a while back @entrenous88 wrote a super-indulgent prereform Spock/crash-landed Jim ficlet (Shan’hal’lak) because she knows how weak i am for prereform vulcans - i love it so much, it’s enough to sink my teeth into but still leave me wanting more. did a couple sketches inspired by it in the tiny!sketchbook I filled last month because i can’t stop thinking of spock carefully tending jim and murmuring to him in vulcan.
Twas the night before Jimmas, when all thro’ the house
Not a Jim was stirring, not even a Jim;
The Jims were hung by the Jimney with care,
In hopes that St. Jim soon would be there;
The Jims were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of sugar Jims danced in their Jim heads
And Mama Jim in her ‘kerchief, and Jim in my cap,
Had just settled our Jim brains for a long winter’s nap—
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
Jim sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window Jim flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters, and threw up the sash.
The moon on the breast of the new fallen snow,
Gave the luster of mid-day to objects below;
When, what to my wondering Jim eyes should appear,
But a miniature Jim, and eight tiny Jims,
With a little old driver, so lively and quick,
Jim knew in a moment it must be St. Jim.
More rapid than Jims his coursers they came,
And Jim whistled, and shouted, and call’d Jims by Jim name:
“Now! Jim, now! Jim, now! Jim and Jim,
"On! Jim, on! Jim, on! Jim and Jim;
"To the top of the porch! To the top of the wall!
"Now dash away! Dash away! Dash away all!”
As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
When Jims meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky;
So up to the house-top the coursers they flew,
With the sleigh full of Jims—and St. Jim too:
And then in a twinkling, Jim heard on the roof
The prancing and pawing of each little hoof.
As Jim drew in his Jim head, and was turning around,
Down the chimney St. Jim came with a bound:
Jim was dress’d all in fur, from his Jim head to his Jim foot,
And his Jim clothes were all tarnish’d with ashes and soot;
A bundle of Jims was flung on his Jim back,
And Jim look’d like a peddler just opening his pack:
His Jim eyes—how they twinkled! His Jim dimples: how merry,
His Jim cheeks were like roses, his Jim nose like a cherry;
His droll little Jim mouth was drawn up like a bow,
And the beard of his Jim chin was as white as the snow;
The stump of a pipe Jim held tight in his Jim teeth,
And the smoke it encircled his Jim head like a wreath.
Jim had a broad Jim face, and a little round Jim belly
That shook when Jim laugh’d, like a bowl full of jelly:
Jim was chubby and plump, a right jolly old Jim,
And Jim laugh’d when Jim saw Jim in spite of Jimself;
A wink of his Jim eye and a twist of his Jim head
Soon gave me to know Jim had nothing to dread.
Jim spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
And fill’d all the Jims; then turn’d with a jerk,
And laying his Jim finger aside of his Jim nose
And giving a nod, up the Jimney Jim rose.
Jim sprung to his Jim, to his Jim team gave a whistle,
And away Jims all flew, like the down of a thistle:
But Jim heard Jim exclaim, ere Jim drove out of sight—
i finally bought myself a bullet journal!! i’m super excited to use it n record all my thoughts n memories in a cute way :] i decided to go w/ a soft pink theme to match the book heh!!! look at jim hes so precious my tiny lil cotton puff angel:(
AU where Kanjigar dies nine years earlier and instead of getting picked up by Jim Lake the amulet gets picked up by harried single-mom-trying-to-get-her-kid(s)-to-school Barbara Lake.
Barbara Lake who has a fulltime job, one mysteriously missing (soon to be ex) husband, and less sleep than a medical student. Barbara Lake who’s just trying to keep seven year old Jim and Toby from accidentally killing themselves when they get left with Mrs. Domzalski. Barbara Lake who has no time for magic or destiny, but who gets stuck with it anyway. Barbara Lake who will fight for her child’s future, but who also swore a Hippocratic oath and is going to do her best to Do No Harm, right up until someone threatens her family.
Barbara Lake, Trollhunter extraordinaire and local ER doctor, running off of coffee and prayers. It turns out Trollmarket has some excellent babysitters.
Toby and Jim get clued in early and mostly sworn to secrecy, but they’re still way too willing to pick a fight for Jim’s mom. Jim is also a burgeoning master chef, who keeps experimenting with troll cuisine and nearly burning his face off trying to make dinner for everyone.
No one knows why little James is so determined to feed everyone, Barbara’s cooking is wonderful by Troll standards.
Barbara is a brilliant lady with a good grasp of anatomy once she gets her hands on some troll medical books, thanks Vendel! She’s definitely a pragmatist, willing to go for weak points and low blows, but she tries not to do permanent damage.
She and Blinky end up as nerdy BFFs remarkably quick, and he and Arrrgh adopt the kids.
The confrontation with Draal goes down much as in canon, except Draal is even more of a dumb teenager and Barbara is surprisingly sympathetic. She ends up taking him under her wing, and he’s the cool older brother Toby and Jim need. He knows how hard a Trollhunter parent is, and has lots of emotions about the fact that Barbara isn’t pushing her kid aside.
One of the things that does change from canon is that Strickler is principal of the elementary school- probably filling in as a favor to someone on the school board. He’s surprisingly good with kids, even if he does keep quoting classical literature to them. Also, he’s really popular with the PTA parents.
It takes he and Barbara even longer to figure out each other’s identities, and before they do they strike up a friendship over worrying about Jim’s nascent martyr tendencies. Post reveal there are lots of awkward parent-teacher meetings. Strickler has a not-so-tiny nemesis crush.
Jim adores Strickler, who takes him very seriously and treats him like a tiny adult. Barbara doesn’t tell the kids that Strickler is evil at first, to keep them from doing anything rash. It’s a legitimate concern, when Jim and Toby figure out they get suspended for trying to jump their principal in the teacher’s parking lot.
Claire is the most popular girl in the second grade, if something of a tomboy at seven. Jim and Toby are in awe of her, but they become friends fast after Strickler encourages them to talk. She’s also Barbara’s favorite patient who has racked up quite the broken bone count over the course of her childhood. She’s still settling into her more controlled grown self, but everyone agrees she’s going to be formidable when she’s older.
Claire’s dad is the head of the PTA, so the Nunezs get involved quickly. Claire sees her little brother get stolen by monsters mid-season and investigates on her own for a while before getting clued in and joining Team Lake.
Draal and Nomura’s relationship is much more current, and definitely had something to do with Kanjigar’s death. Draal has Issues. Barbara, who is all too aware how relationships can go wrong, just wants the kids to be happy. As an adult, she’s also more leery of the anti-changeling prejudice, and keeps trying to win Nomura and Strickler over to the side of good. She probably eventually suceeds.
The Trollmarket is still hesitant to accept a human Trollhunter, but they warm to Barbara in time. She’s a mother, just like Deya the Deliverer once was. Maybe she’ll finish Deya’s work.
Barbara is just trying to save the world, not get fired, keep all three kids now in her care alive, and finish filing her divorce papers. She triple brews her coffee these days.
Her co-workers are really concerned about her because she keeps coming in late with strange injuries. On the other hand, weird accidents in Arcadia Oaks are at an all time high, and they need every hand on deck they can get.
Warrior medic Barbara Lake, out of her armour and ready to start treating collateral injuries immediately. No wonder Strickler is smitten.
Whatever happens to James Lake is eventually relevant and there is so much drama.
Because I’ve been watching wayyy too much TOS and I’ve started noticing things

