So this isn’t figure skating, but for those of you who are fans of pairs skating, I thought I’d share this! Different medium, different art, same wonderful connection between two people :)

What else am I gonna have as my favorite hip hop for Season 5? “Mad” choreographed by Nappytabs was the routine to kick off the season and it was epic. Jeanine Mason is a contemporary dancer and the winner of Season 5 and Philip Chbeeb is a locking master. Even before coming on the show he had a huge reputation for being INSANE at hip hop. I have a theory that this is the routine that won Jeanine the show (not that she wasn’t AMAZING throughout the whole season). But this is the first routine of the first show, she’s a contemporary dancer paired with PHILIP CHBEEB for HIP HOP routine. The girl had to be nervous as hell, and she rocked it. This routine is the cutest thing.

#4: “Seven Nation Army” (Top 12)

Remember when we used to have actual hip-hop group routines? Yeah, me too. Good times. Also missing the stage again. The way they use the stairs in this routine is ace.

I’ve always really loved this routine. Seven Nation Army is one of those songs that never goes away, so I remember being really excited that it finally got used on this show, and I was super happy that it ended up being for a hip-hop routine since that was unexpected. And it worked. It was also a good showcasing for Kupono. So he’s not completely hopeless as hip-hop in general, lol. We also got to see Melissa do hip-hop in the first place, and she wasn’t even bad at it. Same with Randi.

Janette still managed to stand out because she’s Janette, and Brandon did as well because he’s Brandon. (Also WTF with that jump fifty feet in the air and he just landed like it wasn’t anything. How did he not break every bone in his body?) The outfits were cool and they did tutting before Christopher Scott made me tired of it. It’s just a really cool routine in general made cooler by my nostalgia filter.

I miss the old stage so much. :(
