jeff davis is not a gift

Shows like Sense8 and How To Get Away With Murder have pansexual orgies and guys rimming each other every other episode and Jeff Davis wants us to worship him because he created a show where where homophobia doesn’t exist, which is pretty easy to do when there aren’t any gay characters to begin with.

This season is great and all, but no matter what happens, I will never get over the fact that Jeff has wasted so much potential.

Just to go through a few examples:

He tossed Kira away, a useful and powerful sweetheart who’s story wasn’t over yet…

And gave us an evil piece of trash cannibal teacher who’s only good quality is his looks.

We lost Isaac…

And got Liam…. (I mean no hate against Liam but… seriously?)

The McCall pack is not what it used to be. We had all of these amazing characters…

Plus Allison…

And Derek…

And now three nearly useless freshmen have all of his unnecessary screentime which takes away from the screentime of the people who are actually relevant.

We had two pairings who developed enough for viewers to love…

And that was all snatched away within an episode, and in return, Jeff Davis gave the viewers, well… y’know.

And do not even get me started on the fact that Jeff baited at Scisaac an Sterek for so long…

And instead of getting Scisaac and Sterek, we got Morey. And like okay, they’re kinda cute or whatever, but that’s not what was built up on and that’s not even close to being what viewers wanted.

We asked for the Sheriff and Melissa who could’ve been together since the series fucking started…

And instead we got Claudia, like are you fucking kidding me? (And yes I lowkey ship Melissa and Chris but potential down the drain on the Sheriff and Melissa. They were the pairing that everyone wanted to see together. It’s the last season, why are they not a thing yet?)

I’ll end here, but point is, wasted potential, always. And that’s why I’ll never be 100% satisfied with what Jeff has left to give, because all he does is throw away some of the best development.

I was thinking this morning about how odd Teen Wolf’s hero/villain relationship is, particularly in regards to Scott. Like in most heroes’ stories, there’s an element of a “fated showdown”, you know? That the hero and the villain are intertwined somehow, and that it’s inevitable it will end in a confrontation.

In TLJ, for example, so much is built up there between Rey and Kylo that we know they’re going to meet. Just like it was inevitable that Luke met Vader. We don’t know how it will turn out–but we know it’s going to happen.

And we don’t get that in Teen Wolf, because Scott’s only real personal enemy was Peter. And their showdown never even happened. A bunch of other people took care of Peter in Season 1 while Scott was sidelined. And that’s very strange.

Then in Season Two, our villains were the Argents. I mean, they’re mostly the Hales’ adversaries, but Scott got a jersey in that game too because of Allison. But the villains weren’t specifically gunning for him.

In Season 3, the Alpha Pack came after Derek. Not Scott, but Derek. And the nogitsune came after everyone, basically.

Season 4 (shudder) and we’ve got the benefactor, aka Peter. What a total clusterfuck of a storyline that was but, again, it’s the villain verses everyone, not the villain versus the hero. Kate also reappears of course, but it’s not Scott she’s after–it’s Derek, which re-cemented that whole Hale vs Argent thing.

In Season 5 we finally get a villain, Theo, who’s here to kill Scott. Specifically Scott. It doesn’t pan out, but it’s a step in the right direction, except that in Season 6 we’re back to a bunch of bad guys who couldn’t give a fuck about the True Alpha, and just want to go about their bad guy business. And again, it takes an ensemble cast to bring down the bad guys, and not just the hero.

Can you imagine how it would have felt in TLJ to have Rey brought about the Star Destroyer, and then ended up facing off with a few random stormtroopers and Hux?

Scott is supposed to be the hero, and yet Theo is the only villain who actually treats him as the target. Even back in Season 1 when Peter was Scott’s enemy, Peter himself was more concerned with taking out the Argents.

It’s a very strange way to write a hero, and a very strange way to write a character. Scott turned into one of those characters that your writing teacher tells you never to write: a character who things happen to, rather than a character who makes things happen. The show constantly told us that Scott was the hero, and yet Scott was rarely positioned as being important to the villains. He was just kind of incidental.

