I have NEVER cried at a song before and this broke me. From seeing how hard Niall has worked towards this album and then listening to the lyrics just tore me apart. I can’t tell you how proud I am of him otherwise this post would be a million words long. To sum up, he’s just an adorable, hard-working, hilarious, fucking good looking human being and he deserves all the love in the world. Thank you Niall for everything. You don’t know how much you mean to me xxx

LOL okay so the narrative that Trump was putting out over Comey’s firing was that he took the recommendation of Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and Attorney General Jeff Sessions. The memo, that Trump supposably got this recommendation from, detailed Comey’s misconduct in handling the Clinton email investigation. Essentially this was the attempt to bury the suspiciousness by saying that the new revelations about Comey and the Clinton investigation was the reason for his firing. Because we’re supposed to believe that.

And now, less than 48 hours later, Trump is already admitting that this whole explanation is total bullshit. He was being interviewed earlier today and he just outright says “regardless of recommendation, I was going to fire Comey.” Okay so you always had the intention of doing it and the whole Jeff Sessions recommendation/mishandling Clinton investigation story is bullshit? Like dude… do you even realize you just ripped your whole story to shreds?

As with many of my fellow Americans, I don’t consider myself partisan politically - never have. I am a registered independent voter and have been for most of my life. With that in mind, I submit the following:

Can we please get this out of the way? None of what is happening at the top of government now is normal. None of it. And no one should normalize it. No one.

We have a President who lies without a second thought. Big bold lies that are easily disproven. That is not normal.

We have serious allegations around obstruction of justice by that President. That is not normal.

We have an FBI director fired for insisting to continue pursuing a serious investigation into the sanctify of our republic. It has never happened before in our history. That is not normal.

We have a hostile foreign power attacking and undermining our electoral process. That is not normal.

We have an Attorney General under a serious shadow of association with said foreign power, with indications that there is much more to this story than we yet know. That is not normal.

We have Federal judges, our closest foreign allies, and the free press under scurrilous attack from the President and his enablers. At the same time we have despots praised. That is not normal.

We have an Administration fanning the flames of division over race, ethnicity, religion, sexuality, and gender. That is not normal.

We have an overhaul of our entire health care system being written in secret on a rapid time frame. That is not normal.

We have a sordid confluence of the President’s business interests and his political power. That is not normal.

What concerns me even more than any of these items is the fact that they are largely being met by a shrug or excuses from most Republican elected officials. Even many Democrats seem overwhelmed and are inclined to let some of this just ride. That may be how politics works. But this is bigger. It’s about our nation.

We are shifting the goalposts for our democracy. We are failing to be outraged by the outrageous because there is something even more outrageous that always seems to hit the news cycle. And that is dangerous.

What gives me hope is we have had waves of abnormality in our country’s history. And we’ve had times when what we would consider now to be not normal, like segregation, was considered normal. What has centered and saved our country time and again is civic engagement. I believe that most people in this nation don’t think any of this is normal. And they could very well vote out those elected officials in both parties who are normalizing these outrages.

Imagine cuddling with Niall.

His arms would wrap around you, either from behind in a spooning position or with you facing him (although sometimes you’re the big spoon, because you believe Niall is precious and deserves to be held).

The cuddling session is usually filled with sleepy giggles, Niall blowing raspberries on your neck because he’s a small child, and quiet talk about anything and everything.

“Want to buy a house out in the country,” he tells you one time.

Your hand curls around the back of his neck, fingers running through the longer hair there. “Yeah? What for?” You ask softly.

His eyes are closed when he answers. “For uh-” a stifled yawn interrupts him, “for gettin’ away from the city. To raise some kids away from the bustle, raise them properly. Maybe get a goat or something.”

It’s a nice dream. You quite like it. “Sounds good,” you drowsily murmur, pressing your head into his chest. His hand radiates warmth on your back, flowing through your entire body. “Whenever you want to house hunt, I’m ready.”

A sleepy chuckle rises in his theist. “Ya want to buy a house with me?”

“I would buy anything with you, Niall.” You admit softly, words muffled by his own shirt.

There’s silence between the two of you for a while, and it’s looking like this cuddle session might really become a nap session, which is totally fine with you. “Anythin’, huh?” Niall mutters in a wistful tone, almost to himself, like he expects you to be asleep.

“Mhm,” you reply, just on that soft edge of sleep. “A house or two, ‘cause we’re gonna have kids, and we can’t keep them in a one-room apartment and we have to have a place in the city for your work. Maybe a garden in the country home. That would be nice, yeah?” You’re rambling a bit, but that’s okay.

Niall hums deep in his throat. “How many kids do ya want?”

“I’m not sure.” You say, thinking it over. “At least two. I think it’ll feel right when we’re full. Get a dog, have the good family life.”

Niall’s quiet for a while, fingers brushing over your back thoughtfully. “You’ll marry me someday, yeah?”

Your heart flutters in your chest. This is not a proposal, you know. It’s just a simple question, one that even in your tired state makes you want to fire off a smart answer, but you don’t, because this is is serious. This is life. “Yeah. I’ll marry you someday.”

Niall breathes out a sigh of relief, before nestling his chin further into the top of your head, a small amount of tension you hadn’t noticed leaking out of him. “Good.”

Good indeed.
