Joan Jett - Bad Reputation
(aka the true story of how Joan Jett told the major labels to go fuck themselves, in music video format)

After the Runaways broke up, Joan Jett was rejected by twenty-three record labels, who basically told her that at age 18, her musical career was over. They told her she couldn’t sing, that she was unmarketable, that nobody wanted to hear a woman sing this kind of music.

So she said fuck it, started her own label, and had a huge hit with her cover of the Arrows’ “I Love Rock and Roll.” Once she became the hottest thing going despite the odds, she made this video, giving the middle finger to the huge labels that had rejected her–and specifically listing them.
