Jon fell to his knees. He found the dagger’s hilt and wrenched it free. In the cold night air the wound was smoking. “Ghost,” he whispered. Pain washed over him. Stick them with the pointy end.

When the third dagger took him between the shoulder blades, he gave a grunt and fell face-first into the snow. He never felt the fourth knife. Only the cold …

The key six: their new identities.

For me all the main 6 characters: (Tyrion,Sansa,Daenerys,Jon,Arya,Bran)
go through a change in their personality. In different circumstances, of course.

I would separate them in three groups: Tyrion and Sansa (both create an alias, a bastard, so they cannot be found by Cersei, and they learn from it, they use their wits to create that personality), but they never forget their old selves (and I believe, both will refuse this “lie“ in the future of the story).

Tyrion took a mordant pleasure in inventing the details of the colorful life of Hugor Hill, also known as Yollo, a bastard out of Lannisport. The best lies are seasoned with a bit of truth. The dwarf knew he sounded like a westerman, and a highborn westerman at that, so Hugor must needs be some lordling’s by-blow. Born in Lannisport because he knew that city better than Oldtown or King’s Landing, and cities were where most dwarfs ended up, even those whelped by Goodwife Bumpkin in the turnip patch.”- Tyrion ADWD

Music soothes him,“ she corrected, "the high harp especially. It’s singing he can’t abide, since Marillion killed his mother.” Alayne had told the lie so many times that she remembered it that way more oft than not; the other seemed no more than a bad dream that sometimes troubled her sleep. “Lord Nestor will have no singers at the feast, only flutes and fiddles for the dancing.” What would she do when the music began to play? It was a vexing question, to which her heart and head gave different answers. Sansa loved to dance, but Alayne . . - (Alayne/Sansa)  TWOW.

Then there are Jon and Dany both messiah figures, both literally die and becoming  stronger version of themselves:

“Viserys was Mad Aerys’s son, just so. DaenerysDaenerys is quite different.” He popped a roasted lark into his mouth and crunched it noisily, bones and all. “The frightened child who sheltered in my manse died on the Dothraki sea, and was reborn in blood and fire.” - Tyrion in ADWD

“Kill the boy and let the man be born.” The old man felt Jon’s face. “You are half the age that Egg was, and your own burden is a crueler one, I fear. You will have little joy of your command, but I think you have the strength in you to do the things that must be done. Kill the boy, Jon Snow. Winter is almost upon us. Kill the boy and let the man be born.” - Jon ADWD

There are then Bran and Arya whose alteregos are connected with gods (the old gods and the  Many-Faced God  respectively), both are like a “weapon” being trained by the tree eyed raven and the faceless men for a scope (also both i believe will reject this notion and return to their Stark identity)

I should not be dreaming wolf dreams, the girl told herself. I am a cat now, not a wolf. I am Cat of the Canals. The wolf dreams belonged to Arya of House Stark. Try as she might, though, she could not rid herself of Arya. It made no difference whether she slept beneath the temple or in the little room beneath the eaves with Brusco’s daughters, the wolf dreams still haunted her by night … -Arya AFFC

Leaf touched his hand. “The trees will teach you. The trees remember.” He raised a hand, and the other singers began to move about the cavern, extinguishing the torches one by one. The darkness thickened and crept toward them.“Close your eyes,” said the three-eyed crow. “Slip your skin, as you do when you join with Summer. But this time, go into the roots instead. Follow them up through the earth, to the trees upon the hill, and tell me what you see."Bran closed his eyes and slipped free of his skin. Into the roots, he thought. Into the weirwood. Become the tree. For an instant he could see the cavern in its black mantle, could hear the river rushing by below. . - Bran ADWD

I don’t see enough appreciation posts for Eddard Stark so here are some bullet points on why Eddard Stark was the best character on Game of Thrones:

  • Went to war to avenge his family, rescue his sister and stick with his bestie.
  • Could have had the Iron Throne but chose not to because it would backstab Robert.
  • Protested against the killing of Elia, Rhaenys and Aegon very loudly.
  • Respected the fuck out of people who deserved it even though they were his enemies at the time, e.g Arthur Dayne.
  • Adopted his Targaryen-born nephew as his own, even though it could have got him executed for treason if anyone found out the truth.
  • Apparently never bore any ill thoughts about his sister, despite all the shit that she caused which he may have not known the reasons for and had eighteen years to speculate.
  • Pretended right up till his death that he stepped out on his wife and ruined his honour just to keep said nephew safe.
  • Never once broke his promise to Lyanna for the eighteen years he kept it, didn’t even tell his wife or the nephew himself.
  • Never used his nephew for leverage.
  • Raised a hella sexy great son called Jon Snow, despite the circumstances, who’s probably going to save the world.
  • Raised five other amazing kids. All round great dad.
  • Utterly faithful in marriage, though it seems that hardly anyone else in Westeros is. All round great husband.
  • Stayed friends with Robert, even though the show portrays Robert as not being too amicable at times. All round great friend.
  • Turned out a good Warden of the North, though he was never meant to inherit the title or Winterfell.
  • Genuinely supported the Night’s Watch, you know, the guys that are defending the realm from wildlings, giants, the Others and who the fuck knows else.
  • “The man who passes the sentence must swing the sword.”
  • Let his daughter learn to sword-fight when it was 100% not the done thing. That way saves Arya’s life several times over.
  • Didn’t trust the Lannisters right from the start and turned out to be hella right about that.
  • Was one of the only people to try and expose the truth about Jon Arryn and the Lannisters.
  • Wouldn’t let Robert assassinate Daenerys, even though she was his enemy and he could have ruined his friendship and lost his job.
  • Gave Cersei and the kids a chance to run away.
  • Was willing to admit to high treason and possible execution just to keep Sansa and Arya safe.

Feel free to add, ya’ll.

GoT Imagine: Protector

Imagine Jon finding you asleep while huddled with Ghost

Jon had lost sight of Ghost some time in the afternoon and couldn’t find him, wandering all around and asking people if anybody’s seen him. Jon eventually finds Ghost in the Godswood, along with you. You were curled up into a ball, using the direwolf’s body as a pillow with his tail acting as a blanket, draped over your slumbering form. Ghost’s ears perk up at the sound of approaching footsteps, lifting his head to see who it was and snarling protectively but relaxed upon being greeted by his master. Jon’s lips twitch into an amused smile at the sight, going down on his knees and moving to scratch behind Ghost’s ears.

“Thanks boy, for taking care of her. I can take over now.”

Little Snow’s lullaby from papa:

Close your eyes,
Have no fear,
The monster’s gone,
He’s on the run
And your daddy’s here,

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful,
Beautiful boy,

Before you go to sleep,
Say a little prayer,
Every day
In every way,
It’s getting better and better,

Got this finished in three hours and it’s now 10 pm! I’m so tired now. This was fun but frustrating. Lyrics from John Lennon’s Beautiful Boy (Darling Boy), I think this song’d fit perfectly.