It’s bad storytelling.

Guys please listen

I always get the question, “Do you think thiam will be canon?” My answer is NO. No, I don’t believe Theo and Liam will date or be “canon” in the season finale. I hope I’m wrong, but I don’t think any of you guys ever notice the queer baiting Jeff Davis does in order to attract more viewers for his show. Notice the fact that there’s only a small number of characters who were actually a part of the LGBTQ community. Jeff treats those characters so wrong, yet he wants his views to praise him for making a world were there’s “no homophobia” when there are no characters that are a part of the LGBTQ community to begin with. Thiam is also very similar to Sterek. Sterek has been constantly queer baited, Jeff talked about how much he “loved” those two, then bashes it. Just like Thiam, only Jeff is being nice towards the ship (for now). Jeff would never take the risk into making them a couple. x *sips tea*

Okay, so I googled and got this result from wikia:

“She and Peter in the sewers make a deal that involves killing Scott.”

“Scott confronts Peter, realizing he was working with Kate and he taught her how to create Berserkers. Peter admits it and states that he resents Scott for usurping him and declares he did it for his family’s power.”

“Kate is in the sewers telling Peter that Scott’s still alive and Peter is relieved.”

I don’t think it makes sense that Peter would hate Scott more than Kate tbh. Especially if the reason is because Scott becomes more powerful than Peter. For god sake, that woman is the one who eradicated your whole family, sent you into coma & insanity, made you kill your niece, etc.

And can you tell me what happened, why did Peter feel relieved knowing Scott is alive? Didn’t they plan to kill him?

DW: Yeah, it makes absolutely no sense, even with “We want Scott dead” as motivation.

For starters, if Peter wants to become an alpha again, why risk getting Kate involved and the chance that she might be the one to kill Scott and get his powers? Because Peter’s not an idiot. He’s gotta know that Kate as an alpha is going to be harder to kill than Scott as an alpha.

And why would Kate side with Peter? She hates werewolves, she hates the Hales, and Peter, specifically, is the werewolf who killed her.

“The enemy of my enemy is my friend” only works when you and the other enemy don’t hate each other more than the guy you want to kill.

And fuck knows why Peter was relieved Kate didn’t manage to kill Scott. The only explanation I can come up with is that there was an open bar in the writers’ room that week or something.

Who is more badly written? Malia or Scott? And who's your top 5 worst written character?

Scott wins simply because he’s the main character. He should have been the cornerstone of the entire show, except the writing for him was all over the place. We knew more about many of the secondary characters than we ever learned about Scott. If the writers hadn’t figured him out, how was the audience supposed to?

Oh, Malia. A character with so much potential on paper–and so much what-the-fuckery in practice.

I adore Peter Hale. You all know it! But it’s clear the writers had no fucking idea what they were doing with him. A character’s motivations can be good, bad, or indifferent, but they should at least make sense for that character. So, you know, if anyone wants to explain exactly why Peter ended up teaming up with Kate (and, on that note, why Kate teamed up with Peter!) well, let me know!

Who else remembers that time Rafael McCall figured out something was rotten in the town of Beacon Hills, and said that he and Scott were going to talk about this? And then he vanished for three seasons…

Another character I loved. First she was a bitch, then she showed us she had a heart, then she was finally getting a handle on her banshee powers… then she screamed a lot, needed rescuing all the time, and was reduced to a love interest.

You deserved better, Lydia!

Not only is this very true, but what does this remind you of?

