It’s so annoying when I see an article on Facebook about Jesus coming out and the first like 20 comments are “who cares” or “why does it matter?” It matters because representation matters. It matters because being able to be open about who you are and who you love is important. It matters because when Aaron and Eric kissed people lost their damn minds and threatened to boycott the show. People act like because they themselves aren’t homophobic or openly homophobic that an lgbt+ character shouldn’t be recognized and celebrated. Jesus is an important character who happens to be gay, his entire character doesn’t revolve around the fact that he likes the same gender and he isn’t reduced to the stereotypical feminine funny gay best friend, that’s why it’s important.
