You were awake long before Joe was. Worried that Joe may wake up with no recollection of the night before, you had him sleep in your bed while you stayed on the couch. Sure, it had you tossing and turning all night, but you thought that was better than waking up to Joe’s confused and hungover face.
As soon as the sun started to peek through your windows, you were out of bed. You made yourself a cup of coffee and walked out to your porch, dragging a blanket out with you. You sat on your patio couch, tucking your feet underneath you and pulling the blanket over your lap. You were dressed in shorts and a jumper, and with a blanket covering your legs, you were quite comfortable in the brisk March air.
While your body was comfortable, your mind was going mad. Would Joe remember anything when he woke up? Was he drunkenly rambling the night before, or did he really feel the way he expressed? Did you want him to remember? What would happen if he did remember? You weren’t sure you wanted any of those questions to be answered.
Of course though, they had to be. Joe had woken up and was now sitting beside you, a coffee cup in his own hands. “I helped myself,” he mumbled. “Hope you don’t mind.”
“It’s okay,” you said. “Did you find the Advil?”
“Same drawer as always,” he said back. You nodded, staring back off into the skyline. The sun was still rising. “I’m sorry I called you,” he said, breaking the silence between you. “That was wrong.”
“You were drunk,” you said. “I understand.” You paused, taking a sip of your coffee. Joe did so as well. “Do you remember what happened?” you asked quietly.
“Some of it,” he mumbled, his lips still close to his mug. He took another sip. “Enough to know that we should talk about some stuff.”
You stared down at your coffee cup, your heart beating too fast for your liking. “I don’t know what there is to talk about,” you lied blatantly.
“Can you just,” Joe sighed. “For a few minutes, can you just knock your walls down, just long enough for us to talk?” You sighed, still avoiding eye contact completely with Joe. “You said you still love me,” he said gently. You finally willed yourself to look at him to see that his blue eyes were already staring at you.
You snorted, “That much you remember.”
“(Y/N),” Joe sighed. “Please.”
“I don’t know what you want me to say,” you mumbled.
“Tell me that I heard you right,” he was almost begging now. “Tell me that you still love me.” You sighed, looking down at your mug again.
“Yeah, I still love you,” you said quietly, thinking back to your phone conversation with him the night before. “You’re kind of hard to let go of.”
You still wouldn’t look up at Joe. You stared at the small amount of coffee still swirling at the bottom of your mug as if it was more interesting than the sun slowly rising in the sky. Suddenly, you felt Joe’s hand on top of yours, rubbing his thumb on your skin. It was as if you had gone back in time, remembering all of the moments you had sat with him on his balcony, talking about random things, counting the stars in the sky, fighting and then making up. And then the proposal where you handed him back the ring you couldn’t take and walked out of his life.
In that instant, you started crying. Tears were rolling down your cheeks and you were crying almost silently. You had walked away from the best thing that ever happened to you for what? Safety? Security? Assurance that he could never leave you if you left him first? “You know,” you finally said, sniffing whilst trying to control your tears, “my grandpa left my grandpa when I was 5. And my dad left my mom when I was 12. I just, the man has walked out of every marriage I’ve ever seen. I could be in a relationship with you because I convinced myself that we were safe as long as we never got married. Then, well then you proposed and all I could see was my 12 year old self sitting on the couch with my mom while she tried to explain to me what she meant by Dad’s not coming back. I felt like I was drowning in the outcomes of every marriage that I’ve ever seen fail. I didn’t want that to be us.”
Joe continued to just rub your arm with his thumb. He didn’t make any moves closer to you, not wanting to break down another wall when you didn’t yet want him to. “You could’ve talked to me,” he said quietly. “I thought you stopped loving me. It fucked me up so bad, (Y/N).”
“I know,” you said, covering your face with your hands. Your breath was shaky and you felt tears on your face again. The guilt you had been carrying was so heavy, the weight of it was finally crashing down on you. “I’m so sorry.”
“Hey, it’s alright,” Joe said quietly, pulling your hands away from your face. His eyes locked with yours and you instantly felt a sense of relief. His eyes always had a way of doing that to you. “You still breathing, yeah?” he said, his thumb resuming the gentle rub on your arm. “You’re alright. You’re alright.” You nodded, sniffing again to compose yourself.
“I’m just so sorry,” you repeated. “I can see it in your eyes that you’re tired. You look sickly, Joe.” And it was true. The bags under his eyes were horrendous and his skin looked pale. He looked even thinner than usual, like he hadn’t been eating properly in months. “Joe when was the last time you ate something?”
“I eat,” he said defensively.
“Like a meal, Joe,” you said.
“I don’t know,” he mumbled, brushing some hair out of his face. “This isn’t about me right now.”
