Lady Sarah Chatto attended the decommissioning of HMS Illustrious at Portsmouth Naval Base on 28 August 2014. Lady Sarah’s mother, the late Princess Margaret, launched HMS Illustrious in 1978.

Freyja and I stayed with mom for eight days.

She was so strong when I first got there, but her doctor was right, her health was declining quickly. We had to make the most of the time we had left together.

Our trip was planned for two weeks, plenty of time to spend with mom and dad. I’d rather not go into details, but our trip was cut far too short.

I consider myself  lucky that I had a chance to say goodbye and understand the truth about why she left.

The second Cassidy left the kitchen, Troy took out his phone, finding Jasmine’s old number in his contacts. He would be lucky if it was the same after all this time…

“Hello?” Jasmine’s voice came over the phone, Troy unsure of what to say at first.

“Jasmine,” he finally spoke, clearing his throat. “It’s Troy. Troy Stark.”

There was prolonged moment of silence over the phone, but Troy could hear her breathing. “Sorry. Why are you calling me?”

“Because apparently you’re really good at keeping secrets, Jasmine.” Troy’s voice stung with anger. Words could not even describe how he felt in this moment.

“Shit. He’s there?”

“Yes, he’s here with me. Why didn’t you ever tell me?”

Jasmine sighed into the phone. “It didn’t matter. Niko is his father.”

Troy’s grip around the phone grew harder. “You’re right, he is. But I have some news for you, Jasmine. If Odin wants me to be in his life, then I plan on being his father, too.”

“That’s Odin’s decision now. Whatever he wants. He’s an adult.”

Troy laughed, shocked by the audacity of this woman. “I am going to say this to you once, and then I’ll play nice. Fuck you for not telling me about him. You have no idea what sort of man I became. I could have been a father to him. I could have helped you raise him. But no, it was all up to you and Niko. Damn you both for that.”

“Troy, I–”

But he didn’t listen. Troy ended the call, running his hand through his hair in frustration.