Alex - Stiles
Alicia - Lydia
Jarred - Jackson

Stydia is ridiculously clichéd: nerd boy liking popular girl for so long; popular girl dating jock. It is one of the oldest clichés too. Now, I already know a Stydia shipper is screaming “IT’S NOT CLICHÉD ANYMORE YOU CUNT MUFFIN!!1!!1!!1!“… and they would be correct. Because now, with the amount of plot holes and laughable fan service the show has forced just to make a ship relevant, it now reads like a shitty fan fiction. Teen Wolf will end with Stydia and Layden. Two of the worst ships on the show. One went from loathing each other one minute to absolutely loving each other the next. While the other has to ignore the shows own mythology, character personalities, and the laws of physics just to happen. Way to go, Teen Wolf. Way to fucking go with your writing, Teen Wolf! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

Major pet peeve - the fact that no matter how hypocritical and self-righteous and general fail-leader Scott became in canon, all the characters on the show still thought he was this great friend and pure True Alpha person. Like, nobody said peace-out, I'm leaving this joke of a pack. Everybody always came back, and Scott never even really had to do anything for that to happen.

This is one of the things I hate about the show as well–the fact that nobody calls Scott on his mistakes. And the one time Stiles does, it’s still framed in terms of “we can’t all be as good as you, Scott.” (I like tot think he was being sarcastic!)

And see, if characters had called Scott out and given him an opportunity to either learn and grow, or to defend his position, then maybe the audience wouldn’t have turned on Scott so much.

I mean, flawed characters are great. We love flawed characters. But don’t frame them like they’re perfect, and don’t dumb down all your other characters so they fall into line and drink the Kool Aid too. Not when your audience can see the blatant hypocrisy you’re trying to pass off as moral purity.

Don’t piss on my head and tell me it’s raining, Jeff.

Jeff Atkins Fathering Your Child

Request: A headcannon on expecting jeffs baby and what he was like throughout the pregnancy pleeeaase!

A/N: I’m a little worried I didn’t get enough Jeff in here, I’m sorry :( but I hope you like it!

Warnings: Teenage pregnancy, Temporarily unsupportive parents, Implied childbirth.

Jeff Atkins Fathering Your Child…

  • It was never your plan to have a kid while you were both still in high school. In fact, the two of you hadn’t really ever spoken about the possibility of having children at all

  • The pregnancy was absolutely not planned, and you were already a couple months along when you finally figured it out and took the test which confirmed it
  • You were terrified to tell Jeff, not because you thought he’d react badly, but because it only made it that much more real then

  • You sat down with him in his room one day after school and just burst out crying, that’s when you had no choice but to tell him
  • He was of course shocked, and had so many questions, but he just hushed you and held you supportively, not letting you go

  • Jeff promised you’d both find a way to get through it together. He assured you that though it wasn’t something either of you would’ve chosen, he was actually happy to be there with you
  • That took so much weight of your shoulders and eased so much of your nervous. Even though you weren’t planning on pregnancy, at least you knew you were both willing to work together to raise the baby

  • You both agreed it would be wise to tell both sets of your parents in one go. Jeff’s took it much better than yours, who were disappointed in the position you’d put yourself in, and you could understand that
  • The Atkins’ opened up their home to you, and you stayed with them while you and Mrs. Atkins worked on getting your parents to be more accepting of the situation

  • Your parents wanted to be there for you and take care of you, but it was a shock to them and they were scared it would ruin your life, but eventually they came around after they fully understood their risk of losing you
  • Eventually you moved back home again, though you and Jeff spent most nights together no matter where you were, preparing for what your life was going to be like after the baby was born

  • You tried to use clothes to hide the bump for a while at school, but it of course only lasted so long. It was a decision you both made to first tell Monty and Jess before anyone else, and the two of them became extremely over protective of you
  • When the other kids in school found out there was the expected gossip, and Jess and Monty could shut them all up with a single look. You and Jeff were both so grateful for that help

  • The more your pregnancy progressed the closer you and Jeff got. You’d go home each day after school and just cuddle, especially after your baby started to kick
  • Monty and Jess loved that too, and you’d often all be crammed together on the couch, everyone with hands on your belly while your baby entertained you all

  • You and Jess were always out looking in baby stores for cute clothes and accessories while the boys went straight for the toys. You were lucky that both sets of your parents had agreed to help you out with buying some of the necessary supplies
  • The jocks and cheerleaders had always been your usual group at school, but you were like their princess after you got pregnant. You and Jeff had become the first high school sweethearts of the group, and you were carrying their first baby, so they all adored you

