palm trees aren’t on your horizon, you can still enjoy some aloha vibes compliments of Josie Maran. This gelée is meant to be applied as a blush, but pro tip: It works great as a lip stain, too.

SEPHORA COLLECTION Jumbo Liner 12HR Wear Waterproof
Maybe we’re still reeling from our spring cleaning frenzy, but we’re really into beauty products that secretly double as other products right now. In addition to the above gelée, the other twofers in our collection are these mega eyeliners. They come in an array of colors and can be smudged out into an eye shadow look.

Giorgio Armani Acqua di Gioia Rollerball
Summer is a really good time to pretend you’re a mermaid trapped in a human’s body, regardless of whether you have access to the ocean (or even a kiddie pool). This aquatic fragrance is a must. It’s inspired by the Mediterranean Sea with hints of jasmine, pink pepper, and Italian lemon. (Does not come with guardian crab angel.)

Tarte Brazilliance Skin Rejuvenating Maracuja Self Tanning Face Towelettes
If you’re still as pale as the ghost of winters past, this pack of towelettes is your new BFF. It’s infused with maracuja oil, which has been known to brighten skin’s appearance. The formula also has vitamins A and E to protect against free radicals while moisturizing—and of course, tanning.

powrightinthekisser  asked:

Do u know of any sweat proof makeup? Like foundations or shadow or anything?

I’ve gotten quite a few questions about summer makeup for swimming and sweaty summer days so i’ll recommend some long wearing, waterproof products :)

One tip is using a cream product under a powder product will help your makeup last longer for example using a cream blush or bronzer and using a powder blush or bronzer over it. This will help blush and bronzer last all day through!

Another tip is using primers like foundation primers, eyeshadow primers, lash primers, any sort of primer will also help any product last longer.

Foundation. Water based foundations are great for sweating and swimming, they are water based instead of oil based so they won’t slip and slide once wet or sweaty like oil based foundations. Long wearing foundations work well too because they are made to withstand heat, sweat, water, oily skin, etc.

  • MAC Face & Body (water based)
  • Estee Lauder Double Wear
  • Covergirl 3 in 1 Outlast Foundation

Eyeshadow. Long wearing cream shadows work best because they stick to the lid instead of just sitting on the skin like a powder eyeshadow. Using an eyeshadow primer underneath and dusting powder on top will also help the shadows last longer.

  • Maybelline Color Tattoo 24 Hr Cream Shadows
  • MAC Paint Pots
  • Makeup Forever Aqua Cream
  • Smashbox Limitless 15 Hour Eyeshadow

Eyeliner. Liquid liner is a lot more long lasting than pencil or gel. Waterproof liquid liner is best and won’t smudge or transfer as much as a non waterproof liner.

  • Makeup Forever Aqua Liner
  • Stila Stay All Day Liner
  • Maybelline Ultra Liner in Waterproof
  • Physicians Forumla 2 in 1 Serum Liner

Mascara. There are many, many waterproof mascaras so i’d recommend getting your fav mascara in the waterproof formula!

  • Makeup Forever Aqua Lash
  • Maybelline Falsies in Waterproof
  • Covergirl Lash Blast in Waterproof
  • Urban Decay Cannonball Ultra Waterproof

Blush Stains/Lip Stains. Cream/liquid lip and cheek stains work best because they stain the cheeks and lips so they won’t fade away of rub off when in contact with sweat/water.

  • Tarte Cheekstain
  • Benefit Cheek and Lip Tints
  • Josie Maran Magic Marker Cheek & Lip Stain
  • Makeup Forever Aqua Cream (blush and eyeshadow shades available)
  • Ulta Brand Cheek Stain (affordable)
  • Revlon Photoready Cream Blush
  • NYX Stick Blush
  • Maybelline Master Glaze Blush Stick

The Daily Face - Lipstick of the Week

Josie Maran Magic Marker Lip and Cheek Stain in Jive

Coral pink is an important shade to have in your lipstick collection. Here, I’ve used it to add a little pop of color to a daytime outfit. While some pinks and reds can be too bold to wear with an otherwise makeup-less face, coral looks great without a stick of any other makeup. (Except mascara, of course which I consider the only makeup “must.”) Corals can also add a little something extra to a sleek cat eye, as pictured here.