“Joseph you’re not well!” you said sternly. “I don’t like this.” Your thumbs brushed across his face, under his eyes and to his temples. He immediately closed his eyes at your touch. “This is my fault, isn’t it?”
“I’m alright,” he said, his voice small.
“You’re lying,” you said. “I can hear it in your voice.”
Joe sighed, “I told you last night that I just, I don’t know how to be over you. I was bad and then I was okay and now I feel empty again. I’m trying so hard, (Y/N), you gotta know that.” He paused, forcing a smile on his face again, “You’re doing good though, yeah?”
“No, I’m not,” you said firmly, your words slightly shocking you. This was the first time you actually admitted this to yourself, let alone to Joe. “No, I’m not doing good. I let go of the one person who could put up with me because I was afraid. And now, well now I just feel sad all the time. I feel sad and alone and I want to call someone to tell them how I feel but the only person I can think to call is you. I love you. I love you so fucking much that it’s killing me right now to see you like this. If I could take all your pain and put it on my shoulders, I would. Because I’m the one who deserves it. I’m the one who hurt you so I should be suffering. I just want everything to go back to how it was because I have never been happier than during those three years when I was with you. So no Joe, I’m not good. I feel empty and I’m trying to fill myself back up but there’s a hole in my heart and it’s shaped a whole lot like you and I can’t fill that back up on my own.”
Joe pressed his lips against yours so quickly, you almost jumped. The feeling was so familiar, though, that you instantly relaxed and kissed him back. His hands were on your face and yours were around his neck, loving the way his hair felt against your finger tips again. You weren’t sure who pulled away from the kiss, but when you did, your foreheads stayed pressed up against each others. “I’m so in love with you,” Joe whispered. “And we don’t have to get married. Not right now. Not ever if you don’t want to.”
“I want to get married, Joe,” you said. “Maybe not right now, but I will marry you. I will. I really will.” Joe smiled and for the first time in a while, it actually made his eyes light up like they used to. With his lips centimeters away from yours, you could feel him smile again.
“Well, I’m glad I kept that ring then.”
And as the sun came up over the horizon, a new day began and the Earth got a fresh start. So did your relationship with Joe.
A/N: queueing this for when i’m taking some time off, enjoy loves xo
“Oi, oi! Here she is!” Mikey cheers as you walk around the corner and into the open plan apartment that your brother had moved into a few months previously.
You motion to the phone you were holding up to your ear and mouth a silent sorry before walking into the kitchen and flicking on the kettle, rolling your eyes to yourself as you patiently listen to your assistant ramble on about something she’d scheduled for you.
“You want me to list all the dates?”
With a tired sigh, you nod your head as if she wasn’t on the other side of London before rubbing your chin and nodding. “Yeah, sure. I’m putting you on speaker.” You quickly pull the phone away and place it on the counter, putting it on speaker and turning up your volume before turning around and continuing to make your drink as she cleared her throat and begin to read out the list.
As you stirred your coffee, Joe threw his controller onto his coffee table and stood up, kicking Oli’s legs out of the way before he walking into his kitchen and nudged you gently. You smile up at him slightly before turning your attention back to your phone and furrowing your brows at her words. “I don’t like the idea of the meeting being held on a Tuesday; it’s really inconvenient for most of my team. Could we get that changed?”
“I’m sure I can work something out.” She agrees speedily, eager to please. “I think that’s all I needed from you for now.”
“Thanks, love.” You smile politely, ending the phone call and immediately after yawning loudly, throwing your head back and running your hand through your hair. You take a small sip of your coffee before putting the mug in the sink and giving your brother a hug. “Sorry I’m late, the underground was absolutely jam packed and my uber driver didn’t know his hand from his ass.” You exhale loudly, and Joe simply rolls his eyes and pulls a beer out of his fridge as you lean back against the counter.
“Shut up, you’re literally five minutes late.” He snorts in amusement.
You shrug carelessly, turning on your heel and walking into the adjoined living room and smiling at all of the boys widely as you collapse onto Jack’s lap with a sleepy yawn. “Hey sluts.”
Multiple different responses were thrown her way, most halfhearted as they all continued to stare intently at Joe’s TV screen. You rolls you eyes and turn to look at Jack, kissing him softly as he hums and smiles at you. “How was your day?”
“Busy.” You frown, sitting up a little straighter in his lap and running your hand through his hair. “Did you manage to film?”
“Mhm. We played Cards Against Humanity, youtuber edition.” He grins, and you can’t help but laugh just imagining some of the questions and responses the boys would’ve come up with.
“Sounds dirty.” You smirk, and Mikey looks up from his phone and nods with a very Mikey like smile on his face. “Get up to anything else today?”
“Not really.” He shakes his head. Pulling you closer to his chest as Joe walks back into the area, tossing you the TV controller with a playful wink; knowing just how much you hated watching the football.