  • Your pregnancy was fascinating to them, and even though you grew tired of people touching your belly, you’d always let them, because they’d done so much for you. From helping you move around school when you started to get a lot bigger, to sharing their food with you when you just couldn’t get full
  • The cheerleaders threw you the biggest baby shower you’d ever seen, and you cried happy tears for half of it, giving a totally sappy speech about how grateful you were for all of them and how happy you were that your baby was going to get to meet them all soon

  • When it came to your water breaking and going into labour you were at Jeff’s with Monty and Jessica. The boys were of course the ones freaking out, while you, Jess and Mrs. Atkins all stayed relatively calm as you crammed into the car on the way to the hospital
  • It was you calming Jeff in the birthing suite more than the other way around, but you liked that, it gave you something to focus on. As you looked at Jeff you couldn’t help but smile at the fact you were having his baby. The kindest man in the world had fathered your child, and you finally stopped to let that sink in

  • Being your first child your labour was long, and though Jeff was always there for you, it was the Mum’s who mostly got you through it. They were the ones with the useful words and calming hands to hold, while Jeff just worried over you and how much pain you were in
  • You gave birth to a healthy little girl, and you let Jeff decide on the name, considering it was love at first sight for him. You couldn’t help but grin as you watched him hold her for the first time. You were so exhausted in that moment, but you were so happy with your little family and how perfect it was

  • The next day all your friends came to visit. They were practically sat on top of each other in the tiny room, each of them just adoring your little girl. Jeff lay in the bed, cradling you as the others took care of the little one. You didn’t mean to sleep while they visited, but you were still tired and took any opportunity you could get
  • When you left the hospital, you and Jeff settled with the little girl at your parents place. Mr. and Mrs. Atkins visited every single day, and became good friends with your parents. You tried to keep on top of school as best you could, and once you felt up to it, you ended up going back to campus with Jeff. Your friends were always by your side, whether it be at home or out and about like the old days. You were so lucky to have your life move forward exactly how you planned, even with the unplanned bundle of joy you’d been gifted with

Do you think thiam will be endgame? And how would you want them to happen? Xo

I’m 50/50 on thiam being endgame. Jeff will queer bait anything on his show to bring in more viewers the best way he can. Just like he has done with many ships, especially sterek. He said he “shiped” sterek before, but then bashes it. There’s just too many patterns, and I don’t think they’re going to make it canon. I love Thiam with all of my heart, but I don’t think Jeff will take the risk. But, let’s just say if it were to happen, I think Thiam would argue about something and Theo slips up confessing his love to him then eventually Liam does the same. Ooh! Also, I feel like it would be so difficult for Liam and Theo to have an open relationship due to Theo having a bad history with the pack; etc. I wanna talk about so much, hahaha! I hope my long weird rant answered your question! :) x

I was listening to the one of the rewatch podcasts, and one thing really caught my attention: why did Stiles go with Derek to the hospital, Peter was reveled to be the alpha? That wasn’t supposed to be him there it was supposed to be Scott, you know the main character of the show. Not the best friend! Then again, Derek wouldn’t jump in front of Scott to protect him from Peter... 🤔

Nah, don’t do Derek like that, lol! He would have!

And this goes back to the entire problem of the show’s focus from the beginning, and many of the issues I have with Scott.

Scott was focussed on two things from the beginning: becoming popular y playing lacrosse, and dating Allison. And this isn’t an unusual choice for a teenage boy, but

But meanwhile, the sidekick is teaming up with the antagonist to unravel the mystery of who is the alpha

And for me (and for most people, I suspect) that B Storyline is a fuck of a lot more interesting than the generic store brand werewolf Romeo and Juliet bullshit going on in the A Storyline.

Who gives a fuck if Scott and Allison are having tingly feelings? Show me more of the hunt for the alpha!

It was bad writing from the beginning. The fans didn’t sideline Scott McCall. The writers did.
