“Anybody got a light?”

My first crack at the one and only golden couple, Tywin and Joanna Lannister!

This is after a night at the opera. Also if you can tell, Joanna’s supposedly wearing Tywin’s coat because it’s hella cold or something idk.

This is dedicated to the lovely joannalannister AKA Lauren. I made a promise to myself that I would do Tywin/Joanna because there is not enough of them.

So here yo go, have a Tywin/Joanna 40s AU!

Jaehaerys I, Good Queen Alysanne, and Septon Barth
Happy birthday, @goodqueenaly!

Decisive in thought and deed, Jaehaerys was wise beyond his years, always seeking the most peaceable ends. His queen, Alysanne, was also well loved throughout the realm, being both beautiful and high-spirited, as well as charming and keenly intelligent. […] For forty-six years, the Old King and Good Queen Alysanne were wed, and for the most part it was a happy marriage, with children and grandchildren aplenty. […] the Old King outlived his beloved queen, and in his last years it was said that the grief of their parting hung over his court like a pall.

Yet if Alysanne was Jaehaerys’s great love, his greatest friend was Septon Barth. No man of humble birth ever rose so high as the plainspoken but brilliant septon. He was the son of a common blacksmith and had been given to the Faith while young. But his brilliance made itself known, and in time he came to serve in the library at the Red Keep, tending the king’s books and records. There King Jaehaerys became acquainted with him, and soon named him Hand of the King.

Rickon cried as they crowned him. She held his hand after, whispering sweet words in his ear and thinking how much he looked like Robb. But Robb had never called her mother. “I am your sister,” she said firmly. “Sansa. Sansa Stark.” There would be no more ghosts in Winterfell. She would not allow it.

[Willas] is back on his feet the next day, the ache in his leg eased to a manageable (bearable) level, and it is with his mobility restored that he encourages Sansa to break her fast in the gardens with him.

She curls her arm through his and insists on carrying the basket out behind Aldwin, folding chairs balanced on his shoulder and matching table under his other arm. She still watches everything as they pass with those wide, astonished eyes, and he loves her innocence.

“I still don’t understand how we can make it more beautiful,” she confides once they’re settled in the arboretum, sunshine splintering through the thick veil of leaves above their heads. “Everything here is just so… I can’t see how we could improve it.”

Boys with your eyes and girls with your hair, he thinks idly before catching himself. He can only hope that he didn’t say that aloud. It strikes him though, after that, how very beautiful their children will be.

263 AC  ♛  “My father insists on attending.  Insists!” Taking the chair beside the king, Tywin leaned back with his boots stretched out in front of him and signaled for wine.

“I would not have thought him capable,” Aerys confessed, adjusting his crown as it threatened to topple.  Though he had worn it for nearly a year, the heavy circlet of red gold still did not rest easily upon his brow.

“Making a mockery of me and mine is my father’s sole talent. He would not miss my wedding for the world, or so he claims.”

Aerys voiced his sympathy.  “Does she know?”

“Not yet.” Tywin studied the women shaded by a silken canopy as they took their midday meal. One of them, at least. “My betrothed is already marshaling an army of porters, seamstresses, and confectioners. Had we had such numbers on the Stepstones, Maelys would have been defeated within a month. She will be crestfallen when she learns Tytos the Tame shall play the host.  At least he has finally tired of his milk cow. I suppose I should kneel and thank the gods we shall be spared her presence.” Tywin swirled his wine and took a deep draft.

“I could preside over the feast,” Aerys said quietly, not looking at his Hand.  “Tytos would give way before his king.”

Tywin’s surprise quickly turned to pleasure.  “Thank you, my friend.”  He returned his gaze to the queen’s companions.  “Joanna will not be disappointed.”

The World of Ice and Fire:

The False Spring of 281 AC lasted less than two turns. As the year drew to a close, winter returned to Westeros with a vengeance. On the last day of the year, snow began to fall upon King’s Landing, and a crust of ice formed atop the Blackwater Rush. The snowfall continued off and on for the best part of a fortnight, by which time the Blackwater was hard frozen, and icicles draped the roofs and gutters of every tower in the city.

As cold winds hammered the city, King Aerys II turned to his pyromancers, charging them to drive the winter off with their magics. Huge green fires burned along the walls of the Red Keep for a moon’s turn. Prince Rhaegar was not in the city to observe them, however. Nor could he be found in Dragonstone with Princess Elia and their young son, Aegon. With the coming of the new year, the crown prince had taken to the road with half a dozen of his closest friends and confidants, on a journey that would ultimately lead him back to the riverlands. Not ten leagues from Harrenhal, Rhaegar fell upon Lyanna Stark of Winterfell, and carried her off, lighting a fire that would consume his house and kin and all those he loved— and half the realm besides.

The rest of his father’s words were drowned out by a sudden clatter of wood on wood. Eddard Stark dissolved, like mist in a morning sun. Now two children danced across the godswood, hooting at one another as they dueled with broken branches. The girl was the older and taller of the two. Arya! Bran thought eagerly, as he watched her leap up onto a rock and cut at the boy. But that couldn’t be right. If the girl was Arya, the boy was Bran himself, and he had never worn his hair so long. And Arya never beat me playing swords, the way that girl is beating him. She slashed the boy across his thigh, so hard that his leg went out from under him and he fell into the pool and began to splash and shout. “You be quiet, stupid,” the girl said, tossing her own branch aside. “It’s just water. Do you want Old Nan to hear and run tell Father?” She knelt and pulled her brother from the pool, but before she got him out again, the two of them were gone.