You fiddle with the controller for a second, not pressing any buttons and simply chewing on your bottom lip silently. You couldn’t stop thinking about everything that was going on at work, that alongside the fact that you’d had to cancel four meetings today after finding out that your visa had run out without you even realising.
Joe’s the first to realise how quiet you’re being, and maybe it was something to do with what Zoe had labeled your ‘weird twin senses’, but somehow he could just tell that you weren’t as constant as usual. “(Y/N), what’s going on?”
You look up from the controller in surprise and scrunch up your face in his direction as Jack frowns behind your head and tightens his hold on your waist. “Nothing’s wrong, I’m okay. Like I said earlier, I’ve just had a really busy day.”
Mikey looks at you. “Corr, you look exhausted (Y/N).”
“Thanks.” You smile at him sarcastically for a second before sighing and sinking back into Jack’s chest. “M'tired.”
He looks down at you, worry etched onto his features as he pushed some strands of your hair out of your face and traces the dark circles under your eyes that had become visible throughout the day as your makeup rubbed away. “Babe, when was the last time you got a proper night’s sleep? And don’t lie to me, because you know I can tell.”
You puff out your cheeks in thought for a moment before scrunching your face up into a yawn, causing the concern on each of the boys faces to grow. “I can’t remember, Jack. But I’m fine, okay? I knew what I was getting myself into when I started this business, and I can handle it.”
Your twin looks at you and nods. “We know how capable you are, (Y/N), don’t ever doubt that. But when you come home every night exhausted but still don’t give yourself time to relax and continue to work even when you’re supposed to be sleeping; that’s when we have a right to get worried.”
“He’s right, babe.” Jack adds, causing you to look up at him with a frown. “You work so hard every single day, and compared to you, we do shit all. That’s why I love when you come home at night, so I can look after you and show you how loved and appreciated you are after a really long day. But you don’t let me do that, because all you do is worry about work.”
You part your lips to come up with an excuse, something to make it sound like you were right, but as you think about it, it slowly starts to sink in that actually, they were right. But the truth was, you didn’t know how to turn your brain onto ‘home mode’, or at least, you’d never tried.
You think about it for a second, before you look up at them all and bite your lip hesitantly. “Maybe I could take the day off tomorrow, and we could all do something together? I’ll pay, of course, it’ll be like my treat for ignoring you all for the past few months.” You smile and stand up from Jack’s lap after kissing him quickly on the lips. Walking over to your brother, you sit down next to him and snuggle into his side. “You really think I’ve been pushing myself too hard?”
“Yeah.” He nods, as a matter of fact, and you exhale slowly before nodding in understanding. “Also, just curious, is there any way that you could get some time off soon and come back to Wiltshire to spend some time with Dad? He misses you.”
“That sounds really nice, actually.” You smile up at him, and he beams back down at you, pulling you into an obnoxiously tight hug that left you gasping for air.
The boys all laugh at your expense, and you look over at Jack and poke your tongue out at him, though you can’t help the loving glint in your eyes as you glance around the room at all of those boys who you loved and cared about so much and yet had been pushing away unwittingly for the last few months.

There were grey clouds in the sky that afternoon. You had never liked them, but the weather never was up to you and never would be, so you were dealing with it buying yourself a cappuccino after a long period in school.
It was your last year and fools were the ones who thought teachers were being nicer just because you were almost done with it. No, they were only making
the process more difficult. Thanks God you could go away soon.
Brighton was a good place to live, you were sure of it. You had really happy times in there, but all you knew was Brighton, this was the only city you ever lived in and now was the time to change things, turning into a new you (or some bullshit like that, you just couldn’t handle living in there).
“Let’s go, Y/N!” Y/F/N called, squeezing her boyfriend’s hand, poor Y/F/B/N. She was impatient because this was your second time getting coffee that week and, in the first, you almost got late for the first class.
“It is not my fault, Y/F/N.” you answered, a little annoyed. “You can go first. I’ll catch you guys later.”
This was all that Y/F/N wanted to hear.
“Fine.” she said, leading Y/F/B/N to the exit even before she finished saying that one word.
You rolled your eyes, toking your phone out of your pocket and checking your notifications. How nice was being abandoned by your friends and having only an electronic device as companion.
Your goal was going to London after graduating, you knew you would struggle, but you didn’t care. You wanted to feel independent and the only way to do that was abandoning your comfort zone for real. You would cry a lot probably with all the effort you would need to put through so you could support yourself, but it would all be fine.
“Y/N.” The coffee lady said.
There were two cups in front of you, but you didn’t saw the other one, grabbing the first that you saw. You needed to hurry if you really wanted to be abble to go with your friends, so you started walking as fast as you could without dropping the drink in your clothes.