I really love these stains by Josie Maran. You apply them to clean lips, wait for the color to set, and then finish with a layer of chapstick. The color lasts all day and doesn’t move when you eat, drink, give your dog a million kisses, etc.

I decided to do something a bit different with this holiday makeup look when Sreejita gave me an entire pack of nail art decals a while ago. (I’m not a nail person, I just can’t be arsed.) I’ve been seeing this image floating around the interwebs for goodness knows how long now, so I thought I could do my own take on it. Here’s how I went about things:

I did my usual base with the Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream and the Make Up For Ever HD Microfinish Powder. I’ve grown to like a more natural looking finish than I used to, and I don’t like complicating my makeup routine with way too many products, so it’s BB Cream all the way for me! I personally prefer the Sleek BB Cream with regard to texture, but the Smashbox one is closer to my winter skin tone, so it’s what I’m using at the moment.

Then I lined my upper lids with the Maybelline Gel Liner (eyeliner of choice for 2 years now!) followed it with MAC’s Superslick Liquid Liner in Pure Show on my lower lids, and did my upper lash line with Rimmel’s ScandalEyes Mascara. I brushed my eyebrows into shape with a brow brush and followed it a swipe of Maybelline’s Brow Drama Mascara. I love using a mix of drugstore and pricier makeup, and Rimmel and Maybelline are my most favourite cheap+excellent brands.

Now, I wanted to get hold of some eyelash glue to stick the little stars on with, but it was impossible to get hold of at short notice, so I went with some good old Boroline. Boroline - the pride and joy of all Bangalis - is an intensely sticky borax and lanolin based cream that’s used to treat everything from chapped lips and cracked heels to minor cuts and burns. In its absence, you can use Vaseline just as effectively to stick similarly sized decals to your face. This Etsy store has a huge variety of holographic stars, hearts and glitter by the way, if you’re looking to recreate this look! I used an old lip brush to dab the Boroline in tiny bits onto my cheek, and applied the stars one by one with my index finger.

I finished the look with understated, stained lips, using a mix of the Sephora Cream Lip Stain in Always Red and the Josie Maran Lip and Cheek Creamy Oil that I’ve posted about before. My ASOS velvet spot dress (which I’m yet to style properly on the blog eep!) and star hairclips by Flimsymoon went really well with it, I thought. This wasn’t a hard look to do at all, and I hope it can serve as inspiration to go out of your comfort zone with makeup once in a while! After all, this is coming from someone who was terrified of makeup not so long ago, and I wish I’d discovered the fun of it way earlier! So happy experimenting, and happy holidays everyone!

Treat Yo Self: Spending 50 Bucks At Sephora

So you want to drop some hard-earned cash at Sephora? It’s easy to go overboard and suddenly find yourself hitting the triple digits even though you feel like you bought three things and they are in a tiny bag. To me, around 50 bucks (not including tax I don’t know where you LIVE) is the “listen, Imma go all out and treat myself a bit” range without being explosively insane. Feel free to pick and choose to fit your budget, though. Below, I give you a starter guide to some of the best bangs for your buck, depending on the kind of shit you are looking for. May it help you in the darkest (or most florescent, lighting-wise) of places.

For a Natural Look:
1. Benefit Gimme Brow! (22.00)
2. Sephora Color Reveal Lip Balm (13.00)
Sephora’s Color Reveal Lip Balm is a dupe for Dior Glow, and basically it’s a balm that enhances your natural lip color to create a subtle, rosy look. It’s very, very pretty–surprisingly so. This is one of my favorite products when I want to look like me, but with prettier non-food-stained lips. This plus strong, natural brows is an easy way to get a simple, pretty look.

