Jennifer Lopez’s new Direction: Star hires Liam Payne to pen songs for her
LIAM PAYNE didn’t stay unemployed for long following ONE DIRECTION’s hiatus – he’s been hired to work on new music for none other than JENNIFER LOPEZ.
That’s right. Wolverhampton’s finest’s new boss is the original bootyshaker from the Bronx after the pair hit it off at a business meeting in LA.
Definitely a step up from being employed by the far from bootylicious SIMON COWELL.
Liam, who told us in an exclusive chat last year that he was looking to move into music publishing full-time, is ready to knuckle down over the next few months and pen some tracks for the American Idol judge’s chart comeback.
A source said: “Liam was asked round to meet Jennifer and they had a great chat about music and how they thought their styles could come together to create something she’d love. It went really well so he’s now going to work his hardest to write as many tracks as possible and present them to her.
“He’s determined to be the best possible songwriter he can be and is thrilled a music legend like J-Lo would want to work with him.”
Liam is so serious about his songwriting he has set up a company for all his solo projects called Hampton Music Limited.
He’s even talking to labels in the hope of signing an exclusive publishing deal with one, meaning they’d get first rights to all the music he creates.
But he’s not planning on following 1D bandmates ZAYN MALIK and HARRY STYLES example by releasing his own music any time soon.
Last week fans got a tad over- excited when he teased a new track on Instagram but we’ve been assured that Liam just made the tune for fun.
Our insider added: “Liam has been messing around writing songs in every genre — including even country and rap.
“He’s experimenting and having a great time being in the studio without the pressure of performing.”
As well as writing many of One Direction’s tracks and music for CHERYL FERNANDEZ-VERSINI’s last album Only Human, Liam has been hitting up his vast book of celeb contacts including LITTLE MIX for future employment.
But it will take something special to top working with Jenny From The Block herself.
Seeing as he’s now a fan of rapping, maybe he could become the new JA RULE and guest vocal on all J-Lo’s remixes.
“Let me tell you something about Gaga, she is such a sweetheart, she sent me flowers after that, just saying, ‘It was great hanging out with you.’ She’s a nice girl, she’s a New York girl like myself. She was overwhelmed with the fact she won, it was very well-deserved; it was gracious, there is a graciousness about her. I really like her, I really like what she stands for, kind of like coloring out the lines and being outside the box, being accepted. She’s a nice person and I’m really happy for her success.” - J.Lo talking about Lady Gaga
