“The reason I enjoy reflective surfaces is that they always tell the viewer that they’re important, and that nothing is happening without them.” —Jeff Koons

Today is Jeff Koons’s 60th birthday and #MuseumSelfie Day!

Happy birthday to Jeff Koons! Fun fact: Koons worked at the MoMA membership desk in the 1970s. The job “was little bit like a performance for me,” he said in an interview for the MoMA archives. “I would wear inflatable flowers and paper vests. I would wear things that people, when they were speaking to me, would get a little distracted by, and just kind of caught up a little bit in the event and hopefully that would help me get them to a higher membership level, just by getting a little lost in the cufflink, the way it was glittering.”
