Race Director Jean Maurel, commenting on the decision made this morning to postpone the start of the transatlantic Jacques Vabre sailing race

He said a start date will be determined later next week. 

In making their decision to postpone Maurel said skippers and race committee members took into account a strong low pressure system off the coast of Europe, which meteorologists say could kick up winds into the 55- to 60-knot range.

The race starts in Le Havre, France and ends on the caribbean side of Costa Rica
