5th Anniversary of Haitian Earthquake

In January 2010, a 7.0 earthquake struck 25 kilometers away from Haiti’s capital city, Port-au-Prince, killing well over 100,000 and leaving hundreds of thousands more homeless. Six of our Reportage photographers traveled to Haiti immediately following the quake to cover the many heart-rending aspects of its aftermath. As the anniversary has approached, there has been ample media coverage of the country’s incomplete recovery; revisiting these photographers’ images, it’s possible to see why, despite years of effort and foreign aid, Haiti has struggled to rebound.
