This photograph of Pablo Picasso in his recently acquired Cannes home and studio, Villa La Californie, shows the artist sitting with his second wife and muse, Jacqueline Roque, with her daughter Cathy, age 7, and his daughter Maya, age 20. It is an outtake from a photo shoot for the November 14th, 1955 issue of LIFE that featured a story, “New Fabrics Put Modern Art in Fashion”, about artists and their textile designs for American firm Fuller Fabrics. The fabrics were used by American Designer Claire McCardell and modeled for LIFE. The artist was being photographed with French model, Bettina Graziani who wore a blouse in a fabric inspired by Picasso’s still lifes.
