“That was to be like a child debutante going to a ball. This was a generic Victorian shape, with a tight bodice with a full skirt. By coincidence, that was also a very 1950s shape. The motivation really was to keep her in a simple bell shape, but slightly short, as a counterpoint to Anna’s sophistication. We kept it short to make her look childlike.” –Jaqueline Durran