For Acne Prone Skin
1. First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser (20.00)
2. NARS Creamy Concealer (29.00)
FAB is the best shit. It really takes care of sensitive skin and gets rid of stubborn little breakouts. This stuff cleared me up relatively fast, and NARS is hands-down my favorite concealer. It’s creamy, comes in a bajillion tones to fit any skin color, and covers up volcanoes, red marks, and things I’ve unfortunately popped and made bloody and worse.

For Dry Skin
1. First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream (12.00)
2. Clinique Moisture Surge CC Cream (35.00)
Like I said, FAB= the best shit. This stuff is creamier than gosh darn cream cheese frosting and gets rid of patchy weirdness almost immediately. That layered underneath some moisturizing cc cream–this one by Clinique adds a little bit of glow, coverage AND hydration..and you’re good to go. Although honestly I think makeup companies throw the word “glow” around a, nobody’s GLOWING calm down.

Beginner Collection
1. Naked Basics Palette (28.00)
2. Too Faced Beauty Blogger Darling (20.00)
For somebody looking to try out new makeup AND cult favorites they see on Youtube and shit, this combo is great. The Naked Basics palette has great matte, neutral colors if you’re learning to do a smoky eye, a brow highlight, or a natural day look. The Too Faced kit is filled with stuff some are too afraid to dive into full-sized–like primers and bronzer, which are definitely not for everyone–and a great mascara.

Glam Night
1. Benefit They’re Real! Mascara (23.00)
2. Sephora Cream Lip Stain (13.00)
3. Boscia Blotting Linens (5.00)
In my book, great fake-looking lashes are the easiest way to go from a day-to-night-out-oh-god-i’d-rather-stay-home look. This one is my favorite Sephora Mascara. Although I do believe buying drugstore is preferred, it’s nice to have a glam one lying around. Okay. So, when I want to look sexy at night, that means not melting my makeup away in sweat. So–blotting linens to get the oily gin-and-tonic sweat out discreetly in a bar bathroom, and Sephora Lip Stain it is. Baby doll, I talk about this lip stain all the time because A GRENADE COULD NOT GET THIS OFF. It’s pigmented, beautiful, and non-drying. Buy the red and thank me later.

Spring Trends Look
1. Marc Jacobs Daisy Rollerball (22.00)
2. Josie Maran Coconut Watercolor Cheek Gelee (22.00)
3. Sephora Nano Eye Pencil (5.00)
Marc Jacobs Rollerball is a jumping into the daisies, spring-ass flower explosion, but any floral-y “oh god, it’s getting warmer” rollerball will do. I also added Josie Maran’s beautifully light and fresh pigmented cheek jelly thing because it adds a light flush to your cheeks and isn’t so heavy because baby, your body is just remembering how to sweat again. Top off with some eyeliner on the bottom lash line in white or blue for some trendy “I saw this in a magazine” realness.

Fierce Bitch
1. Clinique Almost Lipstick in Black Honey (15.00)
2. Formula X Nail Lacquer (12.50)
3. Kat Von D Tattoo Liner (18.00)
Saved my favorite for last, obviously. If you want to look like you might kill a man, this is the trio for you. The Black Honey Almost Lipstick is a translucent berry-black, and looks great on all skin-tones. It adds a darkness, almost…bloody wine Malefecint…look to your lips, and also doubles as a scary-good rust look for your eyelids. That plus some Formula X in their insanely great pigments–grainy blacks, holographic golds, blood reds–would almost complete the look..but oh no! Add a huge, sweeping cat-eye with Kat Von D’s tattoo liner, which is beloved by many evil and beautiful women for a reason. Then, put on some ripped tights and break some hearts, ladies.

05. Josie Maran Argan Infinity Lip and Cheek Creamy Oil at Sephora. This is my new favourite lipstain for three reasons: it’s incredibly moisturising, tastes delicious, and gives my lips that rosy, berry stained look. A perfect gift for the beauty enthusiast!
