It really bothers me that Bob Marley and Rastafari have become symbols of white indulgence in marijuana and cultural appropriation. Bob Marley was a revolutionary musician, a political man, and deeply religious. Rastafari is an AFROCENTRIC religion that has far more to do with honoring one’s body and honoring Jah than it does smoking weed.
In December 1979 Brian Moody was assigned to photograph an interview with Bob Marley, the day after his arrival in London. Marley had supposedly fled Jamaica after an assault on his life.
