Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” (John 8:31-32 NKJV)
If we will be Jesus’ disciples, we must abide in His word. There is no other way. To be a follower of Jesus - the Word made flesh - is to abide (to live in, to dwell in, to make your home in) His word.
When we abide in His word, and are His disciples, then we shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. The freedom Jesus talks about doesn’t come from just an academic pursuit of “truth” in general; but from abiding in His word and being His disciple. ~David Guzik
There is not a single Bible portion that God wants us to study just to get a cranium full of knowledge or learning. The Bible always presents the truth and then makes the application: ‘Now, if this is true, you ought to do something about it!’
Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. - John 8: 31,32
Christ taught the truth because He was the truth. His own thought, His character, His life - experience, were embodied in His teaching. So with His servants: those who would teach the word are to make it their own by a personal experience. - COL 43.1
I will never stop posting about what’s right in the eyes of God just because I might lose followers. It’s preposterous to even imagine that a true Christian would care more about their followers in a social site than speaking the truth about God’s Word. I try to open the eyes of people to the truth of God’s Word and I will keep doing so until the day I am gathered by my God, the God of Israel, and join Him in His Kingdom.
This Tumblr is an extension of myself and since I’m a follower of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, God’s only son, that means my Tumblr is just as much of a Christian as I am. I will never bow down to any other god besides my God. Popularity, peer-pressure, luxury, none of that matters to me one bit. My eyes are focused on the end game, which is Heaven. How can you say you want to spend eternity in Heaven if you aren’t even willing to spend your time worshipping Him on your limited existence here on Earth? If you are going to follow me, you have to be ready to be hit by the truth because the truth sets you free. As Jesus tells us in John 8:31-32 “Jesus said to the people who believed in him, “You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings. And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
Every now and then I lose some followers because of my stand against abortion, homosexuality, idolatry, false religions, foul language, drunkenness, and all other sins which the Lord detests, and it’s a shame people can’t cope with the truth and choose to unfollow me but I’m not losing any sleep over it. My views are what God tells us in the Bible and His views are perfect and sinless, unlike our views which are easily corrupted by sin. I’m not in the business of getting personal followers, I’m in the business of getting faithful followers for Christ. All I can do is hope that one day the peoples of the world will decide to get closer to God and accept His Word and His views on how things are supposed to be rather than to settle for what society and the Devil hopes for the world to be.
As we are told in Isaiah 7 ”If you do not stand firm in your faith, then you will not stand at all.“ You can either be loved by the world and end up in Hell, or have the world hate you due to your faithful love towards God, but you gotta look at the bigger picture, even though the world will hate you for your beliefs in Christ you will get to go to Heaven for your faithful service. Stand firm with God, never compromise. To live in a life where you have to compromise what is taught in His Word is to not wanting to faithfully serve God. If you can’t faithfully serve Him while on Earth, how can you expect to faithfully serve Him for all eternity in Heaven?
I used to have hundreds of people on my ignore list here on Tumblr, people that run porn blogs, homosexual blogs, Muslim blogs, blogs dedicated to say that the Bible is "evil”, blogs that make fun of Christ, people that had sent hate and rude mail to me, and all sorts of other blogs ran by lost souls, but I removed them all from my ignore recently, after all Jesus tell us in Matthew 5 “If you are kind only to your friends, how are you different from anyone else?” I now know the reason of my existence here on Earth, which is to spread God’s Word and maybe one day those lost souls will realize how far they’ve gone astray from the Lord and will seek Him out and be saved. I struggled with this, after all these lost souls go believe in everything that goes against what God teaches us, but the truth is that those people are blind to God’s truth and if I ignore them how can God use me to spread His Word? If I can be the spark that makes them realize just how lost they are, I’ll gladly let the Lord use me for that purpose. How are we supposed to follow Jesus’ example and be a light in such a dark world if we close the door on other people that are lost in the darkness? Remember what Paul wrote in Philippians 2:14-15: “Do everything without complaining and arguing, so that no one can criticize you. Live clean, innocent lives as children of God, shining like bright lights in a world full of crooked and perverse people." So please, become the beacon of light that will steer our lost brothers and sisters in their moment of darkness back to the light.
A well-known British preacher from over a century ago, Charles H. Spurgeon, once said that "Every Christian is either a missionary or an imposter.” We are representatives of Christ in this world. I’m not saying that we should all become missionaries in the sense of going out to Asia or Africa or some far away countries - although if that’s your calling *high five* - but I mean in the sense of spreading God’s Word to our friends, random people on the internet, our neighbors and anyone we can. My love for Christ compels me to spread His Word to everyone. I want people to be saved. Has my strong attitude towards worship of God and my faithfulness to the Gospel caused me to lose some friends? Yes, it has, but I rather lose a friend and hope to have sown the seed in that person’s life which will lead them to Christ because I was honest with them rather than pretend to be a lukewarm Christian that’s okay with the practices of the world and lie to anyone about important issues regarding the Bible. I want people to experience God’s grace. So I’ll keep on preaching the truth as the Bible tells us until I’m not on this Earth anymore.