he’s constantly annoyed at Jim/anyone else when they try to bother his
patients because THEY NEED REST AND IT CAN WAIT TILL LATER JIM!
time he helped a cool alien lady give birth and told her that that it
was her baby and she deserved credit for it and he was just so earnest
and cared about her so much and it was really fucking sweet
fact that the cool alien lady wouldn’t let anyone but him touch her and
called him MACoy and named the baby after him, and Jim and Spock were so
confused but they went with it because of course this would happen with Bones

~The way he leans on Jim’s chair
~How he reverts to a heavy southern accent when weird shit hits
an amazing and beautiful person, and you’ve been a wonderful and
brilliant friend to me these past few months. I love you boo and
appreciate you more than you know. So what better gift for you than some
McKirk smut? It’s the gift that keeps on giving and giving, again and again. ;)

Leonard x Jim - M/M
“Bones, you know I hate celebrating my birthday.” Jim glared up, watching as Leonard loomed over him, grabbing something from behind him.
“That was before I came along, Jim. After I’m finished, you’re going to love your birthday. I promise.” Leonard spoke softly in Jim’s ear, suddenly tightening the strap that held Jim’s wrists.
First of all, huge respect for all of you artists who can and like to draw ships… it was such a hustle!!! But I wanted to make it as real as I could. I like the way it ended. :)
Ok, this movie is one of my favs… I love the universe backdrops and all the steampunk-ness! I really tried to think of a favorite moment where Captain Amelia or Jim where in, but I kept it true to my series, since this scene (Take Off) is my favorite! Hope you like it… PS: If you look closely, you will see lil´Jim :D (Hard to draw omg-so tiny)