Your right hand was already in the door when someone touched your shoulder.
You turned back, looking at the screen of your phone to try to send Y/F/N a message saying to her hold up a little.
“I guess this is my coffee you are with.” the voice said.
You looked up and you could feel your eyes widening a little.
You always thought that people on Youtube was only known if you were part of the Youtube community and even like that, there were a lot of people you couldn’t know about. Joe Sugg? Joe Sugg wasn’t one of those.
He laughed at your reaction and took the cup of your hand, you didn’t protested. Instead, of doing that, you blinked your eyes, trying to make sentences and then laughed of yourself.
“No, really, I didn’t see it was your coffee.”
“Yeah, you don’t seem to be a coffee’s thief.” he joked, holding another cup to give to you. “Here, this is yours.”
“Thank you.” you said. “And saying I don’t seem a thief it’s quite nice of you.” you commented and turned your cup to see if that was really your name in it.
“Hey, as long as I know, you can be a house’s thief.” I could be a heart’s thief “I just said you don’t steal other people’s coffee…” he tried to see the name that was written in your cup as you raise it. “Y/N.”
You took a sip of your drink.
“Yeah, hi. Nice to meet you.”
“Hi, I’m Joe.”
“I will pretend I didn’t know that so we can talk normally, is that ok?” you tried to make fun, you clearly knew who he was.
Joe laughed. “That’s ok, yeah.”.
Your phone started ringing “Sorry.” You looked at Joe with apologizing eyes. “Hello.”
“Y/N, where are you? We have a test in the first class of the afternoon in case you forgot.” Y/F/N didn’t even bothered of saying hello back. “We’re in school already, come fast.” she hung up before you could say something.
“Oh, fuck.” you cursed.
“Everything is ok?” Joe asked.
You forgot he was there.
“I gotta go, actually.”
Joe seemed a little disappointed, or this was what you liked to believe that time.
“Oh, ok. Cool.”
You smiled at him.
“It was really nice to met you, Joe.”
“Until a next time, Y/N.”
“Bye.” You nodded your head as you were waving a goodbye.
“Wait, I was wondering if…” you could give me your number, but you were gone.
“Y/N?” Y/F/N asked seeing you approaching your desk. “What happened? You are red.”
“You won’t believe what just happened.”
“I just met Joseph Sugg.” you told. “And I’m pretty sure he almost asked my number.
“Joe, honestly, your preference for coffee just can’t be that strong.”
“Shut up, Zo.”
“We drove all across the city for this damn coffee!” She complained, stopping by Joe’s side at the row.
“I know it.” he told, not really paying attention to his sister.
Zoe sighed. “Ok, spit it out.”
“The girl’s name.”
“What?!” he gave a nervous laugh.
“C’mon, Joe, I know it’s a girl.”
“Fine, fine…” Joe rolled his eyes. “Her name is Y/N.”
“Oh, that’s a good name!”
“Parking the car took me ages!” Alfie complained, catching up with the siblings. “So you guys already ordered?”
Zoe grinned. “Actually, Joe…”
“Zoe!” Joe complained. “You just need to tell everyone in the world, don’t you?” he asked.
Alfie laughed. “To Joe get this affected, we’re talking about girls, aren’t we?” It was always fun when the two of them started chattering about Joe’s crushes, he seemed like a little kid. If they were talking about Joe’s hook ups, thought, he didn’t seem nothing like a kid.
“Yeah!” Zoe agreed, bursting into laughs as her boyfriend.
Joe made a frown at the couple, they were really making fun of this?
“Oh, Joe! Buddy!” Alfie hugged his brother in law. “That’s ok, everybody can have a crush on someone.”
“Yeah, well, you crush my bloody sister!” Joe pointed out.
The trio were laughing when the door opened again and in the cafe entered one really special girl, being follow by her friend.
“Third time!” Y/F/N exclaimed. “Third fucking time this week, Y/N! For God’s sake, the week has only 5 days, how can you need that much coffee in your life?”
“Shut up, Y/F/N.” you ordered, looking around to see if you recognized the one you were looking for. From where he was, you couldn’t see him. “Come, let’s order our drinks.” you said, a little disappointed.
When Joe saw you, his face lit up. Yes! His completely stupid plain of trying to see you again worked out! He was a smart lad, wasn’t he? He smiled and walked to you.
“Hey, Y/N!” He greeted, playing cool. Zoe almost laughed out loud seeing her brother’s moves. He was trying to look chill and she knew he was putting all his effort in it because they literally just came across the city to that place.
You grinned, looking refreshed. “Joe!”
Y/F/N almost wanted to give you a slap, calm down, Y/N, damn! Don’t fangirl now, please. She looked at you with that warning look and you coughed a little, taking a deep breath afterwards.
“This is, Y/F/N.” You presented and your friend smiled politely to Joe.