Also, please, never trade your Bible reading time to socialize on the internet. Hitting the like/reblog buttons won’t save you, only Christ will. Get close to God and build a personal and close relationship with the Lord. Never let Tumblr, Facebook or whatever other site on the internet draw you away from the Lord. Reading the Bible is the best way to get closer to the Lord.
I will always speak the truth about His Word, whether it might upset people or not. I will never be ashamed of God’s Word.
Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes—the Jew first and also the Gentile.
Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.
- Pr. 31:30
I post this late at night on #WomanCrushWednesday because I know that even though it may seem like a silly little social media trend, these little things can start to creep into the way we see ourselves.
Society has put so much pressure on women to look good in the eyes of human beings that we end up spending so little time on what God is doing in our hearts, which is FAR more valuable. We end up thinking that we’re somehow the sum of what people think when they see our hair, our clothes, our height, our weight–none of these things make us who we are. Yes, there are people out there who are materialistic and only see outer appearance, but God made those people, too and there is still hope for them. So don’t be discouraged by:
1. What #WCW is posted on the guy that you like’s page
2. The kind of girls that are considered attractive at your school or in your community
3. A reality TV culture that often promotes plastic surgery as an improved form of beauty
4. The guy that doesn’t like you, or the guy that won’t respond to your texts/messages/calls
5. The people around you who you feel are better looking or more well dressed than you
Instead, be encouraged that in this very moment, you have the opportunity to work on your heart. You have the opportunity
1. To pray and worship in your downtime at home, work, or school
2. To read God’s word and get closer to Him.
3. To pour into people’s lives like it’s the last day of your life.
4. To be available for God’s work in your community and in your church
5. To radiate the light of Jesus so brightly from within that when you walk into the room people immediately know that there is something different about you
No more waiting around for a guy to think you’re pretty/hot/cute/sexy–you are beautiful, because God made you, and now is the time to operate in that beautiful light that He has put in you through Jesus Christ, and wait for God to send your future husband who is shining the same kind of light!

When we read Bible verses, sometimes it’s hard for us to make it personal. Why don’t we? We should. Our God is a personal God. Read these well-known verses and insert your name wherever it says (_____) and think about how much more personal it is… because that’s how God wants you to feel: close and connected to Him.
“For God so loved (_____) that He gave His only begotten Son, that if (_____) believes in Him, they should not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, (_____), says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.” (Jeremiah 29:11)
“What then shall we say to these things? If God is for (_____), who can be against (_____)? (Romans 8:31)
Do you get it? His word is for YOU. To speak to you in a personal way. You are loved. Do not forget how personal your God is. He knows everything about you and loves you. Trust Him.
To the Jews who had believed him Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
In John 8, we see that many Jews that didn’t believe Jesus was The Messiah. They were tired of Him saying that He came from God. That couldn’t wrap their minds around it because they didn’t want to. They were so stuck in their old ways so much that even when truth was right in front of them, they refused to believe.
Sometimes we get like that. We don’t want hear or accept truth because we’re afraid it will hurt us or challenge what we believe. But that’s where grace comes in. In today’s verse, Jesus is addressing the Jews that DID believe. He was gracious enough to not just do away with the whole group. He invited all to believe and the ones that did were set free.
Be one of the ones who gets set free. Don’t be like the ones that wanted to disprove Truth at every opportunity. When it comes to what you believe about yourself, your future, and your hearts desires, let it ALL be wrapped in the truth that Jesus wants to set you free so when you set out on any journey, you are 100% prepared because He is EVERYTHING you need!
This is important is because:
1. When things don’t work out, you’ll remember Truth
You’ll remember when that guy you thought was pursuing actually wasn’t, that doesn’t all of a sudden mean you’re no longer worthy of an intentional godly relationship. You’ll remember when that job doesn’t work out or when you have to take a semester off, it doesn’t mean you’re worth less. You’ll remember that because of Jesus you are free and that’s what prepares you for every step.
2. When naysayers come about, you’ll remember Truth
You won’t be swayed by the those who only speak negatively toward you. You won’t be discouraged by the odds stacking up against you because you remember Jesus has given you direct access to the One who has access to the truth about you AND your future. So let Jesus set you free for He is the one who is going to prepare you to be exactly where you need to be.
