Chef and cooking instructor Terri Salminen (@terrisalminen) believes in simple, fresh ingredients. “An onion is really beautiful. A strawberry can be amazing,” she says. Terri was born in the United States, has called Haarlem, Netherlands, home for years and grew up in northern Italy, where her passion for food was cultivated. “In Italy, you breathe food and getting together around the table. That’s just normal,” she says. “I realized when I moved away that’s not everyone’s normal.”

An ambassador for Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution since 2012, Terri is organizing an all-day cooking school (free of charge) for #FoodRevolutionDay at the restaurant Fifteen Amsterdam. “I believe that the good life starts at the kitchen table,” Terri says. “When you cook well, people eat well, and they feel happier. It’s a waterfall.” Terri urges novice, intimidated chefs to head straight to the source: “Go to a farmers market or go to a farm. Talk to someone who grew the food. They love it. That will help you to want to cook.”