“Hi, I’m Joe.” he said and Zoe thought it was about time to approach you guys. “And this is my sister, Zoe, and her boyfriend, Alfie.”
Oh, fuck. Joe were kidding with you, right? You weren’t such a youtuber fan, but really? You couldn’t handle that much.
You smiled at them and your friend did the same, trying your best to not freak out completely.
“Hi. I’m Y/N.”
“Hello!” Zoe said, she just wanted to jump around and make fun of Joe because he seemed a teenager again. “Nice to meet you!” You nodded.
“Hi!” Alfie shook your hand and Zoe followed his steps.
“Next!” The cafe’s lady shouted.
“Oh, this is us.” Y/F/N said, taking you by the hand and pulling you.
“Excuse me.” you asked, being sorry for such an abrupt reaction of Y/F/N. “Calm down, Y/F/N, please.” you whispered.
“Are you kidding me? The freakin Zoella is behind us! I just know her because of you and I am freaking out, how aren’t you?”
“I am, moron!” you whispered back. “But for what you love the most, don’t ruin it! This is like insane and stuff.”
“So what you girls are going to order?” The employee asked and you two smiled at her, remembering that you needed to actually have something to drink.
Y/F/N was gone to find you a table, you were so anxious about being in at the cafe that you actually got in there really early, so now there was no need to rush to school anymore. She leaved you behind because you were waiting your order.
“So, you are not from here, are you?” you asked Joe, Zoe and Alfie were ordering still.
“Oh, no, I’m from a small village on country side.” He answered and then gave a little smile. “I live in London now.”
“And why would you waste London to come to Brighton?” you looked through the window. “I mean, the weather is not beach vibes or anything…” you sighed, you wish that was. You loved sunny days.
Joe giggled, you seemed so disappointed about the season that he found really cute.
“My sister lives in here, I came to a meeting and now I’m crashing her place this week.” He told you.
“Oh, that’s nice.” You commented, pretending you didn’t know that Zoella lived in your city. Well, Adele did too… But Adele wasn’t buying coffee next to you, was she? Also, you didn’t know who was Adele’s brother, but you were pretty sure he wasn’t that gorgeous as Joe.
Your coffee was delivered, but you stood there and chatted more with Joe, he was really nice and his order wasn’t ready yet, so you could enjoy his company a little more before going in separate ways.
The place had heater and your coffee was really hot as well, so your body started sweating and you took off your coat, revealing your tattoo by your tank top.
“Oh, that’s cool.” Joe said, seeing the black ink on your shoulder.
You looked the way he was looking, sometimes you forgot you had a tattoo. It was there only, you weren’t reminded of it.
“Thanks.” You smiled.
What you didn’t know was that Joe was kind of relieved. The way you talked and the way you moved weren’t the same way as a student would do and, althought you were beautiful, you seemed a little younger than the girls Joe usually found attractive, seeing that you had a tattoo meant you were over 18 and everything was fine.
Well, except by the fact you weren’t 18 yet.
“So there I was, right? I’ve got no friends, no one to talk, my phone was in the bedroom and this huge man, like, he literally was 250 pounds, I swear. And he come and just started shouting things at me, saying I was rude and that kind of stuff.” You told, laughing already. “When actually, she” you pointed to Y/F/N “was the one who came to his wife and asked if she was pregnant.”
“Oh, no” Alfie commented, Joe closed his eyes.
“Guess what?” You continued. “She wasn’t.” All of them started to laugh. “The woman pointed at Y/F/N, but my friend here was gone by the time the man stood up for his wife. It was horrible, I swear.”
“She looked like she was pregnant! It wasn’t my fault!” Y/F/N told, trying to defend herself but failing because she was laughing so hard.
The cafe lady called Zoe’s name.
“Oh, that must be our order.” She said, receiving a look from Joe.
“Let me help you.” Alfie said, standing up and going to get their food.
“Could you help us too, Y/F/N?”
“Okay!” Y/F/N said, a little more excited than she should for just grabbing food, she could see what Zoe was doing there and was pretty happy in not standing in her way or yours.
Suddenly, was only you and Joe at the table. You tried to seem as you weren’t freaking out, so you took a sip from your coffee.
“So…” Joe started. “I guess you were about to tell me your number before ran away yesterday.”
You frowned. “I was? Are you sure?” You joked.
Joe laughed. “Yes, you were.” You raised your shoulders. “Where you went anyway? I mean, you was in a rush for getting in there.”
“I am a really busy girl, Joe.” you said ironically, not wanting to give him up yet by telling you were heading to school.
“And does a busy girl like you go on dates?” Joe asked.
You smiled. “I could see in my schedule if I have time for that, yeah.” Joe smiled at you too, not knowing what he was going to.
