I know everyone has done the space thing with Mark’s hair… but I wanted to do my take on it cause I gotta say, space is one of my favourite things. For the longest time when I was younger I wanted to be an astronomer. For my 9th birthday my dad got me a seriously heavy-duty telescope… and proceeded to set it up incorrectly haha.
Anyway - I get the space feels, Mark. Totally get them.
Gosh I haven’t really been around for a while, have I?
Sorry guys! I’ve got many things I plan on doing - so keep an eye out!
For now, this is my latest speedpaint. It’s a bit bitter sweet cause two of my favs are leaving the West End production of In the Heights and that’s got me down… but hey, it also gave me reason to get off my butt and paint something again! :)
Gotta say, this was one of the most challenging paintings I’ve ever done - just cause I was trying to capture the movement as well as the mood… I hope it shows!
Games these days are absolutely stunning. I love seeing these guys’ reactions to the art and execution of scenery and other artistic elements in games because it seems to give them as much joy as it gives me. Good art has such incredible power.
K so Tumblr won’t let me upload the full-size version of this… so if you want to see what I actually ended up with, you’ll have to go have a look at the speedpaint - sorry! (It was a heck of a lot more colourful… was being the operative word.)
Anyway - if you haven’t seen or played Unravel yet, it’s fast becoming one of my favourite games. The game itself is immaculate and I’m really enjoying Sean’s lets play :)
I am new here - I have only been watching this guy’s videos since late last year, but I’ll be damned if I’m not sticking it out for the long haul cause he deserves every bit of the support he has garnered. Jack is kind-hearted, entertaining, and a beacon in showing how being able to do something you love for a living is absolutely achievable if you’re willing to work at it. He’s my IRL princess Tiana.
I’ve started my own channel and begun drawing regularly again entirely due to the fact that I’ve seen people like Jack and Mark doing what they love and making it work. I know it will take a heck of a lot of effort, but I’d love to be able to do that one day too.
And to top it all off, I have felt so welcomed and accepted by the jse community since the moment I started popping my art up here. Heck Jack himself even welcomed me. And a community where both the members and the BOSS-man mean so much to each other is a community worth fighting for.
Just a lazy thing I tried to put together while watching Mark’s livestream and chatting with peeps today. It’s meant to be Sean and Sam hiking… but I wanted to focus on the scenery cause it’s entirely outside my comfort zone and I’d love to get better at this sort of thing. And because the only way I know how to get better at something is to practise it, that’s what I decided to do :) So I guess let me know what you think? (be kind/constructive! I’ve never really painted scenery before…)
It was based on some of the scenery I remembered from Firewatch - seriously gorgeous game.
All of this gorgeous forest-based scenery has suddenly popped up in Sean’s vids and I’m enjoying it a LOT. Although it’s also lead to me pausing a lot so I can just stare at the screen for a bit… It’s got me entertaining the idea of landing a job doing concept art or art direction for games like this. Far out what I wouldn’t give for that sort of job.
(get the feeling you need some actual training for that sort of thing though… just maybe haha)
So hey… When you see this (if you see it relatively close to my posting it that is…) I should hopefully be en route from Sydney to my new life in London. I most likely will be feeling very scared and alone… so I mean… if you would like to visit my ask or chat-thing and maybe send me a message to distract me from feeling like that when I get to London, I really think that might help me. Of course please don’t feel obliged… but I really like chatting to you cool dudes… and I don’t so much like feeling alone…
Anyway, there won’t be any more art from me until I can get everything set up too… so I’m very, very sorry in advance for the mini-hiatus!
