jamie is the relic of that

RICHARD ARMITAGE in PILGRIMAGE (2017) US Release on August 11!!

Already available on DVD & all digital platforms in most of Europe including the UK & Ireland, will be available in Belgium on 2nd August! Dates are listed on IMDb. I think Canada release is with the US.

IMDb page: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3531202/?ref_=nv_sr_1
(I rated this film 9/10 stars)
Starring: Tom Holland, Jon Bernthal, Richard Armitage, Stanley Weber (whose character Geraldus also deserves an individual poster!), John Lynch, Hugh O’Conor
Very Brief Synopsis: In 13th century Ireland, a group of monks must escort a sacred relic across an Irish landscape fraught with peril.

One of the best films of 2017! I’m SO pleased it turned out to be so much more than I was expecting, given it’s tight budget. I should have known that a great cast like this & great Irish & Belgian locations weren’t going to be wasted by either director Brendon Muldowney OR writer Jamie Hannigan! Everything about this film is STELLAR, from cinematography to the historical/modern take on the story to the performances.
I’m still working on my detailed spoilery review & screencaps, I wanted to wait until more people have seen it & I’ve only been able to see it twice myself so far since buying the Blu-Ray. Also, I fully intend to see this in a cinema, well worth the admission! IMO the much mentioned “bloody” scenes aren’t any worse than TV like Game of Thrones, so if you can watch that, you can watch this. Enjoy, these actors, especially Richard, give some of their career’s best work! <3

Travelling to Essos, she enlists the aid of a bad-tempered ex-mercenary soldier, Sandor Clegane, to help her find the relic. Sparks fly as they try to decrypt the clues before Ned’s time is up. Loosely based on ‘Romancing the Stone’

Finally, another chapter!   The sexual tension’s definitely ramping up between Sandor and Sansa…

In the Loop

[recording begins]

It’s funny the things you remember when you’re dying in the middle of the Sahara. How did I get here? Archaeology was always a passion of mine, even when I was a kid. I’d spend all day digging in the sandbox, locating the things I buried there a week before. Then I’d act all surprised when I found something. Gasp! What’s this? An artifact? Who knew?

[sounds of shifting and a sigh in the background]

I blame Indiana Jones. Or maybe Jurassic Park. Not sure which. God I’m thirsty.

[a cap twists off and a gulp is heard]

This whole trip was stupid. I guess every bad decision is stupid with hindsight. Maybe I’m just cursed; whether by fate or because I had to touch something I should have kept my grubby little hands off of in one of those tombs I helped excavate, I’ll never know. And now it’s come to bite me in the ass. Curiosity is a curse isn’t it? Or was it pride? I can’t remember the saying right now.

[recording stops]

[recording begins]

I think it was the hourglass. The one in the museum. What a relic. Years of study and I couldn’t figure out what culture it came from. It was behind a glass display but it wasn’t locked. I didn’t think Jamie would mind. Oh, she’s the curator. We’re friends. I’ve known her since college. We had the same stories about digging in sandboxes. She liked filling buckets and pouring it out slow like a sand waterfall.

We Were Born to Rise (A Marauders Era Fic)

A/N: Dedicated to Caroline, also known as the reason I became Jily trash. This fic wouldn’t exist without you. (Btw you don’t know how hard it was for me to not spill the beans on the fact I was writing a fanfic. I almost told you like a thousand times.) x

A/N: So this is the first fanfic I’ve ever written. Wow. I’m impressed by myself.

Anyway, I just want to give you a bit of info before you begin reading. This started off as a Jily fanfic but, halfway through planning it, I realised that I cared too much about Sirius, Remus, Peter’s and other minor character’s backstories to not give them as much of a chance as Lily and James at showing them. I don’t want them to feel like props I use to fill my story whenever I’m not talking about how Lily and James fall in love. I want them them to feel involved and important in the story so basically this has become a Marauders’ Era fanfic set in their 6th year. I gave it the best shot I had and I hope you’ll like and please keep in mind this is the first fanfic I’ve ever written so it might not be very good. And I promise that there will be Jily, because they’re the reason I wanted to write this.

Summary: The story of children that were stripped of their innocence and forged to fight a war whose enormity they couldn’t fathom. (AO3)

Chapter 1 - A New Home (James’ POV)

James sat at the dining room table ignoring his parents’ concerned looks. Despite the big summer storm blowing up outside, he was too enthralled in his own thoughts to be bothered by it and didn’t jump when a clap of thunder shook the whole house. A flash of lightning caught his attention and made him look up at the window. The raindrops sounded like pebbles hitting the glass and the wind was pushing against the house making it shake under its pressure. Every so often, Mr. Potter would glance at the family’s relics with an eagle eye to check if they were in peril of falling.

RICHARD ARMITAGE in PILGRIMAGE (2017) Review Commentary

Available on VOD, iTunes, Amazon, DVD Blu-Ray & in select cinemas NOW!

Two more glorious new posters from Japan & Canada and some fave stills from my Blu-Ray of the hard, ambitious, unyielding knight Sir Raymond de Merville, in my opinion played by Richard almost to the letter as another Sir Guy of Gisborne version & therefore very familiar ground. I’ve been totally surprised to not see this massive similarity more prominently mentioned by other fans. It’s even the same time period as Robin Hood was.

Well, this isn’t so much a review of PILGRIMAGE as it is my commentary about it’s “Raiders of the Lost Ark” themes. Any historical seriousness I might have considered went off the cart with the Christian relic (like the Ark) actually being depicted as a magic rock, which makes the film more fantasy than history to me & I was torn how to write this piece. I began it as flippant yet the film’s conclusion & parallel seriousness of ongoing modern religious imposition & missionary conversion reined in my tone, forced me to rewrite after seeing it in a cinema. This seemed to be a struggle for professional film reviewers, too.

Before I get into the story, I want to say I think the cinematography by Tom Comerford & score by Stephen McKeon & Crux Vocal Ensemble are absolutely gorgeous. I did get to see it twice on a cinema screen to fully appreciate these! Combined with the superb acting by a great cast plus the dialogue use of languages & it’s story themes, I scored PILGRIMAGE 9/10 on IMDb. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3531202/?ref_=nv_sr_1

Because of spoilers, I’ve put the rest of this under the cut.