“Y/N/N, we gotta go.” Y/F/N said, you didn’t notice that she, Zoe and Alfie got the food and were in another table, you were talking to Joe and lost the track of the world.
“Again?” Joe asked, he seemed a little upset and you couldn’t avoid liking it.
“I’m sorry.” you told, with a smile on your face. “But you do have my phone now, so I’m a few buttons away.” you winked at him, something that no one saw coming. Fuck, you were flirting with Joe Sugg!
Joe laughed, he liked your move. “You are.”
You all said your goodbyes and you starting walking out from the cafe.
“Smooth.” Y/F/N approved.
“You’re so into him.” she laughed. “I can believe it. You actually have his number. He is not your celeb crush number 247 or something?”
“He might be on the top 10 at the moment.” you admitted and Y/F/N just couldn’t take you serious. You were a lucky girl, weren’t you. “I’m not stupid, though, I know it won’t take me anywhere.”
“Why?” she asked.
“Because I’m 8 years younger than him, maybe?” you suggested, being ironic again.
“I’m not saying to you to date him, I’m saying you can have some fun with an older guy just for a change.” she argued. “You don’t like boys at our school and it’s nice having someone to feed your ego.”
“You are with Y/F/B/N just to ‘feed your ego’ then?” you joked, making her laugh. Her idea wasn’t bad at all, you had to admit. Maybe you would do that.
Your phone rang, you received a message. Your eyes opened wide.
“No cells during class.” Your teacher told, looking at you quite angry.
“Sorry” you gave him a weak smile before searching the device in your backpack so you could leave it in silent mode. As you did it, you saw it was Joe sending you a message, something unusual of him, it was so early in the morning.
A couple weeks passed by since the exchange of numbers. You didn’t know how to react, but you were really enjoying your late chats and stuff like that, it would happen every day now and although you couldn’t admit it even to yourself, you started falling for him, something really really dangerous.
Good morning! was the content of his message. It immediately settled a smile on your face. You looked at your teacher to see if he was paying attention on what you were doing, he wasn’t anymore.
Why are you awake this early? you asked.
You turned your head to the board, seeing Math turn into the most boring thing in your whole existence. You missed the time school was easy and you could just forget about it some hours at the day.
Missing you is messing with my head. Joe sent and it made you roll your eyes, he loved to tease you like that.
Right. Now tell me the real reason. You could hear Joe’s laugh because of your answer.
Are you doubting it? you rolled your eyes again.
Yes was all you wrote.
Fine, fine… I have a meeting today. You kind of wished what he told about missing you was truth, but you were determined of being really grounded about this. Ask me where my meeting is, Y/N. he required.
Where your meet is, Joseph?
Brighton. he informed and your heart jumped and you needed to regain control. Fuck, Joe couldn’t just said that with you unprepared. Hum… Y/N? he asked when he realized you saw the message and didn’t answer it.
Well, this is a good excuse for you to don’t miss me that much, isn’t it? you joked, you started sweating waiting for his response.
We can meet and catch up to resolve this problem of mine, can’t we?
Are you asking me on a date? You joked. Be careful, Joseph, you won’t be able to keep up with me if you are…
You are the one who won’t be keeping up, Y/N. You couldn’t believe in it. It is a yes, then?
You took a deep breath, your panic starting showing up.
“Are you ok, Y/N?” Y/F/N asked.
You nodded your head. “No.”
“What happened?” she seemed worried, you just slid your phone to her desk. “Oh my God.” she commented as she read the messages. “You are going, right?” she confirmed, passing your cell back to you.
“I don’t know.”
“Oh, c’mon, Y/N! You can’t miss this opportunity.”
You agreed with that, but it wasn’t fair to Joe. He didn’t even knew that you were at school while he was texting you.
You took a deep breath again. It was about time he discover your age. You were letting go now.
The worst part about starting new projects, Joe had decided, was meeting the new team.
Simply because he hated the awkward phase of meeting people.
Who actually enjoyed that?
The small talk always felt forced, and the gaps of silence always hung around so heavily.
He really wished he could just totally avoid this part, and keep the same team from project to project.
But unfortunately, that was not how it worked. And so he dragged his feet into the Gleam offices to attend the initial meeting for his new project.
“Hello, Joe!” Dom greeted him with a warm smile, and Joe offered him a smile in return.
“The rest of the team is nearly gathered, just in the first boardroom.”
“I should be in there momentarily, and then we can get started. Feeling good about this one!”
He nodded as the older man turned to start talking to someone else in the Gleam office, and Joe made his way over to the boardroom, swallowing the nerves as he stepped foot through the door and felt a couple sets of eyes turn on to him.
Lowering his on eyes to the floor, he quickly walked over to a chair in the corner. He was hopeful that during this initial meeting, he wouldn’t have to talk too much. Except to say the usual Hello, I’m Joe spiel.
