I was worried about Jodphur since there are well over 1 million residents and I thought it would be overwhelming, but like with all big cities, you find your quiet spots. I loved stumbling upon this market by the clock tower. Colorful and less crazy. :)
Umaid Bhawan Palace (उम्मेद भवन) is one of the world’s largest private residences. A part of the palace is managed by Taj Hotels. Named after Maharaja Umaid Singh, grandfather of the present owners of the palace, this monument has 347 rooms and serves as the principal residence of the erstwhile Jodhpur royal family. Located on the outskirts of Jodhpur, the current building is divided into a hotel and a museum dedicated to the Jodhpur royal family.
Jodhpur is the second largest city in Rajasthan and is known as the Blue City due to all the houses around the main fort being painted blue. Jodhpur has countless baeutiful forts, temples and palaces, and is a great place to buy silver jewellery. Camel rides and desert tours are also popular in Jodhpur.
