My journey begins today. Now. February 2nd, 2016. I bought a scale four days ago (on my birthday, not the smartest idea I’ve ever had) and the number put things into perspective. 259 pounds. Last summer I weighed 237. That’s 22 lbs in maybe six months. I need to change, big time.

So what am I doing to change, exactly? For one, I’m not eating out like I used to. One month ago I moved from a city of 330000 to a town of 12000 and the options are slimmer. That’s helped, but I’ve also been cooking more. That was a given before I weighed myself, as money was right from the move anyway. I’ve been cooking chicken breast, pastas, and the like. I’m not going to focus so much on not eating starchy food or minding calories to an extreme because my first goal is not to eat out.

I’ve also begun working out today. Day one, level one of Jillian Michaels’ 30 Day Shred. Damn, she’s intense. After nine minutes I dropped for a two minute break but I then finished it. I’ll be making weekly updates regarding my weight, and likely other fitness and food related posts.

Trying to maintain motivation has always been a road block in my weight loss endeavors, but this time I feel it. I need this. I’m 22 years old and 259lbs. I want to change, and I can’t lay around waiting for someone to do it for me.