Pulling his phone out of his pocket, he decided to check through social media whilst waiting for the meeting to start. And the sooner it started, the sooner it would be done.
“Welcome! Hello! How are we today?” Dom announced as he waltzed into the room a few minutes later. “I’ll try to not keep you all too long, I’m sure you’re busy. And ready to get started on this project.”
Knowing it would be rude to be on his phone the entire time, Joe locked the screen and finally lifted his eyes to the rest of the room.
As Dom went through his normal talk, the same one he did at every meeting, Joe scanned the faces of the team he would be working with. They all seemed friendly enough, but none of them stuck out as someone he would become really close.
Another boring project, then. He thought to himself.
“Oops.” All eyes snapped to the new body that had just practically fallen through the door. It was a young woman, about his age, Joe thought. But her face was lowered as she tried looked down at the papers she had spilled everywhere. “Sorry. So sorry. My bad.”
Something about the voice intrigued Joe. Why did it sound so familiar?
“It’s no problem, dear.” Dom assured the new comer gently. “Glad you could make it.”
“I meant to be on time, but the trains…” She finally straightened herself, and Joe felt himself gasp as his eyes fell on her face.
“Ah yes, they can be a tricky thing. Everyone, please give a warm welcome to Y/N. She’s come on for this project with us.”
“Hello.” She smiled and waved, and Joe knew the moment she saw him. Because she had a similar reaction. Surprise.
“Just take a seat anywhere,” Dom told her, and Y/N snapped out of her shock to nod, slipping into the first available seat. “Now, where was I…”
Throughout the rest of the meeting, Joe couldn’t stop staring over at Y/N.
What were the chances? He didn’t even know she lived in London.
And when the hell had the awkward girl he used to call his best friend turn into a gorgeous woman?
Once the meeting finally came to an end, Joe dodged Dom, who clearly wanted to talk to him, and slipped through the people and back into the office, head darting back forth to find where Y/N went.
“Joe.” She was waiting for him, a few feet away from the room they had just exited. “Hi.”
“Holy shit,” He breathed, moving forward quickly to wrap his arms around her in a tight hug. “Hi.”
He knew there was people staring, wondering why he was hugging this brand new person, but Joe didn’t care.
There was a large smile on his face when they pulled apart, and his eyes studied Y/N’s face. She was still the same, just more grown up.
“It’s been years.” He said, and she nodded, letting out a small laugh.
“Of all the projects I got put on…”
“I know.” He shook his head. “It’s insane.”
“You know how I feel about fate.”
“It’s been years, Joe! Maybe you’ve changed.”
“Not really.” Joe shrugged, “But you have.”
“What are you on about?” Y/N blushed, “And have you looked at yourself? You’ve gone through some changes.”
“You look good.”
“So do you.”
“I just…you’re here. In front of me.” He shook his head again, “This is crazy. I can’t believe it.”
“Better believe it,” She winked, “Because you’re stuck with me for a while.”
“I’m not complaining.” He replied, smiling over at her.
“Neither am I.”
“Would you complain to going for coffee with me? To catch up?”
“Are you asking me on a date, Joe Sugg?” Y/N smirked over at him, her eyes shining.
“I mean, I did say I was going to marry you.”
“That you did. I’m still waiting on my ring.”
“How about we start with coffee?” Joe tried again, letting out a sigh of relief when she nodded.
“A coffee date sounds lovely.”
Perhaps meeting this team wasn’t the worst thing in the world.
omfg !! Maybe like, barry and you are in the coffee shop and he is so flustered to tell u he likes u but every time he is about to say it out loud, friends and others keep interrupting him, to say hi to you, ask how your are blah blah and he gets all sulky, and impatient, maybe the ending he accidentally shouts it out, idk lmao :P xx
This was so adorable omg. No Interruptions
Walking into Jitters your plan had been to grab your usual and sit in silence before heading to work, that was until you saw Barry settling into a booth all alone across the shop. After ordering your coffee you made your way to him, immediately scooting in next to him. “Morning stranger.” You stated simply, leaning your head in his shoulder. Barry smiled, huffing out a nervous laugh at your sudden closeness. Not that he minded, just caught off guard. “Hey, you. What’s my favorite lady doing here this early?” He asked softly, eyes never leaving your face. Sitting up you held your coffee up before bringing it to your lips. “Can’t start the day without caffeine.” You smiled softly as you took a large sip of your drink.
