Let’s Saddle Up the Horses…

www.funphotoworkshops.com- Don’t forget to sign up for my webinar on shooting weddings that is happening tonight!

This image was taken at my children’s shoot in Clayton, North Carolina of my two favorite little cowboys, Sully and Jefferson.  This was such a fun shoot because we were able to do this at a real farm with all the fixings…and later on we took shots with horses and cows as well.  Such a great time and thanks to their Mom Jaime Ackley who flies me out there once a year to take their images…I just love shooting these guys!

If you descend on a city using a parachute, land on a roof, enter the building through a door on that roof, go into a room, open another door to a closet, enter it, and find that there is no floor in the closet and you are suddenly once again falling in the vast sky toward the city, you are in a strange loop. The same notion can perhaps be applied to mental phenomena, when thoughts within thoughts lead to the original thoughts. Perhaps that process has something to do with self-awareness—and what it is to be a person.

Love at the Speed of Sound

This image was taken at my workshop in Nevada earlier this month.  It was an absolutely amazing workshop and to date one of my favorite shoots ever!  This is what it’s like to come to one of my workshops….REAL SHOOTS!  Thanks to the amazing Gwen Garci and Tylor Perry for being our models and to Lisa Taylor for the use of her Camaro SS.  Just outrageous how fun this shoot was!!!!

Six Flags New Orleans…abandoned by the world

If I had a large sum of money and could build  my own set, I’d just buy this place instead.  My time there was limited, but it was surreal.  Straight out of post apocalyptic movie.  I can’t wait to release the video on everything I did there. Thanks to Pearl’s Place in Metarie, Louisiana for letting us borrow this beautiful light blue wedding gown for the shoot.  You can visit their shop at www.pearlsplace.com

Thanks to Lisa Murray and Kimberly Long for assisting me!

When you wish upon a Star, a Disney Wedding by Jason Lanier Photography

This image was taken at my Disney wedding for Christina and Ransen.  I’m entering the Disney wedding as a series into a competition and wanted to share this image that I re-edited for the contest.  It’s very important to go back and review every shot you enter for a competition to make sure it is as flawless as possible.  I have another Disney wedding this July and I can’t wait!

Camera settings: Nikon D700, 1/250 sec at f/14, 18mm at ISO 2000, flash fired.  Taken at 6:35am.

Reason #1 to attend a photo workshop- Learn to take your own great family portraits!

This image is of my family on the Matanuska Glacier in Alaska in July of 2012.  This image was taken on a tripod and was only developed using Lightroom.  This image wasn’t processed using Photoshop at all.

There are a lot of people that come to my workshops ranging from amateur, hobbyist, enthusiast, semi pro and pro.  One of the number 1 reasons I always hear as to why people come to my workshops is because they truly want to start taking great shots of their own family.  And if you think about it, what better reason is there to learn photography than to capture and chronicle your own family adventure?

I’d love to see you at one of my workshops this year….and if you would like a workshop in your own area, all you have to do is get 5 people organized and we will schedule it for your area!

Next Workshops:

Liverpool Anglican Cathedral with Seth and Yvonne

This image was taken during my couple shoot with Seth and Yvonne the day after the wedding in Liverpool, England. The church was incredibly accommodating in letting us take pictures there and even played the wedding theme song while we were shooting to show they had a sense of humor.  It was an amazing time and I can’t wait to share more!