Barry nodded, his eyes still locked on you but with a glaze over them now, the usual bright green seeming more deep today somehow. “You okay, Barr?” Your question snapped him out of his trance, his eyes falling to the table now as he stuttered. “I uh, yeah I’m good, I’m great.” He smiled back at you briefly before something in him finally shifted. “Actually, uhm.. Y/N I need to get something off my chest, if that’s okay..?” His words came out slowly, almost forced. As he spoke your brows furrowed and you turned more to face him. “Of course, always. What’s up?” Placing your hand gently on his arm flustered him, and it made you giggle a bit right as you heard your names called from a few feet away.
HR made his way over, coffee in hand and dorky smile across his lips as always. Both of you smiled at him, Barry’s a bit more fake though. For a few minutes he rambled about this and that and everything else. Finally Barry shot him a pointed look and he took that as a shooing, bowing playfully before leaving your booth. “Back to.. what I was trying to say?” Barry’s voice came out soft and somewhat shy, and it caught your attention immediately. He searched your eyes as if the words he was looking for were in there somewhere, floating just past your pupils. “Is everything okay? Are you alright?” The worry in your voice warmed his heart, and he rested his hands over yours gently with a smile. “I’m fine, just.. been thinking a lot, about how close we are, and–”
“Hey, you guys!” From behind you Wally’s familiar voice echoed into your ears, cutting Barry off mid sentence. Turning you saw him make his way to you with Joe closely following. Clenching his jaw, the slender speedster held his lips in a tight line that barely resembled a smile, watching annoyedly as the pair sat down across from the two of you. “Everyone needs their morning coffee, right?” Joe joked, laughing a bit before noticing Barry’s expression and rigid body language. Wally of course was oblivious, beginning to ramble about how fun it had been to show that meta who’s boss last night. After a few more moments of staring Joe finally caught the hint that they were interrupting something, nudging Wally as he stood. “I just remembered I need to be at CCPD early, for uh, paperwork and stuff. Come on Wally.” He grabbed his son’s shirt sleeve and tugged it with an urgency that the boy didn’t understand, but still picked up on.
You offered a small wave as they left hastily, before turning back to Barry who was now relaxed and grinning at you. “Where even was I?” He asked coyly as he scratched his chin. A matching smile spread onto your lips as you set your coffee down. “About.. us?” You replied softly, the way your eyes met his making Barry a bit more nervous now. “Right, yeah about uh.. how close we are, how close I feel to you. I’m, uhm.” He paused, glancing down before back up to you. “Y/N, I’m –” Just as he opened his mouth to speak again, Cisco strolled up and playfully leaned against your table with his head resting on his palms. “Hellooooo, how are we–” “Ohh my God, no, not again, no more!” Barry shouted over his friend, making both of your eyes go wide in surprise. “Barry, what are–” Before you could finish you were sped off, away from Jitters and Central City all together. You found yourself just outside Star City, on the pier surrounded by nothing but the sounds of the water hitting the shore.
Turning back to Barry you furrowed your eyebrows. “What was that about?” You asked, voice coming off more hasty than you’d meant it to. The slender brunette simply huffed out an exasperated and annoyed sigh. “I’ve been trying to get this out all morning, and everyone kept butting it or stealing your attention and I just..” He paused, eyes landing on yours finally after he caught his breath. Without uttering another syllable he took two long strides to you and captured your face in his hands, and your lips against his own. The moment his hands touched your skin you melted, like all the electricity inside his veins shot through you and made every piece of your internal wiring just turn to mush. His lips felt like perfectly molded matches to yours, and you could feel the emotion he was pouring into it.
When he finally pulled away your eyes stayed closed for a few moments, bringing a familiar chuckle from him to your ears. “I’ve wanted to do that for weeks..” he whispered, leaning back in to kiss you again before your eyes ever opened. For a few minutes you two just stood there kissing, before you pulled back again to respond to him. “Barry, I–” Cut off again, this time by the loud whizzing of a zip line. Seconds later the Green Arrow stood before the two of you. Immediately you jumped back but Barry didn’t move a muscle, he only groaned and grimaced. “Enough interruptions! Oliver, we’re fine everyone is fine we’ve been doing great we miss you too we’ll get together soon, tell Felicity and John hi, buh-bye.” Barry sputtered out rapidly, clutching you to him and speeding off past the other man. Now you found yourself back in Central City, feet planted in your living room.
Barry had his arms tightly wrapped around your waist, forehead pressed to yours lovingly. “I want you to be mine.” He blurted, squeezing you a bit. A wide smile painted itself over your lips and you giggled, enveloping him in a tight hug with a happy sigh from the both of you. “I’m all yours, Barr. Always have been.” You muttered, causing him to pull back and stare down at you with bright, excited eyes. “You mean it? I get you all to myself, no more interruptions?” He nudged you playfully, the smirk on his lips bringing butterflies to your stomach. “No more interruptions.” You repeated back to him. Again his face lit up and he pressed his lips to yours once again, this time keeping them there throughout the rest of the evening. Which was spent together, uninterrupted. //
